Chapter 75
Redfooted
Part 2
Disclaimer: And here we go!
One Month Later
Spencer 'Sonic Blue' Burton sighed heavily to himself after another fruitless search to find his old friend and track mate Keith Richards after he had left the assisted living facility he'd been in for years and hadn't been seen since. The only clue is that he'd been in the company of a well dressed man when he left and the name he'd given had turned up nothing on any searches. And despite Keith's animosity towards him and his armor clad alter ego, Spencer couldn't help but worry about him. I sure hope you're okay, Keith.
Getting an alert on his built in Police scanner, further thoughts of Keith left the Iron Speedster's mind as he raced off to deal with the situation that had come up.
AIM Facility, Location Unknown
"Well, I believe you are ready to finally confront Sonic Blue, my friend." Announced the figure that had recruited Keith Richards a month prior.
Chuckling darkly, the suited Keith nodded in agreement after the latest trial run that let him not only walk but run again. And at a hundred miles per hour more than what Sonic Blue was currently capable of. His armor was a lot like Sonic Blue's with similar abilities in addition to the super speed, only Red instead of Blue with the Black and Silver reversed and Red Bat-like wings on the sides of the visor. One that like Sonic Blue's, concealed the identity of the one in the armor unless the user wanted otherwise. When Keith had been brought here, he'd been immediately subjected to an experimental procedure that placed a device in his spine to grant him the ability to not ony walk again but to feel down below. And thanks to their advancements and as well as stolen tech from others, Keith had only had to spent a short time in recovery before he was up on his feet and walking and running again with a stumble here and there. The whole thing putting the former wheelchair bound individual in tears of joy at what he was able to do again. He was then given the armor the organization had built to resemble Sonic Blue and had personally done the paint job himself in addition to adding the Red Bat-like wings to the sides of the visor.
He'd had to spend some time getting familiar with the suit and what it could do, absolutely delighting at the fact it was capable of allowing him to run even faster than Sonic Blue himself. Course, it couldn't hope to match that Mutie Speedster but Keith figured given enough time, it could and he'd love to see the look on his face when that happened! For in his revenge driven mind, only he deserved to be the fastest on Earth after everything he'd unfairly been put through. "Yeah… Yeah, you're absolutely right. Its time to finally get Justice."
"And do you have a name you prefer to go by in this armor, my friend?"
Keith thought about it for a moment before answering with a grin on his lips. "I think 'Redfoot' will work just fine." He answered.
The man considered it for a moment before responding. "Yes, I believe I am in agreement. Ready to make your debut?"
The grin turned into a more savage one as Keith looked at him. "Oh Hell yes!" And with that, he was gone from the Facility.
"Well, I look forward to hearing about his success in the news." Muttered the figure to himself.
Back In Cincinnati A Little Later
After stopping several criminal acts on his patrol, Spencer took notice of the Sun going down and thought that it was time to head on home for the night. But as he was preparing to do so, a breeze went by him and his eyes widened at the sight of the figure that appeared in front of him. One who was wearing an almost identical suit of armor to his own save for the difference in color and the Bat like wings on the visor. Now while the sight of the figure in the armor didn't bother him in the sense that it was a copyright infringement since that sort of thing didn't bother him too much, he was none the less surprised. "Uhh… Hello there. Need to meet a fellow Iron Speedster." He greeted kindly and welcomingly.
"You won't think that way for long after I prove who the better Speedster is between us." Replied the figure in a distorted voice.
Making for Spencer's eyes to widen as he hadn't been expecting that. "I don't think we have to go that far, friend."
A distorted and dark sounding chuckle came from the figure. "Oh, but I disagree, 'friend'. Now, catch me if you can." With that, he sped off and Spencer gave chase.
Author's Notes: While writing that last scene, I found myself thinking of the first encounter between Barry and the Reverse Flash in the mid-season finale of the first season of 'The Flash'. Which is always fun!
