Sixth Incident – Vampire Hunter R and M

Prologue

It was late in the evening in Gensokyo. Reimu Hakurei was sweeping up the steps in her shrine when she noticed someone walking up to her. It's Keine Kamishirasawa, but she looked very disturbed. Reimu stopped sweeping, looked at her in concern and went over to talk to her.

"Keine? What's with that weird look on your face?"

"Reimu…" Keine sighed heavily and replied, "Something's gone horribly wrong and I don't know how to fix it. Please… I need your help."

"Well, what's wrong?"

"I don't if you've noticed, but people have been disappearing from my village during the night and returning dazed, drained and confused."

"Hmmm…" Reimu tilted her head, "That is troubling. Do you know who's responsible?"

Keine looked away. "I think… I think I am Reimu… And that's what's gotten me so troubled."

Reimu had an incredulous look on her face. "You?! But that can't be! Keine, you love humans! Why would you let some random yokai take them and do gods knows what with them?!"

"Something's controlling me, Reimu!" Keine squealed, "Every night when I go to sleep I wake up outside the village and standing there with me are the taken humans of every gender and age, and all I can remember is a little girl's voice saying in a really weird accent 'None of zhem are right. Leave me,' and it gets worse: This time, she said 'I haff found him. I do not need you anymore.' And no, I don't recognize the voice."

"I'm not gonna lie, Keine! This sounds really, really bad! Like, an Incident bad! But I have no idea where to even start looking…"

"I think I have an idea, ze." Another voice chimed in.

Reimu and Keine looked up to see Marisa Kirisame on her broomstick flying down to them. She landed in front of them and continued.

"Did you two not notice? Every night for the past week or so, a huge castle has appeared in the sky, floating in perfect sync with the moon, which for some reason has been full ever since this castle appeared."

"Yes, I've seen and heard of it," Keine replied, "It's so ominous-looking the humans have started calling it 'the Demon's Castle.' But nobody knows who or what lives there."

"Eh… Probably a vampire," Reimu replied with a shrug, "They like to live in big, extravagant places. Take Remilia, for example. I swear, that mansion gets bigger and fancier every time I see it! …But why is this vampire doing this?"

"I dunno, but that's what I came to talk to ya about, ze! Humans ain't the only things goin' missin'! Yokai and all manner of other supernatural creatures are flying into that castle… And they ain't comin' out!"

Reimu had a determined look on her face as she continued, "In that case, let's investigate this 'Demon's Castle' together, Marisa! Keine, you stay here and hide the human village. Come nightfall, Marisa and I will pay this vampire a visit and get an explanation."

Keine nodded in agreement. "Right. She shouldn't be taking anymore humans, but I'll do it just in case. Good luck, you two."

With that, Keine left. Eventually it's nighttime, and sure enough, the castle appeared in the sky, illuminated by the full moon. Reimu and Marisa readied themselves, and flew towards the castle.
