Chapter 17
Lance's Decision
Disclaimer: I'm pushing back anything Apocalypse related for the time being. But like before I might make use of what they did after Jonathan Hickman took over the X-Books.
"Bouncy, bouncy! Bouncy, bouncy! Bouncy, bouncy!" Came a voice that sounded a lot like Pietro Maximoff but wasn't actually him.
And serving to make Lance groan yet again due to the fact that the Coyote just wasn't letting up on him in his dreams that night. "You know I can just keep doing this until you listen to me, Lancey!" Sing songed the Coyote much to the continued dismay of the young man.
"I already know what you're going to say so why should I have to listen?"
"Because it helps the process of acceptance, you know that, little Lancey!"
Lance let out a heavy sigh. "Fine, whatever. I like Betsy and I'd like there to be more between us but I don't want her to think its some rebound thing." Admitted the young man with a frown.
As shortly after Betsy's joining the team, he'd found himself attracted to her and often being flirted with by her thanks to her own attraction towards him. Lance himself occasionally flirted back but had yet to actually do anything besides that due to where Kitty was concerned. Thankfully, Betsy was understanding of this but it didn't deter her from flirting with him! Honestly though, being around Betsy was pretty refreshing due to the lack of history between the two of them and her not being so quick to judge him. That, and her age and maturity as well for that matter. Spyder often liked to tease him over the whole thing and like with Althea and Wanda, had taken to viewing Betsy and the somewhat standoffish Sarah as older sisters.
Coyote bounced over to Lance before speaking. "You know that's just self doubt, right? Its unlikely she'll think that given her little talent."
"Yeah, I know, I know, but can't help it." Muttered the young man.
"Understandable. But don't you feel better now for actually talking about and admitting it?"
Lance scoffed and shook his head. "No." Lied Lance and Coyote knew it.
"Liar liar, pants on fire!"
"Shut up!" Came the half hearted grumble before he finally sat up in his bed with a groan.
"Ugh." He groaned as he could faintly hear the Coyote in the back of his mind repeating the phrase 'Bouncy, bouncy!' to his annoyed dismay.
Which meant he wasn't gonna get back to sleep anytime soon! "Think I'll just go and work on some Homework." Muttered the young man to himself.
