Chapter 26
Body Plus
Mutant Positivity
Disclaimer: And we go on! I've also decided to still ignore the whole Proteus storyline aside from the X-Men taking a vacation of sorts to Muir Island. Aside from Moira figuring out a means to allow him to safely be around others.
After Alison 'Dazzler' Blaire and the others had made a few revelations like the fact Alison's a Mutant and had been so for decades, along with the fact that she helps run an integrated School for Humans and Mutants somewhere in Cleveland, she and the others had since been working on public relations to improve the image of Mutants. And since she and the others weren't doing this just for the sake of PR and then give up for awhile because it went bad, they weren't being screwed with by various factors like the Universe. Of course, the Cleveland crew were still keeping the School's location a secret and not even the Students or the Faculty could divulge the location thanks to certain measures that had been put in place much to the annoyance of those looking to put an end to the place. Something that had caused its own fair share of problems given how Pro-Mutant Cleveland is but despite those issues, Alison and the others kept on with their work. And it wasn't just Mutant Positivity they focused on but Body as well since it was just as important due to certain negative view points some had.
Fred Dukes, after being reached out to by the Jammers, had become a big part of the Body Positivity work they did. He was even trying to talk Lina into doing it as well thanks to the fact they had been getting close to one another since her arrival at the Pit but so far she was proving resistant to the idea for a number of reasons. Which was understandable all things considered but none the less, Fred and the others would have her back and as well as providing a lot of encouragement for her. And while he's one of Xavier's, Kurt did get the okay from the Jammers to be part of the work they are doing even if Xavier himself did have his concerns. Kurt even had a concern or two himself but gradually got over it while he and the others dealt with issues like the not so good Reverend Stryker, who'd end up causing Stryker Sunday to happen despite it not being his intention to do so in the way that it did. And giving Mutants a voice in the Government courtesy of Congressman Shore in the process since the man had chosen not to go into hiding like certain elements wanted.
A magazine known as 'X In The Gene' would get started by the Jammers' work and would have columns by not only Fred, but Kurt, Todd, Althea, Rogue, Hank, and as well as Xi. Each featuring their own opinions and perspective on things related to their lives or in their respective areas with Terrell 'Velocity' Mason later adding his own once he learned of the magazine. Some of Todd's video work featuring Claudius, Barney, and even Spyder would even be used as well in addition to other video footage by those from Cleveland and other parts of Ohio and even outside of it. Of course, you had your naysayers and the like who were against the whole thing but that wasn't too surprising. Congressman Shore would later get involved in the work the Jammers had started to help promote good relations between Mutants and Humans. The work by Alison, the Jammers, and the others involved would also include facts about how Mutants didn't carry diseases with them like some foolishly claimed it did and essentially backing up what Lance and the others had talked about in their interview following the Battle of Northbrook.
The work was a start but all those involved still had a long way to go before the gap was fully bridged and unity was achieved.
Author's Notes: Not a whole lot happened but I think what did happen works.
