Chapter 14

The Truth

About A

Certain Email

Disclaimer: Alrighty then, folks! We're heading into 'I Hate New People' territory but with some differences here and there since this is also its own fic and all that good fun stuff. This takes place in chapter 8 right before and after the Misfits show up at the Mansion after the gun at school incident. I also just want to take a moment and thank Red Witch once again for allowing us to play around in her universe and make use of her characters.

After hearing about the gun incident in Bayville High, the Misfits minus Spyder, Eden, Arcade, Lance, and Abeytu prepared to teleport over to the X-Mansion to check on their fellow Mutant teenagers once they got back from school for the day "Is Lance here too?" Wondered Kitty a little bit after the initial greetings and discussion of recent events between the two groups.

She was also nervously biting her lip at the thought of seeing her ex and Xi was quick to notice the scowl on Jean's face. Is she still having troubles with that incident where Lance's past is concerned?

It worried him about that being the likelihood and it didn't help that Bobby was scowling as well. But apparently it was more aimed at him and the others but it still made Xi wary. "Nah, he was knee deep in helping fix a banged up Helicopter and couldn't come." Pietro told Kitty.

Causing her to look disappointed while there was some disbelief from some of the Mansion residents that Lance was involved in helping fix a Helicopter of all things. "Is… Is that code for him being in the hospital again?" She wondered worriedly.

Making a few look at her in confusion but it was paid no mind too. "Not this time. Plus, after your little email he wasn't all that ready to face you as it is." Todd answered with a shake of the head instead of Pietro and both were frowning over the disbelieving looks about the Helicopter thing as well.

Granted, they weren't the only ones for that matter. "Well, either way, we really don't need someone like him around."

Jean's words caused a number of looks to come her way and quite a few were ones that showed they weren't happy with what she said. I have the feeling this is not going to end well. Xi thought to himself.

"Just what the Hell is that supposed to mean, Jean?" Althea asked with a glare.

Apparently our talk didn't go as well as I thought it had if she's pulling this garbage.

"Just what you think it means. We don't need someone like him here. Especially when it concerns our younger students like Jamie!"

"Yeah, *&(# that guy!" Bobby threw in.

Oh yes, he was still pissed off about what Trinity had done after that whole incident with Lance had happened. He also refused to be intimidated by the glares that was now coming his way as he stood his ground next to Jean. "Say…" Began Todd in a thoughtful way.

"Did you happen to have anything to do with that crap email Kitty sent Lance after everything went down?"

"Yes, actually. She was already thinking heavily about it and when she mentioned it around me I thought it was for the best to strongly encourage her to send it." Jean admitted much to the shock and anger of those around her aside from Bobby and Kitty.

"Please tell me you didn't use your powers on Kitty, Jean." Peter pleaded.

Jean of course was scandalized by his words. "Of course not! That wouldn't have been the right thing to do! I, WE'RE better than that!"

Despite this, Kitty was looking away in shame over having allowed herself to be swayed like she had before running off for her room. Now knowing for a certain that sending that stupid email was indeed, truly a mistake to have done. Especially as she now knew how Lance was feeling over it. "Oh, Jean…" Murmured Scott with a sad shake of the head.

This made her glare at him. "It was for the best, Scott! We can't have someone who has killed walking these halls!"

"You're forgetting it was self defense! And have you forgotten again that Wolverine and Xi have killed as well in the past!?" Yelled out Wanda angrily.

She just couldn't believe this garbage! And she wasn't the only one as well for that matter. "Always so quick to judge, aren't ya, Grey? I don't get why you ain't that way towards Gambit considerin' what team he was on before he joined up with you guys." Todd said bitterly.

"That's different and you know it, Toad!"

Pietro scoffed. "Way I see it, him being around meant that Rogue would be distracted so you wouldn't have any other competition for Scott since everyone and their grandmother knew Rogue here liked him so damn much! Man, do I feel bad for that Taryn chick!"

"Well, that's not true, I mean, no way Jean would do that. Right?" Kurt asked but when no answer was given, no one could quite believe it.

Especially Scott, Rogue, and Remy and Rogue herself was looking at the Redhead and feeling a strong sense of betrayal well up in her. To the point tears were starting to well up in her eyes as others in the Mansion were starting to show up as well and were now witnessing the whole thing for themselves. Gambit stepped up to the Redhead with a murderous expression on his face. "Well, since you so holier than thou and willin' to manipulate things to your likin' so it fits ya perfect view point, you should know that Remy's killed before in the past too. Only once though and in self defense. But Remy guess that don't matter to a Saint like you." Sneered the Cajun and drawing quite a few looks of shock and surprise.

"Then you don't need to be here either!" Yelled Bobby.

And promptly got himself punched hard in the face by Gambit as Rogue fled for the safety of her room. Unable to handle things anymore. The Cajun made his leave as well and it wasn't long before Jean found herself on the floor as well with an aching jaw courtesy of a pissed off Althea. "I think it best we got out of here before one of us does A LOT worse."

No one said a word as the Misfits teleported away and the Professor made his way into the living room with a very disappointed look on his face where Jean and Bobby were concerned as the residents made their leave for elsewhere in the Mansion. Scott himself was ignoring Jean's pleas for him to stay as he just couldn't be around her right then and there. Feeling that his relationship with her had become very tainted with today's discoveries and not knowing that Rogue was now feeling the same way where her relationship is concerned with Remy. "I am very disappointed in the both of you."

Author's Notes: Now keep in mind that as Jean and the others are teenagers, teenagers do tend to make stupid mistakes. And given the way she was acting in 'Tremors Of The Past' before and even somewhat after Althea's talk with her, I could see her doing something like this if she thought it was for the best. Bobby as well I could see still acting like an ass, especially after Trinity got back at him.
