King Kong 2005 Part 9
Time to explore Skull Island.
Disclaimers: I own nothing
In the Venture deck offshore on Skull Island as dawn approaches, Ironwood, Flynt and Oscar emerge onto the deck as the milky light of dawn washes over the ship. Herb holds the camera as Bart cranks the handle, a small lifeboat is being rowed away from the Venture towards the shore of the island. Bart, Jaune, Willow, Herb, Mike Mercury and 2 sailors are packed into the tiny boat.
"Wait is that dangerous because they never know who else aside from Kong is in Skull Island", Winter speak about what else that can be dangerous in Skull Island.
"Well that's not going to stop them from exploring", Hakaze answered.
"Are you serious?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah."
"You want me to bring them back?" Flynt ask James if he can bring them back to the Venture.
"I don't give a damn about Bart Oobleck, I want this ship fixed and ready to float on the next high tide. We're leaving Mr. Coal." Ironwood said and it did cause most of the audiences to glare at James in the audiences.
"Not to worry, Ironwood and the others will come ashore when Bart and the others run into trouble", Hakaze said because she knows trouble is coming for the group led by Bart.
"Oh thank goodness", Winter said.
"To be honest, I wouldn't leave Willow behind she was accompanying me and my men", James said.
At the cost The boat rows towards the island passing great stone ruins jutting out of the water. The huge wall rises out of the waves and disappears inland. Bart is balanced at the front of the boat, filming as the sailors row ashore.
"Can you believe this, Jaune? ... Skull Island! We got our picture!" Bart said to Jaune quietly as Jaune stares up at the ruins.
To Willow, as if compelled, turns and looks over the side of the boat, into the sea, her breathe catches! In Willow's POV, beneath the water the hideously, distorted face of a fallen statue gapes up at her. Willow sitting huddled to one side of the boat, drawing her rain-slicker closer around her, Willow's fingers edge across the seat and curl over Jaune's hand, wind whistles through the gaping holes in the edifice, a creepy moaning sound that mixes with the deep boom of the crashing waves.
"I just hope mom stay safe", Weiss said worry for her mother's safety.
"Jaune is there with her Weiss, she'll be safe", Ruby said that Jaune is there with her.
"Yeah but I'm not sure when it comes to Kong", Weiss doesn't believe Jaune could when it comes to Kong.
On shore, the boat runs onto a tiny, stony beach. sheer cliffs rise straight up from the shore. Bart, Jaune, Willow, Mercury, Herb, Mike, Preston and 2 sailors clamber out. They find a ancient staircase Bart leads Herb, Jaune, Willow Mercury, Mike and the 2 sailors up a dark, vaulted tunnel. They look in silence at the primitive signs of civilization. Willow looks up the staircase nervously ... taking in the sight of the human and Faunus skulls lining the walls.
"You think there people living in Skull Island?" Blake wonders after seeing skulls of humans and Faunus alike.
"Oh we will all see", Hakaze answered.
Back at the Venture, Oscar looks up, hollow-eyed ... in his hand is the copy of "HEART OF DARKNESS". While he's doing that, Flynt stands nearby. Oscar closing the book, an ashen expression on his face.
"Why does Marlow keep going up the river, why doesn't he turn back?" Oscar ask Flynt who shrugs it off.
"There's a part of him that wants to, Oscar. A part, deep inside himself that sounds a warning, but there's another part, that needs to know ... that needs to defeat the thing which makes him afraid." Flynt pauses, filled with a sudden sense of dread. He reluctantly turns, his eyes drawn to the creepy carved head towering above the ship.
"We could not understand, because we were too far ... and could not remember, because we were travelling in the night of First Ages ..." while Flynt is talking the scene goes to Bart obsessed ... cranking the handle of his camera.
"... of those Ages that are gone, leaving hardly a sign and no memories"
"You know, that's really a good speech my screen self made", Flynt said to everyone.
"Yeah", Neon said agreeing with him.
"I also believe Flynt might give James a good reason to go after and not leave them behind", Ozpin commented.
"That is why the Venture isn't leaving without Willow and the others", Hakaze answered.
At the burial chamber, Bart leads the group across a rickety bamboo bridge, spanning a section of broken path. They pass broken tombs, burial niches containing glimpses of mummies. Ahead ... daylight streams in as they near the end of the staircase. They make their way over large stone blocks, caved in from above ... quiet, tense. They enter a native village with the large wall next to it, thunder rumbles overhead as Bart, Jaune, Willow Herb, Mercury, Preston, Mike and the 2 sailors clamber out of the ruined tunnel mouth. Bart stays low, and hurries to a vantage point. The others follow.
"My they do keep mummies and others of the dead in tombs", Peter commented.
"Well everything that's dead needs to be buried anyway", Bart said to him.
"Is it strange that the entrance to the villages is through a tunnel mouth?" Qrow ask about that.
"Perhaps Qrow", Raven answers him.
"Lastly the wall which is so massive, it's to keep Kong away from the villagers", Glynda said after seeing the massive wall.
"We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster, but there, there you could look at a thing monstrous and free." While Flynt is in voice over, we see a plateau below them, covered with the ruins of an ancient burial ground ... stone mausoleums and tombs, smashed open and destroyed.
"It's not an adventure story is it, Mr. Coal." Oscar ask after he closes his book.
"No, Oscar, it's not." Flynt answered quietly before his eyes drift back to the statue. Oscar follows his gaze.
"Flynt, Oscar, you better convince Ironwood to get my mom and the others out of there right now!" Weiss said like she is panicking.
"Weiss are you panicking?" Ruby ask her.
"Because the way Flynt and Oscar are looking at that statue makes it look like something bothering both of them and me!"
Back at the native village, Bart as he leads the group into the village. Spread among the ruins is a village, a crude shanty town, created by a more recent and far less sophisticated culture ... ramshackle grass and bamboo huts. Preston looking around, unnerved.
"It's deserted", Preston said while Bart cranking the camera as he rolls film on the village.
"Of course it's deserted. Use your eyes, Preston. The place is a ruin! Nobody's lived here for hundreds of years." Bart said but at the moment they hear the sound of the sobbing of a human child.
Willow, Preston, Jaune, Bart and Herb not knowing if they heard what they just heard ... row upon row of sharpened bamboo spikes line the top of the wall. Bart's eyes suddenly widen in disbelief.
"That sounded like a child", Yang said but everyone heard that.
"Stand by for trouble", Hakaze said.
End
Next, meet the natives who are Humans and Faunus alike, they don't take kindly to outsiders, but they have something in mind for Willow.
