Chapter 57
Aftermaths And Repercussions
Disclaimer: Let's go! Some changes included.
Thanks to the healing properties from Lina's spit spray, Craig's condition was slightly better than what it could have been once he'd been brought to the Burbank base via a stretcher thanks to Manifold as no one wanted to risk any potential problems where Craig was concerned. Lifeline had been brought in to help in patching Craig up and while he'd been able to do quite a bit thanks to his healing powers, Craig would have some deep scars on his knee and chest for the rest of his life. Though one interesting aspect of Craig's experience would be that the trauma had awakened a Healing Factor in him but it wouldn't be an obvious thing until a later time to him and the others since it wasn't anywhere near the level of Wolverine or Sabretooth's. Since a Healing Factor ability had been pretty dormant in the Starr family line for years aside from Ace due to his close connection in the blood line with not only Clara but Victor and Logan as well.
It was theorized that a lack of need of that kind of Power by other family members is why this ability hadn't been active in other members until now. The coverage of the fight had spread like wildfire and every member of the Misfits were beyond pissed off about what had happened to one of their own. The Grey family were no better and Sara was practically inconsolable over the entire situation while Philippa and Greycrow were none too pleased themselves but had to make sure no one else was aware of it. Reportedly, even the West Coast Warlords weren't happy about one of their own getting hurt like that despite having technically booted Craig from the crew. And some of the members even had some new found respect for the guy considering he had willingly gone up against a guy he hadn't a chance in Hell of winning against! Those at the Institute and over at the Cleveland School were equally as shocked and horrified over Sabretooth's actions and Wolverine himself had gone on a rampage, destroying a number of trees in the area while Jean had gone off to be with the West Coasters and her family to provide support.
Clara herself had to be sedated in order to keep her from going out and making a huge mistake where her brother was concerned and it would be something she was quite pissed off about for a good while afterwards. Magneto himself was reportedly unhappy about what Creed had done as while he may not be the greatest father in the world, he wasn't one to support the kind of thing Creed had done. Though some theorized he just wasn't all that happy as he thought that perhaps he'd lost a potential recruit where Craig was concerned. And though the blame was solely on Creed for what had happened, the Simonson Strip Mall had effectively banned the Misfits from being allowed to be on the premises in fear of another situation like that fight happening again. Calls for Mutant Registration were being heard again but that also had to do with the fact that a huge fight had recently broken out in a Mississippi city between a hate group and a Morlock Clan in the area that saw said Clan getting the win in the end.
It should be noted that there even had been a three day build up to the clash between the two and despite attempts by the X-Men, the Jammers, X-Factor, and the National Guard to de-escalate the situation, it had been for naught. This event would also be seen as a major event in early Modern Mutant History and for many to take note of Wilmond Keith, an African American male and the leader of the Morlock Clan that had gotten in the fight with the hate group. Wilmond also tended to go by the name of 'Snow Man' due to his ability to create Snow and was said to be even stronger during the Winter. And to no one's surprise, a certain former Principal turned Senator was the biggest mouthpiece over the calls for Mutant Registration. Going so far as to say a number of disparaging remarks about Mutants, but more specifically, the X-Men and the Misfits themselves and even added in comments about those who supported Mutants.
Which only served to further piss the whole bunch off more than what they already were to begin with and for Pietro over at X-Factor Headquarters to get an idea in his head and made a call to get it going. "Yeah, its me."
"What's up, Pietro?" Asked Lance on the other end of the line.
"I think its time we made use of all that material we've collected over the years where Kelly's concerned."
Chuckling could be heard over the line but there was no warmth to it. "You know what? I think you're right, Pietro. Man's been allowed to get away with things for way too long."
Lance's words had the Speedster smiling widely. "Then let's get to it!"
Shortly after this phone call, a number of recordings and photographs would be leaked to the public. All showing proof that Senator Kelly's a hypocritical piece of garbage due to his womanizing ways, his somewhat secret drunken habits, and his all too willingness to sleep with Mutant women in Brothels while Lance and the others made sure to keep certain details like identities and locations a secret so as not to cause problems for them. Going so far as to get permission to make use of certain documented footage those places had where Kelly was concerned in order to bring the man down. And with his reputation soundly ruined and not having any allies whatsoever thanks to the fact he hadn't made any friends in Washington with how he tended to act, Kelly would find himself losing his Senator position and basically becoming a Pariah over night.
Some over at the Xavier Institute hadn't been approving of this since they had an idea of who had been behind the reveals but no one in the Misfits was really all that willing to care what they thought. Jean was actually among those who didn't care either surprisingly enough and Xavier himself was among those who weren't approving of what had happened. Fearing what the potential backlash could cause Mutants everywhere and not liking the fact that Hawk was denying the involvement by the Misfits. Especially as they'd done it anonymously to begin with to cover their tracks. Their actions also showed the general public that Mutants were just as willing to get down and dirty as a Human was when they put their mind to it. Which had made some a little on the nervous side and to get some heavy criticism from the FOH and Purity, claiming that this only served their point of how dangerous Mutants really could be.
Thankfully, there was those who weren't dumb enough to actually believe that and the Misfits would take things one step further when they decided they were going to have a huge party at Kelly's. Where they would make the claim that it was his idea to do it when asked because he'd always secretly envied their being Mutants and because of that, always wanted to be one himself. And since Kelly still owned a home in Bayville, they felt it was only appropriate to hold the party there. Even if it did piss off most of the residents there. Hawk and the rest of GI Joe would forever deny any knowledge of the event after all was said and done. But would still have to punish the kids with a lot of KP to satisfy their Superiors and the general public. But despite that, the Misfits found it worth it one hundred percent.
Author's Notes: Oh boy, its gonna get wild! Though I did have another idea in mind for how they were going to screw over Kelly but then this ended up happening. Snow Man is an OC of mine I was intending for a story in the Arrowverse but I haven't gotten around to using him just yet so I thought I'd do so for here. Folks are free to use him!
