Chapter 15
Two For
The New
Disclaimer: Here we go! As mentioned previously, this story includes a crossover with 'Chuck' and the character of the 'Huntsman' belongs to Arlyss Tolero, who is allowing me to use the character with his permission. With that said, let's get it on!
Two Weeks Later
Two weeks had passed since the truth had come out about Kitty's email to Lance that ultimately stirred up more trouble between the two teams, though primarily with Jean and Bobby. Lance had been none too happy about the whole thing after he'd been informed on it and had decided then and there that it just wasn't worth it where Kitty was concerned. Deciding to focus even more on himself and building up bonds with the newer members of Misfit Manor while Anti-Mutant Sentiments got loud for a time after an incident with a Mutant Cannibal by the name of Edward 'The Huntsman' Carris in Ashland, Oregon. One that got a number of Police Officers hurt and for one Madison Kester to be on Suicide Watch for some time while also developing unkind views towards Mutants while the X-Men and even the Misfits had strongly wished they'd been brought in to help deal with the situation. Misfit Manor itself was actually being considered for expansion given the new members they'd gotten in recent times, and in addition to the two they were about to get this would be considered even more.
Arrivals that were actually quite gorgeous and had prompted Wanda to use a little silencing magic to shut her brother up after he started trying to flirt with them. Followed by her pulling Pietro away to a seat next to her. "Sorry about that, his mouth tends to be quicker than his feet." Wanda told the two as Hawk shook his head at the antics while an African American male in a dark blue suit merely watched on.
The two new recruits looked at one another before shrugging and the short, curly haired Blonde of the two spoke up with a British accent. "Quite alright, Luv. I've dealt with a few Speedsters back home so his antics aren't all that new to me."
Interestingly enough, Pietro scowled at the thought of other Mutants with his type of power as he liked being unique, darn it! "It appears Pietro does not like the idea of others sharing his skill set." Commented Xi.
Whom was curious as to why the two girls and the man in the suit weren't having stronger reactions towards him. Perhaps they were informed of me prior to their arrival.
"Of course he wouldn't." Althea said with an eyeroll and got muted yelling from the resident Speedster much to her and the others' amusement.
"Ya know, you remind me of someone but I can't think of who." Threw in Todd as he looked towards the Curly haired Blonde.
"Considering a certain Blue Shape-Shifter stole my Goth look from when I was 15, I'm not entirely surprised by that one."
A number of pairs of eyes widened at that and Hawk cleared his throat to get things more focused before life decided to go and derail any further. "Kids, these two young ladies are on loan to us from the CIA and the UK's STRIKE Organization respectively. Effectively making them your new team mates. Albeit, Agent Sarah Walker is not a Mutant where as Agent Elizabeth Braddock is." Informed Hawk as he indicated towards the longer Blonde haired woman and then quickly explained that STRIKE was basically the UK version of SHIELD.
Along with the fact that STRIKE was part of a larger, much older, organization known as the Weird Happenings Organization that had long been based in the UK. Or WHO for short. Now while Agent Walker's face was impassive, on the inside she wasn't all that enthused about the fact she was put on this assignment. Not because of the fact that she was going to be working with Mutants now, but more so because she was still dealing with the ramifications of the fallout from her time with the CAT Squad. "So basically, Agent Walker knows about 50 ways to hurt Pietro if he tries any of his moves. No telling what Agent Braddock knows." Commented Althea with a grin and causing the others to snicker and for Pietro himself to scowl unhappily at the comment!
"65 ways actually." Walker said before she could stop herself and watched as the Speedster paled before speeding off much to the amusement of the others.
"I'm already starting to like you." Wanda declared happily as Agent Braddock threw in that she was a recent graduate from the STRIKE Academy and that her superiors thought it was a good idea for her to get some more training via the Joes and the Misfits.
"Umm… Thank you?" Came the somewhat stiff and unsure reply from Walker as Braddock talked.
"You'll have to forgive Agent Walker's lack of proper socializing skills given how her last team based assignment went." Declared the suit wearing man and all too easily ignored his protege's scowl towards him.
"So, what are your powers, Agent Braddock?" Asked Eden curiously.
Something the others wanted to know and were surprised when the Curly haired Blonde smirked as a purplish/pink Butterfly briefly formed in front of one of her eyes. "Let's just say that despite Avalanche's inability to tear his eyes away from me and a strong bout of silence, I can hear how beautiful he thinks I am."
Her words got the others to look Lance's way, who was now as red as a Tomato. "Uhh… I gotta go!" He got out and hauled ass from the briefing room.
"Does this mean he's moving on from Kitty?" Wondered Fred curiously.
"Maybe, but that's not the important thing here, Freddy." Todd told him, causing the big Mutant to look his way.
"Its not?"
"Nope! Agent UK here is a Telepath, yo. And that means we can finally make use of Arcade's version of Cerebro to get us more recruits!"
"Something I'm all too happy about, let me tell you." Declared a mostly silent Arcade happily while Elizabeth, or Betsy to family and friends, wondered what a 'Cerebro' was exactly.
As his baby was finally gonna get some use! Said baby being yet another secret the Joes and the kids weren't intending to let the X-Men find out about anytime soon! "Well, we'll let you kids get out of here and talk more without us old men around." Hawk said.
"Oh, and we'll be having the two of you in the barracks until we've added more rooms at the Manor. Sorry."
"Quite alright, Sir, I shared a room while I was in the Academy so I don't mind doing so again."
"I've honestly slept in worse places so its not gonna be an issue for me." Replied Sarah with a shrug.
Seconds later saw the room empty save for Hawk and the man in the suit, better known as Langston Graham of the CIA. "You sure about this, Langston?"
"I am, I don't want her becoming jaded any further than she already is." Replied the man, who did feel some guilt for putting Walker on the path of a CIA Agent instead of going another route that would have been better for her in the long run. Such as placing her back with her mother for example.
Plus, she would report to him about the various things she'd learn while on assignment here so it was win-win in his view. He had a feeling Hawk knew this too but wasn't going to rock the boat just yet over it and his protege would also be going on other missions from time to time as well when needed. "Well, she's likely to go a little crazy being around this bunch."
"So long as its only just a little." Joked Graham and Hawk chuckled.
"No promises."
Author's Notes: Yes, I am still intending for there to be something between Lance and Betsy but we'll see given how things are given what's gone on so far.
