The IM portal shimmered into existence about a foot from her pillow.
"Wha? Perce? It's...Gods, I don't know what time it is. What do you want?"
"Can you get on the internet and find a sea turtle rescue near the California/Mexico border?" He was treading water in the middle of the ocean and was clearly agitated.
"Percy, it's three in the fucking morning. I'm sleeping. I'm not demigod google. Call back at a reasonable hour." She reached out to swipe her hand through the window.
"Wait! Please!" Percy lifted a badly injured sea turtle into view. "The palace healers are too far away, and I need some place to take [her] now!"
"Shit." Rachel sat up and reached for her phone, finally coming to full wakefulness. "Near the border, you said?"
"Yeah. We're about twenty miles out to sea, so a few miles in either direction won't matter."
"Head for San Diego; I'm seeing a few different possibilities there. I assume you'd like me to call ahead and arrange a meeting?"
"That would be great. I just need the latitude and longitude."
"I'm going to be calling from a French number. How do you want me to explain you?"
"As long as they show up at the right coordinates, I don't care. I'll use the Mist to hide my face."
"I found one that looks promising. Message me back when you're closer to shore and I'll tell you where to meet them."
The IM window disappeared as Percy slipped back under the surface of the ocean.
"Well shit," Rachel said.
