Panic in the Sky

(Abigail's POV)
It's been a few days since we sent out our broadcast to the other Freedom Fighter teams. Right, decorating the Meeting Room for our Victory Party. There was also a huge buffet with lots of different foods, all cooked by Antoine, & a big banner with the Mobius fixed, Sonic (in his Were he form) & Chip celebrating, & Eggman being cracked open like an egg*
Sonic: A little higher, guys!
Sally: Don't you think this is a little premature?
Sonic: Nah! Don't worry, we'll wait for Cream, Big, and everyone else to get back before the party!
Sally: I mean, celebrating at all before we've completed the mission to fix the world.
Abigail: I agree with Sally. Maybe we should hold off the party for a while.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Sonic: Girls, we've got this! The Chaos Emeralds and Gaia Keys are locked in your Dad's vault, Eggman's got no clue about the Gaia Gate . . .
Chip: And You've got me!
Sonic: See? We've got this in the bag.
Sally: I . . . Guess. It's just that we've still got to coordinate with everyone, and there's Amy, Knuckles, and Julie-Su's mission to think about, and Nicole said she detected some kind of anomaly earlier. Nicole? Any update?
Nicole*off-screen*My apologies. It's proving elusive.
Sally: Is it serious?
Nicole*off-screen*I'll let you know. What in the . . .?*she went quiet for a minute*It's Tails Doll! It's "SHRZK"
Suddenly, all the lights turned off*
Sally: Nicole!?
Then the ship jolted, knocking the buffet table over & spilling food everywhere*
Rotor: Tails Doll must've masked the enemy's approach!
Sonic: Cute. I'll handle it, real quick!
Sally: Sonic, wait! You're going to need backup! Take Bunnie, Antoine, and Abby top-side and deal with the attackers.
Sonic: Now can I handle it quick?
Sally: At Sonic Speed please!
Sonic: Whoo-ha! You've got it!
Bunnie, Antoine, Huck, & I went with him*
(Lacey's POV)
I stayed with Sally, Tails, Rotor, & Chip*
Sally: It's clear Eggman's set this up well in advance. We've got to be careful and handle this with precision. Tails! Rotor! Give Nicole support and get out systems back online! Lacey, you're with me.
She gave Nicole to Tails*
Tails: Yes, ma'am!
Lacey: You got it, Sally.
Chip: What about me, Princess? Where do you want me?
Sally: You come with me and Lacey, Chip. This may be the coordinated attack we've ever face. Tails Doll must've leaked our plans which means he'll be after you, The Chaos Emeralds, and the Gaia Keys!
(Abigail's POV)
Sonic, Bunnie, Antoine, Huck, & I were currently on top of the Sky Patrol battling the Battle Bird Armada*
Sonic: Hey, Tails! Rotor! If you've got the comms up and running again, we could really use some weapon support up here!
Antoine: I am not thinking zey can hear us!
Abigail: Looks like we're on our own for a while!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Bunnie was battling against a Badnik*
Bunnie: I hate to admit bein' overwhelmed, but . . . *she managed to pull at it's arm* HRRGH! Guys! The arm!
Antoine & Sonic jumped in & sliced the arm in half with a double Spin Dash*
Sonic: Okay, fact check. We haven't tangled with the Battle Bird Armada a lot, but it's kinda blatant that Speedy isn't the one leading the attack.
Bunnie: Hey . . . Yeah! There's no way a brat like him would pass this up!
Sonic: So if he isn't here . . . Where is he?
Abigail: I have a bad feeling . . .
(Lacey's POV)
Sally & I stood in front of a cell, where Chip was inside for safety. Soon, a red male bird with blue eyes, a yellow beak & wearing green, white, & red armor with a jetpack with two Battle Birds behind him appeared in front of us*
Speedy: Oh! The Princess herself. I appreciate a fellow noble who'll get their hands dirty.
Sally: Chip is locked out of reach. We've disabled the controls, so Tails Doll can't open the door. We regain control of our systems at any moment.
Lacey: So, I suggest you leave and crawl back under the rock you found that armor under.
He didn't answer that & just swung his metal claws at us. Sally & I tried to fight back, but just ended up getting thrown back into the cell bars*
Chip: NO! *he flew out of the cell* What's wrong with you!? They're trying to help me save the world!
Sally: Chip, no!
Lacey: Stay in the cell!
Suddenly, Speedy grabbed him*
Speedy: Thanks for being "cooperative" O Brave Spirit. This is Speedy. Target acquired. Returning to Roost. Keep the Princess and her pretty little friend company. You will be remembered and honored.
He started to leave, the two Battle Birds attacking us*
Battle Birds: For the Armada!
Sally: Stop!
Chip: Let me go! Sonic! Sally! Abby! Lacey! Somebody! Help!
Lacey: Chip!
We soon beat the Battle Birds, knocking them unconscious. But we were pretty beat up as a result. I got to an intercom to contact the others*
Lacey: "Huff!" Speedy took Chip!
Sally: Rotor, Tails, one of you get top-side and help with defenses. Sonic, Bunnie, Antoine, Abby . . .
(Abigail's POV)
Sonic & I turned towards the sky as we saw Speedy flying away with Chip in his clutches*
Sally*off-screen* . . . Stop Speedy!
Sonic took off after them*
Sonic: Chip! Hold on, buddy! I'm coming!
Suddenly, there was a explosion that shook the whole ship*
(Lacey's POV)
Sally & I jolted along with the ship*
(Abigail's POV)
Sonic: WHOA!
Abigail: AGH!
Just then, we felt the ship start to drop*
Antoine: Ze Sky Patrol! She is falling!
Sonic: They're getting away! Bunnie throw me!
Bunnie: They'll shoot you down!
Sonic: We can't let them take Chip! Throw me! *he got into a ball & Bunnie threw him after Speedy. He jumped from one Armada ship to another as he made his way. but he couldn't make it & started to fall himself* CHIP! *I quickly got on a hoverboard, with Huck on my shoulder, & flew after Bunnie, who was holding on to Antoine. she caught Sonic, but started to got down herself* Hurry! We've gotta - !
Bunnie: Hold on! Ah can't - !
Antoine: We are all falling to our doom!
Abigail: Guys!
Huckleberry: Chao!
Suddenly, we all landed on the Sky Patrol as it started to go up again, thanks to another set of rockets underneath the ship*
Sonic: Sweet! Looks like our tech geniuses got us airborne again! Let's check on everyone, and then catch us up to those feather-brains!
Antoine: So . . . No doom, then?
Abigail: No doom, Twan.
I quickly followed Sonic back inside & found Lacey & Sally struggling this get two Battle Birds inside the cell, even though they were injured badly*
Sonic: Whoa! Sal!?
Abigail: Lacey!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
We went up to them*
Sonic: You okay!?
Lacey: No. We couldn't take down Speedy's escort fast enough. He took Chip. Then the Sky Patrol fell and . . .
Bunnie threw the last Battle Bird into the cell*
Sonic: Don't sweat it! We'll chase 'em down, kick a whole flock of butts, and get Chip back!
Sally: Nrgh . . . Let's get down to engineering and see what's going on.
We made it down to the engine room & found everything a wreck. Omochao was trying to put out the fires & Rotor was checking the damage*
Rotor: And . . . Uh . . . I need another Energy Cell! Fetch, T-Pup!
T-Pup ran to get one*
Sonic: Is everyone okay down here?
Rotor: No! I've just started damage control! We're banged up, I've got no idea what's going on with Nicole . . .!
Sally: Nicole . . .?
We found Tails crying as he held his Miles Electric*
Tails: I - I'm sorry, Sally. She asked me for the Red Star Ring. Just like last time! I . . . I didn't know it would . . . *Nicole's computer was completely destroyed. behind it was a burnt mark that looked like a Red Star Ring. Sally cried as she held the wrecked device. suddenly, he was shocked* YOW!
Words appeared on his Miles Electric's screen*
I am here.
Sky Patrol's systems are a mess.
Doing what I can.
Thrusters online at least.
Need to concentrate.
Take care.
We all breathed a sigh of relief*
Rotor: Okay . . . So we're airborne and stable, thanks to Nicole. What about the engines?
Bunnie: Ah saw 'em while we were outside. The Armada blew them up.
Tails: I'll help Nicole get out systems back online. Everything's in such bad shape, where should I start?
Sally: Long-range communications. Eggman had Tails Doll spying on us this whole time. He'll know where we were hiding the Chaos Emeralds and Gaia Keys. We've got to warn my family as soon as possible. If it isn't already too late.
While I healed Sally & Lacey, everyone else started working on repairing the Sky Patrol*
Rotor: In going outside to see how bad the engines are. Sonic, can you grab some essentials and - ?
Sonic brought in a bunch of metal pipes*
Sonic: I dunno what's "essential" . . .! I'll just keep running between here and the engines and keep you supplied.
Bunnie: Ah'll come, too. . . Ah ain't a mechanic, but Ah can follow directions.
Sally: Antoine, I need you, Abby, and Lacey on standby for whatever Tails needs.
Antoine: Of course!
Lacey: We're ready, Sally!
Abigail: We'll help anyway we can!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Tails: What are we going to do about Chip, though? And the Armada? And Eggman?
Sally: I think it's safe to assume Eggman knows all about our plans to use the Gaia Gate. He'll be heading for Apotos. He'll need the Armada to deliver Chip to him. And in the worst case scenario, he's already struck New Mobotropolis. He'll need the Emeralds and Keys brought to him, too. That will take time. Time we can use. Nicole is giving everything she's got to keep Sky Patrol going. Let's not waste her efforts. Rotor's team can hopefully get us moving again. We'll try to intercept Eggman at the Gaia Gate. *while Sonic, Bunnie, & Rotor started fixing the ship outside, the rest of us turned to Tails Doll, who was strapped to a table* Meanwhile, I'm going to take out one of your tablets and find out exactly what Tails Doll knows.
Lacey: If you need me to cut him part, I can do that. It'll be like sewing in reverse.
Abigail: Just cut him up so badly, he can't tell us anything.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
A few hours later, Sally called Amy on a Miles Electric*
Sally: Amy, can you go hear me?
Amy: Yeah. Little busy right now.
Just then, there was a loud sound in the background*
Sally: What was that?
Amy: Long story, sorry. Can you make this quick?
Sally: Eggman ambushed us, on multiple fronts. We're about to launch a counter attack. If we win, the world is going to be restored earlier than planned.
Amy: Oh, crud! We'll thanks for the heads-up. *there was another loud sound in the background* Gotta go!
She hung up*
Sally: Amy what was - "Sigh"
Sonic came up to us, in Werehog form*
Sonic: Was that Amy? She, Kux, and 'Su okay?
We all sat around the Meeting Room table*
Sally: I hope so. They're tough, I know that can take care of themselves. I also got word from Gemerl. New Mobotropolis was hit hard. Metal Sonic took the Emeralds and Keys. I need some good news, please.
Rotor: We were able to salvage enough material to get the primary engine running. I can get us one fast trip, and then that's it.
Sally: All right. Nicole, could you please . . . *she remembered Nicole couldn't talk right now* . . . Right . . . Listen up. Here's the situation, and the plan. I managed to date-mine Tails Doll and found that Dr. Eggman has been gathering the Dark Gaia Energy into one spot, a base called Eggman Land. He plans to recharge the Death Egg with it's power. If that happens, it will become unstoppable. G.U.N. has also informed us that the Gaia Temples have all . . . Well, risen up and combined into . . . Something. Whatever it is, it seems it and the Death Egg are heading to Eggman Land. We have three objectives. One: Stop the Death Egg from reaching it's new power source. Two: Break Eggman's control of the Dark Gaia Energy. Three: Rescue Chip and take control of the Gaia Temples.
Bunnie: Ah take it G.U.N. ain't backin' us up on this one?
Sally: Thay don't have any flying carriers nearby. The closet one got tangled up with the Battle Bird Armada.
Tails: Man, I hate the Armada.
Abigail: You and me both, Tails.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Sally: Listen everyone, this is it. If we fail any of these missions, Eggman will control of the world. He'll keep the countries divided. He'll use the Dark Gaia Energy to power his armies and poison the people. I've never wanted to ask so much of any of you, but . . . We have to be ready to risk it all to save the world. I know I'm asking a lot . . . Asking everything of you. First, we need to delay the Death Egg. Rotor, I need you and the Sky Patrol to throw everything you've got at it. Antoine, Bunnie, Abby, Lacey, and I will try to release the Dark Gaia Energy. I don't want to unleash it on the world again, but we cannot let Eggman control it. Sonic, you're going after Chip. Strike hard, strike fast.
Sonic: As of I'd do it any other way!
Abigail: Okay! We all know what we have to do! Let's save the world, people!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
We all did a fist-bump*
All: Let's do it to it!
Soon, most of us were flying on the Tornado to the Death Egg. Bunnie, Sally, Antoine, Lacey, & I jumped off the plane*
Bunnie: Brave yerselves!
We battled against the Badniks that were waiting for us*
Antoine: Zut alors! Ze Badniks are powered by ze Dark Gaia Energy!
Sally: We can't fight them all, anyway! Focus on heading for the tower!
Just then, we heard Tails' voice through our comms*
Tails*off-screen* Sally! The refinery is being guarded by the same E-100 units that ambushed us in the desert!
Just then, were attacked by a bunch of familiar faces*
Sally: And the one from the train!
Lacey & I were attacked by the ninja Badnik that ambushed us in the desert too*
Lacey: And it's not just those four!
Tails*off-screen* Radar shows the others are heading your way!
Sally: Then we need to break through this one, now! *all six of us, including Huck, battled against the Badniks that were powered by the Dark Gaia Energy. Rotor fought against the Death Egg with the Sky Patrol. Sally & Antoine grabbed the hands of a Badnik called E-106. Lacey & I grabbed it's legs* Hood it, guys! Bunnie!
Bunnie: Oh, Ah got this!
She punched it in the face, causing damage & releasing the Dark Gaia Energy. She came back down, dizzy*
Sally: Nicely done. I wish we had Cream, Cheese, and Big backing us up, though . . . *she pulled out a Miles Electric* Tails! We took down ETA and we're pressing on to the Central Tower. Are you okay?
Tails*off-screen* Just a sec! *we looked up & saw the explosions* Sorry for the delay! IOTA is disabled. You still got three more closing in on you. Plus the Badnik horde! I'll give you cover fire I can!
Sally turned back to us*
Sally: Break's over. Ready?
Bunnie: Sho' nuff.
Antoine: Certainement.
Abigail: Always.
Huckleberry: Chao.
Lacey: Yeah.
We all got ready to keep fighting*
Sally: Let's go, Freedom Fighters!
We kept fighting all the Badniks that came at us until we made it to the tower. Sally plugged in the Miles Electric*
Bunnie: Sally? You might want to hurry this up, hon!
Sally: I'm trying! The system is bugging out!
Suddenly, all the Badniks fell to the ground, shutting down*
Antoine: Look! Ze Dark Gaia Energy is leaving ze Badniks!
Lacey: And it doesn't look like they have any animals in them this time.
Abigail: That's a relief.
Huckleberry: Chao . . .
Tails*off-screen* Sally! The city is breaking apart! We - YIPE! I'm coming in to pick you up!
Sally: We're not done yet! We've got to disable this spire before - !
Just then, the Miles Electric short-circuited*
Bunnie: It's too late! We gotta go, now!
I grabbed Lacey as I took out my hoverboard & took off after Bunnie, who had Sally & Antoine. Then we all got on the Tornado & flew away. In the distance, we could see a stone giant battling against a giant monster, who I could immediately guess was Dark Gaia*
Tails: We should be safely out of range!
Sally: I think those are relative terms at this point . . .
Antoine: Ze Death Egg . . . She is not moving . . .?
Bunnie: I'm guessin' it's finally outta gas. The Doc was pretty desperate today get that Dark Gaia Energy.
Abigail: What's got me more worried is that I don't see the Sky Patrol anywhere.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Lacey: Me neither.
Sally: Oh, my gosh! Down there!
She pointed to the Sky Patrol, which was floating in the ocean*
Tails: Hang on, guys! The hanger entrance is submerged, so I'm going to have to land us on the dome!
We made it down & found Rotor, sitting in a lawn chair with a cooler of drinks next to him*
Sally: Rotor! What - !?
Rotor: The Death Egg blew us out of the sky. Nicole's as safe as she can be in the server, but the Sky Patrol is down for the count. So grab a soda and let's watch Sonic save the world.
Tails: We can still help! I can take the Tornado and . . .
Rotor: This is a battle of the Gods, buddy. The Tornado doesn't have that kind of firepower. Let Sonic and Chip do their thing without us getting in the way.
Sally had a ln uncomfortable look on her face*
Bunnie: Ah know that look. Quit blamin' yerself, Sal. We did everything we could. You did even you could.
Sally: I know. And Rotor's right. I just wish we could do more . . .
Antoine: Be thinking of it this way, ma Princess. Doctor Eggman just lost many of his Super Badniks . . . And a whole base. Zat has to count for something, non?
Lacey: And we're all safe and sound. What else is could be better?
Sally smiled*
Sally: You're right. We're in the home stretch, and we've got two of our best up there. What they need now is faith and support.
Tails: Go get 'em guys! We believe in you!
I was quiet for a few seconds as I watched the battle begin. Then I got a serious look on my face*
Abigail: Sorry, guys. *they all turned to me* But there no way I'm sitting this one out.
I reached into my backpack & pulled out the scroll Kasa gave me*
Sally: What's that?
Abigail: Something I've been saving for a special occasion.
I opened the scroll & read it. Then I gave it to Tails & closed my eyes*
(Third-Person POV)
Abigail: Power of the Sun and Moon. Gift me with your light. Shine into the dark. Restore our fading sight! *she opened her eyes, revealing a glowing yellow in her left eye & her right eye glowing blue. her hair came undone from her ponytail & she began to rise into the air* Rise into the dawn. Blazing stars so bright!
A bright flash shot out of her body. Everyone who was watching covered their eyes*
Super Sonic: What was that!?
Abigail: Burn away the strife. Let me hope ignite! Let hope ignite!
She turned to her friends, gave them a thumbs-up, & flew towards the battle*
Bunnie: That gal never cease to amaze me.
(Abigail's POV)
I flew towards the battle & used my new power to block an attack from Dark Gaia*
Super Sonic: Whoa! Abby!? What happened to you!?
Abigail: Just a little something I got from Kasa. Don't worry. I promise I'll explain later.
Note: See chapter 121 of you forgot.
Sonic: You better. Anyway, let's finish send this guy back deep into the ground!
Abigail: Yeah!
Chip: Let's go!
We all dodged & hit it with attacks. Chip even punched it in the face*
Super Sonic: That was totally one of Knuckles' moves!
Chip: Haha! Well, I I don't think I can make this thing Spin Dash!
Abigail: Probably not. But that would still be fun to see!
Sonic: Let's keep it up! Abby and I'll keep him distracted, you put him down!
Chip: Right behind you, Sonic!
Abigail: I'm ready when you are!
We all attacked Dark Gaia together. Dodging attacks & hitting it with our own attacks. Just then, it grabbed Chip*
Chip: Ahh! Sonic! Abby! It's got me! It's charging up! I don't know if the Gaia Colossus can survive a point-blank shot!
Super Sonic: And at that angle . . . *the Sky Patrol & all our friends were in that direction* Nope. Not happening.
Abigail: Not on my watch!
Using our powers combined, Sonic & I put a shield around the Gaia Colossus, protecting Chip from the blast*
(Third-Person POV)
From a distance, Eggman was watching the battle*
Dr. Eggman*in his mind* And once again, my attempts at harnessing an eldritch elemental power fall through . . . And at great personal cost, no less! Never mind the resources . . . I really liked that amusement park! And I was so close to finally powering the Death Egg again! How am I suppose to strike fear into the hearts of my enemies when I run out of gas just getting into range!? Although . . . The raw power of the world is much more potent than I imagined. It could work just as well as the Dark Gaia Energy. If I could find a way to siphon it . . . Some place remote where Sonic wouldn't find me and ruin my plans again . . . *he flew back to the Death Egg* Bah! That's plotting for another day. I need to get out of range of Dark Gaia, or the Freedom Fighters, if they manage to rally!On the other hand . . . *he stopped & looked back at Abigail, who was still glowing* I am curios about that glowing cat . . . Oh, well. Like I said, that's for another day.
(Abigail's POV)
Dark Gaia started to slow down*
Chip: S - Sonic . . . Abby . . . That shot weakened it . . .
Super Sonic: Gotcha covered.
Abigail: On it!
We both hit Dark Gaia at the same time, right in the center eye, causing it to fall back into the lava below. Then we floating down to Gaia Colossus' open hand. Then we both powered down, exhausted*
Sonic: Another . . . Ancient God-Thingy busted. But . . . Uh . . . Chip? I'm . . . I'm all out of "Super" . . . And there're Dark Gaia leftovers staring to come up . . .
Abigail: And I'm all tuckered out from using all that power. Whatever it was.
Chip: You both have done more than your share. Now it's time to complete my duty as the Light Gaia and restore the world!
Around the world, I could feel the joy of all the people we've met on our journey & all our friends as the world was restored*
Sonic: Whew! We did it, Chip. We saved the world. Now we can start partying!
Chip: Sonic . . . I would love nothing better . . . But it's time I joined my darker half in the planet's core.
Abigail: W - Wait? What?
Sonic: Whoa! Hold on! Can't that wait? You . . . You've earned a victory lap!
Chip: I've spent all my power on that fight. And the longer I delay, the more we risk Dark Gaia seeping back into the world. I will take the Temples with me. Out of Dr. Eggman's reach. I'll seal this last wound in the world to keep you all safe.
Sonic: Great, but . . .
Abigail: Chip . . .
Chip: I don't need a reward, guys. *both me & Sonic were cases in green bubbles* The greatest reward was adventuring with you.
(Lacey's POV)
Chip*off-screen* You and all your friends. Tails! Rotor! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with me. Antoine! Bunnie! Your love for each other showed me just what I was meant to protect in this world. Sally! Your bond with Nicole . . . I could see why you could easily accept a spirit like me. Please tell her "goodbye" for me. Lacey! You're kindness and amazing sense of style have shown me what life can truly mean to many people.
All of us had tears in our eyes as we heard Chip's voice*
(Third-Person POV)
In New Mobotropolis, Cream, Cheese, & Big were having tea when they heard his voice*
Chip*off-screen* Cream! Cheese! Big! I wish I could be closer when I say farewell, my friends.
Cream: M - Mr. Chip?
(Julie-Su's POV)
On Angel Island, Amy, Knuckles, Julie-Su, Relic, & Fixit also heard his voice*
Chip*off-screen* Amy! Knuckles! Julie-Su! Thank you for inspiring me with your passion!
Relic: . . . Y - You three did hear that, y - yes?
(Abigail's POV)
Sonic & I landed back on the Sky Patrol, the bubbles popping*
Sonic: You're the best, Chip! I'm gonna miss you, Buddy!
Abigail: We'll never forget you!
Chip: And I'll never forget you. I'll be here with you always. A part of the earth you tread.
And with that said, the hole in the ground closed. Sonic shook & I wiped away a tear*
Sally: Sonic?
Sonic: . . . It isn't fair, Sal. We get to keep going on. He doesn't. I didn't . . . I couldn't . . .
Sally: You did save him, Sonic.
Tails: You saved us all! And like Chip said, he finally got to love his life, not just fulfill his destiny!
Sonic held back tears as he held on to Tails' shoulder*
Sonic: Heh . . . I guess you're right. *just then, his hand started to glow. he opened it & saw Chip's necklace in his palm. he put it around his wrist* Thanks. Bring it in, guys. Chip may be sleeping, but we're definitely still up! *we all stood together, shoulder to shoulder as we watched the sun rise* And we're just in time for the best sunrise the world's ever seen!
I smiled as I watched the sun peak out over the horizon with my friends. Just then, I heard something*
Ah ah, ah ah
I looked around, but no one was there*
Abigail: Hey, did you guys hear someone singing?
Sonic: I didn't hear anything.
Sally: Me neither.
Everyone else just looked confused & shook their heads*
Abigail: Huh. Must've imagined it.
Little did I know, was that the singing I heard, was only the beginning of a magical adventure*
