A/N #2: I was glad to get the feedback for the last chapter I did, so I'll start on my thank yous for that! TORONTOSUN (I was pleased you liked the details of Disneyland along with the characters. And great you thought the last chapter was very well done too!) and
Mb (I always try my best to get the lyrics I use for chapter titles to work for the plot of the chapter so to see I managed to do that for the last one was great! And I'm glad I managed to get a different perspective of the park through Josie's eyes. I've been to Disneyland repeatedly since I was a kid but that was… some time ago so I was really happy I managed to do that through Josie's eyes! You're welcome for the first half of the chapter! Really pleased reading you thought the second half of the chapter was wonderfully written! And not surprised you're still jealous and want to go to Disney. I do too, though my weather wasn't so cold as yours, definitely keep warm! And I was glad you thought this was a nicely done chapter too! You're welcome for the second half of the chapter!).
Thanks for the reviews, I loved reading them and appreciate the time taken to write them out and send them my way!
A/N #3: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song Sway written by Norman Gimbel, from the Dean Martin album Hey, Brother, Pour the Wine.
Sway With Ease
"Mama?" Josie said, peering through the doorway of the McDouglas' laundry room.
"I'm here sweetie," Beckett said, smiling back at her. "What did you want?"
"Why did I stay?" Josie asked.
"Because you're going to the show with us tonight," Castle said, stepping up behind the toddler.
Seeing the way Josie's eyes went wide at her father's voice, Beckett couldn't help smiling again. "Did she get away from you?" she asked her husband as she set the washing machine to start.
"She did but I was close behind," Castle said.
"Sorry?" Josie whispered, looking at him.
"Yes, next time ask me if you can leave," Castle told her firmly before he picked her up.
"Your daddy's right, we're all going to the show tonight," Beckett said, stepping up to them and sharing a kiss with her youngest. When she pulled back she was a little surprised at the expression on her husband's face and asked, "What?"
"Mind if I get a little of that?" Castle asked.
Beckett couldn't help laughing outright and she said, "Fine," leaning into him.
Smiling as she watched her parents kissing, Josie looked at the dryer and then asked when the two had parted, "Our cl… clothes?"
"They are," Beckett replied as she followed them back into the kitchen. "And I know we're going home tomorrow Rick-"
"No, to be honest I thought about it and it makes more sense to do it now," Castle interrupted. "Since you'll want to play or bowl or something."
"Or something," Beckett said wryly. "I think it's more unpacking and seeing the rest of our family."
"True," Castle said. "Should we do something special?"
"I would wait to ask Alexis and Louis," Beckett replied. She watched him looking at his watch and she smiled asking, "Is it time to go yet?"
"Almost," Castle said, letting her take his arm and look at the time.
"We should start getting ready to leave," Beckett told him firmly. They shared a smile shortly after when their youngest was cheering and they moved to grab what they needed to meet everyone else at the Promenade.
"I still say it's unfair," Castle was telling Beckett as she drove their car once they'd left the house.
"They're only there for camera blocking," she responded when she stopped at a red light. "They're not going to see the costumes or anything else."
Making a face briefly, Castle said as the light changed, "I know, and it was nice to spend time with Josie."
"But?" Beckett asked him teasingly.
"No, I'm trying not to be jealous of our parents," Castle said. He smiled when she laughed briefly and he squeezed her hand before they were in the parking garage and she was parking the car.
"Don't mention it to them," Beckett said, seeing the others were just pulling in after them.
"I won't," Castle said, glancing back at Josie. "Hopefully she won't either." He wasn't surprised when his wife was rolling her eyes before they were getting out of the car.
"Hey," Julia said as she and her sister were hurrying over to their family.
"That's it, hey?" Castle asked jokingly.
Julia couldn't help laughing with Eliza before she said, "How was it at the house?"
"We played!" Josie said eagerly, hugging her big sisters at the same time.
"She's right, we did and I did some laundry," Beckett said. She turned to Skye who was walking up to them and said, "I'll finish when we're back."
"Oh don't worry, I'm just here to assure you both their lessons in the dip went well," the investigator related.
Smiling Beckett said, "Thank you, we were about to ask them."
"Yeah, things went really… well," Julia said swiftly seeing both her parents were looking at her. She smiled and then said, "I was going to say."
"We should go," Skye said. "It's getting late and we all need to eat, dancing or no."
"They still allow people to dance before the show starts, right?" Castle asked.
"They do, and I'm jealous you guys will have that chance," Skye replied.
"I told you we could backstage," Mary said to her wife in mock annoyance as their group was approached by the other. She then smiled at the other three and said, "They're ready."
"We heard," Castle said. "Now that we're sure the three are okay and ready, where the heck are we going?"
"We haven't decided," Skye said simply as they were making their way over to the exit.
"We're not going to have to do numbers again are we?" Castle asked in a mock complaining tone, smiling when the kids were laughing.
"No, it's either the pub, Barney's or maybe P.F. Chang's?" Skye said, saying the last in a hesitating and questioning tone.
"What's the plan for tonight?" Beckett asked.
"Well, you lot are heading back home tonight," Skye replied. "I told you I'd get you an early flight in the morning."
"We decided we'd rather sleep on the flight," Beckett reminded her.
"Fine, since you're going to leave I thought we could go to the In-N-Out unless you guys wanted to just go to the terminal," Skye replied.
"I think the kids like that idea better," Jim said since they were gasping in excitement. "I do too, we don't need to get to the airport until nine-thirty."
"How're you going to handle Josie at that time?" Skye asked.
"Hold her, we'd take her stroller but you know we can't," Beckett replied. "And we're in first class so she'll have a bed."
"Who's going to be with her?" Mary inquired, aware of the layout of their plane since her wife had gotten the tickets for them.
"Me," Beckett said firmly.
"I'm across from them with Eliza," Castle commented.
"Is anyone one their own?" Marie asked, knowing how their seats would be since they'd flown on the same route in the same kind of plane.
"I will be," Jim said.
"I'll be with Peter since we know his parents would want someone with him," Martha said. "And we'll be across from the girls."
"Good plan," Skye said with a smile. "So now we have dinner set, I think we can take Barney's out of our choices. And since we live here," she said, motioning to herself and her family. "I think you'll have to choose."
"We'll pick the pub," Castle said, looking at his wife who had nodded her head.
"We can tell the girls want to go," Beckett added before they were looking at the kids.
"Is that alright?" Mary said with a smile to the girls.
"Definitely, we wanted to pick there," Marie said.
"And then we can get McConnell's right?" Fleur asked hopefully.
"We will," Skye said in amusement before they were continuing to walk again. "Oh I did forget to say, only one scoop for you lot."
"That's okay," the kids except for Josie said at the same time before they were laughing and heading to the restaurant first.
Once they'd reached it they were seated inside at a long table and Liam said to the writers, "We're sorry we were allowed to go."
"Don't worry," Beckett said. "We know Julia wants us to wait to see anything."
"Do I need to apologize?" the teen herself asked though she was smiling.
"No, we're used to it," Castle said. "Though it's funny you didn't let your sister see."
Josie giggled at the mention before she said, "Jules said I can see with you."
"I did," Julia said when her baby sister was looking at her. "And I told her it would be special since she wasn't sure about going with us or staying with you."
"Really?" Castle said, looking at the toddler.
"Wait," Beckett told Josie when she was opening her mouth to speak. "We need to order." She smiled when the toddler was nodding her head rapidly and she watched the older kids starting at the end of the table.
Watching his wife order for herself and Josie, Castle wasn't surprised to find he and Beckett were getting the same thing. Once they were alone again he said, "Really?"
"You're mad?" she asked in amusement.
"No, I wasn't expecting that," Castle replied swiftly. "But I know you're sharing with her." He glanced at Josie in her chair between them and asked, "Her choice?"
"It was," Beckett said with a smile. "She wanted a grown up meal."
"Really? That breaks my heart you now," Castle told their youngest who he'd been able to tell was listening to them both.
"Why?" Josie asked, her eyes wide.
"Because you're not even three yet," Castle said.
"Rick," Beckett said when she knew she wouldn't laugh as she spoke.
"Too much?" Castle asked her.
"A little, her birthday is coming up," Beckett reminded him.
"We wish we could be there as well," Skye told the family.
"It's why we celebrated a little on the cruise," Castle said.
"Slightly, have you thought about including her in the celebration?" Skye asked. She saw the way Castle was looking at his wife and she said to Beckett, "You don't want to?"
"It seems unfair to Rick and Eliza," she explained.
"Have you asked them… let me rephrase that," Skye said, correcting herself in a rush. "Have you asked Eliza? I can already see what Rick wants to do."
"I did," Castle said. "And she's fine with it. She actually asked if we could include Alexis but I told her it was a little too far."
"He'd want us to celebrate all our birthdays on that day," Beckett said in amusement. "So I think we're okay."
"It would only be one gift," Castle told his wife.
"Alright," Beckett said, squeezing his hand. "If you two don't mind we'll celebrate that way next year." She wasn't surprised when he nodded rapidly and she turned to Skye asking, "What about the band?"
"They had to get to their hotel," the investigator answered. "And Adam needed to go to the studio he's recording at for his newest music video."
"When is it going to be released?" Julia asked.
"In a few months," Skye said. "And yes it's the song we recorded with him."
"We can't hear it tonight?" Castle asked.
"Not going to happen," Skye replied. "And I mean literally it can't, we're going to leave for dinner as soon as us performers are finished." She paused and then said, "It really isn't going to be that late once we finish."
"We couldn't watch the planes for a little?" Castle suggested.
"We will," Skye said with a smile. "I should have just asked if you wanted to do that."
"Speaking of asking," Mary said. "We're all set with Japan."
"I told you we were," Skye said with a frown before her wife was glancing at Castle.
"I mainly let her get everything," he said. "So if she says we are, we are," speaking that in a rush since he could see their food was arriving.
Since she was sharing the fish and chips with Josie, Beckett quickly split her food and put it on the plate the waitress had bought. "Don't eat only the fries," she told the toddler firmly.
"I won't Mama," Josie said seriously before she was picking up a fry.
"I'll watch her too love," Castle assured her when he saw the expression on his wife's face.
"I won't Mama," Josie said, surprised when her mother was laughing. "Dada why?" she asked him.
"I don't think she was expecting you to answer her like that," Castle said, fighting his own laughter at the expression on the toddler's face.
"I wasn't," Beckett then took up. She squeezed Josie's hand and said, "Keep eating." Returning to her own food, she asked Skye about what they'd do with the house to themselves again and the McDouglases were discussing their plans for that night and that week. She and Castle were asked about theirs and since they didn't have anything special they changed the subject to Easter.
"It's interesting," Castle said when they were wrapping up their meal and paying. "Or it will be interesting I should say, the twins' first."
"Are they going to look for eggs?" Mary asked with a smile.
"We haven't asked their parents yet," Beckett said. "And they'll only be five months."
"Let us know," Skye said before she and Castle had their cards back. Standing she said to her daughters, "No store this time."
"And no groaning," Mary added when all five girls were doing so. "We came not that long before the cruise, so we're good."
"We're still getting ice cream?" Iris asked. When her mothers nodded she sighed and said, "Okay."
"Thanks for agreeing," Skye said wryly before they were leaving the table. As they walked back to 3rd Street she went to Beckett and asked, "How is she going to be?"
"We have to walk down to the ice cream don't we?" Beckett replied.
"Yes, and to be honest it'd probably be better for the dancers to do that too," Skye said, not surprised when the writer was nodding in agreement. "Then we better go."
"We get to go now!" Eliza said eagerly after hearing that.
"I know, I'm glad because then we can shop a little bit," Ivy said. She paused for a step and then said, "Do we?"
"We didn't ask Mum and Mom but we'll see after the ice cream," Kathleen told her sister.
Walking down the street, the kids led the group until they were reaching the end of it and stepping into the ice cream shop. Since it was a Monday there were only a few people in front of them and they were soon sitting around the topiary dinosaur fountain in the middle of the street.
"What're you thinking?" Beckett asked her husband as they were sitting in silence for a while.
"Nothing," Castle said. He did his best not to laugh when she was nudging his side immediately and he said, "Sorry, could I try yours?"
"I've been waiting for you to ask," Beckett said, feeding him some of her lemon and marionberry ice cream.
"Nice," Castle said after he'd eaten it. "Mine?" he asked her. He was only slightly startled when her response was to take some of his chocolate peanut butter brownie.
"Yes, it's good," Beckett said before she turned immediately to Josie. "What're you doing?" she asked since the toddler was peering down at the water next to them.
"I look for fishies," Josie said firmly.
"I don't think there are any here," Castle said. He was about to tell her to sit with them when the toddler was moving to his lap. "I think," he said to his wife.
"Me too," Beckett replied with a smile before they were watching her snuggling against his chest. They were both silent and as soon as Josie was asleep she took her husband's cup so he could put her in her stroller.
"So, where shall we go in the time we have?" Skye asked once they were all standing together.
"I think it's obvious the bookstore needs to be one of the stores," Castle said firmly.
"It will be," Skye replied with a nod. She smiled and then said, "Anywhere else? And not the toy store," adding the last swiftly before she was looking at her daughters. When the kids didn't say anything she asked, "Really?"
"I think that's all Mum," Marie said.
"Okay, then we better go," Skye said before they were turning to walk up the street. "And at least this way we'll get our walk in."
"I'm fine," Liam told his daughter when she had turned to him.
"Just checking," Skye replied with a smile before she was turning her attention ahead.
"Are you ready for tonight?" Beckett asked her friend.
"Stage fright?" Skye immediately responded with her own question. They were laughing before she said, "It's why I appreciate rehearsals like that; gets the nerves settled." She studied her friend and then asked, "You can't wait to see can you?"
"No," Beckett replied firmly before they were laughing again and watching their daughters ahead of them as they approached Santa Monica Boulevard.
"You know," Castle said to the girls. "We never asked how it was meeting Shangela."
"It was great," Julia replied swiftly as she smiled. "She was really nice."
"Was she…" Castle started to say before gesturing in front of his face.
"No, but she said if we wanted to call her Shangela while she was teaching us we could," Mari said with a smile.
"She was super nice," Eliza then said. "She even said Halleloo to us," she added, smiling widely herself.
"Why did she?" Beckett asked. "You've seen this dress before," she added since her husband and the girls were all looking at her.
"I don't think that matters," Castle said, walking over to where she was standing. He shared a brief kiss with her and then said to the girls, "Actually I want to know why she said it too."
"Because they got the dip so fast," Eliza said before her sister or Mari could respond.
"Lizzy learned it too," Julia couldn't stop herself from saying though her little sister was wincing shortly after. "Sorry," she whispered to her.
"Where were your grandparents?" Beckett asked, sitting on the side of the bed to put on her heels.
"Not there," Eliza said. "So I begged them to let me learn. Skye and Mary were watching… and they gave me permission."
"So they're to blame," Castle said jokingly. He couldn't help laughing when the girl nodded rapidly and he said, "It's fine, Shangela does know what she's doing."
"I thought the same," Beckett replied, standing up. "But no more dipping until you're older… or you have a mat. You didn't practice that without one did you?"
"No, Skye and Mary said it was only going to be on a mat," Eliza replied. She was smiling and then said, "It was fun."
"Did you get it?" Castle asked.
"Yeah, it took me a little but I did in the end," Eliza replied while she nodded her head.
"Mama no!" Josie protested when her mother was picking her up off the bed.
"We have to go sweetie," Beckett told her.
"Your dress Mama," Josie said, still protesting.
"It's fine," Beckett assured her. "Believe me, I've worn it a lot," she added, since she had her blue lace dress.
"Love?" Castle asked while they were making their way downstairs.
"Yes?" Beckett asked, speaking a little absently.
"Where will we change for the flight?" Castle said.
"Backstage at the show," Julia answered before her mother could say anything to that.
"Really?" Beckett said.
"Yeah, I asked and said we were going to fly so they said it was fine if all you did was change," Julia replied.
"Great, I don't want to wear this suit on the flight," Castle commented as they were reaching their luggage. "Where are your things?" he asked the girls while Julia was opening the front door.
"On the patio; Skye told us to put them there," Eliza explained.
"Perfect," Castle said, spotting them backlit by the lights of the family room on the patio.
When the group reached the house, the others were stepping out onto the patio before they were moving to the garage and driveway to load the cars with the luggage first. They then split up and Skye drove her car back out to the studio for the show and once they were parked they were splitting up again.
"There they are," Adam said. "The dancers."
Julia couldn't help laughing and said teasingly, "Why do you sound disappointed?"
"I'm not, but too bad we couldn't dance," Adam replied.
"You don't mind just singing back up?" Skye asked him.
"Oh no," Adam said. "Don't bring that up again."
"Sorry, I'm not trying to steal your position," Skye told him. She paused and then made a face before asking, "Did that make any sense?"
"Sort of," Adam said before they were laughing and walking inside the building.
"We have some time," Skye said to the three kids. "So I hope you'll be alright just spending it in your dressing rooms."
"What time should we change?" Julia asked.
"In about forty minutes," Skye said before she noticed a stagehand making their way towards them.
At the same time the others were led to their dressing rooms, Castle and Beckett were settling on their seats at the edge of the dance floor.
"This is new," Castle commented since their group was seated to Bruno's left.
"It works, I think the other side is where the families sit," Beckett said with a smile. "Sweetie don't squirm," she told their youngest who was sitting in between them.
"Can I dance?" Josie asked hopefully as she peered up at her mother.
"Not yet," Beckett replied. "But we will dance once they say we can."
"You're going to dance with me right Josa?" Eliza asked, leaning past their father.
"Yeah," Josie said with a big smile on her face. "Just us," she said, repeating what her sister had told her.
"We will," Eliza said laughingly before they were leaning back in their seats.
"Should we argue that?" Castle asked his wife.
"I don't think so," Beckett said, her laughter very evident in her tone. She looked out at the dance floor while the room was filling up and she did her best not to look at her watch before they were finally allowed to dance. As their two youngest had said they were dancing together though soon their grandparents were getting them to dance with them. "We should have told them," she told her husband since they'd been together since the music had started.
"They figured it out," Castle said. They were quiet for a moment before he said, "I hope they're not bored."
"By now they're likely dressed and practicing," Beckett said with a smile before she laughed when he spun her and kept his arm around her waist to hold her close.
"I bet you anything," Julia said, looking up at the TV screen that was backstage. "Lizzy and Josa are dancing on their own… or with our grandparents, to let our parents dance alone."
"I'm not betting against that," Mari said before she and her friend were turning to Peter.
"What?" he asked, startled at their stares. He frowned a little when the two were beginning to laugh and he said, "Girls."
"Sorry, but you better not let Eve hear you say that," Julia teased him. "We were just talking about my parents dancing out there."
"Oh, I'm not betting either, I know they're out there," Peter said quickly.
"You aren't dancing with Mary," Mari said to Skye as she was walking over to them.
"We did before you lot came out from your dressing rooms," the investigator replied. "Are you ready?"
"I am," Peter said, looking at his partners.
"We both are," Julia said, having been looking at Mari and seeing her nod. She turned back to the investigator and said, "How much longer?"
"You're about a half hour in," Mary said.
"Don't forget us," Brian May said, walking up to them.
"We didn't, we didn't see you," Julia said with a smile.
"Are you all ready?" Mari asked.
"Are we dressed for the performance you mean?" Roger said, walking up to them.
"Adam?" Brian added.
"I'm here," the singer said in mock annoyance. "What?" Adam asked laughingly when he saw the way the others were all staring at him.
"I'm surprised," Skye said jokingly.
"Oh, just because I wear what I do on tour," Adam said, affecting the same tone he'd had before. "This one isn't a concert so I thought I'd go a little more simple."
"I like your… coat?" Julia asked before asking at the end.
"Coat," Adam said with a smile. "You don't have one?"
Shaking her head Julia said, "At the Rothschild I just wore this."
"You look great," Adam said before he was taking off his silver and black brocade coat.
"What-" Julia started to say before she was interrupting herself by laughing after he'd draped the fabric over her shoulders. "I can't wear this," she told him.
"You don't think you could dance?" Adam asked, helping her put her arms in the sleeves.
"Hold on," Skye said, unable to help the laughter in her tone. "Look at how far it's hanging down. You're about to hinder your future dance partner."
"I wanted to see if she could," Adam said. "Mari? Peter?"
"I'm good," the latter said swiftly. "I have my own jacket."
Before anyone could respond to that, they heard the announcement the show was about to start and the three kids were allowed to head to the Sky Box. They watched the stars and their partners being announced and being filmed before the first couple to dance was announced.
"Are you three going to wait here with us?" Wayne Brady asked as he reached the Sky Box with his partner first.
"Yeah, just until… I think it's Shangela and Gleb," Julia answered.
"Oh good, I wanted to watch you dance," the drag queen said since she and her partner were with them.
Julia smiled before she said, "We wanted to watch you guys."
"And you will," Wayne said as the footage ended and they were turning to watch the next dance.
As the next dances went on, Beckett was surprised that Skye wasn't up in the Sky Box but soon the performance from Queen was announced after the next commercial break. She glanced up at the box and saw Julia, Mari and Peter were gone before she murmured to her husband, "They left."
"I saw," Castle said, nodding. He then said with a smile, "Are you going to take Josie?"
"She needs to learn to stay still," Beckett said firmly as she was turning her attention to their youngest. "Josie," she told her.
"I want to go dance Mama," the toddler replied.
"I know but your sister's going to dance soon and we can't interrupt her," Beckett said soothingly. "You'll dance another time."
Slumping a little, Josie said, "Okay."
"You'll be able to watch right now though," Castle said on the other side of her.
"Now?" Josie said before she was looking at the stage. She bounced a little seeing Julia was there with Peter and Mari but kept quiet as her mother wrapped her arm around her. "I am quiet Mama," she said in a whisper.
"I know and thank you," Beckett told her with a smile before the countdown to the show returning from the commercial break started at the opposite end of the room.
"Daddy," Eliza told him in a rush. "Can I sit there instead?"
"Sure," Castle said as he was moving to switch with her.
"Hi," Josie said with a smile at her sister.
"Hi, but shh, they're going to start," Eliza whispered before they were looking up at the Sky Box where the host Alfonso Ribeiro was introducing the performance.
"And to accompany the band Queen and Adam Lambert, dancing a Trio Jive the Rothschild champions of 2022 Peter Lennox and Julia Castle with Marianne Foster," he said before the audience was applauding.
Breathing in deeply, Julia waited for the song to begin before they looked from the bottom of the stairs where they were standing to the judge's table. She smiled seeing her family in the front row looking up at Skye who was standing next to the end of the table and Bruno, holding her bass guitar to her side, while she sang the intro of the song.
When I hear
That rock and roll
It gets down to my soul
When it is real rock and roll
Oh, rock and roll
When I hear
That rock and roll
It gets down to my soul
When it's real rock and roll
Oh, rock and roll
Oh, oh, oh, oh
As she was singing, Skye made her way to the middle of the dance floor and by the time the music changed at the second to last lyric she was ready to move out of the way when the lights went off her. At the first oh she sang, Peter was sliding into the spotlight that had appeared in front of him. He spun at the second oh and Julia was sliding into her spotlight, spinning herself. On the third oh, Mari entered the spotlight in between the other two and they spun at the same time before Roger was singing while he was playing the drums on the stage.
You really think they like
To rock in space?
Well, I don't know, what do you know?
What do you hear
On the radio?
Coming through the air
Beckett smiled watching the trio dancing together for that verse the same they'd done in London. She examined them on the pre-chorus closely, since that had been changed from the original dance though she wasn't surprised when she saw it.
I said Mama
I ain't crazy
I am alright, alright
Taking Mari's hand, Julia helped her rise after she did the splits and she did the same before they were standing in a line with Peter to do their kicks and flicks. She was relieved it had worked out, since Ms. Grey hadn't been sure about them doing so many splits in the original choreography before she focused on the chorus and the dance moves there.
Hey, c'mon baby, said it's alright
To rock and roll on a Saturday night
I said shoot and get your suit
And come along with me
I said c'mon baby down
Come and rock with me
I said yeah
After Peter had dipped her on the last lyric of the chorus, Julia spun as he pretended to do that to her before she was going to Mari who had been spinning herself behind them.
What do you do
To get to feel alive?
You go downtown
And get some of that prime jive
The three were continuing their kicks and flicks and other moves across the dance floor for the pre-chorus and chorus that time. They kept that the same as they had at the Rothschild, though they'd only danced to the first instance of the chorus in the song to keep to their time limit.
I said Mama
I ain't crazy
I am alright, alright
Hey c'mon baby said it's alright
To rock and roll on a Saturday night
I said shoot and get your suit
And come along with me
I said c'mon baby down
Come and rock with me
I said yeah
We're gonna rock it
At the end of the chorus, the three gestured to the stage where Brian began playing his guitar solo and the lights on the dance floor went dark for the spotlight on him.
"I'm glad we get a break," Julia said in a whisper to Mari while they were standing in place since they would be dancing again in the same spot.
"I know, and a second one too," Mari replied in a low voice. They were watching Brian closely to see where they would need to start and when they got close she and Julia were shifting their feet a little before the chorus began again.
Hey c'mon baby said it's alright
To rock and roll on a Saturday night
I said shoot and get your suit
And come along with me
I said c'mon baby down
Come and rock with me I said yeah
We're going to rock it
Ow, we're going to rock it… tonight
Julia, Mari and Peter got back into a line after they'd danced up the steps to the stage and walked back the way they'd come, clapping the beat at the first three lines to get the audience to do so too. After that they gathered back together to dance again, doing so for the rest of the song before they reached the lyric where down was sung by Roger and then Skye and Adam. They performed their Jazz splits in a row before they were doing some kicks and on the last word of the song, tonight, they were doing their dips to the floor.
We want some prime jive
We want some prime jive
We're gonna rock it tonight (We want some prime jive)
C'mon honey (We want some prime jive)
We're rocking tonight
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
We're rocking tonight
C'mon honey we're rocking tonight
Get some of that prime jive
Get some of that prime jive
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon honey
Get some of that prime jive

C'mon honey, c'mon honey
We're going to rock it tonight
Beckett immediately stood as soon as the song was over and the audience was applauding. She was doing the same but she was watching the three as they were standing up with Alfonso helping Peter while Julia helped Mari.
"They're fine," Castle murmured to his wife.
Nodding, Beckett sat back down since the host was taking the three over to the judge's table, telling the audience in his microphone that they wanted to talk to the kids.
"That was great," Derek said when Alfonso called on him first. "I helped you guys flesh out the dance of course so good thing I'm not going to judge this," he added, smiling when the three were laughing and nodding. "But you already had that very complicated choreography and I think everyone can agree we're hoping you guys might join the show when you're older."
"Not yet," Julia said quickly, blushing at the way the audience was applauding especially her family.
"Alright, Bruno you have some words you'd like to say to the kids," Alfonso then said.
"It was magnificent!" the judge said, standing up and making a gesture, the kids starting to laugh. "I agree with Derek that was very difficult choreography and I think your splits were very well done. Like he said I hope you'll be back."
Julia thanked him along with Mari and Peter before they were turning their attention to Carrie Ann when Alfonso called to her.
"You three won at the competition for a reason," she began with. "Even if more was added so you'd be dancing for the whole song, there was a lot to it all the way through. And though you're young, we're counting on you three to be on the show again."
"You have that invitation from all of us," Derek said with a smile before they were all laughing with the kids.
After they'd thanked the judges, Julia went with her friends up to the Sky Box though to her surprise they were stopped by Skye and Mary who had come down from the stage.
"You might want these, Shangela is on after the break," the investigator told the three.
"Thanks," Julia said with her friends before they were hurrying on up where Shangela was hugging her since she was first to step off the stairs.
"Are you okay?" the drag queen asked them.
"We are," Peter assured her before Julianne was calling the three over to her.
"We've got a little time to interview the three of you before we have a commercial break," she said. "How're you three feeling?"
"Great," Peter said, leaning a little to the microphone.
"Glad it's over," Mari added before they were laughing with the others in the Box.
"I heard that you choreographed this mainly Julia," Julianne said to the teen.
"With our dance teacher, it was mostly Ms. Grey," Julia said, feeling her cheeks were heating up and hoping she wasn't blushing visibly.
"And you're all being invited back to the show, do you think you'll come back?" Julianne asked.
"I think so, but… we're still in school so we'd have to come back in the spring," Peter said in slight embarrassment, speaking when Julia nudged him slightly.
"We'll look forward to having you back, as long as we get a great performance from the band as well," Julianne said before the audience and everyone in the Sky Box was applauding.
"I wonder if they're doing anything as strenuous in the other dance," Martha said to the others when the show went to commercial after Alfonso had teased Shangela and Gleb dancing.
"I never asked," Beckett said.
"I know, I was just thinking that we should have asked them," Castle said as he took Josie onto his lap.
"I don't think they would have answered," Jim said with a smile.
Beckett sighed and said, "You're right but…"
"It's too late now," Castle said before he was turning to Eliza who was getting her mother's attention.
"How long until the commercial is over?" Eliza asked.
"They'll let us know when the show is coming back," Beckett assured her. She then put her hand on her back and asked, "Are you tired?"
"No, tired of sitting," Eliza replied.
"Then stand up until the show comes back on," Beckett told her, helping her to do so. There wasn't much time until a cast member was calling that the show was about to return and she and her husband hurried to get their youngest on their seats. She wasn't surprised when they were both quiet and still watching Shangela and Gleb dancing shortly in front of them. She laughed with the audience when Julia, Maria and Peter in the Sky Box were waving fans that read the drag queen's catchphrase as they went up.
"Mommy?" Eliza asked after the pair had gotten their scores.
"Yes?" Beckett asked, turning to her since it was another commercial break.
"When will Jules dance again?" Eliza inquired.
"About a half hour," Castle answered when his wife looked at him, peering at his watch. "Maybe a little longer." He shared a smile with his wife when both their daughters groaned in disappointment before they let them get up and walk a little before the show returned again.
