Touch of Heaven

Observation. It was one of Penelope's greatest gifts. After a year of marriage, she was his world. So much so that he could feel her watching him. Perhaps he had always been able to do that. It could have been part of why he always sort her out at social gatherings. Because he could feel her eyes on him the second he entered the room.

She could hold him hostage with those sky blue eyes of hers. The number of times he found himself caught in their depths but uncertain as to why. It had been almost a competition of which of them looked away first.

As he lay beside her watching her sleep he marvelled at the way her hair flowed across her bare shoulder where she was curled up to him. Like firey fingers caressed her porcelain skin. He knew when the light hit her ginger locks how many shades were highlighted.

"I can feel you watching me." Penelope cuddled closer but didn't open her eyes.

Colin chuckled. "I can't help it that you are so beautiful that I cannot stop looking at you."

She stretched pushing her body closer to his. "Stop sweet talking me. I am trying to sleep." There was no heat to her words, unlike her body.

"Stop enticing me." He bent down and kissed her shoulder nuzzling her hair aside. He grinned into her neck at her soft sigh. "Are you awake now?" Then he felt her hand slowly drifting up his thigh. "Pen?"

"You are definitely awake." She felt him harden in her hand. "Do you need some help falling asleep?"

Good God his wife was sexy. Considering she had been a virgin when they first made love, she had been a quick learner. She was full of surprises and tonight was no different.

All trace of sleep gone, she rolled him onto his back and sat astride him. Lady Godiva riding her stallion. He ran his hand up her thigh until he reached her centre. She was already wet but he still played her like a musical instrument. Her aroused moans as she rocked in time with his fingers, music to her ears.

Positioning himself he thrust up groaning as she clenched around him. This was heaven. He sat up and buried his face into her chest as she rode him. Her fingers wound through his hair as she arched her back. Their movements growing faster until their release. The room echoing with their panting as they caught their breath.

"Feel like sleeping now?" Penelope brushed a lock of hair out of her face. Her still pulsating body sparked when he chuckled into her chest where his face was still buried.

Finally he raised his face. "I feel something." He grinned up at her. "You are incredible." Even half asleep she could make him come undone.

"You do not feel very sleepy." She circled her hips and clamped down with her inner muscles. "Not sleepy at all."

She let out a shriek when he rolled them over so she was on her back. Hooking his arm under her leg he surged forward and their bed tango started anew. When her legs began to quiver he knew she was close. They locked eyes as they found their release together. After a few minutes Colin rolled to the side so he wasn't crushing Pen.

They drifted off to sleep wrapped around each other. Colin always slept better when Penelope was in his arms. They seldom slept apart but there were a few nights when their son was first born that Penelope had gone to tend to him when he had woken in the middle of the night and had fallen asleep in the nursery with him in her arms. Colin usually woke and went looking for her because he couldn't sleep without her.

So the following month he woke when his subconscious registered that his wife was not in their bed with him. Thinking she must be in the nursery with their son, he threw on a robe and went looking for her. It was alarming when he found their son fast asleep in his crib, but no sign of Penelope.

In his haste to find his wife, he almost ran into Rae. "Have you seen my wife this morning?" It was still early so it was unlikely that she had gone to run errands.

"Mrs Bridgerton was not feeling well. She is in the kitchen eating dry toast to settle her stomach." Rae gave him a mysterious smile before continuing with her work.

Colin made his way to the kitchen to find Penelope looking a little green around the gills. "Are you ill?" He kissed the top of her head, hoping it was nothing serious.

"No. I am with child. Again." Penelope sipped her tea. "Our son has only begun sleeping through the night. He is not even one year old."

"We will manage." He sat down beside her and squeezed her hand. "Are you not happy about the baby?" She was such a natural mother but they hadn't spoken about how many children they wanted though.

"I just did not expect to have them so close together." Penelope ran her hand over her face exhausted. "I thought we would have more time for it to be just the two of us."

Kissing the hand he still held, he helped her up out of her chair. "We have the rest of our lives to be together. Why don't we get you back to bed?"

"You are too irresistible." Colin teased. He knew Pen's mood was due the morning sickness. She had been the same way when she was pregnant with their son.

"We are not having eight children like your mother. You will just have to resist me." Penelope climbed into bed.

"I do not think that is possible, but we will celebrate our growing family when you are feeling better." He wasn't certain that he could manage eight children either. Colin tucked her into bed and kissed her forehead. He smiled to himself when he saw she had already fallen asleep. Climbing back into bed beside his wife, he cradled her against his chest grinning. He was going to be a father again.
