Storytime from the Legend Herself
Rex and Rana's Party have made their way back to the theater where Pyra says to go for some privacy about everything she is going to reveal to them, and what she's about to tell is may shock the group to their core including the Blades and their literal cores.
"Malos and I are Aegises. Blades born with a terrible power, strong enough to destroy the world…" Pyra revealed.
"Malos is another Aegis?!" Rex shocked as everyone else was, mind blown could not be the right word for their reaction.
"But if you're both Aegis Blades then why is Malos evil?" Ymir asked.
"I'm not sure myself, but I can tell you how we came upon your world." Pyra said as she began the story.
(Flashback)
The scene shows of a man climbing up a very tall and very big familiar tree which would be that of the World Tree itself, and this man is intended on climbing all the way to the top.
"There was a man who climbed the World Tree, hoping to make it to Elysium and meet his creator." Pyra mentioned.
The man was able to get all the way to the top and saw an entrance believing he might be able to meet the Architect. He went inside and was able to find a room that opens for him as a bright light comes out.
"But… when he arrived at Elysium, he found it empty. So instead, as proof that he had reached that divine realm… He brought back two Core Crystals, Malos and me." Pyra said.
The man is now running out of the World Tree and climbing down while carrying two Core Crystals that are shape like crosses, one is emerald, and the other is purple, then came back to his home where he places the Core Crystals on his desk as they are floating a bit.
"And once he made it back to Alrest…"
The man looked at both Core Crystals trying to decide one to activate, and his eyes grew serious upon making his decision.
"…He awakened Malos." Pyra finished that paused sentence.
"Why he did it, I can't say. For greed… for power… or perhaps…" Pyra could only guess a few things.
Then the scene shows flames all around like something or someone is setting everything on fire for the purpose of destruction.
"When Malos awakened, he wielded his world-shaking power without restraint." Pyra said, a little shaken in her voice.
Malos is seen among the flames with his back view and turns his head to show his dangerous stare even if it was just for a moment.
The scene changes again to see large black and purple explosions happening upon the land and the destruction is even destroying a Titan, destroying many lives in the process which is what he's been aiming for. Everything was being destroyed by his power alone.
"To him, it was natural. He had never known anything else." Pyra stated.
Somewhere else, at the same time, several people have been gathered at the Olethro Ruins when the place wasn't much of a ruined and a ceremony was place where a young, hooded man and Mythra are there as the blonde Blade young woman tap his shoulder with her sword to knight him to be her Driver.
"I was awakened by a Driver who was determined to stop Malos's rampage. So, Malos and I fought." Pyra mentioned, referring to Addam who was alive at the time.
As Mythra and Malos clash with all of their Aegis powers, everything around them was getting torn up and demolition of the destructive battle between the two Aegis with Mythra even commanding a giant robot that helps her in battle.
"I fought with all of my might and succeed in defeating Malos. But not without a price. Three great Titans fell in the struggle." Pyra sobbed a little from that memory.
But upon winning the battle, ahead of Mythra are flames and smoke rising into the sky because of the destroyed Titans that were caught in the crossfire of the great battle. Many lives were lost that day, three whole continents of people living there have been lost because of the battle such as families and loved ones.
Then the scene changes to a familiar abandoned ship under the sea of the cloud sea, one that would later be discovered in hundreds of years later.
"After the battle… I sealed myself away to ensure that power would never be unleashed again. I took the form you see now and fell into a long slumber." Pyra explained.
The sleeping Pyra is shown to be sleeping within that capsule, resting and waiting for something to happen.
(Flashback End)
"That was five hundred years ago." Pyra finished her story.
"Damn…" Risty whispered, this story feels deeper than the ones she heard from others.
"The Aegis War. The man who awakened Mythra was Addam, the hero of the lost Kingdom of Torna." Azurda said, telling a bit more of the story from here.
"Addam fought as Mythra's Driver to protect the world from Malos. We Titans played our part in that battle too. It is our calling to live alongside humanity, after all." Azurda stated. He wouldn't regret anything about taking part in the war to help humanity and would do it again if he has to.
"Grandpa, you were in the war too?" Rana surprised.
"Giving up long Titans can long, I guess it would only make sense that you were there as well." Cattleya believed.
"So, Addam hid Pyra away when she sealed herself up?" Rex asked.
"Yes, Addam hid Pyra's sleeping body inside a great ship and sunk her to the Cloud Sea's floor, where none could abuse her power." Azurda explained.
"So, that day, that's the ship that we… That's how Pyra and I…" Rex started to realize that it may have been more than a coincidence, feeling that day was bigger.
"I believe it was fate that we met each other. Otherwise, my sister would never have woken up." Pyra believed, feeling something strong is bringing all of this together.
"(Sure, call it what you want, but I still don't like bring waken up like that.)" Mythra complained in Pyra's head.
"You call her your sister, are you two really related like that?" Rana asked.
"Mythra and I used to talk together, in that dream of Elysium where Rex met me. We promised that, when we were awakened again, we'd go home to the real Elysium. And then, we should fulfill our real purpose." Pyra explained with her eyes looking a little serious for a moment.
"And that's… defeating Malos again?" Rex asked, Pyra gave him a nod, but he gets a little weird feeling that the promise Pyra and Mythra made might be more than that.
"I have to say, this has been quite the story and from the legend herself. Didn't think I would be able to live in it." Risty commented.
"And the part about you and Mythra having your own private conversation with each other in the mind, very spooky." Aria complimented.
"Huh, thank you. I guess…" Pyra weirded out a little of this new girl.
"Aria, don't make Pyra uncomfortable." Rana pulled Aria away from the red hair Blade.
"Bet it must be pretty hard for you to carry such a burden to help save the world from the one who is like supposed to be family or something when he is out there trying to destroy the world." Ymir said, feeling sad for Pyra and Mythra.
"But they're not alone, they have each other and what's more is that they have Rex as their Driver! So, I believe they'll be alright." Agata pointed out.
"Not only that, but they also have us to help to have their back in every step of the way!" Rana added with a smile.
"Thanks, little brother." Rex smiled.
"And Pyra, you better remember what Rana said because this concerns for you and Mythra too." Cattleya said with a kind motherly smile.
"Thank you." Pyra smiled back.
"But still, this is Malos we're talking about, and he is not going to be down so easily as he is still around even after that great battle." Nia pointed out this fact.
"Yes, me and especially Mythra were very surprised to see that Malos is still alive the Aegis War five hundred years ago and has been planning behind the scenes since." Pyra cursed that she, being Mythra, should've made sure to see if Malos was truly destroyed.
"Not only that, but he's not acting on his own this time." Rana mentioned the others that are with him.
"Mythra managed to take out two of their Blades, but they're not going to be out of the fight just yet. They'll be back with greater force with a vengeance, Jin won't take this lightly as well." Nia stated.
"In other words, we need to be careful and well-guarded should we ever run into that group again." Dromarch agreed with Nia's worries.
"I'm sure it's fine, we got each other, and we'll just have to grow stronger together, so we'll be ready to fight them the next time!" Rana smiled with confidence.
Rana climbs up the stage standing next to Pyra to face the others in a higher view.
"It's like Pyra said, it was fate that brought us together whether we want it or not and the next thing we knew, we're together as a group sharing a connection from the hearts. And that's what is gonna help us get through the tough times!" Rana smiled with a fist held forward.
"Couldn't agree with you more on that." Rex smirked with one fist held toward his little brother's fist.
"I'll admit, that was quite the speech." Nia commented.
"It made my heart stop a beat." Ymir smiled with her cheeks blushing.
"Meme! Sisterpon is having a heart attack! Poppi, quick, activate nurse mode on the double!" Tora panicked and commanded his robotic Blade.
"Roger, roger!" Poppi bends down, ready for nursing action to help Ymir.
"Will you two knock it off?! I'm not having a heart attack! And we definitely didn't install a nurse mode into Poppi, Tora!" Ymir yelled at the two idiots.
"Meme… Never mind, Sisterpon is alright." Tora said shaking in fear.
"But we should really check if she is feeling unwell." Agate concerned for her Driver.
"Maybe we should do the same for the kitty girl here, just to make sure she doesn't have any flees in her hair." Aria teased Nia with a sly grin.
"Excuse me? Are you saying I'm filthy?!" Nia angered with a fierce glare.
"No need to worry, I'm always filthy myself because I forget to take a shower for a few days." Risty mentioned.
"Please, it's more like over a whole week!" Swan said while pinching her nose, remembering how stinky Risty can be at times.
"Hold on, I think we're getting off topic here." Rex stated.
Pyra giggles from how everyone is being right now even when the moment was serious like when she was just telling them her story, and the mood just went to a cheerful one that kinda reminds her of how there was another group Mythra and Addam used to be a part of during the Aegis War.
"Come on, everyone. I think we should rest up for a while, gather our strength from that big fight last night." Pyra suggested.
"I think she's right, gonna need to recharge ourselves before we even think about traveling on again." Nia agreed with that idea, she's still recovering from that hard battle.
"Then it's agreed, let's rest up for the day and figure out what's our next move tomorrow." Rex said.
"Who died and made you leader?" Risty asked, but then she realizes that that word was probably the wrong one to say at this moment with Vandham.
"Sorry, should've worded that better." Risty apologized.
"It's fine, pretty sure Vandham would've told you to loosen up and not worry about him too much." Rex stated of what Vandham would say if he was still here with them.
"Too true, Rex. Too true." Risty chuckled.
And so, with everything being told by Pyra and the mood feeling a little cheerful, the group leaves the theater and went back to the inn.
(Later, with Rex)
Rex is seen looking out the window having some deep thinking about everything that he had learned today and from the battle last night. Learning about Pyra and the other named Mythra who is the true power of the Aegis and hearing everything about the battle from herself was something else, especially the part about Malos turning out to be another Aegis Blade just like Pyra only he's more on the evil side and trying to destroy the world.
Still, it was a lot for Rex to take and it is still shocking to him, but he is going to do his best to become a strong Driver for Pyra, and Mythra too even though she seems a little rough right now.
Then Pyra comes into the room wanting to have a little talk with him.
"I'm sorry about Mythra. She didn't mean all that." Pyra apologized about what Mythra said to Rex about being useless earlier at Vandham's grave.
"You have to understand, she came out because she wanted to protect you. She broke her own seal for you, even used her power as the Aegis…" Pyra stated.
"(Hey, don't make it sound like that kid is special to me or anything.)" Mythra exclaimed, maybe blushing a little.
"The flame powers I use are just a shadow of her strength. Droplets of excess energy, trickling through the seal." Pyra revealed how powerful Mythra really is.
"Don't worry about it. She was right. This was all my fault." Rex said, agreeing with Mythra.
"I'm just glad…" Rex paused with a smile and turns around facing Pyra. "That you've finally managed to open up a little! Also, thank you! For protecting everyone, I mean." Rex thanked.
"Protecting? Me?" Pyra was surprised that Rex would be thanking her even though it was Mythra who saved the day.
"Your powers are incredible. I could feel the truth behind the legends!" Rex complimented.
"I'm sorry, I…" Pyra felt a stutter, not sure how to reply to that.
"You apologize a lot, you know that? I guess you still feel guilty… about the Aegis's power, right?" Rex asked.
"But I… don't want you to have to apologize any more. I hope I can help you more past that… No, I know I can." Rex determined with strong will and fire in his eyes.
"Rex…" Pyra can definitely see that strength coming from his eyes almost like they are overflowing into her Core Crystal.
"(I gotta admit, the kid got some spirit.)" Mythra commented a little surprised by this.
"Power depends on the heat of its wielder… That's what Vandham said. That's why your power is the power to protect. The power to keep everyone safe and smiling. I want to do the same. I'mg onna be the kind of Driver who can protect you in turn. I promise!" Rex declared this promise to Pyra.
"Make a girl cry? That's not gonna fly. Make a girl smile? You pass the trail! That's the third rule of the Salvager Code. Yeah?" Rex phrased the words of the Salvager Code.
Pyra smiles as she feels like some weight has been lifted off from her shoulders and even Mythra couldn't help but be a little impress with Rex, the Aegis girl is grateful to have this young man as her Driver.
"Hey Rex, do you wanna walk around a little before turning in for the night?" Rana called out.
"Sure, I'll be right there." Rex responded, then turns back to Pyra.
"Oh yeah – what's for dinner tonight?" Rex asked.
"How does Meatball Pot-au-Feu sound?" Pyra asked with a smile.
"Delicious! Mm, I can't wait!" Rex excitedly before leaving to room for his little brother.
Pyra held her hands onto her chest and her Core Crystal, feeling really touched by his words.
"That's my Rex. Never loses his smile, and that's what keeps us all going. Same could be said about Rana, having his own way of lifting everyone's spirit." Azurda bragged a little about his two adopted grandsons.
"…I take it Rex reminds you of Addam, am I right?" Azurda asked.
Tears can be seen forming from Pyra's eyes as she sat on one bed, she brings up her hands to cover her face and soft sobbing sounds came out with memories of Addam came flooding in.

Pyra reveals about herself and Mythra to everyone along with Malos turning out to be an evil Aegis Blade which is really freaky, and Rex has made his promise to become a strong and dependable Driver for Pyra and Mythra to make it all the way to Elysium.
