"You and Ianto are lucky not to have in-laws," Gwen said gloomily, flopping into the chair in Jack's office. "It was bad enough before we got married, trying to juggle two sets of parents, but now they both want us to spend Christmas at their place. It wouldn't be so bad if they got along. Our dads are fine, but our mums hate each other. Brenda thinks mum's a snob, and mum thinks Brenda's common. Doesn't like Rhys much either, thinks I could've done better for myself. Don't know what I'm going to do."
Jack chuckled. "Christmas, the time of peace and goodwill to all. Funny how it brings out the worst in families."
"It's not funny!" Gwen glared at Jack.
"As for not having in-laws, Ianto and I are spending Christmas Day with Rhiannon and her family. She insisted. Ianto said if we don't do it, she won't speak to us for months." A fond smile tugged at Jack's lips. "He pretends that wouldn't bother him, but it would, so we're going." He leaned back in his seat. "Why don't you tell your parents you and Rhys want to spend Christmas alone this year?"
"God, no! They'd kill us!"
