Chapter 30

Storm's Decision

Disclaimer: I had this hit me recently while doing the re-write and decided to run with it as I thought it could be one way for things to happen for Storm after all the stuff that happened with Evan.

Roughly two weeks after Ororo 'Storm' Munroe and everyone else had discovered what Evan had actually done where Guy Spears was concerned, and in the process, becoming somewhat estranged with her Sister and being unable to tell her the truth about Evan's actions, saw Storm come to a decision after a lot of thinking done on her part. Namely, that she felt she needed to leave the Institute for awhile to deal with everything. Something that no one was particularly happy about after Kitty had gone to see her to discuss something and saw her packing a bag and ended up getting the attention of everyone else in the Mansion when the younger girl had gotten loud over the whole thing. Out of all of them though, Wolverine was perhaps the most understanding of Storm's need to leave and the Wind Rider had even reached out to an old friend of hers by the name of Neena 'Domino' Thurman to come and help out with teaching the Students so that Charles and the other Adults wouldn't be short handed.

Though Neena had yet to arrive due to some business she had yet to finish in another part of the world. "Storm… Are you certain you wish to do this?" Questioned the voice of Professor Charles Xavier as he rolled into her room.

And just in time as she was about to depart from her bedroom window in the dead of night after thinking it was perhaps the better way to go about things. It hurt that the Kids were refusing to talk with her after failing to convince her not to leave but Ororo knew this was for the best for her own self. "Yes, Charles, I am. For too long I've given to the Dream to the point its torn the bonds between myself and my Family apart to the point Evan is against us now. That I barely feel like I know who I personally am now and I need time to discover that."

"Something you feel can't be done here."

Ororo nodded without looking at the Professor. "And to be honest… A part of me feels some resentment towards you as like I do with General Hawk where Shipwreck is concerned. Though that is nothing to the resentment I feel towards myself for not doing more to make that… Lunatic, understand I didn't want him around me." As clearly that Man refused to get the hint and obviously thought getting Electrocuted by her was a form of foreplay between the two of them.

Charles flinched and felt shame wash through him for essentially just letting one of his own be near continuously harassed by Shipwreck. "Storm… I-"

"My name, Charles, is Ororo." Coldly informed the Weather Manipulator and then flew off into the night sky.

Leaving the Professor on his own as he sighed heavily. "She'll be back, just gotta give her time." Came Logan's voice from behind the Man.

Who merely nodded in silence at the other's words while hoping he was right where Ororo was concerned.

Author's Notes: Once again, this is not a dig towards RW in case anyone thinks something along those lines. But I could see Storm having quite a bit of resentment towards the Professor and even herself where Shipwreck's advances are concerned and finally expressing it during a low point like this in her life. Albeit, this does remove the Storm/Bulldog idea for the time being. That pairing being something else of L1's ideas I liked the idea of back in the day.
