Update time!

I managed to get it on time too!

There won't be any updates next week tho, I will be a little too busy for that.

Also, this story has recently passed 100 000 views! I'm so happy because of that.

Anyways, let's get to the chapter, shall we?

Topic: Any interesting places in Vale?

Hey there everyone, the next tournament's happening in Vale, right? I'll try to attend it but I don't want to feel like I wasted my entire trip to a different kingdom on a single tournament.
Are there any decent places to visit while I'm in the city? I really want to know about them.

There's some expensive cafes near the docks if that's what you're after.

During the Vytal festival there will be a lot of different stalls and games set up all over the city.
You will just have to wait a bit after the ATG tournament ends.

Isn't it a Huntsmen school?
I'm not a Huntsman in training.

Nah, anyone can visit it for the different tours.
I'm pretty sure that's the case with every huntsman academy actually.

It's not, the Atlas Academy is rather stingy with allowing tours unless you're a student of one of the prep school and are scouting it.
Apparently, there is quite a lot of sensitive information that can be found there.

It's just another thing that Vale does better than Atlas, then.

While we are on the topic of places in Vale, does anyone know good relatively cheep places you can spend the night in the city of Vale?
I would appreciate any information about it.

Ruby was a terrible leader.

She really was.

All the assurances and support her teammates were giving her weren't going to change her opinion about that any time soon.

If she were a good team leader, she wouldn't be currently rushing through the city in search of one of her teammates. Such a situation wouldn't have happened in the first place if she had done her job correctly.

Ruby clicked her tongue in annoyance as she passed through another street without finding her team member.

Why did she have to confront Blake the way she did?

There wouldn't have been an issue if she had dealt with her teammate's issues privately.

They would have been back at Beacon and relaxing with their entire team right now.

It would have been perfect.

Instead, she had to confront potentially the most mentally unstable member of her team with all their remaining teammates as support. Apparently, she was too incompetent to do it on her own.

A groan escaped her.

Why couldn't she have been just a tiny bit more confident in herself and done her job on her own?!

It was no wonder that Blake decided to run away when she was confronted like that. Ruby most likely wouldn't have fared any better if she were faced with her entire team facing off against her like that, either.

A situation like that would have undoubtedly made her feel like her friends were her enemies.

Still, she would have probably at least given a call that she was alright if she was staying the night in Vale. There was no telling how dangerous the city could be at night, after all. Blake, on the other hand, didn't even bother to send them a message.

Ruby huffed tiredly as she stopped for a moment after finishing looking through another street.

Wasn't she supposed to be the immature one here!?

That really should have been the case, shouldn't it? She was the one who came to Beacon two years early, and all her teammates, as well as classmates, were both older and more experienced than her.

If anything, she should have been the one with an excuse to disappear into the city like that.

Her teammates were far too mature to play hide and seek in the capital city of the kingdom. It was especially grating because she was still actively worried about her team member who really shouldn't have disappeared!

Currently, she was genuinely starting to get suspicious that her teammate was actively trying to hide from her.

There was no way that she had searched through less than a quarter of the city already.

A grumble escaped her.

The moment she found where Blake was hiding, she was going to give her the biggest talking-to that girl had ever received.

It would certainly be deserved.

"U-Uhm, is everything alright?" Someone suddenly called out to her.

She snapped her head towards the voice.

There she saw a young woman with brown hair and deer antlers coming out of her head. The woman was looking at her a little shakily, and she clearly had been surprised by her reaction to the voice.

Despite the apprehension, however, it was clear that the girl was genuinely concerned about her.

Ruby looked at the deer faunus for a second before letting out a sigh.

She really must have looked terrible if strangers were concerned about her.

"Ye-" Ruby hesitated for a moment. "Actually, I'm not alright. I'm looking for a friend of mine; she's a black-haired faunus who hides her ears with a ribbon. Her name's Blake Belladonna, if that's helpful."

The deer faunus tilted her head slightly to the side.

"Like the princess?"

Ruby blinked a couple of times at the woman.

"Princess?" She asked.

The young woman nodded.

"Y-Yeah, the daughter of Kali and Ghira Belladonna?" The deer faunus asked. "They are the current leaders of Menagerie. You know, after they resigned from their positions as White Fang leaders."

In response, Ruby opened her mouth for a moment, but no answer came out of her.

Wow, she really was ignorant about those types of things, wasn't she?

After this whole issue was solved, she would really have to educate herself on those matters. She wondered if Weiss would be willing to spend some time to teach her; she seemed to have the whole leading thing figured out already.

Ruby quickly shook her head.

There would be time to worry about it later; she still had a team member to find.

"Yeah, that's her." She said to the deer woman. "She's my teammate at Beacon, and I'm currently looking for her. She ran to the city last night—after we had a fight—and she still hasn't returned nor given a sign she's alright. I'm worried for her."

The faunus woman nodded her head slowly.

"Alright, I understand." The woman said. "I can try to help you if you like. What was the fight about? It might be easier to look for her if we know the reason she's in the city in the first place."

A wide smile appeared on Ruby's face.

The fact that the faunus woman was willing to offer her help was great in her opinion. The more people helped her, the more likely it was that she would be able to find her missing teammate.

It would save her a lot of time.

"The fight was about her treatment of our other friend, Weiss Schnee." Ruby said. "I know that the Schnee family had done some questionable things for Dust, but Weiss is really kind, and Blake was treating her terribly. I had to do something about it."

The faunus woman let out a hum in understanding.

"You confronted her about it and ended up scaring her away, didn't you?" The woman asked.

Ruby nodded her head awkwardly.

In essence, it was precisely what had happened.

"Okay, I might have an idea on where she went." The deer faunus said. "We will need to look for any White Fang rallies first, though. It might be a bit dangerous, but I'm sure you'll handle this, Miss Huntress in training."

Ruby looked at the woman owlishly.

"W-Why?" She asked.

The deer woman smiled.

"It's because she's looking for validation of her views." The woman explained. "She saw that all the people she's working with go against her views, and now she's looking for things that will support those views instead. Trust me, I've been in a similar situation before."

Ruby looked at the woman in surprise.

The deer faunus looked so kind, she couldn't imagine her reaching out to terrorist organisations like White Fang.

"R-Really?" She asked, and upon receiving an immediate nod from the woman, expanded on her question. "What changed? You don't look like someone who would go to White Fang rallies like these."

The woman chuckled a little.

"I really don't look like that, do I?" The woman asked rhetorically before shaking her head. "I contemplated it a lot, though. The thing that stopped me from joining—and I know it may sound cheesy—were my friends."

Ruby looked at the woman with a slight sparkle in her eyes.

"D-Did they stop you from becoming a terrorist through the power of friendship?" She asked.

The woman snorted.

"Of course not; it would be stupid." The deer faunus said. "I merely met them and realised that the people who I despised in my mind weren't really all that different from my friends. By that I mean that they were humans, of course. You would be surprised how difficult it is to hate a group of people when you personally know a couple of members of such a group."

Ruby nodded her head.

"Y-Yeah, that makes much more sense." She admitted.

The woman smiled.

"Anyways," The deer woman straightened up and turned around. "Let's go look for your friend now, shall we?"

Ruby nodded her head with a subtle grin on her face.

"Yeah, let's do this!" She exclaimed.

Although she might not have gotten any closer to Blake through that conversation, she now knew where to look for her, at the very least. She was sure that she would be able to find her!

It was only a matter of time.

(...)

The streets of Vale were surprisingly elegant.

They were filled with multiple differently styled buildings, warehouses, and landmarks. Yet, despite those diverse styles, the city somehow managed to make it look somewhat appealing, especially when one wasn't rushing through it.

In all honesty, Weiss probably preferred the way this place looked over her own home city.

Sure, Vale might not have been as grandiose as the floating city of Atlas, but it still had its own unique charm.

If the situation wasn't as pressing, she wouldn't have minded forgoing a day or two for a simple exploration of the place. It certainly would have been quite an entertaining journey, in her opinion.

A thought entered her mind as she slowly turned towards one of the alleys.

She might actually explore this city a little, despite the perilous situation anyway.

It's not like she had any idea where to look for the missing member of Team RVRB, after all.

As far as she was aware, that girl could have been hiding anywhere. There was no way anybody would fault her if she failed to find her; furthermore, she wasn't even sure that girl would have liked to be found by her.

What was the point of trying to find someone if finding them would only result in another fight?

A sigh escaped her.

Unfortunately, she couldn't allow herself to think like that.

Whether she liked it or not, that girl was missing and could have been actively in danger at the moment. She couldn't allow her own convenience to endanger the life of someone else.

She would have still preferred to know where to look, though.

"Excuse me, are you Weiss Schnee?" Someone asked from behind her. "I've heard that you were studying at Beacon, but I really didn't think that I would be able to meet you today like that."

Weiss grimaced.

Great, of all the times for one of her fans to recognise her, it had to be right now. Normally, she wouldn't have minded too much, but she was currently occupied with something more important.

Couldn't that man see that she was clearly busy?

She huffed.

Alright, she needed to deal with that fan as quickly as she could.

It wouldn't do her well to waste more time standing in place when she already wasn't exactly rushing to search through the city.

With a fake cheery smile, she quickly turned around to face her fan.

As she finally saw the person who talked to her, she couldn't help but take a step back in surprise.

The person in front of her was a somewhat muscular man with barely noticeable faunus features, which were his claws. Although the man clearly had some experience in combat based on his musculature alone, he looked almost docile as he looked at her.

That was weird; she didn't know she had that many faunus fans.

Weiss immediately became tense.

There was also another possibility, of course.

The man in front of her could always be a White Fang member.

She slowly moved her hand closer to her weapon.

The man raised his arms in a non-threatening manner.

"Hey, I'm not here to fight." The man said quickly. "I know that I look somewhat threatening, but I only want to talk. My name's Tukson, and I might be able to help you if you're doing what I think you're doing."

Weiss narrowed her eyes at the man.

While she knew she couldn't fully relax just yet, she decided to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

"What do you think I'm doing, then?" She asked tentatively.

A slight smile appeared on Tukson's face.

"I think you're looking for a certain black-haired girl with a tendency to run away from problems." The man said before narrowing his eyes somewhat threateningly. "I only want to know whether your intentions towards her are honest or not."

Weiss shifted a little.

Oh, so it was that type of thing.

"I'm looking for a teammate of my friend because they had a fight." She said. "When I find her, I'll either inform this friend of her location or bring the girl to them. There's nothing more to it."

Tukson looked at her for a moment, trying to find any falsehood in her words.

After a moment, the man nodded his head.

"I guess there's a reason why White Fang couldn't really find any dirt on you." Tukson said. "Okay, I know where Blake is—or at least where she most likely went. Come with me and I'll lead you to her."

The man turned around and started walking.

Weiss looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"Why should I trust you to actually do what you said?" She asked.

Tukson paused in his steps.

"Yeah, why should you?" Tukson asked without even turning around. "You have absolutely no idea who I am or why I want to help you. Still, I'm probably your best chance at actually finding Blake, aren't I? Don't you think that this is enough to put a little trust in me despite everything? In the worst-case scenario, you can most likely beat me up in any type of fight, anyway."

Weiss hesitated for a moment as the man continued walking.

There really wasn't any other good alternative to finding Blake, was there?

With a quiet sigh she carefully began to follow the faunus.

They needed to find Blake sooner rather than later, and she would rather not waste any more time than necessary. The man might turn out to be a liar, but she supposed she could allow herself to put some trust in him.

Besides, she was a huntress in training; she could handle herself in the worst-case scenario.

(...)

White Fang rallies weren't exactly a rare thing.

Any organisation working primarily through the effort of its members had to do its utmost to ensure it would get as many new members as possible. It just so happened that organising rallies was the simplest way to recruit those members for a terrorist organisation like White Fang.

On top of that, any rally organised by a terrorist group had to be relatively easy to find as well.

In the end, the main purpose of a rally was to recruit more people to the cause, and it would hardly be able to accomplish that if nobody knew where those rallies took place, would it?

That was why Blake didn't have an issue with finding a decent gathering of White Fang members.

Of course, once she found the location of the next White Fang gathering, she still had to wait the entire night for it to happen. Apparently the leading members of her old organisation didn't like holding rallies in the middle of the night anymore.

Blake sighed a little as she subtly made her way into the seemingly empty warehouse.

Although she wasn't a member of the group anymore, she still had some opinions on how the organisation should be run.

The main rallies in cities as big as Vale shouldn't happen during easily accessible hours, in her opinion. Such a timetable not only made it easier for the rallies to be stopped by the police, but it also incentivised less dedicated members to try joining the White Fang.

While it did allow more people to become potential recruits, in a place with a population as big as Vale, it really wasn't necessary.

If she had still been a member, she would have heavily protested such a decision.

Blake paused for a moment before rapidly shaking her head.

No, she couldn't think like that anymore.

She wasn't with the White Fang anymore, and she quit for a good reason.

It wouldn't do her any good to think about how she would run the organisation anymore.

The life with the White Fang was already in her past, and she wasn't going to return to it anytime soon. She only needed to get some information from them right now, and she would be on her way.

She nodded her head with determination.

Yeah, she wasn't doing anything criminal right now.

It wasn't going to result in her becoming a terrorist once again.

She had changed.

"A-Ah, sorry." Someone apologised as they had accidentally bumped into her before murmuring to themselves. "There's far too little space here. I swear the bosses didn't think about the location for this rally at all."

Blake turned towards the person who bumped into her.

The moment she saw them, Blake instantly froze a little in a sudden panic. They were a White Fang member; while she didn't exactly know their name, she definitely recognised them from looks alone.

They were a burly man with a White Fang mask on his face and tense shoulders.

It was obvious that the guy didn't want to be here, and instead he was forced to attend as a guard by his superiors.

If she wasn't here undercover—and traitor to the cause, as well—she would have probably felt some pity for the guy and maybe even tried to cheer him up a little.

As the situation stood, however, she merely offered the man a fake smile and hoped that her disguise would hold true.

"Don't worry; nothing happened." She said in a quiet voice.

The burly man looked at her for a moment.

Blake became tense.

Was her disguise going to fail here?

While she didn't hide her faunus features right now—it would have been quite stupid if she did—she still needed a disguise to separate this identity of hers from her real self, who defected from the White Fang. In order to accomplish that, she styled her hair in a completely different manner than she usually did and put on some fake glasses to make her eyes a little bit harder to recognise.

She also wore the White Fang mask given to all the potential recruits. That was something that every person here had to do, however, in case they didn't want to join the cause despite attending the rally.

As the man was looking at her, she did her best to gather as little attention as possible.

Her goals and safety both depended solely on how well her disguise would work, after all.

In the end, the man merely grunted and turned somewhere else.

Blake immediately lost all of her tension.

Good news; her disguise worked well.

She quickly began to look through all the people in the warehouse.

Now she only needed to find a person who would be willing to share some info with her.

Thankfully, she knew that it wasn't going to be too difficult.

It was a rally; every White Fang member here had a job to convince as many people as possible to join the cause. One of the easiest ways to do that would be to answer the people's questions.

There would be a lot of lies and propaganda told through those answers, no doubt, but she trusted herself well enough to be able to find out what's a lie and what's not.

A confident smile formed on her face.

If she hadn't been good at recognising the truth, she would have probably believed the false image that Weiss Schnee was trying to present to the school.

No, she was better than that.

With a cautious step, she slowly made her way through the crowd of people towards a couple of White Fang members standing near the walls of the warehouse.

She didn't recognise those people—which meant that they most likely weren't going to recognise her either—and she was certain that they would be able to answer some of her questions properly.

The feeling of anticipation built up within her.

She couldn't wait to finally learn the truth about Weiss's evilness.

As she walked through the crowd, she heard a small commotion behind her, near the warehouse's entrance to be precise, but she opted to ignore it.

When rallies like these happened, it wasn't rare to see people act emotionally and start some fight among each other; usually those fights don't last long, though, and it only takes the rally organiser to start their speech in order for those people to stop.

A loud microphone sound echoed through the warehouse as the rally speaker began their speech.

Blake subtly nodded her head.

It looked like the organiser of this rally knew how to deal with this commotion, as well.

The start of the speech was also quite convenient for her.

She wasn't going to listen to it, of course; she had more important issues to deal with at the moment. The speech would take the attention away from her, however, which would make questioning the White Fang members so much easier.

With the crowd busy listening to the speech, she made her way to a group of White Fang members.

"Hey there, guys." She called out to them in a loud whisper. "I'm interested in joining the cause, but I've got a couple of questions about our enemies first. Would you be willing to answer them for me?"

All the people in the group—which was made of four different people—looked at one another.

They nodded at one another.

"Sure," One of the White Fang members said before pointing at one of the doors in the back. "Let's just get outside for that, okay? The speech is quite loud; it will be easier to talk there."

Blake nodded her head.

"Okay." She said.

White Fang members smiled at her before heading towards the door.

She followed them.

After they left the building, they walked a couple of steps away from the warehouse before stopping.

"Alright, this should be far enough from the rally." A White Fang member said, after looking around for a moment. "We should be able to deal with the traitor here without too many witnesses."

Blake immediately became tense.

"I'm sorry; what?" She asked.

The four White Fang members turned towards her.

Dozens more footsteps echoed from all around.

Blake wanted to curse.

It was a trap.

"Did you really think that styling your hair a little differently and putting on some glasses would be enough to fool us, traitor?" A White Fang member asked with a cruel smile on his face. "Our lieutenant recognised you the moment he bumped into you. I might not have any idea why you tried to infiltrate our rally, but it's a perfect occasion to deal with a cause traitor, don't you think?"

Blake gritted her teeth.

Without wasting any time, she instantly reached for her weapon.

It looked like this situation wasn't going to resolve itself without a fight.

She quickly counted how many enemies surrounded her.

To her dismay she found that she was heavily outnumbered.

There were dozens of them; almost a hundred.

It was certainly beyond her capabilities to deal with.

Sure, she could defeat each and every opponent here in a matter of seconds. With a number disadvantage so huge, however, she would honestly be surprised if she even got the chance to fight at all.

That was all without mentioning that some of the enemies would be a challenge for her to deal with on her own, like the lieutenant who arrived here as well, for example.

She tightened her fists as she tried to put herself in the best position possible.

How was she supposed to get out of this situation now?

A White Fang member smirked at her.

"Get her, now!"

The small army of terrorists rushed at her.

"No! Stop!" A familiar voice suddenly resounded through the battlefield.

The next moment a flurry of petals suddenly rushed through the crowd of enemies before stopping right next to her.

Blake widened her eyes.

"R-Ruby?" She asked.

Her team leader smiled at her.

"Don't worry, Blake; I'm here!" The younger girl exclaimed before a bunch of differently coloured glyphs began to appear all around them, and the younger girl's smile widened even further. "Also, I've brought reinforcements!"

A loud scoff echoed from afar.

"You didn't bring anything, Ruby." Weiss Schnee, of all people, said towards the young reaper. "I had to find this place all on my own because you forgot to take your Scroll with you and give us a call!"

Ruby turned towards the heiress's voice.

"Hey, you didn't find this place on your own, either!" The younger girl argued loudly. "You had the help of that bookshop guy as well. If it wasn't for him, you would have been as lost as all our teammates!"

"That's beside the point!" Weiss Schnee protested in a flustered tone.

Blake could only blink dumbly in confusion as her team leader argued with the SDC heiress.

All the White Fang members surrounding her could only do the same.

"What's happening?"

"I've got no idea, Perry."

The White Fang lieutenant stomped his feet very loudly.

"Silence, all of you!" The burly man exclaimed before turning back to Blake. "Just because you have some friends and have decided to ally yourself with our greatest enemy doesn't mean that you'll be able to escape scot-free, traitor."

Blake scoffed.

"She's not my friend!" She protested.

Ruby groaned out loud.

"Oh, come on!" The younger girl shouted. "Weiss literally risked her own life and safety to find you, Blake! The least you can do is accept that she's not all that bad and call her a friend, okay?

Blake looked at her team leader with a scowl on her face.

"We will discuss it later."

Ruby groaned once again.

Weiss let out a sigh.

"It's alright, Ruby." The SDC heiress said. "We have a few more pressing matters to deal with now."

Blake nodded her head.

It appeared that there was at least one thing that she could agree on with that cruel girl, even if it was only a temporary agreement in the end.

Still, an heiress to the world's cruellest company or not, Weiss Schnee was right that the current issue they had to deal with was the White Fang. The differences in their opinions were secondary.

They would be able to argue with each other later.

"Oh, shut up, already!" The White Fang lieutenant growled out before pointing his weapon at them. "Everyone! Charge! Show them what happens to anyone who makes light of our glorious cause!"

Blake took on a battle stance and grinned subtly.

While she would have been in an incredibly dire situation if she were to face this horde of enemies alone, with two competent fighters backing her up, she would be able to handle that group of enemies without any issues.

In fact, she almost felt bad for the members of her previous organisation.

With the odds being as they were, those people didn't stand a chance.

And cut!

I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
