It was a beautiful evening in the Realm of Edenia as the sun slowly set over over the Grand Palace that belonged the Royal Family. As the sun slowly lowered, Mileena had admired the sunset on the stone balcony outside her new living quarters/bedroom on the west wing of the palace. Shortly after the Battle of Armageddon and defeating the Elemental Blaze on top of the Pyramid of Argus, the divine power from the Essence of the fire spawn had completely cleansed Mileena of her Tarkatan half: as the hideous face she deeply despised changed into a normal human face and her razor sharp shark like teeth became ordinary human teeth as well...transforming her into a full blooded Edenian and much to her surprise/eternal delight: Sindel invited her to join and become a member of the Royal Family, which she gladly and happily accepted.

As she watched the sun set and the sky slowly turned dark as night eventually arrived, Mileena had stepped back inside her quarters and closed the balcony doors behind her as she walked towards the dresser table on the left side of her queen's sized bed and couldn't help smile softly as she admired her new reflection in the mirror resting on top of the desk and gently raised her left hand up to caress her now normal and flawless face.

"By Argus...I-I still can't believe it. I'm no longer half Tarkatan and I'm...I'm beautiful. I'm truly beautiful." Mileena softly whispered with emotional tears slowly building in the corner of her eyes as she was overjoyed that she was no longer an Edenian-Tarkatan hybrid born from Shang Tsung's sorcery and more importantly: that her face, which was not only fully human, but an exact mirror image to Kitana's, which would make the denizens of their realm, along with the palace servants think of them as twin sisters.

"Indeed you are Mileena." A familiar female voice complimented, which caused Mileena to slightly jump and gasp in surprise as she turned around to see none other than Kitana, whom was standing right outside her living quarters with her arms folded behind her back and a gentle smile on her face.

"Oh Kitana, do you need something?" Mileena asked with a soft smile as she recovered from the initial shock, even though she was still surprised; as she never heard the door to her quarters open or Kitana stepping inside.

"I just thought I'd check to see how you were enjoying your new living quarters." Kitana answered in all modesty, which earned a soft grin from Mileena: as after the Essence of Blaze had rid her of Tarkatan half and Sindel decided to adopt and make her an official member of their family, she and Kitana had actually bonded and accepted each other as sisters; which ended the heated rivalry and deep animosity between them for good.

"Hmm, I love the quarters that Queen Sindel...I, mean, mother, kindly gave me; especially since its over looks the western courtyards." Mileena replied, stating how she greatly adored her living quarters and swiftly correcting herself when she referred to Sindel as her 'queen' instead of her mother; which Kitana noted and just as quickly understood: especially since the former hybrid was still adjusting to being part of the Royal Family.

"Wow...beautiful." Kitana softly whispered as she glanced out the glass balcony doors and smiled as she admired the beauty of the full moon that shined radiantly over the palace with Mileena following in her sister's gaze as she also turned to admire the sight of the moon.

"Yes. Indeed it is." Mileena softly replied as she agreed with Kitana as they both admired the beauty of the blue moon that illuminated the night sky before she turned back to the mirror and leaned forward as her shoulders started to quiver as she sobbed lightly.

"Mileena? Mileena what's wrong?" Kitana asked as she glanced back to her sister and heard her soft sobs as she lowered head the moment she turned to look back in the mirror and placed a gentle hand on her left shoulder.

"It's...It's nothing Kitana." Mileena answered as she glanced over her shoulder to face her sister, whom gasped softly as she noticed the tears slowly sliding from her eyes down her cheeks.

"Mileena, please. Talk to me. What's the matter?" Kitana softly asked as she implored her sister to tell her what caused her to be so sad, so she could help her feel better.

"Oh, Kitana. Nothing's wrong. These aren't tears of sadness. Their...Their tears of joy. For so long, for so many years...I've hated you, planning my revenge and to take my rightful place as the true daughter of Kahn and Queen Sindel and heir to the throne of our home realm, Edenia. And after fighting my way to the top of the Pyramid and defeating Blaze...I have everything I've always wanted and dreamed for: a home where I rightfully belong and a family. Although...sometimes I wonder if I truly deserve it: my new life. If I truly deserve to be happy." Mileena answered softly as she explained to Kitana that the tears she saw weren't ones of pain/sadness...but of joy; as defeating Blaze didn't just cleanse/free her of her Tarkatan half, which she deeply despised and viewed as a curse and made her normal, it also bestowed her upon her a 2nd gift: a home and family...whilst softly admitting that she pondered if she truly deserved any of it with somber eyes as she raised her right hand and placed its over her heart while turning back to the mirror.

As she listened to her sister explain the cause of her tears and watched her sister turn around with her back towards her...Kitana couldn't help but smile in empathy as she slowly approached Mileena and gently wrapped her arms around waist, much to her great surprise.

"Of course you deserve it Mileena. I'll admit...I spent so many years hating you as well, especially since you were one of Shao Khan's minions created by Shang Tsung's sorcery...and that it sickened me: how Shang had used me as your template and crossed Tarkatan DNA with my very own and how you had the nerve to call to me 'sister'. And yet...here we are; accepting each other as siblings and actual family." Kitana countered as she assured Mileena that she indeed deserved the life that the Essence of Blaze had granted her whilst softly resting her forehead with the back of her sister's head...which caused a warm and tender smile to form on Mileena's lips; as she was deeply touched by her sister's kind words and gently placed her left hand over Kitana's.

"...Thank you Kitana. It's nice to finally have a sister." Mileena softly stated as she turned to face Kitana without breaking the embrace and thanked her for kind and heart-soothing words while raising her right hand up to her sister's face and gently caressed her delicate cheek which caused Kitana to close her eyes and sigh softly from the affectionate gesture and moment between them.

"Well...that's just it, Mileena. Maybe...we could be more..." Kitana started softly with a tender smile on her face as she felt butterflies in her stomach as she gently placed her own right hand over Mileena's.

"More? More than what?" Mileena softly asked as she was slightly confused and curious to what Kitana meant by 'more'...and she would be deeply stunned/taken back by the answer.

"We could be more...more than sisters." Kitana answered softly as she raised both her hands up to cup Mileena's beautiful face and tenderly caressed her cheeks in the palm of her hands.

"How we treated each other in the past...is done. We can't change it, but we can move forward. Besides...I want to show you how much I truly care about and more importantly...love you." Kitana replied with gentle eyes as she softly cupped and caressed Mileena's face, with her sister closing her eyes as she tenderly brushed and stroked her fingers across her flawless cheeks.
