Chapter 19

Jammin' In

The Stars

Part 2

Disclaimer: Time for more!

"Um, are we about to have more trouble? Because I'm seeing another ship heading our way!" Called out Arcade in alarm.

A quick scan revealed they didn't have to worry about it and Guido even said as much. "That's just one of the Shi'ar's Imperial Guard ships. Guardian himself probably leadin' the charge to ensure D'ken goes back to jail."

"Hard to believe there's so much that's actually going on beyond Earth." Murmured Betsy as she rubbed on Lance's back in support.

"Hard to believe GI JOE is recruiting Mutant Kids since I thought they were supposed to be the good guys." Muttered John distastefully.

Lance, despite how he felt, scowled as he looked the bigger Mutant's way. "Hey, its not like that, man, they took us in when we had no where to go after Magneto screwed us all over and no way in Hell were we gonna go to the X-Geeks. If it weren't for the JOES, I, well, I don't want to think about where I'd be right now."

John held his hands up in surrender, not wanting to cause a fight then and there even if he did have his doubts. And even with the aide of the Imperial Guard ship, D'ken still proved to be difficult to deal with. "And to think, this day was going so well until he showed up." Grumbled Alison.

Who had, on occasion, felt like attempts to do live shows were cursed since something would happen to derail it all! "At least this time it happened AFTER the show was over with, Ali," Dani remarked somewhat teasingly while keeping her focus on what was in front of her.

"Yeah, that's something I guess."

The Brightwind shook seconds later thanks to D'ken's ship moving out of the way of an attack by the Imperial Guard's. "Easy now, we don't want to get blown up out here!" Reprimanded Dani through the communicator.

An Alien language that sounded apologetic replied back. "But I want you to get blown up, you fools!" Laughed D'ken darkly, cutting through the apology of the Alien in the process.

Narrowing her eyes, Dani fired a series of shots designed to put D'ken even more on the defensive in an effort to avoid being hit in just the right spot. An explosion would occur a short time later after managing to hit his ship's engines and sending him hurtling through space until a specialized beam from the Imperial Guard caught the ship much to the former ruler's dismay. Especially as his back up from the Pangorians were now all gone thanks to Dani and the Imperial Guard ship. Afterwards, a conversation between Dani and the Imperial Guard would happen that led to them asking D'ken why he came after them first instead of going directly after Lilandra, he'd unhappily reveal that he had did it because he was convinced that with them out of the way, dealing with his sister and her loyalists would be an easy task. Making it clear him and sanity were not on the same wavelength as ever!

With this taken care of, our Heroes went on their way back to Cleveland and to where they'd been previously. Where a displeased Nick Fury and a green haired Woman by the name of Abigail Brand was waiting for them in addition to the rest of the Misfits and as well as their Handlers.

A Little While Later

"Gotta love dealing with ol' Nick." Muttered Howard The Duck, Mayor of Cleveland, as he smoked on a Cigar in his office.

The old Warhorse was none too happy about the Alien attack on the city but honestly, the Duck just didn't give a damn as at least the green haired broad was more personable then ol' Nick! He personally thought all the effort to ensure word about that kinda stuff didn't get out to the general public was a huge waste of time and effort and he knew Brand was of similar thought. But on the plus side, a new friendship had been born between the JOES, their kids, and the bunch he ran with so that made it easier to deal with Nick's displeasure. Howard had also taken great delight in proving to those kids he wasn't a Mutant and instead, an actual Alien who'd been on Earth since the 80s and happily married to his Rock and Roll girl, Beverly. Even if they were genetically incompatible where having kids was concerned but with the advancements in technology these days, there was always the chance that could change.

But at the same time, he and Beverly had come to accept not being able to have kids together and had even adopted over the years. Here's to hoping ol' D'ken is definitely out of our lives for good this time.

The ringing of the phone broke Howard from his thoughts and he picked it up. "Oh, Saul, old buddy! How goes it?"

He'd chuckle at whatever was said on the other end from the primary, if mysterious, benefactor of the Cleveland School Alison and the others run.

Meanwhile, A Few Miles Outside Of Cleveland

"Hey, wait a minute! Why are we heading towards Cleveland!?" Yelled out one Kyle 'Thunderbolt' Wildfire from the inside of the moving Double Decker Tour Bus his brother and the others tended to use when out and about on the road for whatever reason.

Author's Notes: Care to guess the Saul he's talking too? As for what's next, I think I might do a few not so serious chapters before I get to more serious stuff again. Case in point, Kyle finding out he's been admitted to the Cleveland School!
