Nigel was currently on trial by both Tendai and Chief Sekhuru. Nigel for his part didn't appear afraid. They already knew Nigel was guilty but asked how he pleaded as a formality.
"Guilty. I admit it. I teamed up with the lizard and was happy to destroy this place in the name of vengeance. But I was defeated and despite appearing calm, I'm raging in the inside he isn't dead". He pointed to Blu.
Chief Sekhuru gave a sad sigh. "You aren't the first bird to work with Budzo, but unlike them, you clearly regret none of it".
"I regret he continues breathing". His feather continued to point at Blu.
Tendai glared. "Me and Sekhuru don't like the idea of execution, but you followed him all the way from South America to simply kill. Exiling you would be pointless. You're clearly trouble even without being able to fly".
"You want me to beg. To promise to leave him alone if you spare me. Isn't going to happen"!
Sekhuru looked to Tendai. "Execution might be necessary but personally I'd prefer another way of dealing with him. Perhaps imprisonment to somewhere".
Gabi appeared and attached herself to him. "If you're going to kill him, please kill me with him. I can't live in a world without him"!
The seriousness now turned into the comical display of him trying and unable to remove her. Tendai and Sekhuru looked at each other, then smirked. Tendai turned back to him. "As punishment for your crimes, we are putting you in the custody of the frog".
Nigel panicked. "No"!
Both him and were taken to the other side. Gabi pulled him away, as he was struggling and panicking. "Execute me, imprison me, exile me to the Arctic or on a unmapped island, anything but this"! Charlie witnessed this. But was happy to leave Nigel to his fate. Plus, he probably couldn't take Gabi if he tried.
The other birds were on full celebration. They partied for the entire day to night to the early morning. Even Ezee brought over Charlie from the other side to enjoy the party. Blu and Jewel danced together as did Kai and Zoe. Tendai was still a terrible dancer. Even Blu was cringing.
Rafael knew he needed to bring his wife and kids here one day. And both Nico and Pedro too. He was the main one to keep the party going.
Later that night, Blu and his family all snuggled together. Less awkward that the previous night.
Kai continued laughing. "Your friend Rafael passed out on a tree branch and I thought Ezee liked to party".
Blu gave a shrug. "I'll get him in the morning".
Weeks passed, apparently Nigel and Gabi were found by humans, amazed to see them 'bonding' and took them for study. As for Budzo, he was also found by humans and moved to a zoo, somewhere in Europe so it is highly unlikely he will be a bother again. As for Tendai, his wings were back to normal.
And as for Jewel and the kids, life in Zambezia was working out for them. But Blu felt a bit bad. He knew Jewel would like to see her dad. He attempted to convince her to visit him, promising to be here when she returned. But Jewel didn't want to part with Blu, not after so much time apart already.
Blu and Zoe were currently talking about it. "I know she would like to visit the amazon, but won't leave without me".
Zoe responded. "You could head with her. Just pointing that out".
"Zoe, I told you how badly I messed up. I wouldn't be welcome and truthfully…"
"Truthfully what"?
"Jewel surprised me before with announcing that place as our new home, what if she tries it again".
"Seeing what happened before, with you fleeing, I don't think she'd take the risk".
Blu frowned. "I know that was a joke, but it wasn't funny".
Kai appeared. "Mistakes happen, some now and again, others more often. But it is never too late to learn from it".
"I see your point, but I don't know".
"What if I come with you"?
"I don't know. Rafael, Nico and Pedro weren't able to save me from myself".
Zoe smiled. "Likely because they knew you didn't need saving".
"And there's also Eduardo".
Kai and Zoe shared a collective cringe. They forgot the in laws.
"My point exactly. He didn't like me before I messed everything up. What do you think might happen to the guy who abandoned his girl who he cherishes".
Kai and Zoe couldn't make a counter argument there.
Thankfully, Tendai showed up. "Perhaps I could be of assistance".
Kai and Blu shared confused looks.
Tendai went on. "I can be there to make sure Blu isn't killed. Plus, perhaps I can offer my assistance with the nut grove".
Zoe asked. "How".
"Simple. I can convince both sides for meeting to discuss a negotiation. Perhaps if Eduardo offers something, his rival might return their part of the nutgrove. Plus, I can ensure Blu isn't murdered the moment he returns".
It was decided then. Blu went to discuss returning to the Amazon with his family. Tendai discussed his plan with Sekhuru who nodded. He turned to Zoe. "I'll miss you dearly".
"I left here before".
"Not that far, but I know you're capable of looking after yourself. Please tell me all about it when you return".
"I promise I will".
The next day, Blu, Jewel, their kids, Rafael, Kai, Zoe and Tendai left for South America. Ezee would miss his pals, but he had Charlie for company.
Rafael smirked. "Pedro and Nico returned to the city, after you left. After this adventure, you gotta make face there too".
Blu nodded. He preferred the city to the jungle, no competition. Plus it would be great to see Linda after so long.
