Hello everybody I'm back with another Chapter. Sorry it took so long, I've been really busy with school. But it's here now so please enjoy Chapter 10 in PAW Patrol: The Wellerman.

Chapter 10

Zuma's POV
We sailed for about three weeks before we reached the warm Caribbean waters. The crew and I were so excited to be in warmer waters that we laid anchor near a small tropical island. We all rowed out to the island and spent the day swimming in the warm ocean. That night, we harpooned some fish and roasted them over a big bonfire on the beach.
Jack and Bay brought out a few barrels of Caribbean rum from the ship, and we all had a drink. We had fun that night dancing under the stars to Old Pete's shanties. Around 10:00 P.M., we all sprawled out on the cool sand and gazed up at the stars. We laid there for about an hour, enjoying each other's company and telling old sailor stories before falling asleep on the beach.
I had really begun to like this life on the ship. We spent the next two months out at sea, whaling, playing games on the deck, and singing along to Pete's sea shanties. But eventually, the time came for us to stop and restock the ship. We sailed for a few days until we reached Nassau. We would spend the next few weeks in Nassau, restocking the ship and working on our whales. One night, the crew and I were going to get a drink when I noticed Bobby sitting on the side of the ship.
"Oy Bobby, the crew and I are going to get a drink. Wanna come along?" I asked.
"Oh, no thanks, I've got something else I want to do," Bobby said.
"Okay," I said. He didn't know what he was missing, I thought.
Hackers POV
After Zuma and the crew left, I took out my pager that Captain Black Fur gave me. I wrote, "We're in Nassau. Want to meet up somewhere?" Black Fur's response was, "Sure, meet me at Pirate's Cove Tavern. See you there." I sighed and found a taxi to take me.
Pirate's Cove Tavern was actually one of many secret underground pirate bases. I met Black Fur at the bar. The base itself was underground, but Black Fur and I just went to a back living area in the tavern. The room was large and spacious, with a warm fireplace and bean bag couches.
I sprawled myself out on one of the bean bags near the fire while Black Fur went to the back and grabbed a few bottles of Caribbean rum. He handed me one of the bottles and then laid down himself.
"So, how are things going with the mission?" Black Fur asked, popping the cork on his bottle.
"Great, Captain. I've learned a lot about Zuma over the past six months," I said.
"Well, tell me all about it. Don't leave out a thing," Black Fur said.
"Well, I've found out that he's from Adventure Bay, Georgia. He talks a lot about his home and how special it is to him. All his friends live in Adventure Bay and are the town's special rescue team, the PAW Patrol. But his best friend is Rocky Mutt, who is deathly scared of water, ironically. He says that he and Rocky are like brothers," I said.
"Very good. Anything else I should know? What does he like to do for fun on the ship?"
"Well, let's see... Hm, he really likes the water. Sometimes he'll go swimming in the ocean. He likes his crew and playing games with them. Oh, and he's also starting to become an alcoholic," I said.
"Nice, keep up the good work. We'll wait for you to leave port, and then we'll make our attack," Black Fur said.
"And I'll just pretend to be on their side until you take the ship," I said with a smile.
"Paw-some! The seas will forever be ours. Yo ho, thieves and beggars!" Black Fur said.
"Never shall we die," I said, finishing the line.
After I was done with Black Fur, I went back to the ship. I should have been happy because I was doing my job well, and I was going to make a lot of money. But for some reason, I wasn't happy at all, and I didn't know why.
Zuma's POV
I stumbled back to the ship at about 6:00 A.M. We had spent the whole night playing games at the tavern. Jack and the crew gambled money, but I just played for fun. Unfortunately, I did drink quite a bit.
I stumbled onto the deck of the ship, not quite drunk, but not quite sober either. By the time I could think properly again, the sun had begun to rise. I made sure I had all of my crew and then gave the order to set sail.
We set out to continue our whaling. About three days later, Reef spotted something from the crow's nest, but it wasn't a whale.
"Captain, sailing vessel off port bow!" Reef shouted.
"What color?" I asked.
"She isn't flying any, sir," Reef said.
My eyes widened! I quickly grabbed my spyglass and looked off towards the ship. It was a wooden galleon with a canine crew. I watched as they raised a black flag with a white paw print on it!
"Oh, Mutts, it's Captain Black Fur. ALL PAWS ON DECK, PIRATE VESSEL OFF PORT BOW. Get the mainsails into the wind, tops, gallants, and royals. Move, you salty old sea dogs!" I shouted.
The crew now grew very afraid and started scurrying all over the place. They quickly lowered the mainsails, and we started to flee. We tried to run, but Captain Black Fur's ship, the Black Paw, was the fastest ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
"Captain, she's gaining on us. What do we do?" Jack said, with fear.
The crew all looked up at me. Feeling the pressure of the moment, I started frantically looking around for some sort of weapon we could use. Then I noticed that on our lower decks we had three rows of bronze cannons.
"ALL PAWS TO CANNONS!" I shouted, rushing towards my captain's quarters.
"But, sir, we've never had to use the cannons before. We don't know how they work," Jack said.
"Well, figure it out, or we'll die!" I shouted, heading into my quarters.
The crew all looked at Jack, who seemed to be contemplating what to do.
"Aye, you heard the Captain. Figure out how the cannons work. Move, dogs!" Jack said.
Once I was in my quarters, I found my GPS device. I wanted to know if there was a port we could stop at for protection nearby. Unfortunately, there wasn't any port close by to find help. However, I noticed that we were very near the Mer-Pup city of Puplantace. I quickly got my wetsuit and scuba pack on and headed to the lower deck.
"What are you doing, Cap?" Jack asked, with confusion.
"Going to get help. Did you find out how to work the cannons?" I asked.
Then, right on cue, one of our cannons fired a cannonball out into the ocean.
"Apparently we did," Jack said.
"Good, you're captain until I return," I said, putting my mouthpiece into my mouth.
"What, where are you going?" Jack yelled.
"To the one pup who can help us. Keep on sailing and don't stop for anything. Use the cannons if you have to," I commanded, as I leaped off into the sea.
Jack was more than shocked but kept to his orders. Meanwhile, I swam down into the city of Puplantace. I found my way to the royal palace and entered hastily to ask for help from the one pup I knew could save us, the queen of Puplantace, Coral.
"Zuma, what on earth are you doing here?" Coral said with concern.
"Coral, please, you've got to help us! My ship is being chased by the infamous pirate Captain Black Fur. Please, help!" I said through my underwater communicator.
Coral's face grew stern. She barked some orders in the Mer-Pup language. Then, she grabbed my paw and dragged me to their military barracks. Meanwhile, Jack was attempting to fight off Captain Black Fur's man-of-war.
"Alright, dogs, let's give these pirates a taste of lead. FIRE ALL!" Jack shouted.
The cannons thundered and tore into the side of the Black Paw. But the U.S.S. Wellerman was significantly smaller than the Black Paw. We had only three rows of cannons, while the Black Paw had six rows. Black Fur laughed at Jack's attempt to fight back.
"So, that's how you want to play, huh Zuma? Well, I can play dirty too. Give this pathetic whale dogs a taste of iron, dogs. FIRE ALL!" Black Fur said.
The sound of cannon fire filled the air. Row after row of cannonballs ripped through the decks of our ship. But Jack wasn't going to give up that easily.
"Reload the cannons, hurry you slugs! Come on, Zuma, where are you?" Jack said.
"Ha, ha, ha! Bring her in, boys," Black Fur said.
"Wait, Captain, there's something in the water!" shouted one of the pirate pups.
Black Fur's crew all rushed to the side and looked down. The surface of the water was covered in bubbles. Suddenly, three jagged blades with lines attached to them shot out and harpooned three of Black Fur's crew members through their jaws! The dogs screamed in pain and were quickly pulled overboard into the water.
"Mer-Pup mercenaries, get away from the edge!" Bones shouted.
Suddenly, Coral and I jumped up out of the water, riding on a sperm whale. We jumped off and landed on the deck of my ship.
"Captain!" Jack shouted with relief.
Coral turned and shouted something in Mer-Pup. Another whale jumped out of the water and cracked down on the Black Paw, splitting the ship completely in two. I watched as the Mer-Pup army slaughtered Black Fur's crew.
The crew and I started to celebrate the end of Black Fur's reign of terror. But what we didn't notice was Black Fur and his first mate, Bones, escaping in a lifeboat.
"Coral, how can I thank you for saving us?" I said.
"I should be thanking you. We've been hunting Black Fur for a while now," Coral said.
"You have?" I said, confused.
"Yeah, we Mer-Pups believe that the sea should be for everyone. Pirates think they own the sea and steal it for themselves. The Mer-Pup army hunts and kills pirates and anyone else who tries to steal the sea from free men," Coral said.
"Um, Captain, I don't mean to break up the moment, but our ship took considerable damage during the fight. We need to stop somewhere to repair the ship or she won't be able to sail again," Jack said.
"Thanks again, Coral, but I'd better get going," I said.
"You're welcome. Whenever there's a problem, just yelp for help," Coral said, using the PAW Patrol motto.
Coral turned and shouted in Mer-Pup. The Mer-Pup army responded with one loud bark. Then, Coral jumped off, transformed into

her Mer-Pup form, and swam back to Puplantace.
"We're too, Cap. I don't know how long she'll sail for," Jack said.
"I've got some friends who can help us. Max, Star, set a course for Adventure Bay," I commanded.
We sailed for five days before we reached Adventure Bay. It was a Saturday morning at approximately 9:00 A.M. when we docked at the port.
"I hope your friends know what they're doing," Jack said.
"Of course they will, they're the PAW Patrol. Let's see, I want to spend the day with them before we start repairs on the ship because it's been a while since I've seen them," I said.
"You're the boss, Captain," Jack said.
I walked up to the lookout tower. The pups were all outside doing their morning "Pup Yoga," as Chase always called it. Their eyes were all closed, so I was able to sneak up on them.
"Got room for one more, dudes?" I said.
The pups' eyes shot open and they spun around to face me.
"ZUMA!" shouted the pups all at once.
Soon, I was overrun by an assault of pink tongues.
"Zuma... hey dude... long time no see... it's been forever, dude," all the pups said at once.
Ryder noticed all the pups hugging and talking with me, and he rushed out and picked me up and hugged me.
"Oh Zuma, you've been gone forever," Rocky said.
"I know, it's so good to be back," I said.
"So what brings you back, bud?" Ryder asked.
"Oh, long story short, our ship was attacked by the infamous Captain Black Fur. Don't worry, everybody's okay... well, except for Black Fur and his crew. Coral and her army slaughtered them. And our ship was severely damaged during the fight, and I was wondering if the PAW Patrol could help us repair our ship," I said.
"Of course, buddy. We've got some training sessions today. We could take a look tomorrow after church," Ryder said.
"No rush, dude. Mind if I join you in your training? I miss training with my old pals," I said.
"Of course, Zuma, once a PAW Patroller, always a PAW Patroller," Ryder said with a smile.
We spent the whole day training, playing, and telling stories about our lives. Soon the sun began to set over Adventure Bay.
"Well, guys, I'd better get back to the ship," I said.
"Are you sure? Your pup house is still here, waiting for you," Chase said.
"Let me guess, it's still the same way I left it?" I said.
"Yeah, pretty much," Marshall said.
"Ha, ha, ha, okay, let me tell Jack that I'll be staying here tonight. Hey, Jack, I'm going to stay here with my friends tonight," I said over my pup tag.
"Okay, Cap, see you tomorrow," Jack said.
I walked into my old pup house. Its family's scents filled my lungs. I rubbed my paw along the dusty bookshelf.
"Oh, how I've missed you," I said to myself.
I turned around a few times and then laid down on my old pup bed and fell asleep. But I was unaware that Captain Black Fur still lived and was now furious with me and ready to wipe me off the face of the earth.

WHAT, Black Fur is still alive, and now he's very angry, what will happen next? Find out next time on PAW Patrol: the Wellerman.
