Hello Everybody I'm back with another Chapter, I hope you all enjoy it, I really worked hard on it and I really enjoyed writing it. Please enjoy the next Chapter in PAW Patrol: The Wellerman.
Chapter 11
I woke up the next day to Chase's megaphone. I laughed to myself and then got up and walked out of my pup house.
"Morning Zuma, did you enjoy sleeping in your old pup house?" Chase asked.
"Oh yeah I've missed it so much. I've missed everything, except your megaphone," I said.
We both laughed at my little joke.
"you going to come to church with us," Marshal asked coming out of his pup house.
"Oh yeah, sure," I said without much care.
I had never really been into religion. Sure I would go to church but only because my friends went. But that day, something changed in me.
I put on my sailor's outfit, for it was the only "nice" pair of cloths I had. Then I walked with my friends to the canine church in Adventure Bay. The Church was called Canines For Christ. I sat down with my friends in the front pew. Now this church didn't have a permanent pastor. Every week different dogs took turns giving the message. This week it was Spot, Marshal's brother, turn to speak.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God," Spot said. "This is probably the most well known verse on sin. I'm sure most of you have heard it before and probably have it memorized. It tells us that we have all sinned. "Romans 3:10, As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one." This verse says the same thing, we are all fallen and no matter how hard we try we can never become righteous enough on our own. Sometimes we think that we've done enough good to get ourselves to heaven, or we think that religion doesn't apply to us and that it doesn't matter what we do, will be okay anyway." Spot said.
This caught my attention. For once I started actually listening to what he was saying.
"Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our lord. Now this verse says that sin produces death, and that's scary to think about, because, if sin produces death, and we've all sinned. Well then that means we all deserve to die. But this verse ends by saying that there is hope. Through Christs blood on the cross we have forgiveness of our sins," Spot said looking out over the congregation.
Now conviction started to creep into my heart. But I was to deaf to listen to it.
"King David was a murder and a sexual pervert, yet he was called a man after God's own heart. Matthew was a tax collector, yet he became an apostle of Jesus Christ. And don't get me started on the possible crimes the criminal on the cross with Jesus could have committed, yet he believed that Jesus was lord and he was taken up to heaven with him. Heck look at me, I was an Arsonist, a murder, and a thief, and yet it was in that prison cell that God met me. So I tell you all today, if any of you are struggling with any sin. Call upon Jesus, and he will save you, thank you for coming out this morning," Spot said, closing out the sermon with a prayer.
After that the congregation stood and started to sing "We have an anchor." I listened to the words very carefully.
"Will your anchor hold in the storms of life, when the clouds un – fold their wings of strife? When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain, will your anchor drift, or firm re – main?
We have an – chor that keeps the soul stead – fast and sure while the bil – lows roll, – tened to the Rock which can – not move, ground – ed firm and deep in the Sav – ior's love.

We have an – chor that keeps the soul stead – fast and sure while the bil – lows roll, – tened to the Rock which can – not move, ground – ed firm and deep in the Sav – ior's love.
I walked out of church thinking deeply about what Spot had said.
"Hey Zuma," Marshal said walking up to me.
"Oh hey Marsh," I said coming back to reality.
"Good Message this morning eh," Marshal said.
"yeah Spot did a good Job, I guess," I said still thinking.
"Hey Big brother, hey Zuma," Spot said, joining us in our walk.
"Hey, Spot, uh g… good message today," I said, not quite sure what to say.
"Thanks, so what are your plans for today?" Spot asked.
"well we were going to go down to the docks and help Zuma fix up his ship," Marshal said.
"Cool, I'd like to come by and help, that is if an emergency doesn't co….
But Spot was cut off by his emergency fire tag.
"all units, we have a shed fire on 31st and main, all units please respond," said the fire dispatch.
"Uh oh, Spot Dalmatian, responding," Spot said over his tag.
"Marshal Dalmatian, responding. Sorry Zuma, we got to go, but Rocky and Rubble can help you out with your ship," Marshal said rushing off to his fire truck.
"I understand go get em Marshal," I said.
After lunch I found Rocky and Rubble and we went down to the docks together. When we got their, Jack and the Crew had hoisted the ship up on a crane so we could work on the haul. Rocky walked over and surveyed the damage. He used his claw to pull out an iron cannonball, one inch in diameter, that was lodged in the wood.
"They were shooting at you with these! You could have been killed Zuma," Rocky said with worry.
We were all silent for a few minutes. The very thought was sobering to think about. Finally Jack changed the subject.
"uh, so can you help us fix the ship, Rocky sir?" Jack asked.
"huh, oh yeah, I can fix it, Rubble and I have a lot of recycled lumber we can use," Rocky said.
Rocky and Rubble went back to the lookout and filled their trucks with wood and tools. We started replacing the damaged boards on the haul. It took us about 2 weeks, but we finally finished the repairs.
The crew and I wanted to celebrate the finishing of the repairs as well as the defeat of Captain Black Fur. So that night we invited the whole town down to the beach. We had a big bonfire and people roasted hot dogs, fish, and marshmallows.
Jack and Bay brought out some barrels of Caribbean Rum, that they got down in Nassau. I didn't drink a lot though, because all my friends were there. A little while later Pete got out his drum, Bay borrowed our keyboard, and I got out my pup guitar. And we sang some sea shanties. We sang The Wellerman, Valhalla Calling, and Old Maui, just to name a few. But then I caught sight of Ella dancing by the fire. Our eyes met and I got another idea for a song.
"The next song we'll sing is another one of our favorets, it's called Highland Girl, by Nathan Evens," I said as I started to play the song.
"So we danced all night till the sun came up
one for the road and another for luck
I didn't know, but I fell in love
in love with my highland girl
hair like fire and eyes like the sea
she danced with the wind and sings like the breeze
I didn't know but know I can see
I'm in love with my highland girl
La di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
I'm in love with my highland girl
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
I'm in love with my highland girl
I walked to the bar and looked to my left
I tried to breath but you stole my breath
you tuned away and played hard to get
but darling the night is young
the band started playing my favorite song
and that's when I caught you singing along
right then I knew that you were the one
but darling the night is young
So we danced all night till the sun came up
one for the road and another for luck
I didn't know, but I fell in love
in love with my highland girl
hair like fire and eyes like the sea
she danced with the wind and sings like the breeze
I didn't know but know I can see
I'm in love with my highland girl
La di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
I'm in love with my highland girl
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
I'm in love with my highland girl
you reached out you hand and took hold of mine
didn't notite that you'd been keeping it tight
you said "follow me everything will be fine,"
But darling the night is young" I sang.
As I sang the chorus again Ella and I locked eyes. I smiled and continued to sing the final verse.
"Oh her eyes shine like diamonds in the night
and the fairy glen upon the isle of Skye
there's a whisper in the mountains there's an echo in the glen
and I hope to god I'll see her once again,
So we danced all night till the sun came up
one for the road and another for luck
I didn't know, but I fell in love
in love with my highland girl
hair like fire and eyes like the sea
she danced with the wind and sings like the breeze
I didn't know but know I can see
I'm in love with my highland girl
La di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
I'm in love with my highland girl
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
la di-di-di, la di da
I'm in love with my highland girl," I sang finishing the song.
After the song was done I put my guitar away and went to go spend some time with Ella. But that didn't stop Pete and Bay from singing. Pete started to play "Drunken sailor" and I offered my paws to Ella. We started to dance together to the sound of Pete's drum.
"What will we do with a drunken sailor
What will we do with a drunken sailor
What will we do with a drunken sailor
Earl-eye in the morning
way hey and up she rises
way hey and up she rises
way hey and up she rises
Earl-eye in the morning
shave his belly with a rusty razor
shave his belly with a rusty razor
shave his belly with a rusty razor
Earl-eye in the morning," Pete sang.
I was exited, I was having fun, on the beach, dancing with Ella in my paws.
"Put him in a longboat 'til he's sober
put him in a longboat 'til he's sober
put him in a longboat 'til he's sober
Earl-eye in the morning."
Ella suddenly looked straight into my eyes. My heat rate begain to increase and I could fell myself starting to sweat a little. I just smiled and tried to stay chill, even though my heart was screaming at me to tell her how I felt.
"Stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe bottom
stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe bottom
stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe bottom
Earl-eye in the morning."
I laughed at the silly lyrics with her, still trying to control my racing heart.
"put him in a bed with the captain's daughter
put him in a bed with the captain's daughter
put him in a bed with the captains daughter
Earl-eye in the morning."
now it was Ella's turn to get exited. She "Charged up" And did a flip on the sand that even impressed me.
"That's what we do with a drunken sailor
that's what we do with a drunken sailor
that's what we do with a drunken sailor
Earl-eye in the morning
way hey and up she rises
way hey and up she rises
way hey and up she rises
Earl-eye in the morning
way hey and up she rises
way hey and up she rises
way hey and up she rises
Earl-eye in the morning," Pete sang finishing the song.
Ella and I landed on our paws and took a breath.
"Whew, say your not a bad dancer Ella," I said.
"You didn't do to bad, for an old lab on four paws," Ella teased.
"Hey you, I'll get you for that," I said playfully.
She giggled as I started to chase her down the beach. I didn't notice, but Chase was watching me and Ella Play together.
"hehe, hey Marshal, look at Zuma and Ella, their playing tag on the beach," Chase said.
"Aww, isn't that cute," Marshal said.
"We ought'a get those two together," Chase said.
"Don't you think we should let them do that?"
"yeah, what I mean is we need to be ready to help him if he comes to us asking for advice," Chase said.
"Oh Got ya, it would be great if those two got together," Marshal said.
"Heck yeah it would," Chase said.
Meanwhile I was hot on Ella's tail. We shot up a small hill of sand. At the top of the hill I leaped on top of her and we both rolled down the hill together. We both laughed as we laid there on the warm sand.
"Whooo, that was fun," I said.
"Oh yeah it was, ha, ha, ha, boy your a fast little pup, I take back what I said earlier about you being an old lab," Ella teased.
"Yes, Thank you," I said.
We both laughed again and stood up and shook the sand out of our fur.
"Hey you want to go get a drink? Jack and Bay got some really good Caribbean Rum down in Nassau," I said.
"Sure, It's a special occasion," She said.
Ella and I walked over to the fire and got ourselves a glass of rum. Then I took her up to the cliff to watch the stars. However I didn't notice that Hacker had seen us together and was spying on us.
Hackers POV
I had been watching Zuma all night as well as asking others about him. Then I noticed him run off towards the cliffs…. With a girl.
"Oooo, Black Fur will want to hear about this," I said quietly, for I knew that he had escaped.
I followed them at a safe distance. Eventually they laid down together on the cliff edge. They just sat there for a while before speaking.
"The stars are always so beautiful," Said the young pup.
Zuma agreed with her and started to name all the stars and constellations.
"Wow, you really know you stars," She said.
"Yeah well a sailors got too to navigate his ship," Zuma said.
"Oh Zuma," She said.
She leaned her head against his chest. He looked shocked, almost startled by this move.
"Hey, uh Ella, there's um, something I've been, uh wanting to tell you," He stuttered.
"Yeah Zuma," Ella said.
"I…. uh, I… ahh, thanks for being my friend and for being there when I need you," He said.
Ella looked a little disappointed, but then smiled at him.
"Sure Thing, any time Zumey," she said.
"Brilliant," I thought. "Black Fur Will be happy to know this." with that I quietly went back to the beach.
Zuma's POV
"Ah Stupid," I thought to myself. "That was your Chance Dude, Your chance to tell her that you love her, and you blew it." I felt like a complete idiot. Suddenly Ella laid her head down in my paws. My heart froze and I looked down at her in surprise. Before to long she was asleep. I smiled and gently laid my head on hers and fell a sleep myself.
I'd get another chance to tell her, I just wasn't ready yet. I knew I'd tell her, someday.
Aww, Zuma likes Ella, But what will happen when Captain Black Fur learns of this? Will Zuma ever get the courage to tell her, Find out next time on PAW Patrol: The Wellerman
