WHEN MY EYES FINALLY OPENED AGAIN, I WAS NO LONGER IN THE STREET WHERE I HAD DIED…AGAIN. INSTEAD, I WAS IN THE PLACE OF THE RESURRECTOR's BASE CALLED THE RESPAWN ROOM. WHITE WITH NO COLOR-COLOR.
I sat up, wincing at the pain in my head before standing and walking over to the door, pushing it open with a stumble in my step. My head felt like it was on fire as I walked out of the room, leaning heavily against the wall. The world was spinning. My body was aching. I didn't even make it five steps before I fell to the ground, my vision once again fading to black.
"Carlos…hey…Carlos, wake up!"
I snapped my eyes open, trying to sit up immediately only to be shoved right back down onto a mattress. "I'm up, I'm up…" I slurred.
"Yeah, sure you are." I squinted my eyes, trying to make out the person behind the voice. "Give me a moment, Carlos."
Something rushed throughout my body and I turned over in the bed, coughing up the remains of the alcohol out and into a bucket, probably a trash can. I gripped my stomach in pain as someone wiped the vomit from my mouth.
"Easy there, Carlos," the voice spoke again. I could finally pick up on the British accent in her words, but I was too drunk to focus. "By God, how much did you drink last night?"
"Not that much," I muttered, finally feeling my strength coming back to me. I pushed myself into a sitting position, running a hand through my tangled hair. I blinked my eyes back open, finding a familiar face with long blonde hair, tied back into cornrows. I gave a weak smirk as she pushed me right back down into the bed. "What up~ Milly…"
"Myra. And, clearly, you had a lot."
"No~" I drawled, curling up in the bed. "It was only…three and a halves of a bottle…of voodka…"
"Seriously? You're acting like you've had ten."
"Mmaybe I did…I don't really renember…"
"Well, someone did remember a few things you said yesterday," Myra explained. "Whether you were drunk or not, he didn't say."
"Who…?"
"Xavier."
Xavier… My mind was foggy and I couldn't recall exactly what I'd done last night. Myra must've seen my confusion because she continued. "Yeah, Xavier. Said that you were dumb with some of your actions. What did you do last night?"
"I dunno…" I muttered, turning onto my front, burying my face in the pillow. "Leave me alone…
"Excuse you, Carlos. I just got all the alcohol out of your system, so you're welcome."
"T'ank you…" I murmured before my eyes shut again.
"None of this makes any sense," Kailor muttered to himself, tapping on the computer again. He grabbed the mouse and scrolled through the information on the screen, which was in black and purple formatting thanks to Glitch's technology. After over an hour of searching through the information, Kailor slammed his head down on the table, spilling a cup of coffee. "¡Mierda! ¡No, no, no!" Kailor quickly snatched a towel from the back of his chair, wiping up the coffee before it could reach any of the computer systems. He sighed, throwing it over his shoulder as he looked at the mess he'd made.
I should get some rest, Kailor thought, plopping back down in the chair. But, then again, I need to get this information together for the guys who "hired" me. Fail them, fail my reason for being in this world, and then get punished. Fantastic.
After a moment of contemplation, Kailor sat back up in his chair and continued scanning the systems for information.
"So," The Resurrector started, "you got drunk and walked off the ledge of a building because…"
"Because I felt like it," I finished for him.
"Sure you did."
I placed a hand over my heart. "Of course I did. Why would I not?"
The Resurrector buried his face in his hand. "Carlos, we can't afford any distractions, especially not with this 'Kailor' running around with the information we need."
"He's not running around. We would have seen him by now."
"Carlos…"
"Uh—am I wrong?"
"No, but—"
"So I'm right!" I was cut off when he brought his hand up. "And, of course, I understand that I need to stop being distracted." I saluted him.
"Stop saluting."
"Okay…" I dropped my hand to my side and bowed instead, knowing he preferred that better for some reason.
"Thank you. Now, I want you to track down Kailor. He must have some sort of way for you to use Chaos."
I stood back up, thinking of the cutie. Chaos could track down anyone, so it shouldn't be too hard. I focused for a while, making out every detail I remembered from Kailor, trying to find his aura. Anyone with an element had one.
But no. He didn't have an element.
"Can't find him. He doesn't have an elemental aura."
The Resurrector thought for a moment before speaking again. "Try searching for an oni or demon aura. He must have something that we can use."
I had never searched for an oni or a demon in the past before, so it was a different process in order for it to work. And it hurt a bit more than it usually does, but I just ignored that.
The second I got something, I didn't even wait to tell The Resurrector. I teleported to the location and found Kailor sitting at a computer with Glitch's formatting. When he turned, my brain freaked out at the sight of him wearing glasses and holding a mug of coffee.
"Carlos." He stood up, setting the glasses and mug to the side. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Yeah, I kinda freaked out about that.
"Oh my god, I'm a pleasure? I don't think anyone's called me that before." I pulled both my daggers out. "Too bad I'm gonna have to take that information from you."
Curse myself for the slight slurring at the end of that sentence.
Kailor's eyebrow quirked upward. "Have you been drinking recently?"
Fuck. "That's none'ya business."
Kailor chuckled, pulling a sword out from the ground.
The ground.
The ground?
"How'd you do that?" I asked, but he didn't respond and simply lunged at me. I threw my daggers up to block the sword attack before teleporting behind him, kicking his back.
Or I would have kicked his back if he hadn't transformed into a shadow form. My leg went through him and my body shortly followed, causing me to faceplant into the ground. I groaned softly and turned over, blocking Kailor's sword from hitting me. It stabbed into the ground beside my head, and Kailor leaned forward so our faces were almost touching. He smirked down at me.
"You're blushing."
I ignored the heat in my cheeks and kicked him in the stomach, lifting him up and off of me. I pushed myself up, pocketing one dagger to grab his sword from out of the ground. "Neat sword. Ever heard of Finder's Keepers?"
The sword vanished from my hand and reappeared in Kailor's, building up shadow by shadow. "Ever heard of Loser's Weepers?"
I grinned at his rebuttal. "Yeah, but I'm never the lose—"
Something hit me across the head and my body slumped forward, hitting the ground with a thud.
Something hit me in the side of the face, waking me up in an instant. I groaned softly, my head lolling forward onto my chest before looking up to see Kailor crouching in front of me, holding the sword over his shoulders. His leggings were tight against his body, as well as the shirt he was wearing underneath his jacket.
Talk about gay panic right there.
"Mind explaining why I'm upside down?" I asked, tilting my head so I could get a better look at his goddamn strong, muscular body.
Kailor thought for a moment before shaking his head. "Nah, I think I'm good."
I smirked at him. "Has anyone ever told you that your accent is sexy?"
He tilted his head at me, a sly smile plastered onto his face. He stood up and leaned down. "Can't say that I have. Why? You like it?"
"Oh yeah," I murmured, my tone low and husky to try and get him to unchain me.
You wanna know what that earned me?
Getting spun on the chains, which made me dizzy.
Fuck, he's really going to do this, huh? Fine. I can get out of this. Just watch…
Don't you dare—
"According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyways. Because bees don't care what humans think is impossible." Kailor rose an eyebrow at me, but I continued. "Yellow—"
"Do you really think reciting the entirety of The Bee Movie is going to get you out of here?"
"Maybe."
Kailor crouched down again, his face dangerously close to mine. "And what would I have to do to get you to shut up?"
"You could kiss me. Reenact Spiderman. Be the Gwen to my Parker."
Kailor let out a chuckle. "We have interacted with each other three times. Two if you don't count the fight. What makes you think I'm even interested in men?"
"The fact that you're too hot to be interested in women."
"You think I'm too hot to be interested in women?"
"I do think you're too hot to be interested in women."
Kailor sighed, shoving my face away and causing me to swing in the chains once again. "You're annoying. To the point I almost want to return you right back to The Resurrector."
I grinned. "Yeah, that's me—wait, you know The Resurrector?"
"The people who hired me told me about him. You work for him, no?"
"I'm—yeah, I do. How—how did you know that?"
"The people who hired me informed me about you. I was supposed to simply capture you, but you've proven to be quite difficult." Kailor walked past me, pulling his phone out. He tapped at it a couple times, trying to get it to turn on.
Does this guy seriously not know how to use a phone? How old is he?
"Hey, you, uh, need any help, or…"
Kailor glanced at me before looking back down at his phone. He sighed and crouched down, holding his phone in front of me. "How do you turn this on?"
"You click the button on the side."
He looked at the phone before pushing the power button in such a foreign way that I almost laughed. He showed it back to me, the screen now having a dead battery sign. "What's this?"
I rolled my eyes. "It's dead."
"Dead? But it's brand new." He looked so damn confused.
I groaned. Now he was annoying me. "You have to charge it. Dumbass..."
He frowned. "Charge it? With what?"
This guy wasn't serious. "A charger…?" I tried. He raised an eyebrow. If he weren't this stupid, I'd think it was sexy. "You don't know anything about phones…?"
He shook his head slowly. "No, I don't. How do you use the charger to charge it?"
"Okay, look, how about this. If you unchain me and let me charge your phone, I'll come right back to the chains. Deal?"
Kailor narrowed his eyes at me. "And how do I know I can trust you?"
"Because I'm gay and suicidal?"
His gaze softened ever so slightly. "You're suicidal?"
"Well, I don't like talking about it."
"Sure, yeah. Sorry." Kailor thought for a moment before sighing and taking the chains off. "Show me how the phone works."
I fell onto the ground because I had been upside-down in the chains. I groaned as my head spun, rubbing it gingerly. "Kailor, I swear on the Overlord, you're gonna give me a concussion."
"Sorry," he replied, offering a hand to pull me up. The second his hand was in mine, I teleported a pair of handcuffs into my free hand and snapped them around our wrists. Kailor immediately tried pulling away and widened his eyes when he saw the vengestone. "How did you—"
"No questions." I gritted my teeth in pain. The only good part about Chaos was that it was able to bypass vengestone. Unfortunately, it hurt like a fucker.
"Dammit, you said you weren't going to try anything!" Kailor snapped, pulling me onto my feet. I stumbled and ended up falling right into Kailor, knocking him onto the ground. I groaned softly and pushed myself up, finding myself on top of Kailor while on the ground.
My cheeks started flushing and I found myself unable to move or even look away. My hands were pinning him down on the ground, on either side of his head, and he was looking up at me with the same amount of blush on his brown cheeks.
"Hey—" I started when a pain went through my body. I groaned, falling to the side while I held my dick. "Ah, what the fuck, man?!"
Kailor stayed on his back, still tugging against the handcuffs. "Take these off, Carlos!"
"No. I think I like them on."
"I'm not playing!"
"Neither am I, sucka!" I stood up onto my feet, pulling Kailor up with me. He stumbled forward, grabbing my arms to stop himself from falling over. I smirked at him. "Kinky—"
"I will kick you in the dick again."
"Okay." I hummed in through before looking down at the handcuffs, tugging on them for a moment. "So…I can't teleport these off because they're touching me…how you wanna do this?"
Kailor sighed in exasperation. "If you can get my phone on the charger, I can call for some…assistance."
"Aw, come on, this again?" I complained. This guy was so damn idiotic when it came to phones. "I don't wanna."
"Carlos—"
"Kailor—"
"Don't even."
"Okay." I held my free hand out and he handed the phone to me. I pulled him behind me as I walked over to his work table. As soon as I got the charger set up, I stepped to the side and let him call for a friend. As he was distracted, I took the USB and pocketed it, watching as Kailor sat down in the chair and put the phone to his ear.
"Hey, I'm in a bit of a pickle right now. Could you possibly come over here?" A pause. Kailor looked at me in annoyance. "No, believe me, I got him." I chuckled at him and he shot me a glare before hanging up the phone. "You're such an annoying culo, you know that?"
"What the hell is a culo?"
He smirked at me. "An ass."
I started to bring a hand to my chest before realizing it was the wrong hand. I switched and continued. "Aw, Kailor. That's my new favorite Spanish word."
"You didn't know any Spanish—"
"I didn't know any Spanish before this, no."
Kailor sighed, rubbing his temples while muttering to himself in Spanish. Finally, he looked back up at me. "You're going to give the USB back."
"I don't have it," I lied.
"Bullshit." Kailor lunged forward, trying to grab at my pants to take the USB back, but I was quicker than him. I kicked him in the side and got on top of him, pinning him to the ground with his back facing me. He immediately tried struggling, but I held my ground.
I want to kiss him so damn badly. He's too cute when he's struggling like this. I mean, he's only about five-seven, maybe six inches shorter than me.
"Dammit, Carlos! Get off me!" Kailor shouted, thrashing from underneath me.
"No. I like you like this." That came out wrong. "No, wait, I mean—"
"I know what you mean, dammit. Let go of me!"
"No. I want you to answer me a few questions. Then I'll—" Sadly. "—get off of you. Deal?"
"Que te jordan."
"I'll take that as a yes. Alright, first things first, why do you want the information on the USB?"
"I'm not answering your questions, Carlos." I twisted his hand and he let out a hiss. It was a very…snake-like hiss, which was odd. "I said I'm not answering, dammit."
"I could break your hand, you know."
"Do that and I'll do something you really won't like."
"Fuck me? Cause I would despise that."
"You just told me you were gay!"
"Uh, no, I told you I was gay forty-three lines ago. I didn't just now."
Just then, the doors opened and six people walked into the room. Six very familiar people. I laid down on top of Kailor, smiling at them.
"Heya Cous'! How's it going?"
Lloyd blinked at me for a moment before pointing at Kailor. "Why are you laying down on Kailor?"
"You know him?" I asked, avoiding his question.
"Get off me…" Kailor groaned, face down on the floor as I laid on top of him.
"No. I like being on top." I flicked him in the back of the head.
Lloyd sighed and walked over to the handcuffs on us, about to take them off when Kailor pushed me off his back. "Don't. He has the USB."
Lloyd narrowed his eyes and I immediately jumped up, holding Kailor in front of me. "Don't even think about it, Cous'," I spoke, quickly shooting him a grin. "I'll snap the pretty boy's neck faster than you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."
Kailor grabbed my arm and dragged me over his body and slammed me onto the ground. I groaned at the impact, not even able to stop Lloyd from shuffling through my pockets and taking the USB back. "Fuck…"
Lloyd fished the USB out of my pocket and put it in his. He stood back up as I turned onto my stomach, intending to push myself up into a sitting position before a pair of hands shoved me right back on the ground.
"Nice try, Carlos," Kailor muttered, "but you're not going to be going anywhere for a while."
I rested my face on the ground, screaming just three words in my head. Kill me now.
