Izuku gets up the next day ready to battle the gym and get his next badge. He goes downstairs and sees his Dad sitting at the island drinking coffee while his Papa is making breakfast. "So are you challenging the Gym today?" Dad asks after he takes another drink of coffee.
"Yeah I'm going to head down to that station after eating," Izuku replies while helping plate the food. They all sit down and have breakfast while having a nice conversation catching up on what's been happening at Nimbasa Subway and Izuku's adventures to Nimbasa City. After they finish eating, Izuku heads out saying, " See you later after getting my badge."
"See you later little passenger remember a battle is not fun if it's not serious," his Papa says with Dad nodding along. Izuku makes his way through the city until he reaches the gym looking at it in excitement. After Izuku enters the gym he sees what appears to be a roller coaster car and that's when Izuku remembers this is how you get to the gym battlefield. After stepping down and pulling the safety rail until it clicks then the car shoots off into a giant indoor ride even having a loop that nearly makes Izuku sick to his stomach. After a few moments more the car slows down to a stop in a room that is only illuminated by neon lights on the wall.
"Welcome to the Nimbasa City Gym. I'm the Gym leader Elesa," Elesa says after three spotlights turn on illuminating her on the steps that lead to a door that Izuku thinks leads to the battlefield. Izuku slowly gets out of the car, stomach still a little upset.
" Hello Ms. Elesa my name is Izuku Kandó, I'm here for a gym battle," Izuku says smiling like his Papa in anticipation of a good battle. As they walk in there is a whole crowd up in the viewing platform cheering for Elesa. "This will be a three on three battle and the challenger will be allowed to substitute their Pokémon," the ref calls.
"Zebstrika the bright light is on you," Elesa says releasing Zebstrika. "Full speed ahead Jangmo-o,Izuku calls releasing Jangmo-o. "Let the three-on-three battle between Gym Leader Elesa and Challenger Izuku Kandó begin," the ref calls. "Jangmo-o full speed ahead with Dragon Claw," Izuku says, pointing forward. Jangmo-o follows the order and runs forward with claws glowing with Dragon energy ready to swipe at Zebstrika. " Zebstrika use double kick and then flame charge," Elesa calls and Zebstrika kicks Jangmo-o away before stomping its hooves and charging forward coated in flames.
"Jangmo-o lets change tracks use Iron defense and counter," Izuku calls and Jangmo-o is able to raise its defense right as Zebstrika hits it only to be sent sliding across the field hard from Jangmo-o using counter. "Zebstrika use Flame Charge again," Elesa calls and Zebstrika zooms forward even faster than before hitting Jangmo-o. "Jangmo-o use dragon tail," Izuku yells and Jangmo-o runs across the field with its tail glowing. "Zebstrika use flame charge one more time," Elesa says and Zebstrika follows its order and coats itself in flames, before rushing forward and Zebstrika hits Jangmo-o with another Flame charge knocking Jangmo-o across the ground, Izuku yells, "Jangmo-o are you alright?" Jangmo-o slowly gets up before roaring as he starts glowing. Jangmo-o's shape starts changing as the light clears Izuku sees that Jangmo-o has evolved into Hakamo-o pulling out his Pokédex. Izuku scans Hakamo-o and sees two new moves and smiles excitedly. " Zebstrika use Wild Charge," Elesa calls and Zebstrika zooms forward only to get slammed back and bounces across the field by a Sky Uppercut Counter combo as Izuku calls, " Hakamo-o combine Sky Uppercut and Counter to send Zebstrika back to its station." Zebstrika barely is able to get up before Izuku yells excitedly, " Let's go full speed ahead with a Dragon claw attack!" Hakamo-o agrees and charges forward, raking its glowing claws across Zebstrika making it hit the ground again. After a moment of shock the ref says, " Zebstrika is unable to battle. Gym leader send out your next Pokémon. Elesa returns Zebstrika with an awed look on her face while Izuku asks Hakamo-o, " Are you still alright to battle?"
Hakamo-o gives Izuku a nod while smiling. "Gym leader, send out your next Pokémon, " ref calls. "Emolga center stage," Elesa calls as Emolga appears on the field in a flash of light. "Emolga use attract," Elesa calls confidently. Emolga follows the order and releases the heart shaped attack only for Izuku to yell, " Change tracks Hakamo-o use Protect then full speed ahead with Sky Uppercut!" Hakamo-o quickly creates the Protect causing the attract heart to bounce off, Hakamo-o then stops Protect to zoom forward at incredible speed and hits Emolga with a glowing arm. "Alright use Aerial Ace Emolga," Elesa calls and Zemolga follows orders flying high and then charging at Hakamo-o only for Izuku to say, " Hakamo-o use Autotomize to help you dodge and then Dragon Tail to send Emolga back down its tracks.." Hakamo-o sheds some scales and jumps to the side faster than before, as Emolga passes by hits Emolga like a baseball, sending it crashing into the wall. Elesa looks shocked for a moment before smiling. "Your Pokémon has great speed, but still not as fast as Emolga. Emolga use discharge and then Acrobatics," Elesa says. Emolga zooms with blinding speed to over top Hakamo-o and releases a full blast Discharge and then swoops back and down hits Hakamo-o so hard that dust and smoke fills the air. After it clears everyone sees Hakamo-o knocked out. " Hakamo-o is unable to battle challenger send out your next Pokémon," ref calls as Izuku returns Hakamo-o. Izuku studies Emolga for a moment before pulling out his next Pokéball and yelling, " All Aboard Lampent."
Lampent appears on the field in a flash of light. Elesa Watches on for a second before, saying, " Emolga use attract." Emolga follows the order and releases the attack only for Lampent to blast them away with a Will-o-wisp after hearing Izuku let out a short shrill whistle. "Alright let's try Acrobatics Emolga," Elesa calls smiling wide happy to see how strong this challenger is. Izuku lets out two short soft whistles before saying, "Inferno." Lampent starts by trapping Emolga in a Firespin to keep it from moving and then hits it hard with the powerful Fire attack Inferno that sends it crashing into the ground Knocked out. "Emolga return, I'm impressed Mr. Kandó teaching your Pokemon to respond to commands from whistling is impressive but it won't be enough to defeat my final Pokémon. "Gym leader please send out your final Pokémon," the ref says while looking on in surprise.
"The bright light is on you my tynamo," Elesa says as a spotlight appears shining on her Tynamo as Izuku looks on in curiosity of little Pokémon. "Well if your not going first I will Tynamo use Spark," Elesa says and Tynamo shoots off and hits Lampent so quick and hard Lampent crashes into the wall behind Izuku. Izuku's eyes are wide at seeing how fast Tynamo is. "Lampent let's change tracks use Confuse Ray and Will-o-wisp," Izuku calls rights as Tynamo launches forward with another Spark attack. Lampent releases a light with its eyes glowing causing Tynamo to miss entirely and float around looking confused making it an easy target for Will-o-wisp to hit. Tynamo cries out in pain and Elesa calls out in a worried tone, " Tynamo try to snap out of it and use Spark." Lampent we are almost at the end of the tracks let's finish this with Hex and Shadow Ball," Izuku says while straightening up and pointing forward like both his Dad and Papa do. Lampent launches the attacks right as Tynamo snaps out of the confusion only to be hit head on by Hex and then a literal ball of ghostly energy causing it to slam into the ground out cold. "Tynamo is unable to battle, the challenger is the winner," Ref says. "Bravo!! Very well done little passenger," his Dads voice calls, making Izuku turn and look up in the stands to see both his Dad and Papa there clapping at his victory. " Indeed that was a very shocking battle, here is the Bolt Badge," Elesa says, handing Izuku his badge. Izuku takes it, happily proud that he won such a battle and got to show his parents how strong his Pokémon are, before putting it in the badge case. "Thank you for such a wonderful battle. It was a lot of fun, but now I got to get my Pokémon checked out," Izuku replies smiling while walking out the exit of the gym.
