As Pepper was consoling Tony, Happy approached with a laptop. "Are you sure you want to watch the footage?" He asked Tony.
"Which footage?" Pepper asked, glancing between them."The recording of the incident when Peter was fighting with Toomes." Happy replied.
Pepper looked at Tony, concern etched on her face. "Are you... can you?" She asked gently.
Tony took a deep breath, his eyes locking with Pepper's. He could see the concern and hesitation in her eyes, mirroring his own turmoil. But he knew he needed to see it, to understand what Peter had gone through. Maybe it would provide some clues to help them better understand his condition.
"I have to." Tony said quietly, his voice steady despite the emotional storm raging within him. "I need to know what happened."Pepper squeezed his hand gently, offering her silent support.
Happy set the laptop on a nearby table and opened the file, his expression grim.
As the footage played, Tony, Pepper, and Happy watched in horrified silence. The building collapsing on Peter was a nightmare come to life. Tony's heart clenched as he saw the panic in Peter's eyes, the sheer weight of the debris pressing down on him.
In the video, Peter's voice, strained and desperate, echoed in the room. "Help! Somebody help!" The sound of rubble shifting and the creak of collapsing structures filled the silence. Tony's hand tightened around Pepper's, her presence grounding him as his eyes become teary which they witnessed the harrowing scene.
Peter's struggle was agonizing to watch. He tried to push the debris off, his voice breaking as he called for help again. "Come on, Peter," Tony whispered under his breath, his voice trembling with emotion. "You can do it."
The video continued, showing Peter's face, a mixture of fear and determination. Despite the overwhelming weight, he didn't give up. He took a deep breath, focusing all his strength "I can do it , I can...come on spider man! Come on spider man !" He said to himself and started to lift the rubble bit by bit.
And finally, with a monumental effort, Peter managed to free himself. Relief washed over Tony, and he felt a tear escape down his cheek. Peter had done it, he had survived.
Tony exhaled shakily as Pepper reached up to wipe away his tear, her own eyes glistening with unshed tears."He's incredible," Tony said, his voice barely above a whisper. "He's been through so much."
"That kid's got more guts than anyone I've ever known," Happy said quietly.Tony nodded, his heart swelling with pride and worry. "We need to be there for him," He said, looking at Pepper and Happy. "He needs us now more than ever."
At that moment, the door to the med bay opened, and Doctor Cho stepped out, her expression serious but hopeful. Tony and Pepper immediately turned their attention to her, their hearts pounding with anticipation.
"How is he?" Tony asked, his voice filled with anxiety.Doctor Cho gave them a reassuring smile. "He's stable," she said. "He's been through a lot, but he's a fighter. We're keeping him under close observation, but I believe he'll make a full recovery."
Relief flooded Tony, and he felt his knees weaken. Pepper's arms were around him in an instant, holding him up as the weight of the past hours finally caught up with him.
"Thank you," Tony whispered, his voice choked with emotion.Doctor Cho nodded, her smile warm. " That's my job. "
Tony nodded and asked "Can we see him ?"
Doctor Cho nodded, her smile warm. "Yes, you can see him." She said. "He's resting now, but he's conscious. Just try not to overwhelm him too much."Tony and Pepper exchanged a relieved glance before following Doctor Cho into the med bay.
Inside, they found Peter lying on the bed with close eyes, looking pale and exhausted but very much alive.
Tony sit on a chair near the bed and placed his hand gently on Peter's head, Peter's eyes fluttered open as it meets Tony's.
" Da...dad " He wishpered.
"Hey, kid," Tony said softly, his voice filled with a mixture of relief and concern. "How are you feeling?"
Peter blinked slowly, trying to gather his strength. "Tired," he admitted weakly. "But... I'm okay."
Pepper leaned in, her eyes glistening with tears. "You scared us, Peter," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "But we're so proud of you."
"Why ?" Peter asked confused.
Pepper exchanged a glance with Tony before answering, her voice gentle. "Because you didn't give up, Peter. You fought through something incredibly tough and came out the other side."
Tony nodded, his hand still resting on Peter's head. "You showed real strength, kid. What you did... it was nothing short of heroic."
Peter's brow furrowed slightly as he tried to process their words."So, you guys are not mad at me?"
They looked confused until Tony asked, "Why would we be mad?"Peter hesitated for a moment before looked down.
"Are you talking about how you ran away from home without your suit?" Tony asked.
Peter nodded slightly, his eyes filling with tears. "Yeah," he whispered. "I thought... maybe you'd be mad because I didn't listen. Because I put myself in danger."
Tony's expression softened, and he leaned in closer, his voice gentle but firm. "Peter, we're not mad. We're worried because we care about you. But what you did out there... it was incredibly brave. You saved lives."Pepper added, "We just want you to be safe, Peter. Your safety is more important than anything else."
Tony nodded in agreement and then asked softly, "But I do need to know, Peter. Why did you run off like that without informing us or taking your suit? I'm not mad, I just want to understand."
Peter looked down, his expression pained.
--Papper he is not a baby to be felt lonely. He can take care of himself.--
" Pete ?"
Peter looked at his father and said "I... I didn't want to disappoint you, I thought if I told you, you'd try to stop me."
Tony's heart ached at Peter's words. He could see the weight of responsibility the young hero carried, and it mirrored his own experiences.
"Peter, I understand why you did it. You have a heart of gold, and you always want to do the right thing. But you have to remember that you're not alone in this. We're here to help you, to support you."
"I'm sorry," Peter whispered. "I didn't mean to make you worry. I just wanted to help."
Tony reached out and gently cupped Peter's face, his voice tender. "You did help, and you did it incredibly well. You proved yourself what spider man is capable of. I am proud of you."
Peter nodded, a small smile breaking through his exhaustion. " Thank you"
Tony smiled back, his own eyes misting over. "Good. Now get some rest, kid. You've earned it." Peter nodded, his exhaustion evident in every line of his face.
"Dad...can you..." Peter began, but his sentence was cut off by Pepper's phone ringing. She glanced at the caller ID and then looked at Tony with concern.
"It's from S.H.I.E.L.D. They need you. I guess it's their fifth time calling." Pepper said, her voice tinged with worry.
Tony sighed, reluctantly pulling himself away from Peter's bedside. "I'll take this outside," He said to Pepper, already reaching for his phone.
Pepper nodded understandingly, giving Tony a reassuring smile. "I'll stay with Peter. Go take care of whatever it is they need."
With a grateful nod, Tony stepped out of the med bay to take the call from S.H.I.E.L.D.
Peter watched his father walk away, feeling a mix of emotions swirl inside him. He knew he had to be strong, that he couldn't expect his father to always be there for him. After all, he was grown up now, and he couldn't behave as if the world revolved around him. He had to let his father do his job, even if it meant being apart from him sometimes.
With these thoughts weighing on his mind, Peter closed his eyes, allowing himself to relax as he felt Pepper's gentle hand caressing his hair. He cherished the comforting gesture, but it was nothing compared to the feeling of his dad's touch, which always felt like heaven to him.
It feels like he may never get that feeling again in the future.
To be continued...
