It was a warm day in the Great Valley.
For anyone, it was a normal and ordinary day, but for someone it wasn't like that.
That someone was Littlefoot and that day wasn't an ordinary day for him, but a very, very special day, for it was the day his father's herd would visit the valley.
When he lost his mother, he thought that his grandparents were all the family he had left, but everything changed when he went on that longneck migration with them.
When they arrived at their destination, Littlefoot saw many longnecks, but there was one that marked him forever.
His name was Bron and he was his father, the father he didn't even know he still had.
Littlefoot was happier than he had ever been in his life, for he finally had a father.
However, when the migration ended, Littlefoot had a difficult decision to make.
Stay with his grandparents and friends or go with his father.
At first, he didn't know what to do, but in the end, he understood what he really wanted and decided to stay in the Great Valley, hoping that he would see his father again whenever he and his herd visited the Great Valley.
Of course, there was a time when his herd came, but he didn't, and Littlefoot and his friends had to travel a long journey to find and rescue him.
Littlefoot hoped that such a thing that didn't happen that time and was also excited, as he could introduce Korra to his father, as well as show off his powers.
In short, for him it was the day.
"Today is the day!" exclaimed Littlefoot joyfully as he ran down the valley.
Elsewhere, there was Topps quietly eating just as Littlefoot, arrived at his side.
"Mr. Threehorns, is Cera around?" asked Littlefoot.
"She's gone to the swimming hole. What's the hurry?" asked Topps as the longneck hurried away.
"Today's the day my dad comes back!" said Littlefoot cheerfully.
"Heh. I wonder how he'll react when he finds out about his powers and his new friends?" said Topps before going back to his business.
Littlefoot
Hey, hey, hey.
Today's the day.
My dad's coming home from far away.
We'll race and we'll run and we'll laugh and play.
I feel so happy that I've got to say.
Hey, hey, hey.
Today is the day.
As he made his way to the swimming hole, he didn't notice that a certain quartet had just arrived in the Great Valley.
Meanwhile, in the swimming hole, Ducky and Spike were standing next to a small nest with eggs.
Ducky
Yep, yep, yep.
The time is near.
Our brothers and sisters will soon be here.
I will teach them to swim and to be your friend.
Ducky let out a gasp when she saw that Spike was getting dangerously close to the eggs.
You will teach them to stay away from your rear end
Hey, hey, hey.
Today is the day.
"Hey, guys!" said Petrie arriving on the scene.
Petrie
It spring, it spring, and me feel like flying.
In spring, no one be grumpy or grouch.
When me up in the air and sky-ing.
Suddenly, the breeze blew so hard it swept Petrie away.
"Hey, stop! Oh!" exclaimed Petrie crashing into a couple of rocks like a pinball game before falling into the swimming hole.
Just then, along came Cera, Chomper and Ruby.
"You just barely missed the hatchlings, Petrie." said Cera.
"Oh, Petrie real sorry." said Petrie apologetically to the eggs.
"They haven't born yet. They can't hear you." said Chomper.
"There's no use apologizing if they can't hear you apologize and since nothing happened in the end there's no need to apologize for it either." said Ruby.
"No listen to them…" whispered Petrie to the eggs.
That's when Littlefoot came from the top of a steep slope and as he was going to join them, he tripped over a rock and slid down the slope to the bottom and upright.
Littlefoot chuckled at the way he got there.
"Hey guys! You know what day today is?" asked Littlefoot.
"I do!" said Cera encouragingly, making the longneck grin at the thought that she was referring to his own.
Cera
Hey, hey, hey.
Today's the day.
When I'm gonna blow that rock away,
I'll hit it so hard it'll break in two.
You'll be amazed at what I can do.
Hey, hey, hey.
"Okay, get ready." said Cera preparing to charge.
Soon after, she ran quickly towards the large rock that was in the stream that connected to the swimming hole.
When she reached it, she hit it and with her earthbending, not only split it in two, but sent it away like a baseball.
"What'd I tell you?" asked Cera proud of her accomplishment.
Cera
I moved the rock!
Ducky
We are very, very glad.
Petrie
Me fly so high.
Littlefoot
I'm gonna see my dad.
Petrie
It the flying-est,
Ducky
swimming-est,
Littlefoot
happiest,
Cera
springiest,
The gang
day.
Today's the day.
Chomper
Today is the day.
The gang
Today's the day.
Ruby
Today the day.
The gang
Today's the day!
As the gang laughed, they suddenly heard a cracking sound.
They looked at the source to discover that it was the eggs, which were beginning to crack open.
"The eggs." said Ducky in surprise that the time had come.
They all stood around the nest and then, one of the new little brothers or sisters of Ducky and Spike broke the shell.
"Hello, little guy." said Petrie.
The newborn hatchling greeted Petrie by grabbing his beak with his mouth, which made the others laugh.
"He got you, Petrie!" said Littlefoot.
"Literally." said Chomper.
"He sure do." said Petrie with his beak hooked before breaking free.
At that moment, the rest of the hatchlings hatched.
"So cute." said Cera.
"I never get tired of watching this, and I could watch it a lot of times." said Ruby.
"I am Ducky, your sister. And this is Spike, your adopteded brother." said Ducky introducing herself and her little brother to her new little brothers and sisters.
Spike let out a whimper by way of greeting.
"And me Petrie, your adopteded brother's… Uh… Me just Petrie." said Petrie chuckling nervously as the others laughed lightly.
"And that's not all. No, no, no. He and I and our friends all have special powers. Show them, Spike." said Ducky.
Spike nodded his head before using earthbending to create a path that led from the nest to the edge of the swimming hole.
The hatchlings didn't hesitate to walk along the earth path and when they reached the edge, they jumped from it into the water as if it were a trampoline, thus beginning, their first swimming steps.
"Hi, guys!"
A familiar voice made everyone look up the hill Littlefoot came over.
There, they all saw Korra, Mako, Bolin and Asami, who had returned to the valley to visit their friends.
"Wow, this is just what was missing to make this day the best day ever. Our friends are here!" said Littlefoot with a big smile.
Carefully, they all quietly made their way down the hill to avoid tripping, slipping and sliding or rolling down the hill.
"What are you all doing here?" asked Mako.
"You've come at a good time. Yep, yep, yep. Our new brothers and sisters have just been born." said Ducky showing off her new little brothers and sisters.
"Wow. Congratulations. You're big brother and sister now." said Bolin with a smile.
"Actually, this isn't the first litter their mother has had. She's had several eggs before." said Cera remembering that time one of those eggs was stolen.
"Really? Well I don't know whether to be happy for her or feel sorry for her." said Korra, since for her, having a lot of hatchlings must have been really hard.
"Well, I would be happy. They're so cute." said Asami bending down and reaching her finger towards one of the hatchlings who grabbed it with its hands, causing the engineer to chuckle at how cute it was.
"Listen, these are our special friends. Especially Korra, since there is no one like her." said Ducky to his little brothers and sisters.
"Please, Ducky. You're embarrassing me." said Korra slightly blushing.
To everyone's surprise, the hatchlings quickly jumped out of the water and started climbing on top of the Avatar.
That made her so surprised that she ended up falling into the water, which wasn't that deep, while the hatchlings walked around her body in a curious manner, which made her laugh.
"No, stop! That tickles!" said Korra laughing.
"They seem to like you, Korra." said Mako with a smile.
"Or should we call you Aunt Korra?" asked Bolin with a smile, making everyone burst out laughing.
Asami gave a little clap to get the hatchlings' attention.
"Come on, little ones. Don't bother Aunt Korra too much." said Asami.
The hatchlings left the Avatar to run over to the engineer, who started petting it.
"Right. Better go to Aunt Asami." said Korra with a smile that the engineer returned.
At that moment, they all heard some huge footsteps made and as they looked up the hill, they saw that it was Littlefoot's grandparents.
"Grandpa! Grandma! Look, it's the hatchlings! And our friends are back." said Littlefoot.
"Ah. What a special today this is!" said Littlefoot's grandma.
"Today! I forgot!" said Littlefoot happily.
"What is it today? Is it something special?" asked Korra as she stood up.
"Very special. Today my dad is coming to the Great Valley." said Littlefoot.
"Your dad?" asked Korra in surprise.
"Oh, yes. You said he was the leader of a migrating herd and that's why he was always on a trip." said Mako.
"That's right and today is the day he and his herd come to the valley." said Littlefoot.
"Really? I'm happy for you, Littlefoot." said Asami with a smile.
"I bet you didn't get much sleep because of how excited you were about this day, did you?" asked Bolin.
"Well, yes. In fact, why don't you come with me to meet him? Then you can meet him." said Littlefoot.
"Meet him? Sounds… cool." said Korra with a nervous smile.
"Great. And we can show him our powers, too." said Cera.
"Yep, yep, yep. I'm sure he'll like you all." said Ducky as Spike nodded in response.
"Last time we saw him we didn't have powers, but now that we do it would be an unique surprise for him because he would not expect seeing us bending the elements." said Ruby.
"And tell him about our adventures in the other world." said Chomper.
"Great. Here we go." said Littlefoot.
"Wait, what about the hatchlings? We can't leave them alone." said Asami.
"Oh, don't worry. My mother should be coming by now. She'll take care of them." said Ducky.
"Oh, well. That relief." said Petrie.
The entire group was walking through the meadows of the Great Valley toward the opening in the wall where the herd of the father of Littlefoot would enter.
"So, what's your dad like, Littlefoot?" asked Korra.
"He's the best. I'm sure he'll like you." said Littlefoot.
"Yeah, me too." said Korra with a nervous smile before backing away to go back to the other humans.
"Korra, what's wrong with you? You look nervous." said Mako.
"And I am, Mako. I'm going to meet Littlefoot's dad and I want to make a good impression on him. But what if I don't? What if he doesn't like me? What if he doesn't want Littlefoot and I to be together? What if he decides to take Littlefoot away from us and me?" asked Korra being so nervous she tugged on the pigtails of her hair.
"Hey, hey, hey. Calm down." said Mako putting his hand on her shoulder, managing to calm her down a little. "I understand why you're nervous, but you have nothing to worry about. I know he'll like you."
"Are you sure?" asked Korra.
"Of course. I'm telling you, Asami's father liked me the first time." said Mako.
"You mean the same man who was acting the whole time and hated your guts?" asked Korra with an arched eyebrow.
"Okay, fair point, but I stand by what I said. If you're yourself, he's sure to like you. Besides, I highly doubt Littlefoot would let his father take him away from his sister." said Mako with a grin.
"Yeah, you're right." said Korra with a smile.
"You must be proud of him. I mean, he's the leader of an entire herd." said Bolin.
"Yes, I am. However, because of that, he can't be with me all the time." said Littlefoot.
"Don't you feel bad about that? After all, you don't see him very often." said Asami.
"I know. In fact, at first, I was planning to go with him." began Littlefoot, much to the Avatar's surprise and concern. "But then I realized that I didn't want to leave my grandparents and my friends. Besides, if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met all of you." said Littlefoot, causing all four humans to smile.
"True. And you wouldn't have experienced everything we did in the other world, we wouldn't have come there either." said Ruby.
"And you wouldn't have become a firebender either." said Chomper.
"Or my little brother." began Korra stroking the longneck's head. "I think you made, without a doubt, the right decision."
"Besides, you weren't going to stop seeing him forever. Being a migratory herd, they would come to the Great Valley at some point. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky.
"Right. In fact, not only do I expect you to meet my father, but Shorty as well." said Littlefoot.
"Shorty? If I remember correctly, you told us he's your foster brother. The one your father took in before his herd was formed." said Mako.
"Yes, that's the one." said Littlefoot.
"And what's he like?" asked Asami.
"Very rough, for a longneck, and a little mischievous." said Cera.
"Really? Well, I'm starting to like him already." said Korra.
"Now that I realize, where was Shorty when it happened to rescue Bron?" asked Ducky, realizing that he wasn't there when Bron's herd arrived without him and they had to go rescue him.
"Mmm. Me not have thought about it until now." said Petrie with a shrug.
Later, they all went to the opening in the wall, where Littlefoot was anxiously awaiting his father's arrival.
"Do you see him coming? Do you see him coming?" asked Littlefoot anxiously to his grandparents.
"Hehe. Be patient, Littlefoot. He must be close by now." said Littlefoot's grandfather.
Suddenly, they all heard a scream from a distance.
"What is that?" asked Bolin.
"Sounds like someone is in danger." said Asami.
"Quick, let's go check it out." said Mako.
"That won't be necessary. I recognize that scream." said Chomper.
"And it's from someone who isn't in danger even if it sounds like he's in danger." said Ruby.
That's when, through the opening, came a strange feathered bipedal dinosaur that was running around waving its arms like a madman as it screamed.
"Who's that?" asked Korra very confused.
"It's Wild Arms. A member of my dad's herd." said Littlefoot.
"I think I'm getting why they call him that." said Asami.
"Wild Arms!" exclaimed Littlefoot.
Hearing that, the bipedal dinosaur stopped running and slid along the ground until he stopped right in front of the others.
"Oh, hello, Littlefoot. Hehe. I see you haven't changed since last time." said Wild Arms as he waved his arms like a madman.
"You haven't changed a bit either." said Chomper.
"Hehe. I see you still have your little friend, the sharptooth." said Wild Arms nervously as he backed up a little.
"Not only that. We have new friends." said Petrie pointing to the humans.
"Huh? What strange creatures." said Wild Arms confused by the humans.
"Said the pot to the kettle." muttered Mako.
"Nice to meet you, Wild Arms." said Korra.
"Same here, whoever you are." said Wild Arms.
"Hey, Wild Arms, nothing bad happened like last time, did it?" asked Littlefoot hoping his father wasn't in trouble again.
"Oh, no. Don't worry. Fortunately, there was no fire mountain. Well, there was the occasional sharptooth, but that's normal when you're traveling around. So all good." said Wild Arms waving his arms like a madman.
"Hey, where's Etta? Isn't she with you?" asked Cera.
"Does it look like I need a babysitter to watch me all the time?" asked Wild Arms.
"Well, it looks like it." commented Bolin.
"During our trip, Etta decided to go off on her own. After that, we didn't hear from her anymore." said Wild Arms.
"Oh, I hope she's okay wherever she is. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky.
Just then, they began to hear heavy footsteps.
"Oh, here they come." said Wild Arms looking toward the opening.
Looking over, they all saw that, through the opening, several dinosaurs of different species passed by.
"Wow. Hearing about migrators is one thing, but seeing them is quite another." said Bolin.
"It must be quite a responsibility to be a leader of a herd. Making sure everyone is safe and well." said Mako.
"Put that way, it's not so different from being a company director." said Asami comparing her office to Bron's duty.
"They're here!" said Littlefoot before running off.
"Littlefoot, wait." said Korra before chasing after him.
Littlefoot was thinking of nothing else but meeting his father after so long.
In fact, he was so focused on meeting him that he didn't see something getting in his way, which caused him to trip and fall to the ground.
"Haha. I see you keep falling for that trick."
Littlefoot's eyes widened in surprise at the sound of that familiar voice and he quickly got up to find that the one who tripped him was…
"Shorty! You've come!" said Littlefoot glad to see his adopted brother.
"Well, you know that. Where Bron goes, there I'll be." said Littlefoot.
"Hey, you!"
The two longnecks looked to the side to see Korra approaching them with a scowl on her face.
"I saw what you did. How dare you trip him like that?" asked Korra to Shorty.
"What? How?" asked Shorty very confused.
"It's okay, Korra. Shorty is like that." said Littlefoot.
"Wait, Shorty? You're Littlefoot's foster brother?" asked Korra surprised that this would be their first meeting.
"Yes. And who are you?" asked Shorty.
"I'm Korra, Littlefoot's other sister." said Korra.
"Another sister?" asked Shorty surprised and confused before looking at his brother. "Since when do you have such a… peculiar sister? No offense."
"None taken." said Korra with a shrug.
"It's a long story I'll be happy to tell you and my dad. Where is he?" asked Littlefoot looking around in search of his father.
"Well, he shouldn't be long and…" began Shorty.
"Littlefoot."
The three of them turned their gaze in the same direction and saw a brown-skinned longneck.
That was none other than Bron, Littlefoot's father and leader of the herd.
"Dad!" exclaimed Littlefoot happily before running to him and when he reached him, the two rubbed their heads together in a hug. "I've missed you."
"Me too. Part of me was thinking about making us all run to get there as soon as possible." said Bron with a smile.
"Hehe. You wouldn't do something like that, would you?" asked Littlefoot with a smile.
"Of course I wouldn't. As much as I'd like to see you often, I have responsibilities as herd leader." said Bron.
"Hey, while you're here, can we spend time together, huh? Can we?" asked Littlefoot wanting as much time with his dad as possible.
"Hehe. Of course we will. I wouldn't have a better way to spend my time here." said Bron.
"Oh, dad. There's someone I want you to meet. Come." said Littlefoot before leading his father over to where Korra was.
Needless to say, Korra got a little nervous when she saw Littlefoot's father approaching her.
She knew she had to follow Mako's advice to be herself, but she feared that wouldn't be enough.
"Dad, this is Korra. She's a very important friend. In fact, I consider her my big sister and part of my family." said Littlefoot.
"Really? Mmm. Well, I don't consider her as such." said Bron with a frown of suspicion.
"Uh… I-I'm sorry if that bothers you, sir. I just…" began Korra nervously before Bron burst out laughing lightly.
"Ah, I was just teasing you. If Littlefoot considers you family, I do too. And call me 'Bron'." said Bron.
That made Korra's nerves disappear completely and replaced it with a smile of joy and relief.
"Okay, Bron." said Korra.
"By the way, where exactly did you meet her? She doesn't sound anything like her to me." said Shorty.
"Neither do I, and I've traveled to many corners of the world." said Bron.
"That's exactly it." said Littlefoot.
"What do you mean?" asked Shorty.
"We'll explain it to you later. Let's go with the others." said Littlefoot.
Even though Bron and Shorty had their questions, they were confident they would get the answers in no time.
Soon after, they arrived where the others were.
"Ah, I see you got there safely this time, Bron." said Littlefoot's grandfather.
"Well, I learned not to be so careless next time." said Bron.
"We're glad you got here safe and sound. A lot has changed since last time." said Littlefoot's grandmother.
"Yes, I've noticed. Littlefoot has made a very special friend." said Bron looking at Korra and the other humans.
"Yes and she has helped your son become more special than ever." said Littlefoot's grandfather.
"What does that mean?" asked Bron with an eyebrow arched in confusion.
Littlefoot's grandmother chuckled.
"I guess you'll find that out in a little while." said Littlefoot's grandmother.
Bron had grown more confused.
What did they know that he didn't? What happened while he was away? Did it have something to do with Korra, Littlefoot's new sister, in addition to the other humans he had?
He really hoped his son would answer all those questions for him.
"So you are Littlefoot's dad." said Mako looking at Littlefoot's father.
"And you are Littlefoot's brother." said Bolin looking at Littlefoot's adopted brother.
"Yes, I am. Who are you? Are you the same species as Korra?" asked Shorty.
"That's right. I'm Mako." said Mako.
"I'm his younger brother, Bolin." said Bolin introducing himself.
"And I, Asami Sato. It's a pleasure to meet you both." said Asami.
"They are also friends of ours." said Littlefoot.
"Okay. Can you tell us already where they came from?" asked Shorty.
"And what did your grandparents mean when they said that you are more special now than before?" asked Bron.
"Like I said. It's a long story." said Littlefoot.
For the next few minutes, Littlefoot and the others were telling both Bron and Shorty all about traveling between worlds and bending powers.
"Wait, wait, wait. Are you seriously saying that they came from another world that you got to through a mystical stone and now you have powers?" asked Shorty.
"Yes, that's what we're saying." said Chomper.
Shorty was quiet for a few seconds before he laughed a little.
"Do you think I hatched yesterday? There's no way such a thing is possible." said Shorty.
"Not that I doubt you, Littlefoot, but it's hard to believe something like that." said Bron being respectful.
It was then that Team Avatar Dinosaur looked at each other and nodded mutually.
Littlefoot, Chomper, Korra and Mako shot several fireballs into the air.
Cera, Spike and Bolin stomped the ground hard, causing some rocks to pop up from the ground.
Ducky and Ruby took some water out of their canteens and made it move like a snake making a figure eight before returning it to its place.
Petrie flew into the air and spun quickly to create a small tornado which he quickly undid.
Needless to say, both Bron and Shorty gasped at the sight.
"Well, what do you say now?" asked Cera with a smile.
"I… I… I…" began Shorty not knowing what exactly to say.
"How is that possible?" asked Bron.
"Well, according to Tenzin, it seems that Littlefoot and the others have the same chi as the benders of our world. Because they were there for a while, the energy from our world caused them to awaken their powers." said Korra explaining as best she could.
"And from that time on Korra trained us so that we could control our elemental powers and fight the bad guys. And that's why we got this way." said Ruby.
"The bad guys?" asked Shorty.
"Yes, it turns out there are evil humans who form groups called triads." explained Cera.
"And some time ago we faced the Equalists, who wanted to wipe out all benders, including us." said Chomper.
"And let's not forget Tarrlok and his bloodbending he attacked us all with. No, no, no." said Ducky remembering when they discovered the evil of the waterbender councilman and he took them down with his bloodbending.
"Thank you, me almost put it out of me memory." said Petrie with a frown as he didn't like that experience.
Bron couldn't help but be concerned to hear that there were unimaginable dangers in that world.
"What do you think, dad?" asked Littlefoot.
"Well, I'm very surprised." began Bron before giving her son a small smile. "But I see now I understand what your grandparents were saying. You're much more special now than you were before."
"Thanks. Hey, dad, shall we go to the meadow and play a little?" asked Littlefoot wanting to spend time with his dad.
"Sure. Shorty, you don't mind hanging out with them, do you?" asked Bron.
"Not at all. You deserve to hang out with Littlefoot all the time." said Shorty with a smile.
Bron gave him a nod before father and son left, leaving the others behind.
"All right. I want you to tell me as much as you can about that world." said Shorty.
"Heh. Something told me that would be what you'd ask." said Mako.
"And we'll be happy to tell you all about it." said Asami.
"I bet, as soon as you hear what's in there, you'll want to come over as soon as possible." said Bolin.
"I can't wait to hear about it." said Shorty before they all went in another direction.
As they walked along, Korra turned her gaze in the direction Littlefoot and his father went and smiled knowing that the two would enjoy some time together.
However, for some reason, she had a feeling that something bad was going to happen, but she let it go, considering it her imagination.
Unbeknownst to anyone, near the opening, along the path that Bron's herd took, was a feather that belonged to Wild Arm.
Suddenly, a paw with sharp claws landed hard near the feather and a predator's snout approached the feather before sniffing it a little.
After that, the predator's gaze shifted to the opening to the Great Valley and it let out a roar followed by two more.
Now that it was just the two of them, Littlefoot and Bron set about enjoying the time they had together, for it wasn't going to be long.
Littlefoot was running around for a while until an idea crossed his mind and he used firebending to propel himself and pick up the pace.
Littlefoot
It's nice to have a dad that you can be with.
Seeing that, Bron had to pick up his pace, but Littlefoot turned around and went underneath him, which Bron found funny and went about raising his paws so Littlefoot could go under them.
To share a part of each and every day.
Then, Littlefoot showed him his firebending by throwing small fireballs to cut the leaves of the trees and make them fall, but then, Bron decided to do his part by leaning on the tree and knocking it all the way down, making Littlefoot smile in happiness before diving into the leaves like a swimming pool.
Who you can talk and joke and play and eat a tree with.
Who wants to hear the things you have to say.
The two dove into a lake and Littlefoot used firebending to make the water bubble, turning it into a jacuzzi that they both enjoyed.
Who will lift you up when the water's too deep
Who'll stay by your side while you're falling asleep.
At one point, Littlefoot was looking up at the sky a little saddened as he remembered his mother not being with them, but Bron stood next to him and stroked his head, managing to cheer him up.
Who understands whenever you feel sad.
It's really, awfully nice.
To have a dad.
As Littlefoot walked, he imagined all his friends, humans and dinosaurs walking beside him, but then they were replaced by who was really walking beside him, his father.
Friends are important.
They're such a big part of you,
but I always thought a dad would be something special.
Littlefoot then used firebending to ascend to his father's head, from where he slid down to the tail like a toboggan.
Now I know it's true.
It's great to have a dad you can have fun with.
A dad who's got a neck that's extra long.
However, when he reached the end of the back, he ended up shooting off into the distance, which worried Bron, but Littlefoot was able to use firebending to steady himself and land on his feet.
It's good to have someone to be a son with.
Who's big and brave and wise
and kind and strong.
He'll laugh at the silly things you do
and when you're in trouble,
he'll pull you through.
When Bron reached him, the two were silent for a moment before bursting out laughing.
Even with the love I've always had.
This is something new.
I've found a dad.
My dad.
Littlefoot was now walking with his father, happy to be able to spend time with him.
He may have loved being with his friends and grandparents, but being with his father was something he didn't get to do often and now he made sure he enjoyed being with him as much as possible.
And since you came my way,
I'm, oh, so glad
and I'm proud to be your son.
'Cause you're my favorite one
and only
dad.
While father and son enjoyed their time together, the rest were busy telling Shorty all about the human world.
"Wow. It really is different from anything I've heard and seen." said Shorty.
"Well, of course it is. Republic City is a place like you've never dreamed of before. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky.
"And you fought against… What did you say they were called?" asked Shorty.
"Mecha Tanks. Think of a sharptooth, but made of a material harder than stone and with huge claws." said Chomper.
"But since the Equalists were defeated, the police are keeping them in custody, although, according to Beifong, they think they may come to need them in case of emergency." said Mako.
"Police?" asked Shorty.
"They are humans who are in charge of keeping order in the city and detain anyone who doesn't respect that order and harm everyone else, so their duty is important." said Ruby.
"And who is Beifong?" asked Shorty.
"She's the police chief and the toughest human I've ever met." said Cera.
"Hey, what about me?" asked Korra.
"You're tough too, Korra, but you have to admit she's even tougher, almost as tough as my dad." said Cera.
That comment made both Topps and Lin sneeze at the same time.
"On that I can't deny it." commented Bolin.
"And that thing about satomobiles? What do they really need them for when they have their own legs?" asked Shorty.
"It's true that we can go anywhere on our own, but mankind has evolved over the years and over time, has been looking for comfort in certain things." said Asami.
"It true. For example, me fly and you not, but human flying machines allow everyone fly." said Petrie.
"And satomobiles allow us to get from one place to another much faster than we could do walking or running." said Bolin.
"Mmm. I hadn't thought of it that way. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing your world" said Shorty.
"Maybe, if Bron lets us, we could take you." said Korra.
"You could even become a bender. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky.
"Do you really think that's possible?" asked Shorty.
"Well, actually, there's a 50% chance of it happening, but you never know what might happen." said Mako.
"Well, in my opinion, if I were to become a bender, I'd rather be an earthbender." began Shorty before using his tail to swipe at a small rock, launching it far away. "That way I could throw much larger rocks and with greater ease."
"Ha. This one really gets it." said Cera.
"Well, I'll go get Littlefoot and Bron." said Korra getting up.
"Are you going to tell her about taking Shorty to the other world or because you want to see them?" asked Asami with a small smile.
"A little of both. See you later." said Korra before walking away.
Elsewhere, Littlefoot was giving Bron a demonstration of his firebending.
He launched a pair of fireballs into the air that, upon impact with each other, generated an explosion similar to fireworks.
Next, he launched a pair of waves that traveled upward in an X-shape and finally, he let out a roar into the sky along with a flare, something that surprised Bron a bit.
"What do you think, dad? Wasn't that amazing?" asked Littlefoot with a grin.
"I'll give you that. You've got talent." said Bron.
"It's thanks to Korra. She taught me everything I know about my powers." said Littlefoot.
Bron was happy for the relationship his son and the Avatar had, but he couldn't get out of his head the fact that he had faced very dangerous situations in a world where he nor his grandparents would be.
If he wanted to protect his son, he had to do something, even though he knew it would be very hard.
"Hey, Littlefoot, do you like spending time with me?" asked Bron.
"Well, of course I do." said Littlefoot with a smile.
"In that case, wouldn't you like to come with me?" asked Bron.
"You know I would like to, but I can't leave my friends behind, especially Korra and the others." said Littlefoot.
"But that world seems dangerous. If something were to happen to you, we wouldn't be your grandparents or me there to protect you." said Bron.
"I understand, dad, but I…" began Littlefoot trying to explain.
"Littlefoot, you're my son. The last thing I have left of your mother and I couldn't bear to lose you. If I'm saying it, it's because it's the best thing for you." said Bron.
"But my friends…" began Littlefoot starting to sadden.
"They will be here when we get back, but until then, I would like you to come with me and Shorty." said Bron.
Littlefoot saw that there seemed to be no way to convince him otherwise.
True, on one hand he would like to go with his father, since he doesn't see him much, but on the other hand, he also didn't want to leave his friends, especially his human friends, since their mystic stone would take them to the Great Valley and nowhere else.
Not to mention that the mystic stone of his world would remain in the Great Valley and surely his friends would be going to the human world at any moment and who knows what could happen given the time difference between worlds and that, upon returning, time wasn't passing at all.
Which meant that there was a chance that, during a visit to the human world, something on the same level as the Equalists or more might happen and he wouldn't be there to help them and even if he did return to the Great Valley, it would be too late.
He was, for a moment, about to give up when…
"Do you mind if I say something?"
The two turned their heads to the side to see Korra arriving on the scene.
"Korra. how long have you been here?" asked Littlefoot.
"Since you finished your fire show." began Korra before looking at Bron for a few seconds before returning her gaze to the little longneck. "Littlefoot, would you mind leaving your dad and I alone?"
Littlefoot understood that she had heard the whole conversation and wanted to tell her side.
He was hopeful that his older sister would be able to convince his father, so he gave a nod before walking away, leaving the Avatar and the grown-up longneck alone.
"Korra, if what you want to do is convince me otherwise, I…" began Bron.
"Of course I want to convince you. You can't make that kind of decision on your own." said Korra.
"I'm doing it to protect my son." said Bron with a frown.
"I understand, but Littlefoot is like my little brother and I know that even though you think you are doing what's best for him, it's not really. You see, time ago I used to live in a complex far away from everything, the people in charge of that place wouldn't let me go any further for for the same reason you want Littlefoot to go with you, to protect me. However, I was always looking to go beyond that whole place and in the end, I escaped. And honestly, it was the best decision of my life, because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met Littlefoot and the others. In fact, I don't know what would have become of them if it wasn't for me." said Korra with a smile as she recalled the day when, not only did she arrive in city, but she met the kids, who became very important friends to her and part of her family.
Bron started to think about what Korra said.
He began to understand that, if he made Littlefoot travel with him even if he didn't want to, it would only make him very, very sad, not to mention that he might escape on his own to return, as Korra had told her.
Besides, the reason he wanted to take Littlefoot with him was because he had no one in the other world to protect him, but after hearing Korra talk about him taking care of his son and his friends made him think otherwise.
All that made him realize that he might be wrong.
In another part of the Great Valley, Wild Arms could be seen walking leisurely and enjoying the sunny day.
"Ah, what a peaceful place. No earthshakes, no fire mountains and best of all, no sharpteeth wanting to eat me." said Wild Arms.
Suddenly, a shadow loomed over him from behind him, for it was the cause of three feathered sharpteeth.
(AN: The sharpteeth of the 14th film).
"Huh? That's weird, but there's no sky puffies." said Wild Arms looking up at the sky.
One of the feathered sharpteeth let out a slight roar, alarming Wild Arms, who stretched his arm back until it touched one of the legs of one of the feathered sharpteeth.
"Uh oh." said Wild Arms before patting some more until, because the feathered sharptooth he was touching ducked its head, he ended up touching its snout. "Uh oh." said Wild Arms until he brought his hand towards his fangs, grabbing one in the process. "Uh oh." said Wild Arms who, even though he wasn't looking back, knew exactly what was going on.
Wild Arms began humming innocently as he slowly walked forward with his hands behind his back, trying to pretend nothing was happening.
That's when the feathered sharptooth that had been playing let out a roar, causing Wild Arms to scream at full volume and run away while waving his arms like a madman.
(AN: For those of you educated, with childhoods and good memories, I hope you understand the reference).
Soon after, the feathered sharpteeth let out a roar before splitting off to search for prey to feed on.
Elsewhere, the rest of Team Avatar Dinosaur along with Shorty were walking through the valley to meet Littlefoot and Korra.
As they walked, they were telling Shorty about one of the best sports in the human world.
"Okay. If I really go to the human world, I want you to show me a match of that pro-bending thing you say. Sounds like a great game." said Shorty.
"Boy yes it is. I can't wait until dinosaurs are allowed to play a match." said Cera.
"That would take a lot of changing things and the process isn't quick." said Mako.
"But not impossible. I'm already seeing it. The Fire Ferrets, a team composed of humans and dinosaurs." said Bolin.
"Uh. I like that idea. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky.
At that moment, they all heard a loud scream.
"It sound like Wild Arms." said Petrie.
They all looked to the side to find that it was Wild Arms, who was still running, screaming and waving his arms like a madman.
"Yes, it's Wild Arms." said Chomper.
Wild Arms ran towards them and quickly stopped, sliding a little to stand in front of them.
The next instant, he was babbling nonsense words while waving his arms like a madman.
"Could you talk like someone normal? Because you're not talking normal so we cannot understand you." said Ruby.
Wild Arms kept babbling to the point where he was shouting them and then, Asami slapped him in the face which immediately shut him up.
"Are you feeling better now?" asked Asami.
"A little. Thanks for that" said Wild Arms rubbing the sore part.
"Can you tell what was all that screaming about?" asked Cera.
"Mmm. Let me remember. Ah, yes. SHARPTEETH!" shouted Wild Arms in total panic.
"What?" they all asked at the same time.
"Are you sure they were sharpteeth?" asked Mako.
"Yes and they weren't just any sharpteeth, they were feathered sharpteeth." said Wild Arms.
"Feathered sharpteeth?" asked Chomper in surprise.
"But me think they just find themselves in their territory." said Petrie remembering that he and his friends had to pass through those lands to get to where Littlefoot's father was.
"They most likely followed the trail of our herd when we went through there to get to the valley." said Shorty.
"If there are sharpteeth here, we have to stop them." said Bolin.
"Alright. We'll split into two groups. We'll look for those sharpteeth and drive them out of the valley." said Mako.
"What about Korra and Littlefoot?" asked Ducky.
"Yeah, they're not here, so they don't know about the sharpteeth, and they could get into trouble by not knowing that unless they find them first." said Ruby.
"They'll probably end up knowing about it somehow and do the same thing we did." said Asami.
"Wild Arms, you go warn the rest of the grown-ups and tell them what you saw." said Mako.
"If it keeps me out of harm's way, fine by me." said Wild Arms.
Wasting no time, they all went in various directions to deal with the threat.
Elsewhere, Littlefoot was walking alone, thinking about the conversation he had with his father.
"Dad doesn't understand anything. So what if there are dangers in that world? I'm not a child anymore. I can deal with it. True, it feels bad not seeing him, but I'd feel worse not seeing my friends." began Littlefoot before sighing. "I hope Korra can convince him."
It was then that he felt heavy footsteps.
"Dad?" asked Littlefoot in confusion.
However, the one responsible for those heavy footsteps wasn't who he imagined, but one of the feathered sharpteeth that let out a roar at him.
Littlefoot screamed at this before running off, with the feathered sharptooth in pursuit.
In the area where Korra and Bron were, they could both hear the sharptooth's roar from a distance, as well as a certain cry of terror, something that alarmed them.
"Littlefoot!" they both exclaimed before going to rescue their son/little brother.
A group consisting of Mako, Ducky, Spike, Petrie and Asami was running in search of one of the feathered sharpteeth.
"Petrie, fly high and locate the sharptooth." said Asami.
"Okay." said Petrie before ascending high into the air.
He looked to several sides before spotting something and quickly returning to the others.
"Me see sharptooth. It head for swimming hole." said Petrie.
"Oh, no. There's the hatchlings." said Ducky in horror.
"Then we must stop them before it hurts anyone. Let's go." said Mako before everyone picked up the pace.
In the swimming hole, Ducky and Spike' mother was keeping an eye on the newborn hatchlings who were busy playing both on land and in the water.
"Don't wander too far away, kids!" said Ducky and Spike' mother.
However, one of the hatchlings didn't heed the advice and wandered a bit away from the others, but stopped immediately when a huge paw stepped in front of it.
This made everyone realize that the paw belonged to a feathered sharptooth, who let out a roar that sent the hatchlings running in panic to get behind their mother.
Before the sharptooth could take another step, a wave of wind blew past it, forcing it to stop.
Soon after, the group stood across the water from the feathered sharptooth.
"You not go near hatchlings." said Petrie, receiving a roar from the sharptooth.
Ducky turned her head toward her new little brothers and sisters.
"Stay here, kids. Watch as your big siblings and their friends fight the sharptooth." Ducky said as Spike nodded.
Hearing that, the hatchlings stopped being afraid and stood and watched curiously as things were going to unfold.
Mako started throwing fireballs that the sharptooth quickly dodged.
It went on like this for a while until it decided to try something and used its tail to throw several rocks.
Some of those rocks managed to hit the fireballs, but the others went straight towards the hatchlings.
Spike acted quickly using earthbending to throw his own rocks that neutralized those launched by the sharptooth.
Petrie was the next to attack, launching bursts of air as bullets that hit the sharptooth, who let out a roar of rage as it endured the bullets.
Asami took advantage of that to throw one of her electrified sticks at it, getting the tip to touch it, giving it a brief shock in the process.
After that, Asami used the magnet on her electrified glove to retrieve her weapon.
Despite all that, the sharptooth moved to the side quickly to avoid the rest of the air bullets before letting out a roar and charging towards them.
Ducky reacted to this by using waterbending to shoot a powerful jet of water out of the river, which managed to stop the sharptooth, drenching it for a moment.
Seeing that, an idea immediately flashed through Asami's mind as she shifted her gaze from the briefly wet sharptooth to her electrified sticks.
"Ducky, take him to the water." said Asami.
"That's how it will be done. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky before using waterbending to make several tentacles of water emerge from the river with which she grabbed the sharptooth.
The feathered sharptooth tried to resist, but Ducky managed to muster enough strength to pull it back into the river.
Once she achieved her goal, she released the sharptooth, who was about to attack them, but then, Asami activated her electrified sticks and introduced them into the water, making the electricity run through the entire river until it reached the sharptooth, giving it a huge electric shock that made it roar in pain.
Soon after, Asami pulled out her sticks, causing the electricity to stop flowing.
The sharptooth, freed from the shock, looked at the group, who glared defiantly at him.
"Get out of here right now, you evil sharptooth." said Ducky with a scowl.
"Or you'll suffer something like before." said Asami activating her electrified sticks.
That was enough to convince the feathered sharptooth, who didn't hesitate to quickly flee the scene.
"Yes! We did it!" exclaimed Petrie before high-fiving Spike, although due to the spiketail's thrust, Petrie fell to the ground.
"That was a good idea, Asami." said Mako.
"Well, I couldn't have done it without Ducky." said Asami.
"We make a good team. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky.
Suddenly, the hatchlings came out from behind their mother and ran to Ducky, whom they surrounded as they praised.
"Looks like you've become their heroine!" said Ducky and Spike' mother.
The others couldn't help but laugh lightly at that.
"We can't stay here. We must make sure it leaves the valley." said Mako.
"And there are still more of those sharpteeth around." said Asami.
"Then we not waste time." said Petrie.
"Let's get going." said Ducky before she and the others quickly left, following the trail of the feathered sharptooth that had fled from them.
The other group consisting of Bolin, Cera, Chomper, Ruby and Shorty were running through another part of the valley in search of some feathered sharptooth, but so far, they found nothing, so they had to stop.
"It's going to be tricky looking for a sharptooth in such a big valley." said Shorty.
"I've got it. Chomper, try to locate the feathered sharptooth with your sniffer." said Bolin.
"Good." began Chomper before sniffing the air a bit. "I've located it. It's gone that way." said Chomper pointing in a direction.
Wasting no time, the group ran in the direction pointed.
Soon after, they reached the top of a hill from where they spotted the feathered sharptooth.
"There it is. I see it right there." said Ruby.
"Okay. So now what are we supposed to do?" asked Cera.
They all set about coming up with a plan to defeat the sharptooth.
Meanwhile, Shorty saw that around him there were many stones and the next moment, an idea formed in his mind.
"I have an idea and I'll need your powers to make it work." said Shorty.
"Take it for granted." said Bolin with a smile.
"Good. First we need something to stop him and get his attention." said Shorty.
"Leave it to me." began Chomper before using firebending to cause a wall of fire to form in front of the sharptooth, stopping it in the process. "Yoo-hoo!" exclaimed Chomper, catching the feathered sharptooth's attention. "Hey, big guy. We're here. Come on over if you've got the nerve."
The sharptooth let out a roar at the challenge and bounded up the hill to catch up with them.
"Ruby, try to slow it down with your water power." said Shorty.
"Got it." said Ruby before using her waterbending to spill a certain amount across the ground and then turned it into ice.
When the sharptooth reached the frozen part, it had trouble following because of the slippery ground.
"Okay, that's done. What's the next step?" asked Bolin.
"One word. Stones." said Shorty with a smile.
"I understand what you mean and I like it." said Cera with a smile.
Bolin and Cera used earthbending to create large round stones that they rolled down the hill toward the feathered sharptooth, who, realizing this, moved back and forth quickly to avoid the rolling stones.
When the time was right, Shorty used his tail to throw a stone that hit the sharptooth in the eye, causing him to roar in pain and anger as he stopped, which was a mistake, as a rolling stone ended up hitting it and sending it rolling down the hill.
By the time it got up, the sharptooth was a bit startled when it saw the group with several stones floating around it, as well as icicles of ice and flames in Chomper's claws.
"You have two choices. Either you get out of here or we'll come at you with everything." said Shorty with a scowl.
The feathered sharptooth didn't think twice and took off running.
"Ha. That's it. Run away, you coward." said Cera.
"Quickly, we have to follow him and make sure he leaves the valley, and the sooner the better." said Ruby.
"She's right." said Chomper.
"In that case, let's go." said Bolin before they all ran off to chase the feathered sharptooth.
Elsewhere, Littlefoot was still running away from the third feathered sharptooth.
As he fled, he was launching fireballs from his tail, but the sharptooth was able to dodge the incoming balls.
Thinking otherwise, Littlefoot used firebending to expel fire from his paws to propel himself forward, getting far enough away from the sharptooth.
When he got far enough away, he stopped and turned to look at the sharptooth.
He tried to stop it by creating a wall of fire, which he succeeded in doing.
Littlefoot was about to run away quickly, but that feathered sharptooth turned out to be smarter than the others, as he used his feet to throw dirt at the wall of fire, extinguishing it in the process, much to the surprise and horror of the longneck.
Littlefoot began to launch waves of fire that forced the sharptooth to move quickly to avoid them.
Then, the feathered sharptooth grabbed a log with its teeth and threw it towards the longneck, which reacted quickly and launched a wave of fire that split the log in half.
However, that turned out to be a distraction, as the sharptooth took advantage of that to approach him and try to crush him with its tail, but Littlefoot dodged it and got under the sharptooth, from where he fired a couple of fireballs that hit the sharptooth, knocking it back.
Unfortunately, the sharptooth immediately recovered and tried to devour Littlefoot, but he jumped in time to avoid the bite, but ended up tripping in the process.
Littlefoot was horrified when he saw the sharptooth approach him, ready to devour him, but then, a tail hit him in the face and knocked him back quite a ways.
Littlefoot was surprised to see that the one who rescued them was his father.
"Pick on someone your own size, you coward!" said Bron, getting a roar from the feathered sharptooth.
"Dad!" said Littlefoot surprised to see his father.
"Littlefoot!"
Looking to the side, he saw Korra run over to him and kneel beside him.
"Are you all right? You didn't hurt yourself, did you?" asked Korra with slight concern.
"No, I'm fine." began Littlefoot getting up before turning his attention to the fight between his father and the feathered sharptooth, as did Korra.
Bron kept an eye out for any movement from the sharptooth as the two looked at each other and moved back and forth without looking away.
The sharptooth finally attacked by lashing out, but Bron turned his head away before lashing out with his own tail, hitting the sharptooth, who let out a roar of rage before lunging at him.
Bron did the same and due to his long neck, reached him first and then rammed him, knocking him down in the process, but the feathered sharptooth took advantage of its position to attack him with the claws of his paws, leaving a scar on one of his paws, causing him to groan in pain, which allowed the sharptooth to get up and hit him with its head, knocking him down in the process.
"Dad!" exclaimed Littlefoot worried for his father.
The feathered sharptooth was about to attack, but then, a water whip whipped him in the face with such force that it knocked him back.
"Bron, get out of the way!"
Bron turned his head to see Korra charging towards them and even though he didn't understand what she intended to do, he heeded his warning and quickly stood up to move out of the way, allowing the Avatar to stand in front of the feathered sharptooth.
"This is for scaring Littlefoot!" said Korra before releasing a fireball that struck the sharptooth, making it roar in pain as it recoiled. "This is for hurting Bron!" said Korra before releasing a wave of cutting wind that left a scar on the sharptooth's chest. "And this is for everything else!" said Korra before causing a pillar to quickly erupt from the ground, right under the sharptooth's chin, hitting it with an uppercut so powerful that it sent the sharptooth tumbling backwards to the ground
By the time the sharptooth raised its head, it saw Korra giving him a withering look.
"Now get out of my sight before I get serious!" said Korra.
The feathered sharptooth was horrified at that and immediately got up to run away.
Now that it was out of danger, Korra focused on a very important matter, so she turned and ran over to where Bron was sitting on the ground with Littlefoot at his side.
"Are you okay, dad?" asked Littlefoot.
"Don't worry. It's not the first wound I've received, nor the most painful." said Bron.
"Wait a little while, Bron. I'll heal you right away." said Korra before using waterbending to cover the scar with a drop of water that began to glow as she made it shake like jelly.
Bron hissed a little, but soon after he felt better and when Korra finished the healing process, he was surprised to see that there was no longer a scar of any kind.
"Wow. I didn't know you could do that." said Bron.
"Being the Avatar doesn't mean I always have to fight." said Korra with a smile.
"Dad, I'm sorry. If I had been more careful…" began Littlefoot.
"Hey, it's okay. None of us knew this could happen. And if it happened again, I would do the same thing without hesitation, because the duty of a father is to protect his children." began Bron patting his son on the head. "And speaking of children. I could see how you fought that sharptooth. I'm really proud of you and I know your mom would be too." said Bron, making Littlefoot smile with great joy.
"I'll leave you here if you want. I'll go check to make sure that sharptooth has left the valley." said Korra.
"No need." began Bron as he quietly stood up. "Thanks to your healing trick, I feel better. And also to check that there is no more danger in the Great Valley."
"Where you go, I'll go with you." said Littlefoot, making the Avatar smile.
"All right. If we hurry, we'll catch up." said Korra before the three of them set off.
The three groups chased the feathered sharpteeth to the opening in the wall where they entered, which was where they all gathered.
"I didn't know there were more of them." said Korra surprised to see more of them.
"Yeah, we were lucky to find out about them in time." said Mako.
"That way, we were able to catch them…" began Chomper.
"And give them the biggest beating of their lives." said Shorty.
"Now I just hope they don't come back into the valley if we leave this opening open." said Asami.
"Ha. After what we've done to them? I doubt very much they'll want to set foot here." Cera said.
"And if they do, we'll show them what's good. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky.
"Littlefoot." began Bron getting his son's attention. "I've been thinking about what we talked about a little while ago."
"Dad, I know you want to protect me, but I would feel very sad if I were away from my friends." said Littlefoot.
"I know and that's why, you can still be here with your grandparents and friends." said Bron, to his son's surprise.
"Really? Will I be able to go to the human world too?" asked Littlefoot.
"Of course. Before, I didn't want you to go because I wasn't there to protect you, but now I feel safer knowing that you have someone there who can do it for me." began Bron before looking at Korra. "You will protect him, won't you?"
"I will, Bron. I promise." said Korra with a smile, glad that she had convinced the longneck adult.
"Now, since you're not coming with me, what do you say we go enjoy some more time together?" asked Bron.
"I'd love to." said Littlefoot before father and son took off, leaving the others behind.
"Uh… What just happened?" asked Bolin in confusion.
"It's a long story." said Korra with a smile.
"Whoops. We forget ask Bron." said Petrie realizing this.
"Ask what?" asked Korra with an arched eyebrow.
"Don't you remember? We talked about taking Shorty to the human world and you were going to ask Bron about it, but with the whole sharpteeth thing you seem to forgot all about asking him, as well us." said Ruby.
"Oh, that's right. That's okay, we have plenty of time for that. For now, let's let father and son enjoy themselves a bit. I hope you don't mind, Shorty." said Korra.
"Bah. I don't mind. I'm a patient longneck. However, do you think you could show me a pro-bending match?" asked Shorty.
"You got it, buddy. You got it." said Cera with a smile.
And so, the group went off to enjoy their own time together while father and son enjoyed their own.
