Sorry about the lateness this chapter. Something was going on with this website Sunday night and I couldn't upload and then yesterday was Easter and I just wanted to rest. It's been a rough week, but I hope you enjoy! ALSO CAN YOU BELIEVE WERE AT 80 CHAPTERS! becasue I sure don't. Buckle up this is a LONG one!

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ART PROPOSALS FOR THIS STORY!

Reviews:

KEZZ 1- Thank you KEZZ I really needed that! Thank you so much for always reading and reviewing, I always look forward to seeing your name pop up!

Ooshnish- I'm soooo sorry and I'm also sorry for what I'm about to do...THANK YOU FOR THE EASTER WISHES! You have no idea how much I appreciated that! I've been having a rough week so you're kind words really made my day.

xXBangtanTrashXx- I like sprinkle trauma around like parmesan cheese on a Cesar salad T_T it's really something I need to stop doing, and I promise you I will, I just gotta gt it all out of the way so Bella can come in and take in her turn in the trauma carousal. I'm so happy you like the bonus, I write a lot of different chapters from Carlisle's perspective that I never post, but felt like I should in this situation, and I'm so happy you liked it! Thank you my friend for reading and reviewing! It always makes my night!

Guest-Don't worry, Tandy won't be a problem much longer I promise! YOU have got me running to my keyboard, because you are absolutely right about the sibling chapter and I can already hear Rosalie shouting! Thank you so much for the reviewing and the amazing idea!

Guest-I'M SORRY! I'm sorry for what I've done and for what I'm about to do. I promise goos things are coming and so are good feelings...I just have to get this out...please forgive me.

agabriellafigueiredo- I'm so sorry about the confusion my friend. I should have made this more clear. Mare is a brunette, she has dark mahogany colored hair. Her mother and grandparents have light blonde hair, because of this she's always felt more like an outcast in her own family, that's why she grew her hair long, because her mother also kept hers long.

NailahInSpace- I completely agree my friend! I actually recently cut an inch of my hair and felt really sad over it, because my har also seems to have hit a plateau or a forever length as I call it lol. No one deserves to have their hair cut against their will.

When I first started writing this story I always imagined Mare and Carlisle having a monthly work lunch/dinner. It's just seemed like a cute thing to do lol. I also always wanted Carlisle to have some sort of relationship with his coworkers, I know he's private because of the whole vampire thing, but I like fun, but Carlisle doesn't mess around! He'll pull his money like that lol.

Lastly, I'm sorry for what you're about to read...please forgive me.

Gretchenia- Oh My Goodness my friend, you are a reviewing fiend, I don't even know how to respond, other than you always leave the best and most detailed reviews I love it! I feel like I can never get anything past you! You pick up ever little detail and Easter egg and I love that! One of these days I'm going to get you I swear lol, but until then, thank you my friend for the reviews! One of my favorite thing to do late at night is to read them over and over, they just bring me so much joy! Thank you my friend, just thank you!

Tuesday night, 10:48 PM

"You're awake?" Edward peaks his head between the doorway of our two rooms, a frown on his face,

"I can't sleep." I frown, resisting the urge to turn on the TV and get lost in a reality show.

"You've been really quiet," I shrug. Esme, Carlisle, and I watched TV for a bit before the others came home. At that point, I went upstairs, only coming down for dinner and then heading right back up.

"Can you blame me?"

"No, but you don't have to hide from us." I take a breath and sigh,

"I don't like it when you see me break," Edward lifts a brow,

"Why?"

"I should be tougher...It's only hair." Even as I say it I don't believe it.

"Mare, I've seen girls freak out over an inch. You have every right to be upset, we're here to help you." I nod, I know he's right, it's just still sucks. I swallow, turning away almost ashamed,

"Does everyone know?" Edward steps between the door, crossing his arms and leaning against the frame

"Tandy's not going to be at school tomorrow." My frown deepens because that's not an answer, after a second he nods, "It's circulating."

"How do I go to school tomorrow and face everyone?"

"Everyone's on your side Mare." I collapse back into my pillows because it doesn't matter if I'm on everyone's side, they still know. It's going to be like when I first got here again. All eyes are on me, whispers in the hallways, and sympathetic glances my way. It took months for that to stop and now...

"It doesn't matter, it happened." I spit struggling hard not to pick up my TV remote and chuck it at Edward's head, it's not his fault. "I'm sorry."

"I'm glad you're angry, better than catatonic." I sit up wrinkling my nose at him,

"You can go," he smirks,

"I'm sorry," he's not. I look down at my hands fidgeting with the crest on my ring finger,

"Maybe.." I struggle with the words, "Can I sit with you at lunch?" I peak at Edward, his smile is gone and his posture stiffens,

"No," I feel my mouth open. I don't think Edward's ever said no to me before, especially not when I feel so emotionally fragile...I might be getting used to getting what I want. I feel gross now, but frown in disappointment,

"Why?"

"Because your friends love you and you can't ignore them." I clench my fists,

"I'm not ignoring them exac-"

"You're just ignoring them." Edward cuts me off with a nonsense tone of voice and I relent,

"Maybe," Cody's called the house twice today and Matt once. I haven't taken any calls, even when Esme gently encouraged me to. What would I even say to them,

"Ya, the school bully who hates me especially cut off my hair and I had a total meltdown and couldn't face school today, did you take history notes for me."

"Well, that's a start," Edward states and I reach over tossing a pillow at him, it doesn't even come close to hitting him,

"Stop reading my mind."

"Mare, I'm also on your side." I huff,

"I've just always felt so sure of myself...now I don't know." Edward pushes off the door frame,

"You're having a break in confidence and that's okay, something happened that shook you, hurt you. Give yourself a bit to feel upset and then get up go to school, wear your hair down, and show everyone that you're not going to allow one girl to break you completely." I lift a brow,

"Nice motivational speech." Edwards's lips turn into a grin,

"Does that mean you're going to take it?" I take a large breath puffing out my chest,

"Maybe I will," Edward smirks,

"Get some sleep menace."

Thursday Morning, 7:42 AM

I turn to the window catching my appearance in the rain-soaked glass and sigh turning away for the third time this ride,

"You'll be fine." I frown, slumping deeper into the passenger seat,

"Easy for you to say." I cross my arms turning to the window again,

"No one can even tell with your hair up like that."

"Yes you can," I grumble, "The bun's not as fluffy." After spending two days at home, Esme told me I would have to go back today, so I purposely woke up early and spent 30 minutes trying to pull all my hair into a bun and fluff it up to look like I had more hair than I did, however, some of the shorter pieces keep falling out and it's clear my bangs are shorter, all and all...I hate this bun, but I hate having my hair down more.

"I like it." Edward encourages, but it does little to my sour mood. I swallow feeling my heart speed up and my stomach turn when the school comes into focus,

"You'll be fine." I take a deep breath trying to steady my racing heart,

"Easy for you to say."

"I think your bun's fluffy enough that no one will really tell."

"Good," I snap, knowing he's lying, I'm missing 7 extra inches, everyone will be able to tell. Edward pulls in and parks, he's quick to stop the car and then he just sits there,

"What are you doing?"

"Waiting, we'll go in when you're ready." I lean back close my eyes and take a breath,

"Okay, ready."

Thursday Afternoon, 12:13 PM

"Are they still staring?" I turn to Cody who without even looking up from her salad sighs and nods,

"Yes." This is the fifth time I've asked since sitting down. Cody's been glued to my side all day. When she can't be in class with me she waits for me in the hallway, she hasn't left my side once and I realize how close our friendship has grown since the first time I met her.

"Let them stare," Alex says a little too loud for my taste, however when I look up I notice more people have turned away. I send a thankful smile his way,

"Not the approach I would have taken, but you know?" Cody shrugs and pops a pretzel into her mouth, "Your families still staring," She smirks in my direction and I groan,

stop staring at me

I look down at my bagged lunch and grab Esme's homemade granola balls and shove them in my mouth before looking up to find Todd sliding into our lunch table causing the whole thing to shake,

"I figured it out." He breathes out in a huff,

"Figured what out, you animal," Cody grumbles grabbing her water bottle before it can tumble over,

"How to turn this week around."

"Are you having a bad week too?" Sarcasm drips from my voice and Todd shrugs,

"Meh," he waves one hand in the hair before pulling out a chair and sitting down,

"Let's go to the movies,"

"The movies?" Cody perks up,

"That new superhero movie is out," Alex adds before the three of them turn my way,

"What?"

"The movies," Cody grins, "What do you say?"

"Oh," I look down picking at my sandwich, "I don't want to go, but you guys should."

"What, no, Mare, you have to go," Cody whines reaching forward to shake my arm,

"I'm not really in the mood to go out." Cody grunts, dramatically throwing herself down on the table,

"Mare!" She turns grabbing my shoulders and forcing me to face her, "I love you and I will coddle you for however long you need it, but please." She grips my shoulders harder, "Go. To. The. Movies. With. Us." I huff pushing her away,

"What day?"

"Saturday" Todd smiles reaching forward to grab my bran muffin disguised as a chocolate chip one, I let him have it.

"I'm having lunch with my uncle that day." I almost smile because I didn't even have to lie about my excuse.

"We'll go later, only nerds go to the movie in the afternoon." He shrugs stuffing the whole muffin in his mouth. I look over to Cody and Alex who wait for my answer, finally after a minute I sigh,

"Can we talk about it later?" Cody deflates a bit, but nods,

"Of course."

Thursday Afternoon, 3:17 PM

"So the movies?"

"I knew you were listening!"

"Oh please," Edward grins, "We were all listening, it wasn't just me." I fall back into the passenger seat and rest my foot on the dash only to have Edward reach over and knock my foot off,

"What were people saying about me," I ask quietly only to have Edward quirk a brow in my direction,

"Saying?"

"Thinking," I correct, Edwards is silent for a minute as if contemplating if he should tell me or not. Another minute goes by before he relents,

"They were hoping you'd wear your hair down so they could see how much Tandy cut."

"Vultures," I breathe.

"You should wear it down." I turn sending a disgusted look his way, "Hear me out."

"No,"

"Mare," He sighs exasperated,

"Edward." I match his tone. We fall into a tense silence the only sound coming from the Volvo speeding up,

"I like your hair, it looks nice when you wear it down, even shorter," Edward revealed his tone tired.

"I've lost my spirit," I confess quietly,

"You'll find it."

"You think so?"

"I do, you're a resilient girl Mare, you'll be okay."

Thursday Evening, 4:01 PM

"I can feel you staring!" I shout in the empty kitchen. After a second Esme appears in the doorway, I tea towel in her hands, the poor piece of fabric is being wrung between her strong fingers,

"Alright," she took a breath "You've settled down, you had your snack, your homework is halfway done, soooo...how was school?" I reach forward grab my lemonade and take a sip before answering,

"It was...okay." Esme smiles relieved,

"That's good," I nod,

"Yeah and in six months when my hair grows a little I'll wear it down." I mean it as a joke but Esme frowns, her eyes growing sad, "I'm kidding, today was a good first day."

"Oh honey, I'm happy. You're friends we're nice?" I chuckle,

"There my friends, they better be nice."

"Speaking of friends!" Alice enters the kitchen with a sly smile on her face...I don't like the look of that smile,

"What about friends?" Esme looks worried again,

"Mare's friends invited her to the movies" Esme's face lights up,

"When?"

"I don't want to go,"

"Saturday night," Alice and I say at the same time. Esme looks between the both of us, before settling on me,

"Why not? Other than the fact that you haven't asked yet, I don't see a problem with it." I reach forward for my glass of water and take a big sip,

"I don't know, I guess I just don't feel like it." Esme takes a step closer, leaning down to rest her elbows on the counter, and frowns,

"I think you're friends want to do something to cheer you up." I shrug reaching down for my pencil,

"I don't need cheering up."

"Mare." Alice snorts unconvinced,

"Okay, I just don't want to be cheered up." Both women look at each other before looking back to me, "It looks like your reading each others minds when you do that."

"Nope," Edward appears in the kitchen just like Alice did a minute ago, "Only one mind reader in this family, and I think you should go, your friends really just want you to be happy."

God him too.

Edward smirks at that,

"I know they have good intentions, but...I don't know,"

"I do," Esme says gently placing her hand on top of mine, "Go to the movies, honey, have fun with them," I take a large breath through my nose,

"You really think I should go?"

"How about I drive you and your friends," Edward adds from the side,

"I think you're going to have a great time." Alice joins. I turn to her brows raised,

"You haven't seen anything?" She frowns,

"Well no, but I don't need to see the future to know you're friends really care about you expectantly Cody," I groan looking at all three before finally conceding,

"I'll go." Esme's cold hand reaches forward and cups my cheek,

"I think this is exactly what you need to cheer you up." I purse my lips,

"I hope so."

Friday Afternoon12:03 PM

"So?" Cody asks bouncing to the table from the lunch line tray in hand, so far I'm the only one here, perks of bag lunch,

"So what?" I ask taking a bite of my bagel sandwich...I think Esme made these this morning. Cody rolls her eyes, plopping down and ripping into her bag of chips,

"The movie!" I swallow,

"Oh, umm" She turns toward me her eyes focused,

"Please Mare, when was the last time we went to a movie? My mom will only let me go if you're going," She pops her bottom lips out and makes a whining sound...I don't want to, but,

"Alright." Cody smiles, "I'll see if my dad can drive us."

"Edward already said he would." I didn't think it was possible but Cody's face brightens even more,

"Yay!"

"Yeah, yay," mine isn't as happy as her's

Saturday Afternoon, 4:58 PM

"Remember Edward's picking you up in about an hour, meet him here so he can pick up your friends and take you to the movies," I resist the urge to roll my eyes. I don't want to go to this movie. Sometimes I forget how Twilight isn't only a whole different universe, it also a different time. We're currently in the fall of 2004 and the movies currently out in theater include, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Spider-Man 2, and Mean Girls. Needless to say, the boys wanted Spider-Man, Cody wanted Mean Girls and I wanted none, so were going to see Spider-Man.

"Just Edward right?" Esme smile,

"Just Edward."

"I'll see you at home later." I open the door of Esme's BMW,

"Have fun tonight, I love you." I smile and get out,

"Love you too." I close the door heading into the Emergency room. The double door whoosh opens to the small waiting room. It's not busy today, there's a small family in the corner, and an older woman sitting as close as she can to the intake desk where a familiar face looks up and immediately smiles,

"Hi, baby!" Pam is my favorite nurse, she's large and in charge with a nonsense attitude that was the hardest for me to crack; and she always calls me baby. "Come here, give me hug," She stands ushering me over and squashes me in a hug that could rival a vampires.

"Hi Pam" She squeezes me again before pushing me back and reaching up to run her fingers through my hair,

"I love it," She smiles and I feel my cheeks redden. This is the first time I've worn my hair down, I even let Alice put some loose curls in it after she begged all morning.

"It's pretty short." She leans back and raises a perfectly plucked brow,

"Are you saying short hair is bad?" she flips her short black bob her lips pursed in a scowl although I know she's not upset with me,

"It's growing on me." She smiles and reaches forward to pinch my cheek,

"That's my beautiful girl," I can't it, I reach forward and hug her again. Her hugs are always the best, her arms warm and her chocolate-colored cheek always brushes against mine, and when I pull away she always pops a large kiss on my temple,

"Is anybody even working?" The older woman stationed right up front asks, Pam sighs and ignores her,

"You're uncle told me to tell you to meet him by the nurse's station,"

"Thank you,"

"Excuse me!" The older lady scowls as I make my quick exit, "Why does she get to walk in, I've been waiting!"

"Sit down Mrs. Clark, you're eczema will be looked at," Pam's voice carries into the emergency room. The nurse's station is right in the middle of the large and incredibly hard to miss and standing in front are Carlisle and Mrs. Gordon, Carlisle notices me first and smiles,

"There she is." He's dressed how he always is in the emergency room, black dress pants and, a crisp button-up shirt complete with a tie, today it's his black and red striped one; and as always his white lab coat and stethoscope are permanently around his shoulders. Mrs. Gordon is dressed in light blue scrubs with balloons, her blonde hair pulled into a ponytail and just like Carlisle a stethoscope sits around her shoulders. She turns her lips turned up in a smile, but her eyes seem sad and when they spotted my hair they quickly look away,

"Oh Mare, Honey, I am so sorry."

"It's okay," Just like Pam she gently reaches forward and runs her fingers through the ends,

"I'm loving this, short hair." She drops her hand, "Wow, it looks great on you." I shrug,

"It's growing on me," Her eyes brighten, all sadness gone.

"Well, I have to start in twenty. I just came down to see you, I know you and Cody are going to the movies with Todd and Alex." I nod,

"Edwards driving."

"And he'll drive responsibly Mellissa you have my words." Mrs. Gordon laughs,

"I'm not worried Carlisle, however, I think this thing you two do is just the cutest, I brought it up to Cody once but she told me she's not hanging out at a place where ghosts possible haunt." I can't help the snorty laugh that comes out of my nose,

"Yup, sounds like Cody." Mrs. Gordon reaches forward and rubs my shoulder,

"You have fun tonight and stay out of trouble," I nod,

"I promise, Mrs. Gordon," She drops her hands and rolls her eyes,

"Mellissa, Mare." I smile, although she's crazy if she thinks I'm ever going to call her by her real name, but Mrs. Gordon's a smart woman because after a second she sighs and waves us both goodbye before heading down the hallway. Carlisle chuckles reaching forward to tuck me under his arm,

"She's going to keep trying," he smiled, I responded with a shrug,

"I know."

Saturday evening 5:27 PM

I smile watching Carlisle move the food around on his plate while also subtlety throwing french fries onto my plate,

"You always act like someone's watching," A laugh snatching the fry up and popping it in my mouth,

"Better to be safe than sorry." He throws another fry, "Pardon me for saying sweetheart, but you don't seem too happy today. Usually, you're buzzing out of your chair at the thought of hanging with your friends." I shrug picking apart my turkey sandwich, they put cheddar on it today, pepper jacks better.

"I'm happy to be here," That seems the best way to start this,

"Yes." Carlisle lifts one blonde brow, ripping apart his wrap.

"I think I'd just rather stay home tonight."

"Why?" He asks, spreading the food around his plate,

"I don't know, I should want to hang out with my friends but..."

"I think I know what's happening." I lift a brow, taking a bite of my sandwich,

"You do?" Carlisle nods,

"I think you've lost your spirit, sweet girl." I squint up at him, "You're a bit shaken and that's okay, allow yourself to feel these things, and then tomorrow, get up and keep on going. Every day you get up and keep going is a good day. Enjoy those good days and slowly you're spirit will come back." I take a breath before taking another bite of my sandwich for nothing more than to keep from talking. Carlisle waits patiently until I'm done,

"I feel like I'm sulking." Carlisle nods, plopping some more fries on my plate,

"That's okay, let yourself sulk, as long as you get up tomorrow and keep going." I grab a few more fries,

"It's not just my hair," I admit, "I really thought I could handle her, I'm sorry if I disappointed you." Carlisle drops his silver wear to reach forward and grab my wrist,

"Mare, love, you have yet to disappoint me, you handle yourself fine. This never had anything to do with you."

"I also feel like she won." Carlisle's hand squeezes,

"There is no winning here, what she did was wrong. She didn't win and you didn't lose." I breathe out slowly, swallowing to keep the tears from falling. I'm not crying today, I've already decided against it.

"Feels like it."

"Your feelings are completely valid, I know Esme talked to you but if you feel like you need it, I can call Margot and see if she can get you in tomorrow so you don't have to wait a week." I smile and shake my head,

"No, but could I go to the rink tomorrow," Carlisle chuckles,

"I'll drive you myself,"

"You want to skate with me?" Carlisle squeezes my wrist again before letting go,

"I would love to."

Saturday Evening, 6:01

Carlisle keeps his arm around my shoulder as he walks me down the hallway back to the nurse's station,

"Well if that ain't the cutest thing I've seen all day," Dr. Grady gushes, lazily slumped against the counter of the nurse's hub,

"Looks like you haven't been working all day." I lie looking him up and down only to have Grady stand up,

"Excuse you, I work very hard to see the pulsing vein in my forehead?" I squint coming to a stop,

"You mean the grey hair?" Grady staggers back acting as if he's just been stabbed in the stomach,

"Wow, you kiss Carlisle with that mouth?"

"Oh John," Carlisle smirks, "Fighting with me 14 year old again,"

"No," Grady says nonchalantly "I'm fighting with your soon to be 15 year old."

"You remembered." I tilt my head, "I'd wish you'd tell me your birthday I'd love to celebrate your big six, zero."

"Wow, where's you get a sense of humor, Sesame Street?" I open my mouth when Pam walks over slapping a manilla envelope in his chest,

"Stop fighting with my baby, Mrs. Clark needs her rash looked at again." Grady scrunches his face in a deep frown before opening the envelope.

"It's eczema, I looked at it last week."

"I know." Pam comes over to pull me into her arms again, "Is he being mean to you?" I nod and return her hug,

"Yeah hide behind Pam." Grady shuts the envelope and rolls his eyes simultaneously. Pam lets me go and turns to face him head-on,

"Excuse me?" She asks one brow raised,

"Thanks, Marceline now I'm in trouble with Pam." Carlisle's chuckle cuts into our back and forth,

"Edward should be waiting outside,"

"Oh yeah you're going to the movies right," Grady cuts in, "I hope it's awful."

"I hope an emergency comes in minutes before you're set to go home and you have to work overtime." Grady places his hand on his chest and steps back

"Mare Cullen, that is diabolical." I smile before kissing Carlisle on the cheek and heading to the door, "This won't go unpunished you heathen!"

Saturday Night, 6:32 PM

"I thought it was just Edward?" I growl out between clenched teeth, Edward looks up in the rearview mirror, gold eyes mischievous. Both he and Emmett have all the room up front while, Cody, Alex and I are squished back here like sardines. Me in the middle,

"When your friend Todd called to say his family was going to have dinner in town before the movie and didn't need a ride, I figured Emmett could tag along." Emmett turns around with a stupid goofy grin on his face,

"We're hanging out, waste less gas like this." He wiggles his brows and it takes everything in me not to reach forward and try to rip those stupid brows off.

"I like when Emmett tags along," Cody interjects from my right, "he's the funnest."

"Thank you, Cody!" Emmett directs it at her, but looks at me before holding up his hand and waiting for Cody, who reaches forward to high-five him,

"No offense Edward," Cody adds. Edward smirks,

"None taken." I sigh pushing her back into her seat,

"One, funniest isn't a word, and two, he's not fun, he's goofy." Emmett turns around in his seat, threading his hands behind his head,

"You should appreciate me more, Marceline." I frown kicking his seat, "You only have one me," He adds and I can just imagine the stupid look he has on his face,

"I only have

"Sooooo," Alex, who's been mostly silent this car ride, leans forward eyes on the back of Emmett's head, "What's your workout routine?" I roll my eyes.

"Lots of Eggs, twelve-mile run in the morning, switch leg and arm days." I scrunch my brows,

You forget vampirism

"If I do all that, do you think I could bulk up like you by the time I'm a senior?" Emmett chuckles before falling silent,

"No," he answers his tone serious and unwavering, Alex slumps back, looking over to give me a small smile, "Alright Mare, South Dakota, kid I don't know, we're here" Cody smiles at Emmett's nickname, and opens the door,

"Thank you, Edward, you're picking us up right?"

"10, that should give you guys time to watch a movie, and stop for ice cream after."

"Yeah thanks, man," Alex waves but Edward doesn't respond back instead turns to look at me,

"Can I talk to you for a second?"

"I need to buy a ticket," I huff turning to see Todd wave from the front of the building, Alex is already out and waiting,

"Just a second." He promises,

"Give me your money I'll buy it for you." Cody holds out her hand, I wait a second before relenting and hanging over the fifty-buck bill Carlisle handed me before I left the hospital. He tried to give me his credit card, but I drew the line at his heavy metal card. Cody lifts a brow before getting out and shutting the door behind her. I watch her head over to the others before turning to face forward only to be met with both Edward and Emmett staring at me,

"What?"

"Alex is going to try and hold your hand," Edward growled,

"He's going to do what!" Emmett booms looking out the window,

"No, he's not, we're just friends," I argue reaching forward to turn Emmett's angry eyes back on me,

"He doesn't want to be just friends." I roll my eyes,

"Stop"

"He thinks your short hair makes you more beautiful." Edward keeps his face neutral, while Emmett continues to look more and more upset. I imagine my face looks the same,

"Stop reading my friend's mind, it's an invasion of privacy they didn't consent to."

"Do NOT let him hold your hand." Emmett leans closer, his canines visible through his scowl, "NO BOYS REMEMBER!" I push him away,

"I WASN'T GOING TO!" I look over seeing if they can hear the yelling going on in here, by their looks it's clear they can, "You're embarrassing me."

"If you let him hold your hand he's going to try and kiss you after." I feel all the blood rise to my cheeks and I fight hard to keep from reaching forward and punching both boys,

"I'm never letting you drive us again." I grit out after a second, Edward remains calm, while Emmett fights to keep from bending Edwards's passenger seat backward,

"If he kisses you, he's going to wake up without legs." He curses,

"That's not possible he would wake up as you're ripping his legs off." I roll my eyes, and Emmett nods in understanding.

"Good point, tell him if he kisses you he'll wake up to me ripping his legs off," He stops and thinks for a minute, "Actually not just his legs but his pe-"

"OKAY!" I shout reaching for the door and throwing it open. I stop out and slam it right as Emmett rolls down his window,

"And I mean all of it," he whispers and I resist the urge to punch him, it would hurt me more than him anyway,

"Thank you again, Edward!" Cody waves, and Edward gives her a slight nod,

"Yay man, thank you, you've got a sick car. It was cool of you to drive us." Alex steps forward to wave, but it's Emmett who responds,

"You know what's also cool? Respecting Women." He points at Alex before grabbing the pair of sunglasses I keep clipped to the passenger's side sun visor and puts them on with a frown. They're too small for his head, also it's night, but I'm sure that doesn't stop Emmett from feeling like James Bond as he gestures for Edward to drive. I watch them go with a frown before turning to Alex and sighing,

"I think all the steroids have messed with his brain stem," Alex's eyes grow wide and he smiles,

"I knew it wasn't just eggs and exercise" I smile heading over to wear Cody is waving her hands at me,

"One for Spider-man 2, Also, you're buying the popcorn," I smirk, grabbing my ticket,

"And candy!" Todd adds with a smile,

"Didn't you just come from dinner with your parents?" Cody asks arms crossed, Todd frowns,

"They didn't let me get dessert." I laugh,

"Alright."

Saturday Night, 7:48 PM

I move my hand again reaching up to run my fingers through my hair before resting my hands in my lap. Edward wasn't wrong, since the movie started Alex has been discretely, or at least what he thinks is discreetly trying to reach over and hold my hand; and I've been discretely moving my hand. I have to give it to him, he doesn't give up. Every time I move, he moves. This is the fifth time since Toby McGuire came on screen, that he's tried to thread his fingers through mine. I'm hoping that by having my hands in my lap he'll get the memo, however when he reaches for my hand again, I sigh and stand up,

"Where are you going?" Cody grabs my wrist and pulls me down. I keep my eyes forward refusing to turn toward Alex.

"Candy," I whisper back.

"Can you get me M 's?" She asks eyes hopeful. I smile back,

"Sure," who am I to deny a girl M 's?

"Regular, not peanuts." I nod, waiting for her to let go of my wrist, and then scurry out of the movie and down to the concessions. I make quick work heading to the concession stand. Theirs only three theaters in this building and all are currently playing at the same time, so there are only the workers and all are currently milling about or talking. I take small steps up to the counter suddenly feeling overwhelmed where a girl who looks around 17, turns around and smiles,

"Can I help you?"

"M 's please." I hand over a 10 dollar bill, she grabs it and hands over a small yellow box,

"What movie are you seeing?" She asks opening the register,

"Spiderman 2."

"Toby McGuire is so hot in this movie." I nod holding my hand out for the change, she stops and looks me up and down, "Are you okay, You're sweaty, I'm sorry he's not that hot." I take a breath and look out the door,

"I think I just need some air, if I go out, can I come back in?" The girl looks out the door and then to me,

"Yeah, you still have your ticket right?" I nod reaching into my pocket to show her, "It should be fine." She gives me a kind smile and I try to return it before booking it for the front door. The minute the cold air hits my face I'm taking large gulps of air. I don't know what's really come over me, a mix of Alex trying to hold my hand and me just not wanting to be here. I really wished I a stayed hope.

I start trying to hype myself to go back in, I know I've missed at least 10 minutes by now, good thing I've watched it on late-night cable like four times already. I take another breath when a scrapping sound comes from the alley. I squint my eyes when I hear it again and then the unmistakable sound of someone whispering my name. I roll my eyes,

"I swear to god." I growl taking large steps toward the alley, "If you guys are hanging out in some weird dirty dingy alley waiting to see if Alex holds my hands I'm telling Carlisle." I turn down the dismal empty alley preparing to come face to face with Emmett's stupid goofy smile, when instead something...someone slides up behind me, their hand covering my mouth before a pain flairs on the left side of my stomach.

"You messed with the wrong one." I fight to push the hand away and look down to find...the hilt of a kitchen knife sticking out of my side...I drop the M&M's
