Ash and Cynthia arrive at the Pewter City Pokemon Center, its white walls and red roof standing out against the gray stone buildings of the city.
As they step inside, the familiar antiseptic smell and the soft whirring of machines greet the new arrivals. Nurse Joy smiles warmly as she sees them enter, her pink scrubs brightening the sterile environment.
Ash walks over to a private booth and pulls out his PokeGear, preparing to video call Professor Oak, while Cynthia gets the rooms for the night.
The device beeps as it connects, and Professor Oak's beaming face appears on the screen. His fave lights up with excitement as he sees Ash "Ash! It's so good to see you!" he exclaims with a slightly manic look in his eyes.
Ash is a little off balance at how ...eager Professor Oak looks almost as if Ash has upended some universal rule.
Oak jumps in straight to questioning Ash about having a Mew and wants to know how he caught her. "How in the world did you ever catch a Mew Ash they're said to only appear once every few centuries" the professor questions almost hyperventilating.
Ash is glad he got a private booth because if not the whole Pokemon Center would know about his secret with how loud professor Oak was.
Ash explains the story of how he found Mew injured and nursed it back to health, detailing the Team Rocket gruntsthat were hunting Mew.
Professor Oak listens intently, his excitement growing as Ash describes Mew's incredible abilities and the amazing journey they've had with it so far. "That's incredible, Ash!" he exclaims. "You've truly done something unprecedented in the world of Pokémon!"
Ash then asks professor Oak to keep Mew a secret because team Rocket was hunting her . "I know you're excited Professor but can you calm down, I need you to keep Mew a secret as long as possible. "
Professor Oak nods solemnly, his face becoming more serious. "Of course, Ash. I completely understand the need for secrecy. Team Rocket is a dangerous organization, and Mew is an invaluable target for them."the professor nods as he says this .
He leans closer to the screen, speaking in a hushed manner. "You can trust me to keep this information confidential. I've dealt with Team Rocket before, and I know the importance of protecting rare and powerful Pokémon like Mew."
Professor Oak pauses, a look of concern crossing his face. "Just be careful out there, Ash. Team Rocket has spies everywhere, and if they find out about Mew, they'll stop at nothing to capture it. Stay alert and keep Mew safe at all costs."
Ash smiles, knowing he can trust Professor Oak implicitly. "Thanks, Professor. I appreciate your understanding and support." With a final nod, Ash ends the video call, Professor Oak's concerned face fading from the screen right as Cynthia returns to his side.
Ash pulls out his PokeGear again, dialing the number for his mother. As the device connects, his mother's warm, loving face appears on the screen. "Ash! It's so wonderful to see you!"
His mother's eyes crinkle with a smile, her voice filled with warmth. "I've been doing well, sweetheart. Just thinking about you and wishing I could see you more often. How's your journey going? Have you had any exciting battles or caught any new Pokémon?"
Ash's face lights up as he recounts his adventures, from the thrilling capture Dratini to all the training hes done with Cynthia .
Ash makes sure to not mention Mew in his retelling not wanting her to be at risk incase she says something to the wrong person.
Ash grins excitedly as he tells his mother about Cynthia, praising her skills as a Pokémon trainer and describing how they've been training together. "She's an amazing trainer, Mom. You'd really like her!" His mother's eyes sparkle with curiosity and pride as she listens to Ash's enthusiastic recounting of his adventures.
"I'd love to meet this Cynthia you speak so highly of, Ash," his mother says warmly. "Why don't you bring her onscreen so I can say hello and thank her for training with you?"
Ash nods eagerly and steps aside, allowing Cynthia to come into view on the PokeGear screen. Cynthia smiles politely, greeting Ash's mother with a respectful bow.
Ash's mother's eyes widen momentarily as she takes in Cynthia's striking appearance, a look of surprise flickering across her face. However, she quickly composes herself, a warm smile spreading across her features as she addresses Cynthia.
"Cynthia, it's a pleasure to meet you," Ash's mother says, her voice filled with genuine warmth and gratitude. "I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of Ash. It means the world to me to know that he has a skilled and responsible companion on his journey."
" And I'm so proud he's got such a cute girlfriend already , he's moving so fast "Ashs mom says making both young trainers blush heavy and deny that they're anything more than friends.
"Of course ,I know that can't you just let an old lady like myself tease my son and his beautiful "just a friend " and once again thanks for helping my Ashey boy out "Ash's mother says .
Cynthia bows her head respectfully, a soft blush still coloring her cheeks at Ash's mother's praise. "The pleasure is all mine, ma'am. I've learned some things from Ash and he's been nothing but a gentleman you raised him right Mrs. Ketchum "responds Cynthia.
Ash takes the PokeGear back from Cynthia, a grateful smile on his face. "Thanks, Mom. I miss you so much, and I can't wait to see you again soon."
His mother's eyes glisten with unshed tears, her love for her son shining through. "I miss you too, sweetheart. Stay safe out there and remember, I'm always here for you, no matter what."
Ash nods, his heart full of affection and appreciation for his mother's unwavering support. "I know, Mom. I love you too." With a final wave and a tender goodbye, Ash ends the call, the screen fading to black.
He turns to Cynthia, a sheepish grin on his face. "Sorry about that, Cynthia. I know my mom can be a bit much sometimes."
Cynthia chuckles softly, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Don't apologize, Ash. It's clear how much she loves you. That's a wonderful thing."
She gently places a hand on his shoulder, her touch warm and reassuring. "Now, let's focus on you. I think it's time we head to Pewter City and challenge that gym."
Ash's face lights up with excitement at the prospect of his first gym battle. "You're right! I can't wait to see what the Gym Leader has in store for us."
Cynthia thinks for a moment, her brow furrowing in concentration. "Well, from what I've heard, Brock specializes in Rock-type Pokémon. They're tough and hardy, so you'll need to come up with strategies to overcome their defenses."
She taps her chin thoughtfully. "I suggest you lead with Pikachu. Its speed will give you an advantage against slower Rock-types ,Especially since he won't be taking a Pikachu seriously since eletric type moves aren't very effective "
Cynthia continues, "And don't forget about Pikachu's newly learned Iron Tail move. That could be particularly effective against Brock's Pokémon."
She pauses, a mischievous glint in her eye. "But I have a feeling Brock won't make it easy for you."
Cynthia nods thoughtfully, considering the capabilities of Ash's other Pokémon. "Magikarp may not seem like much, but its Water pulse move can potentially confuse opponents. And it's dragonbreath attackshould catch him off guard"
She smiles encouragingly. "Plus, you never know when Magikarp's pure stubbornness might come in handy."
Turning her attention to Dratini, Cynthia's eyes light up with excitement. "Now, Dratini is a whole different story. It's a Dragon-type Pokémon, which means it has a wide range of powerful moves at its disposal."
Ash nods his head, a determined glint in his eye as he absorbs Cynthia's sage advice.
"Okay, I think I've got a plan. I'll start with Pikachu, use its speed and agility to outmaneuver Brock's Rock-types. Then, if things get too tough, I'll bring out Dratini to take advantage of its Dragon moves. And if all else fails, I've still got Magikarp's surprises up my sleeve." He grins at Cynthia, his confidence growing with each word.
Cynthia smiles approvingly, impressed by Ash's strategic thinking. "That's the spirit! Remember, Brock may be a veteran Gym Leader, but he's not invincible."
Ash walks into the Pewter City Gym, his heart pounding with anticipation. The cavernous space is dimly lit, the walls lined with massive boulders and jagged rocks jutting out at odd angles. In the center of the room, a young man with a rugged face and a broad smile stands waiting . Brock, the Gym Leader of Pewter City, eyes Ash with a mixture of curiosity and amusement.
"Well, well, well," Brock drawls, his deep voice echoing through the gym. "Looks like we've got a challenger today. I don't think I've seen you around here before, kid. What's your name?"
Ash steps forward, his Pikachu perched on his shoulder, a determined look on his face. "I'm Ash Ketchum, from Pallet Town. I've come here to challenge you for the Boulder Badge!"
Brock's eyebrows rise in surprise, a slow grin spreading across his face. "Pallet Town, huh? That's quite a ways from here. What brings you all the way to Pewter City, Ash?" He crosses his arms, his muscular frame shifting as he moves.
Ash stands his ground, his resolve firm. "I'm on a journey to become a Pokemon Master, and I need the eight badges to enter the Pokemon League. This is my first stop!"
Brock grins, amused by Ash's determination. "Well, well, a Pokemon Master, huh? Impressive goal for such a young trainer." He steps forward, his eyes fixed on Ash's Pikachu.
"Alright, kid, you're in luck. I'll give you a chance to prove yourself. But this battle will be a 4-on-4 elimination match. You've got to defeat all four of my Pokemon to earn that Boulder Badge."
Ash nods, a flicker of excitement in his eyes. "Bring it on, Brock! I'm ready for anything you've got."
Brock chuckles, shaking his head in amusement. "We'll see about that, kid.
Cynthia and Mew, in its Abra disguise, settle into the spectator seats near the edge of the battlefield.
The referee, a young woman with a clipboard, steps forward to explain the rules of the gym match to Ash and Brock.
"Alright, listen up, you two," she says, her voice clear and authoritative. "The rules are simple. This will be a 4-on-4 elimination battle. The first trainer to defeat all four of their opponent's Pokemon will be declared the winner."
She consults her clipboard, flipping through a few pages before continuing. "The order of battle will be decided by the coin toss, and each trainer will send out their Pokemon one at a time."
Ash listens intently to the referee's explanation, nodding as she outlines the rules of the gym match. His eyes flick to Brock, who stands across from him with a confident smirk on his face. Ash takes a deep breath, steeling himself for the impending battle.
The referee tosses a coin into the air, catching it deftly in her palm. She slaps it onto the back of her other hand, revealing the result with a flourish. "Tails! Ash, you'll be going first."
Ash grins, a flicker of excitement in his eyes as he turns to Brock. "Alright, Brock, let's see what you've got."
Ash calls out, "Pikachu, I choose you!" His electric mouse Pokemon appears on the battlefield, its cheeks aglow with an inner light. Brock watches with amusement as Pikachu confidently hops around, ready for battle.
"Oh, you're starting with Pikachu, huh?" Brock chuckles, shaking his head. "Brave choice, kid. But are you sure you know what you're doing?" He reaches into his backpack, pulling out a Pokeball of his own. "Let's see how your little friend handles this."
A Geodude materializes on the battlefield, its rocky body glinting under the gym lights. The boulder Pokemon stands stoically, awaiting Brock's command. Ash's eyes narrow as he sizes up his opponent's first choice.
Ash turns his hat backwards with a decisive tug, a determined gleam in his eyes. "Don't underestimate me or my Pokemon, Brock," he declares, his voice ringing with confidence. "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu hops into position, its cheeks glowing brightly as it channels its electric energy. With a burst of speed, the electric mouse unleashes a barrage of crackling lightning bolts, targeting Geodude head on.
Brock's Geodude stands its ground as the Thunderbolts slam into it, the electric energy sizzling against its rocky hide. "Tough little guy, huh?" Brock comments, a smirk playing on his lips at the slightly surprising damage Geodude took . "Alright, Geodude, give 'em a taste of your own power."
Geodude responds with a mighty roar, its muscular arms flexing as it takes a stance. It then charges forward, closing the distance between itself and Pikachu in a few seconds.
As it draws near, Geodude swings its fist in a powerful uppercut, aiming to send the electric mouse flying.
Ash watches intently, his eyes locked on the unfolding battle.
Pikachu darts to the side with incredible speed, narrowly avoiding Geodude's powerful uppercut.
The boulder Pokemon's fist slams into empty air, sending a small shockwave through the area. Ash calls out, "Use Iron Tail, Pikachu!"
Pikachu twists its body, bringing its tail around in a devastating arc. The attack connects with Geodude's rock-hard body, and the impact is explosive.
The boulder Pokemon is sent flying backwards, its muscular form tumbling through the air before slamming into a nearby rock formation with a thunderous crash.
The impact created a small avalanche of loose stones, burying Geodude partially beneath the debris.
Brock grimaces as he sees Geodude unconscious and partially buried in the rubble. "Hmm, I didn't expect Pikachu to pack that much power," he mutters, impressed despite himself.
With a wave of his hand, he recalls the injured Geodude back into its Pokeball. "Alright, time to bring out the big guns."
He reaches into his backpack again, pulling out another Pokeball. "Rhyhorn, I choose you!" A beam of red light shoots out, and a massive rhinoceros-like Pokemon emerges onto the battlefield.
Rhyhorn's rocky plates glisten under the gym lights as it stomps its heavy hooves, letting out a mighty bellow.
Rhyhorn charges forward with surprising speed for its massive size, its rocky plates scraping against the ground. "
Stone Edge!" Brock commands, and Rhyhorn unleashes a devastating move. Sharp, jagged stones erupt from the ground and spiral towards Pikachu in a deadly formation.
The projectiles slam into Pikachu with tremendous force, some stones glancing off its yellow fur while others pierce deep, leaving small cuts and gashes.
The electric mouse yelps in pain, its usually bright and cheerful expression now twisted in discomfort. Ash watches with growing concern as his beloved Pokemon struggles to maintain its footing.
"Pikachu, are you okay?" he calls out, worry evident in his voice.
Pikachu shakes its head, managing a weak thumbs up to reassure Ash. The electric mouse braces itself, its cheeks glowing faintly as it prepares for the next onslaught.
"Alright, Pikachu," Ash says, his voice filled with determination. "Quick Attack!"
Pikachu surges forward with blinding speed, its small frame a blur as it charges towards Rhyhorn. The rhino Pokemon barely has time to react before Pikachu slams into its side with incredible force, sending it stumbling.
Ash follows up immediately, "Iron Tail and Thunder Tail!"
Pikachu pivots midair, bringing its tail around in a devastating arc of metallic and lightning energy.
The combined attack of Iron Tail and Thunder Tail connects with devastating effect. The impact of Pikachu's tail rips through Rhyhorn's rocky hide, sending cracks spiderwebbing across its plates.
The electric charge from Thunder Tail surges through the cracks, causing Rhyhorn to spasm violently. With a final, pained cry, the rhino Pokemon collapses unconscious, defeated.
However, the strain of using such a powerful move in its injured state proves too much for Pikachu. As it attempts to return to its feet, its legs give out and it slumps to the ground, small sparks of electricity crackling weakly around its unconscious body.
Brock recalls Rhyhorn back into its Pokeball, a look of grudging respect on his face as he watches Pikachu collapse to the ground.
"Not bad, Ash," he admits, nodding in approval. "I didn't think you had it in you to take out Rhyhorn like that."
Ash barely hears Brock's words, his full focus on his injured Pokemon. He sprints across the battlefield, his heart pounding with concern for Pikachu.
Kneeling beside the unconscious mouse, Ash gently scoops it up in his arms, being careful not to jostle its injured body. "Pikachu, buddy," he murmurs, his voice thick with concern.
Ash heads over to the stands where Cynthia is waiting and hands Pikachu to her .
Cynthia gently cradles Pikachu, the unconscious electric mouse fitting perfectly in her arms.
"Don't worry, I'll take good care of him," she assures Ash as she carefully places Pikachu in her lap .
Ash nods gratefully before returning to his position, his face set in a firm line as he prepares for the next battle.
Brock reaches into his bag and pulls out another Pokeball, a smirk playing across his face. "Sudowoodo, I choose you!"
The gym leader throws the ball, and a tall, tree-like Pokemon materializes on the battlefield.
Ash ponders his options for a moment, then makes his decision. "Alright, Magikarp! Let's show Brock what you can do!"
He tosses out a Pokeball, and his rare, shiny Magikarp emerges onto the battlefield. Its scales shimmer , standing out vividly against Sudowoodo's bark-like skin.
Brock's eyebrows rise in surprise at the appearance of the Shiny Magikarp. "Well, well, Ash. I didn't expect to see a Shiny here in Pewter City."
He turns his attention to Sudowoodo. "Let's see if we can't put an end to this battle quickly."
Brock confidently orders Sudowoodo to use Thunder Punch, the tree-like Pokemon's arms glowing with blue-white energy. However, just before Sudowoodo's fist connects, Magikarp suddenly bounces high into the air, dodging the attack.
The electric charge from Thunder Punch misses entirely, and Magikarp flips over, its mouth glowing with blue energy as it descends.
Ash's quick thinking catches Brock off guard. "Water Pulse, Magikarp!" As the fish Pokemon plummets, it releases a concentrated blast of water that catches Sudowoodo in the face.
Ash watches as Magikarp's Water Pulse slams into Sudowoodo, the powerful jet of water knocking the tree-like Pokemon back on its heels.
Sudowoodo's eyes flare with anger as it regains its footing, bark splinters flying from its body.
"Rock Throw!" Brock commands, and Sudowoodo obeys, ripping a chunk of stone from the ground and hurling it at Magikarp with surprising speed and force.
The jagged projectile cuts through the air, headed straight for the helpless fish.
Ash's heart races as he realizes there's no time to dodge. "Magikarp, Dragon Breath!
The jagged rock slams into Magikarp's side with a sickening thud. For a moment, it seems the blow will be too much for the flopping fish to endure.
Ash holds his breath, fearing the worst. But then, miraculously, Magikarp shakes off the hit, scales glistening with sweat and determination.
A low growl rumbles from its throat, building in intensity until a plume of searing dragonfire erupts from its jaws.
The blast engulfs Sudowoodo, the rock Pokemon shrieking as it's bathed in draconic flames.
Brock's face hardens as Sudowoodo collapses, one of his oldest Pokemon having been felled by Ash's surprising Magikarp.
He reaches into his bag and pulls out another Pokeball, his eyes narrowing as he looks at Ash.
"Alright, Ash. You've impressed me, but now it's time to see what you're really made of. Onix, I choose you!"
A massive, segmented body erupts from the Pokeball, growing taller and taller until it towers over the battlefield.
The sheer size of Brock's Onix is staggering, its rocky hide rippling with power as it turns its dark, beady eyes on Magikarp.
Ash recognizes the danger immediately and recalls his Magikarp, not wanting to risk the already damaged fish against such a powerful opponent.
"Dratini, I choose you!" He tosses out a Pokeball, and the serpentine Pokemon appears, its black scales glistening in the dim light as it floats onto the battlefield.
Dratini's purple eyes lock onto Onix, its body tensing with coiled energy.
Brock's jaw drops as he watches the Shiny Dratini emerge, its scales reflecting a dazzling black hue in the sunlight. "A Shiny Dratini? And you're only 13 years old?"
He shakes his head in disbelief. "You're either the luckiest trainer I've ever met, or you're holding something back, Ash."
Ash laughs, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I can't say much, but let's just say I've been really lucky lately."
He turns his attention back to the battle, his face growing serious as he considers the massive Onix looming before him. "Alright, Dratini, show Brock what you can do!"
Ash gives his command "Use Water Jet!" and Dratini launches itself forward, its body being surrounded by a coat of water and as it bursts toward Onix.
The serpentine Pokemon's scales ripple as it channels water-type energy, forming a powerful jet that propels it directly into its opponent.
Onix grunts as the attack connects, leaving a slight dent in its rocky hide. Brock nods appreciatively, recognizing the effectiveness of the move despite its size difference.
"Onix, use Bind!" Brock commands, and the massive Pokemon's tail whips out, attempting to encircle Dratini in a crushing embrace.
Ash yells for Dratini to dodge, and the serpentine Pokemon barely manages to slip out of the way as Onix's tail lashes through the air with devastating force.
The ground trembles as the blow lands, sending up a spray of dirt and debris. Dratini managed to avoid the Bind, but not the ensuing rock shower.
Jagged stones pelt its body, drawing a hiss of pain from Dratini as it writhes on the ground, trying to shake off the hits.
Ash winces at the sight, realizing that his strategy needs to change. "Dratini, are you okay?" he calls out, concern etched on his face.
Dratini shakes off its dizziness, scales still bearing the marks of its ordeal.
Ash's face contorts as he realizes his opponent's immense size works against it -the ceiling of the arena only slightly above Onix's head.
His smirk grows as he makes a plan.
"Dratini, use Water Gun on the ceiling above Onix!" he commands.
Dratini's eyes lock onto the target, and a powerful jet of water erupts from its mouth, arcing through the air and striking the ceiling with a resounding splash. Water rains down, soaking Onix and the floor.
Brock's face shows confusion as he watches the water rain down on Onix, his massive Pokemon looking comically out of place as it tries to shake off the droplets.
"The wet stone beneath its dody makes it more difficult for Onix to maintain its positioning, but the damage is minimal at best"Brock thinks to himself.
"Ash, what are you planning?" Brock asks, genuinely curious. "That water won't hurt Onix much."
His confidence wavers as he sees Ash's focused expression and Dratini's coiled body, ready for action. Ash says nothing, his attention fixed on the muddy battlefield before him.
"Dratini, use Thunder Fang!" Ash commands, his voice ringing out with authority.
Brock's eyes widen as he realizes the implications of the move, a frown spreading across his face as he tries to figure out Ash's strategy.
Ash's plan becomes clear as Dratini lunges forward, its jaws snapping shut on Onix's slick, muddy hide.
The electrical charge from Thunder Fang courses through the Rock-type Pokemon's body, its wet hide now a conductor for the lightning.
The wet conditions of the battlefield amplify the effect, sending shockwaves of electricity rippling across Onix's surface.
Onix lets out a roar of pain and surprise, its body convulsing as it struggles to maintain its balance on the slippery ground.
Brock stares in disbelief at the sight of Onix, his prized Pokemon, lying unconscious on the battlefield. The referee raises her hand, declaring Ash the victor with a score of four to one.
Brock shakes his head in amazement, a grudging respect for Ash's ingenuity shining in his eyes.
"That was brilliant, Ash!" Brock exclaims, striding over to the challenger. "I never would have thought to use the water that way. You really outsmarted me this battle ".
Ash grins, reaching out to pat Dratini affectionately. "Thanks, Brock. I was just trying to think outside the box."
Ash steps off the battlefield, a sense of triumph washing over him as he bask in this victory.
Cynthia rushes forward, her face beaming with pride and excitement as she envelops Ash in a warm embrace. "Ash, that was incredible!" she exclaims, her voice filled with admiration. "You really earned that first badge today. I'm so proud of you!"
Ash grins, savoring the moment of victory and the support of his friend.
As Cynthia pulls back, he feels a familiar presence in his mind, a telepathic voice that has become all too familiar in recent days.
Mew, his mysterious and powerful companion, speaks to him silently.
"Well done, Ash" the psychic Mythical Pokemon says his eyes glowing while in her Abra form .
Even Pikachu joins in giving Ash a thumbs up having somewhat recovered from the potion Cynthia used while Ash was battling.
"Thanks you guys I couldn't have done without all of your help and hardwork."Ash says in a serious voice looking at Cynthia and his Pokeballs after recalling Mew and Dratini.
Brock grins, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small, circular badge.
He hands it to Ash with a nod of respect. "Here you go, Ash. The Boulder Badge, yours fair and square. You've got a lot of potential, kid. I'll be keeping an eye on your exploits from now on. Mark my words, you're going to go far in this world of Pokémon."
Ash accepts the badge with a grateful smile, feeling the weight of his first victory and the promise of many more to come.
He pins the badge proudly to his badge box ,the first of many he hopes. Cynthia beams at his side, her eyes sparkling with pride and affection.
"Brock looks at him and tells Ash to make sure to keep such a good "friend " like Cynthia as he looks approvingly at his companion.
Ash and Cynthia both blush at this and Ash mutters why is everyone teasing them today under his breath .
Brock seeing this starts to laugh at their expressions and blushes .
A few minutes later Brock waves as Ash and Cynthia step out onto the street, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows across the path. "Remember, keep training hard, Ash! I expect to see you at the Pokémon League someday."
Ash grins, giving his the gym leader a thumbs up. "You got it, Brock. Thanks for the great battle."
He turns to Cynthia, who's already scanning the horizon, eager to begin their journey anew. "Ready to hit the road again?"
