"iDecide Your Skit"
The crew ask iCarly fans to send in submissions for skits, and Sam and Carly have to perform them.
AN: Hey all. Once again, so sorry these are taking as long as they are. This pesky adult life is getting in the way of my fanfiction. Not to mention the writer's block struggle is real. Anyway, here's another chapter. I have a few more prompts due to come out, but feel free to send more one shot ideas my way. Enjoy!
Gibby is at his locker, gathering his books for the day when he sees Freddie come down the hallway. He is used to seeing Freddie always with Carly and Sam, so Gibby was surprised to see him alone. The two friends smiled when they saw each other, and Gibby lifted his backpack on his shoulder before walking across the hall.
"Hey Man."
"Hey Gibby, how's it going?"
"Pretty good. Did you hear that they opened a new arcade over by Frankie's Pizza?"
"Oh yeah, I heard something about that." Freddie confirmed.
"So, I was wondering —" Gibby started to ask before Carly and Sam walked up to them.
"Freddie, we need to talk to you about our new skit idea!" Carly said, excited.
"Okay, what have you got?"
"We were thinking we'd ask our viewers to send in skit ideas for us to perform." Carly told him.
"Why do I have the feeling this is going to get me roped into something embarrassing?" Freddie lamented.
"That's the fun of it, Freddio." Sam said, patting his arm. "You have to come too, Gibby. That way Freddie doesn't have to be embarrassed by himself."
"Yeah, great." Gibby replied.
After that the bell rang, and it was time for them to head to class. Gibby looked at Freddie with an awkward grin.
"Hey, I'll talk to you later." Freddie said, and Gibby waved, heading in the other direction.
By third period, Gibby makes his way into class sitting behind Freddie. Everyone is currently taking notes off of the lighted projector so Gibby tries to be quiet while talking to his friend. Now that they were in a class without the girls, Gibby thought this time he'd have better luck.
"Hey, so have you thought more about the arcade?" Gibby whispered.
"The one you were talking about earlier?"
"Yeah, we could hang out for the day. Maybe get pizza after?"
"Are Carly and Sam coming too?" Freddie asked.
Gibby nervously cleared his throat before continuing.
"Actually, I thought it could be just us guys."
This time it was the teacher's turn to clear his throat as he haunted the interruption from Freddie and Gibby. Both boys looked at him, before turning back to each other.
"I'll talk to you later at Carly's" Freddie whispered before turning back around.
Gibby huffed, slinking down in his seat. He wasn't looking forward to the iCarly team meeting, and what other humiliation they had planned for him.
Later while at home. Spencer is at the counter chiseling a stone block for his latest sculpture. He has just finished the top, and is now working his way to the bottom. He knew Carly was out with Sam, so he figured he could get some work done while she was out. As he dnamany times while he was working, Spencer had music playing in the apartment to get him in a creative mood. He was really feeling the music, and was in the zone while he was sculpting, so he didn't hear Carly and Sam come in until they spoke up.
"Hey, whatcha doin'?" Carly asked.
Spencer quickly spun around, standing in front of his sculpting.
"What, Me, Uh…nothing…nothing important." Spencer said, covering the sculpture with a cloth.
Carly laughed, walking closer to her older brother. "I can't see you working on something. Why won't you let me see it?"
"Yeah, come on. What's the big deal?" Sam asked, trying to lift the cloth.
"No! Nobody sees it until it's done!"
"Okay then." Carly laughed. "We'll be upstairs."
"Yeah, okay, you guys have fun." Spencer said.
Before long, Freddie came in with Gibby to join the girls.
"Hey Spencer." Freddie greeted.
"It's a surprise! Nobody can see it yet!" Spencer yelled, still blocking his sculpture.
"Okay…" Freddie said, confused.
Freddie and Gibby made their way upstairs as Spencer watched them until they were out of sight.
As soon as everybody entered the studio, the girls plopped down on bean bags while Carly pulled up the fan submissions on her laptop. Freddie was setting up cables at his computer with Gibby coming up next to him.
"Hey, so we never got to finish our conversation in class." Gibby said.
"Which one was that?"
"About going to the arcade." Gibby reminded him.
"Oh yeah." Freddie nodded. "We'll have to pick a time after our meeting." Freddie said.
Gibby nodded quietly while he and Freddie joined the girls, seated in the middle of the room.
"Okay, so the first one is for me and Sam to dress up like babies while eating oatmeal." Carly explained.
Gibby was happy to not be involved in that one, but the rest of the ideas didn't look promising for him. One idea was for a member of the team to touch blind items in a box. Sam suggested that she and Carly would pick out the items, and place them in the box for Gibby to guess what they were. Another idea was for a tricycle relay race, where the guys would go up against the girls. With that idea, at least it was a team competition, and Gibby wouldn't have to do it alone. They continued to read through some more fan submissions, some didn't look that interesting, and others they had done before. Finally Sam came across an idea that piqued her interest.
"Here, what about this one? This person wants us to have two people play catch with one hand tied behind their back, while the other two throws balls at them."
"Sounds like fun." Carly said. "Who's gonna play catch?"
"How about you and Gibby?" Sam suggested.
"Me again?" Gibby complained.
"Oh, come on, Gibby. Be a team player." Sam said, slapping his shoulder.
Carly and Sam got up to go search the house for items that could be used in the touch box, while Gibby sat still thinking. Of course he was happy to be a part of the group, and he did enjoy being on the show, but he was met with that same gurgle in the pit of his stomach anytime they pitched ideas. It seemed like he did a lot of dressing up in humiliating costumes, and having to do weird eating challenges, and it made Gibby wonder if he was just there to be the funny, fat kid for them to laugh at. Gibby wanted to say something about all the bits he was subjected to, but he didn't know how to do it. For now, now that he and Freddie had a moment alone, he decided to turn his attention to the weekend.
"Hey, so do you know what time you want to meet up for pizza? I was thinking around five would be good, that way we have plenty of time at the arcade." Gibby said.
"Uhm…" before Freddie could answer, his phone rang, and it was his mother at the other end.
"Hey mom…wait, what happened? Okay slow down, I…yes, I'll be home in a minute, I…yes, I'm on my way. Okay, bye."
Gibby sighed, hearing the urgency in Freddie's voice, as he hung up the phone.
"I'm sorry, that was my mom. There's an emergency with my Aunt, she fell down her back steps, and sprained her ankle."
"Okay, are we good for…" Gibby asked, before being cut off.
"I'm sorry, man. I'll call you later." Freddie said, rushing out the door.
Gibby slumped out the door behind him, not expecting to have such a hard time making plans with his friend. All he could do now was go home and wait.
So far Spencer has gotten a lot of work done on his special project, and is now working on the finishing touches. Luckily, he's had the house to himself for most of the day, while Carly and the others were at school, so there wouldn't be any interruptions. At some point, Spencer decided to take a break, and stop at the Groovy Smoothie for some replenishment. As he is coming through the door, he sees Carly and Sam coming up behind him, and he runs up to the apartment door to beat them inside. Carly and Sam come in to see Spencer practically drop his smoothie in order to cover up his sculpture. The girls were used to things like this for him by now, but still they couldn't help but be curious.
"Still working on your super secret project?" Carly asks.
"Yes, yes, you'll know what it is all in good time." Spencer said, picking his smoothie back up to take another sip.
"Okay, so when will the right time be? You've been working on that thing for over a week."
"Not yet! Nobody gets to see it until it's been completed, so no peeking at it early." Spencer exclaimed.
Carly laughs, "Okay, well we'll be upstairs filming, you have fun."
"Yeah, yeah, you too." Spencer said, and the girls went upstairs.
Show day is finally here, and Gibby walks in to see Sam and Carly setting up for the bit where they eat oatmeal dressed as babies. At least the first bit wasn't going to humiliate him, but he knew that wouldn't last. He turned to Freddie in hopes to finally nail down a time for the arcade, but he handed Gibby a spoon explaining that the two of them would be feeding Sam and Carly during the skit. Gibby quietly nodded while Freddie counted everyone off.
"In five, four, three, two…"
"Hey everyone! Now you're probably wondering why we're dressed in these baby bonnets, and that's because we decided to let you guys decide our skits for tonight!" Carly said, while Sam pressed the applause button on her remote.
The girls knelt down at the table while they were fed by Gibby and Freddie. So far things were going well, and Gibby even got a laugh out of what they were doing. It wasn't long however before Sam spit her mouthful of oatmeal all over Gibby, and let out a fake baby cry.
"Uh oh, messy baby." Carly said. "Well let's move on to our next skit, a blind touch box."
Carly set up the box, and walked Gibby over while Sam placed in the first item. He stood in front of the box, taking a deep breath, and reaching in. It felt soft, so far not dangerous, so he decided to give the item a squeeze. Gibby decided to take a guess that the item was cotton. He was right, and it was time for the next item. This time it was wet, squishy, and a little smelly. Gibby grimaced while thinking for awhile, and coming up with the answer of dog food. Again, he came up with the right answer, and now it was time for the third and final item. Gibby reached in, and this item was fuzzy. He couldn't make out the shape, but it felt fuzzy and spiky at the same time. Finally he discovered that the item inside was alive, as it ran to the side, and then started to crawl up his hand. Gibby freaked out, and threw the box on the ground.
"Oh my God! Is that a tarantula?" Gibby shouted!
"Alright Gibby, you're three for three!" Sam congratulated him.
"That thing could have bitten me!"
"Yeah, but it didn't." Sam said.
"Let's just move on to the next skit!"
Carly instructed Gibby to stand still while Freddie tied Gibby's left hand behind his back. She reassured him by reminding him that she was doing it too, and he nodded back, not saying anything. Gibby just wanted to get this over with, and get through the show. The object of this game was for Carly and Gibby to play catch one handed while Sam and Freddie threw balls at them, trying to get them to drop their ball. At least this would be the last one, and then Freddie and Gibby could finally focus on their plans. Freddie counted off, and Gibby and Carly started their game of catch. After a few tosses Freddie threw a ball, and then Sam with a couple shots hitting him in the head. Gibby was still able to keep going, and he continued to throw the ball back and forth with Carly. So far they still haven't dropped it, until Sam whipped a ball at Gibby's forehead, and then at his face.
"Okay, I'm done!" Gibby shouted, holding his hand up.
Carly turned to Freddie, and he decided to cut to a video of a girl teaching her dog to jump rope. Gibby struggled trying to untie himself, and Carly offered to help him.
"Gibby, are you okay?" Carly asked.
"I don't want to do this anymore!"
"Come on, man. I'm sorry; I didn't mean to hit you that hard." Sam told him.
"Yeah, you never do, but you keep doing things like this to me! I'm tired of being a joke to everyone!" Gibby shouted, while heading out the door.
"Gibby, wait! Come on, man, let's talk." Freddie said.
"What do you care? You can't even be bothered to hang out with me!" Gibby argued.
"Gibby, we're gonna hang out, I promise."
"Yeah right!" Gibby stormed out, leaving his friends feeling guilty.
The girls ended their show and said goodbye to their viewers before all of them stood there wondering what to do next.
"I should go talk to him." Freddie said.
"We should all go talk to him." Carly agreed.
Sam nodded along with her friends, and they made their way downstairs, hoping Gibby hadn't left yet.
The gang came downstairs to find Gibby sitting on the couch, resting his chin on his fists. Carly stood there with Sam, while Carly beckoned Sam to go over to him, but Sam only did the same to Carly. Freddie went up to him first, and sat down next to him. Gibby looked over to him for a moment, but didn't say anything. Freddie decided that he would start, looking for at least something he could say.
"Gibby look, I'm really sorry. I know our skits were a little crazy tonight, and we went too far."
"Yeah, we didn't mean for you to get hurt." Carly said, sitting on the other side of him.
Carly looks at Sam, while she looks awkwardly back and forth between Carly and Gibby, before speaking up.
"Yeah, uhm, I'm sorry I threw the ball at you so hard." Sam told him.
Gibby looks up at the three of them, seeing his friends looking back with pleading eyes. He huffs before responding.
"Well, thank you, but…it's not just that." Gibby said, turning to Freddie. "Freddie, I've been trying to make plans with you for two days, and you either keep getting distracted or keep forgetting to get back to me. Do you want to hang out with me or not?"
"Gibby, of course I want to hang out with you; I'm really sorry. Look if it's not too late, maybe we could hang out tonight. We'll go check out the arcade, and hang out just us guys. What do you say?" Freddie asked him.
Gibby looked at him, a part of him still wanting to be mad, but he just wanted to be done with all of this already. He looked up at Freddie finally smiling, and giving him a nod.
"Okay, let's go. I can't wait to beat you at skeeball."
"Oh, you're on, Buddy."
The guys head out, while the girls take this time to have a movie night on their own.
The pizza has arrived, and Carly and Sam are ready to watch a movie. Soon they see Spencer come out with his sculpture under a sheet that he is rolling out on a cart. Carly puts the remote down, seeing how excited her brother is, while she herself has been curious about what her brother has been working on.
"Ladies, it's finally time for the unveiling." Spencer told them.
"Cool, what is it?" Carly asked.
"Okay, are you ready?" Spencer asked them, and they both nodded. "Are you sure you're ready?"
"Yeah, what?" They both ask.
Spencer yanks the sheet away revealing a sculpture of a memory that was very familiar to Carly. It was of Spencer lifting a very young Carly up to put the star on the Christmas tree. Spencer modeled it after a picture their father took of the first time Carly was old enough to help decorate the tree. They both thought it would be special to let Carly add the final finishing touch, and put the star on top. Spencer helped Carly put it on, and their father wanted to capture this moment, and take a picture. Spencer had a better idea, and wanted to bring this moment to life for his sister, by sculpting this special moment between them.
"Spencer, I…I don't know what to say." Carly said, getting choked up.
"I'd never sculpted an image from a picture before, and I wanted this to be special for you."
Carly got up to hug him, and even Sam couldn't resist a smile.
"Thank you, big brother."
"You're welcome."
Carly looked up at him, wiping away her tears. "So do you want to watch the movie with us?"
"No, it's okay. I don't want to impose on your girls night."
"Really, it's no big deal. Come watch with us." Carly said, with Sam waving him over as well.
"Okay." Spencer said, grabbing drinks for all of them, and hopping on the couch with them.
Freddie and Gibby have been having a great time playing skeeball, and Gibby was in fact the winner, getting the most tickets. After that they played air hockey, and went through a bunch of crane machines, with Freddie only managing to win a stuffed frog. Even though they didn't get much from the crane machines, it was still fun to try.
After their gaming, the guys were sitting down to pizza and mozzarella sticks, while they had a much needed talk.
"Listen, I'm sorry again for the show, and for not listening to you when you tried to make plans."
"It's cool. I just don't want the show to be all about making a fool of me. I want to be included, but not like this." Gibby told him.
"Not to worry. I'll make sure to speak up for you, and we'll come up with something that's not humiliating."
"That sounds cool." Gibby said. "Also, you know…I had fun here tonight, and I want more guy time. I like hanging out with Carly and Sam, but it would be nice for us to get some time to talk once in awhile."
"Absolutely. I'd definitely like to do this again." Freddie said.
The two of them finished their pizza, and decided to go for a skeeball rematch, Freddie was determined to win more tickets, and have fun with Gibby while doing it.
