A/N: I DO NOT own the Harry Potter series. That honour belongs to J.K. Rowling. I only own the plot and original characters. Some of the characters will be OOC (Nice Dursleys [Wizard (and not Obese) Dudley]), Free Sirius, non-Supremacist Malfoys, Lestranges, and most of the death-eater families, Good Voldemort).
Vacation, Had to Get Away
As Dudley headed downstairs to inform his parents and the girls of Sirius' arrival, Harry and Annie took a weeping Sirius on the former's bed and laid him between them. His breathing was erratic and heart racing, so Harry started rubbing his back while Annie was massaging his scalp in a bid to calm him.
"Calm down, daddy," Annie soothed, continuing to rub his head. "Just breathe for us."
The silver-eyed man inhaled and exhaled slowly as he willed himself to calm down. As his heartbeat slowed and breathing evened out, the kids breathed a sigh of relief just as the door opened and Vernon, Petunia, and Gemma walked in.
Giving the kids each £75, the Dursleys and Gemma each sent Harry and Annie with Dudley, Izzy, and Amanda to the cinema and lunch. Vernon went to the window to see Izzy driving them off in Gemma's Jeep before turning to dog animagus.
"Sirius," he cleared his throat while helping the wizard to his feet. "Are you really upset that Gemma turned down your proposal?"
He shook his head and stared at his feet, "I wasn't even disappointed when she said no," he sighed as Vernon lifted his chin. "I was upset that I may have lost my only chance!"
"Your only chance at what?"
"Getting married. Having a proper family."
Raising an eyebrow, Gemma walked to the father of her daughter with her hands on her hips. "You thought marrying me was your only chance at a relationship?"
"I know it was stupid," he turned away. "but I thought if it worked for Snape…"
"It'd work for you," she finished before sighing. "Siri, I'm flattered you thought of marrying me, but proposing out of left field? I love you, but not in a spousal manner. And you don't love me that way, either."
The Marauder sighed again as Gemma placed her hands on his shoulders, "Sirius, please don't deny it! You only thought of marrying me because we share a child, and hoped we could work our way up."
"You're right," he groaned, sitting on the bed before placing his head in his hands. "I'd all but given up that I would fall in love and start a family, so I thought that settling for a woman I'd already had a child with was the next best solution."
Shaking her head at her late sister's friend, Petunia let out a sigh before forcefully meeting her open palm across the left side of his face, causing him to stumble backwards and hold his stinging cheek.
"Ow!" he whined. "Tuney, that hurt!"
"As it should, Sirius!" she shouted, grabbing the desk chair and sitting across from the dogfather. "What example are you setting for your daughter? Your godsons? Do you want them telling you one day that they plan on settling for the first person that gave them attention?"
"Of course not! That's foolish!"
She then pointed to his daughter's mother, "And what of Gemma? Do you think she'll feel wanted in that farce of a marriage?"
Her words cut through the man like a knife. Yeah, that thought had occurred to him, but he planned on making Gemma happy that she wouldn't have thought about being second choice. He also hoped that they would fall in love with each other later on and perhaps have more kids.
Helping his wife out of the rolling chair, Vernon sat in her place and took Sirius by the shoulders.
"Sirius," he sighed. "No matter how much you would've done to keep her happy, it wouldn't have worked for long. You would've regretted marrying her for convenience, and you both would've resented each other, resulting in fights and hatred for one another!"
"Not to mention," Gemma sat next to him. "Annie would be affected. She would know something was off between us. And if we were angry with each other, we may take it out on her. Do you really want to scar her for life?"
Tears ran down his face while shaking his head. He never thought of the long-term outcome of this. He'd just hoped that it would all work out in his favour that he didn't consider Gemma or their daughter. Boy, he had some apologies to make.
With the Malfoys gone until dinner and their parents socialising with the Lestranges, Muriel, and Andromeda, the Snape sisters and baby were down by the coast with the Lestrange sisters and Andi's daughter, Tonks (Don't call her Nymphadora) sitting on a blanket and talking.
"So, Katelyn!" Bianca was massaging the young brunette's scalp. "You graduated from a muggle university and have a blossoming career as an author in both muggle and wizarding worlds?"
Enjoying the kneading her cousin was giving her head, Kate just sighed in pleasure as she nodded. "I love it! Having a career doing what I love? Amazing!"
"True and being back home with your family is the cherry on top!"
Mia, who was rubbing her twin's feet, laughed at that. "I'm so glad to have you back, Kate!" her eyes turned sad. "I missed my baby sister."
Tears fell from Katelyn's eyes, "I missed you too, Mimi!" she whispered, pulling her into a hug and kissing her forehead.
Tonks just rolled her eyes while transfiguring her face to entertain Carly. "I wished I had a sibling," she smiled at the Snape sisters. "or that my dad stuck around after splitting with mum!"
Ara just shook her head, "Ted was a loser, Dora! You and Aunt Andi were better off!"
"Yeah," the Metamorphmagus took Carly into her arms. "I know, but he could've still been in my life even after divorcing her. Maybe help her with money!"
Bianca was plaiting Katelyn's hair into pigtails. "Yeah, he should've helped Aunt Andi with money," she scoffed. "but instead chose to run off with a bar matron and forget you existed rather than fulfil his parental responsibility."
"And besides," Violet took Carly and gently rocking her. "Grandmother and grandfather helped bunches even before Ted ran off. They even had you move back to the family home when they found out he left."
Tonks couldn't argue with that. Her grandparents were super after her dad abandoned them, from moving them into their home and looking after her while her mum received her credentials to become an unspeakable to leaving Andi the house after their death.
"Of course, mum was jealous that Aunt Andi was able to pursue a career," Ara replied. "but quickly got over it."
"That's because I had you and your father to make up for not having a career!"
Everyone turned to see Bellatrix walking towards them with Annabeth in tow. Both women smiled at the girls and at themselves before seeing Katelyn's finished pigtail ponytails.
"What do you think, mother? Aunt Annabeth?" Bianca had Katelyn by her shoulders as they stood up.
"She looks so cute," Annabeth awed, giggling at her granddaughter's reddening face.
"She's beautiful," Bellatrix walked towards the pair and cupped the niece's cheek. "She's dressed appropriately!"
Kate immediately did a double take. "Appropriately?"
Realising that her niece was probably offended, the Lestrange matriarch knelt to the youngest niece's height while looking into her baby blues.
"Katelyn," she sighed. "I wasn't saying anything bad about your normal look, sweetheart. You look beautiful even in a potato sack. But those belly tops and hip trousers you've been wearing recently were unnecessary."
Ara nodded at her mother's words, "Yeah, when did this come about? Was it when you started university?"
Katelyn shook her head, "More like my second year at Wellesley," she cast her eyes to the ground.
"I remember that," Chloe scoffed. "Kate was still wearing her hand-sewn dresses her freshman year. She even made dresses for formal occasions.
"Yes, Chloe! I've seen some of her dresses in photo albums!" Snape's voice echoed the vicinity, before turning to the pigtailed brunette. "Hollywood slip dresses made from silk stemming from old magazines, perhaps?"
Kate just nodded and smiled, "Annie had some Vogue magazines going back to 1920s," her cheeks were tinting red. "When it came to formal occasions, I immediately looked to them for inspiration for the dress I wanted to make."
"I saw those dresses in your little scrapbook, child," Snape raised an eyebrow. "but more modernised as you grew."
"Amanda felt that my homemade dresses were attracting too much attention despite people liking them. She and Izzy took me on a shopping trip and gave me a makeover for my eleventh birthday. They also gave me makeup lessons."
Tonks went wide-eyed. "Makeup lessons when you were eleven?"
"Hey, it wasn't so bad," the brunette laughed as she placed Carly on her lap. "I knew what to do when I really started wearing it."
"I still say you were too young, little one!"
Everyone turned to see a tall and slender young woman whose hair was bright as the flames while flowing to her hips and eyes intensely brown. She was dressed in a floor-length mauve dress with long bell sleeves and a chord tied around her waist.
Both Bellatrix and Annabeth's jaws dropped upon seeing the woman in front of them. The redhead was so familiar to them and arrived here without setting off the wards, but she couldn't be… Could she?
"Who the hell are you?" Bellatrix asked, walking towards the newcomer.
Emitting a laugh with tears streaming down her face, the redhead turned to Katelyn and Chloe, who both nodded in support. She then returned her gaze to the women and took a deep breath, "Annbit? Bettris?"
Bellatrix and Annabeth both gasped. They weren't called those names since Annabeth was ten and Bellatrix was eight. Their youngest sister Sinead, who just turned two, always called them those names since she couldn't pronounce them correctly. When their family was wiped out, a hooded figure took their baby sister and apparated away while they were rescued by Muriel and Cygnus respectively. While they prayed to see their sister again, they were content knowing she was alive and hoped she was adopted like they were.
"Sinead," Annabeth choked. "is it really you?"
Rolling up her sleeves, the woman showed them her silver bracelet with a crowned wolf carved on the pendant.
Tears rolled down Bellatrix's face. "Mother gave us these two weeks before it happened," she and Annabeth held out their arms, displaying their own jewellery before pulling Sinead into their arms while bawling.
"I can't believe Snape's having us come to their location," Amanda groaned, lagging behind the group to the apparition point. "I swear he has eagle eyes or bat ears."
"It could be both," Izzy chuckled, taking her friend's hand. "I mean, even without their wolf abilities, Katelyn and Chloe could see and hear further than the average person."
"And you forgot that Kate can read minds," Harry grabbed Dudley and Annie's hands before all disappearing in a ball of flames.
The Malfoys, Rainey, KC, and Jenna flooed to the Riordan Villa after the former spent the day in Diagon Alley and met Rainey, who was in Flourish and Blotts buying Jane Silver's latest book, Hanna's Eyes. Becky and Narcissa spotted her as she was purchasing the item and dragged her along with them, Narcissa saying young ladies shouldn't travel alone even if they are seventeen.
KC and Jenna are with them because they were heading to the latter's house to hang out after visiting the ice cream shop. Lucius and Draco spotted them walking past talking about Jenna having the house to herself and inviting KC over. Father and son both grabbed them and told them they were accompanying them back to Riordan villa before dragging them off.
"I'm glad that we've caught you three when we did," Lucius said as he rose to his feet and dusted himself off. "I couldn't live with myself if something happened to either of you."
KC was about to say something when the door to the villa was opened, revealing Snape with a raised eyebrow and hands on his hips as he entered the building. The Malfoy patriarch just shrugged at this.
"Let me guess," Severus rolled his eyes, looking at the three tagalongs. "You caught these three wandering around by themselves."
Lucius nodded in response, "Diagon Alley," he then motioned his head to KC and Jenna. "And they were about to head to her house. I believe you understand why I had to intervene."
"But of course. I think we need to have a discussion with all the teens about venturing off by themselves. I had to make group come here after the parents sent them off with cash. Luckily, Black had the brains to contact me, and I was able to make them come here after they were done with the cinema."
Realising Harry was here, Draco rushed out the house to find his fiancée with Annie, Dudley, Harry, and a dark-haired girl he didn't know at the lake fishing. Racing to the crew, the blonde pecked Kate on the lips before asking what was happening.
"My mum is wanting Kate's famous beer battered fish and chips for dinner," the black-haired girl chirped. "so, we're going fishing!"
Harry just laughed, "Astoria's team is coming also," he detached a large catfish from his hook before dropping it into his cooler. "Ginny's bringing her famous macaroni salad, and Stori's bringing her hushpuppies."
Raising an eyebrow at this, the Potions master turned to the ravenet. "And what are you bringing to the table, Harry?"
"Oh, I'm filleting the fish."
"Believe you me," Becky laughed, taking the pole from Harry, and joining the others. "You want Harry to fillet the fish! He's an expert at the sport!"
"Paige can fillet fish well also, Becky! In case you forgot that!"
Stifling a laughter, Snape shook his head and sent Harry to get started on the fish before motioning Katelyn to follow him.
"You fish, hunt, make and mend clothes, and fight!" he listed as they walked down to the beach. "You also cook, create your own spells, and earn a living doing what you love."
The brunette just shook her head, "I mostly make and mend my own clothes, dad! Annie's better at making clothes for others. The only handmade clothing I made for others were scarves and hats."
The man in black turned to her with bug eyes, "Scarves and hats," his jaw immediately dropped. "You've sent me those for the past few Christmases!"
"Right-o-Rooney!"
"And the chocolate bunnies and eggs for Easter that literally sent me to my happy place?"
She had to laugh as she did a pirouette, "That was me and Harry! He felt he owed you after the torture you endured thanks to James and the Wild Bunch!"
Snape's eyes widened for a minute before nearing to the sandy shore. "He owes me nothing, Katelyn!" he then picked her up to face her at eye level. "I've learned long ago the consequences of holding a grudge."
"Yeah, holding a grudge isn't good for anything. It keeps you from enjoying life to the fullest."
Later that night, the fish and chips were fried, the sides were made, and everyone was digging in. KC was taking bites of his fish while talking to Draco and Ryder about his return to Hogwarts.
"So, you're ready to go back to school, KC?" Ryan asked, rocking little Ryder in his arms, to which KC nodded.
"Good! Hogwarts needs kids like you! Smart, strong, and can think on their feet."
Kate had just made her plate and walked over to sit next to her Aunt Sinead and Cousin Callisto, who were conversing with Rainey.
"So, do you like your salad, Rainey?" Kate sat across from her before taking a bite of her fish.
"Are you kidding? I love it!" she shrieked, causing everyone to turn their heads to her with gaped mouths. "Oh, sorry!"
Callisto and Sinead just laughed at her, "Don't be!" Sinead shook her head. "Katelyn makes the best salads. "Is that the cucumber noodle dish?"
"With creamy Tzatziki sauce," Katelyn sang as she dug into her salad. "Hey, I'm addicted to salads!"
Taking a bite of her own salad, the blonde just laughed, "It's too bad you had to give up the vegan lifestyle for health reasons. You were really committed."
"Yeah, but I still love my fruit and veggies," chuckled Kate before turning to Callisto. "So, how does it feel to have graduated from Dartmouth?"
This caused the girl to sigh with a smile, "Great!" her blues sparkled as she chirped. "I have a job with the Ministry of Magic in the Magical/Muggle Relations Department."
"That's the Department that helps wizarding students who want to attend Muggle universities," Rainey smiled as she took another bite of her salad. "It's how Amy and I were able to attend our respective schools."
"Yeah, I'm in charge of interviewing and recommending candidates who applied. Madame Burbage, who was recently hired as the head of the department, said that applications were pouring out from Hogwarts from ages 13 and up."
"Considering that Hogwarts recently allowed their students to apply instead of watching them drop out for Manchester in order to go to university, of course kids would be coming in droves."
"Burbage said that Hogwarts had so many students withdraw to attend Manchester because they wouldn't even consider letting NEWT students participate in the programme," Callisto then turned to Katelyn. "saying that it took your father to finally convince the governors and staff to give it a chance."
Katelyn just smiled at that while digging into her fish.
After dinner and some beach volleyball, Sirius and Annie returned to Grimmauld Place and retired to the living room to rest on the couch.
"Damn, dinner was delicious!" Sirius stated as he sat Annie on his lap. "I knew Snape could cook, but damn! Katelyn's the queen of cooking! First, the pork roast and tonight, beer battered fish and the chips? Hell, even the salad was amazing!"
Annie playfully whacked him on the shoulder, "What about Astoria and Ginny?" she laughed. "They brought hushpuppies and macaroni salad."
"Those were good, too! Maybe we should host a get together before you start Hogwarts. That way you can show what a Black can do!"
The young Black joyfully shook her head. "I can cook," she leaned into her father's embrace. "but Kate and Harry are the best of us."
"That may be, sweetheart," he kissed the side of her head. "but I know there are areas you outshine the rest."
"You already know I can make clothes, dad. I can also restore outfits up to centuries old."
Turning her to face him, Sirius then removed Annie's jacket and tossed it to the side before peppering kisses on her shoulder.
"I am glad you are my daughter, Annie," he whispered, moving her head to his chest, and kissing her forehead.
Smiling up at him, the thirteen-year-old planted a smooch on his cheek. "And I'm proud to be your daughter, dad."
The two remained huddled on the couch for a while before retiring to their rooms for the night.
After arriving home, Harry was in his room meditating while the rest of the family were downstairs. Meditation was a part of his life since training with Dahlia since it calmed his mind and helped strengthen his magic whilst curbing accidents. It also came into play when he was estranged from Katelyn because it released any negativity clouding his judgement in order to get through the day.
Sitting on his bed, the ravenet repeatedly breathed in and out as he let the negativity exit his body and allowed positivity to flow. Feeling his magic increase, he took another deep breath and concentrated before holding out his hand, only to feel it being grasped by another.
Eyes still closed and an emerging smile, the twelve-year-old was immediately pulled to his feet and into a tender kiss before opening his eyes and seeing a boy with dyed black hair pulled back in a ponytail and silver-blue eyes. Only a few inches taller than Harry, the guy slowly broke the kiss and drew him into a hug.
"Skylar," Harry kissed his cheek before looking up at the older boy. "I missed you!"
"And I missed you, baby!" hissed the older boy, slithering his hands to Harry's hips and snogging him senseless as he slid under his shirt.
Back at the villa, adults were in the living room getting acquainted with Sinead (reacquainted for Annabeth and Bellatrix) while the teens and Tonks were in Katelyn's room getting to know Callisto. Mia had known of Sinead's survival from Katelyn and even met her and Callie a few times, but Sinead asked her to keep quiet until the time was right. Who knew that it was tonight?
Anyway, everyone was sitting on Katelyn's bed facing the new girl, who was sitting at the head shaking out her hands.
"So, let me get this straight," Tonks' chest tightened. "Your mother is Aunts Bella and Annabeth's long-lost sister who went missing as a tot when the rest of their natural family was massacred?"
The ravenette couldn't help but nod as scraping her hand through her hair. While she was elated to finally meet the rest of her family, there was the fluttery feeling in her stomach that she couldn't shake.
"A hooded man rescued her by killing the man who was trying to take her and then turned her over to Dahlia to raise and train?"
Callie just nodded again because she couldn't bring herself to talk. She may be a powerful witch but is shy upon meeting people the first time. Luckily, Katelyn and Becky were on each side of her holding her hand.
The metamorphmagus must've sensed Callisto's shyness because her nose started phasing into cute animal ones, and she even made the noises to match. This made the sixteen-year-old relax and laugh her butt off.
"That's much better, isn't it," Tonks cooed, laying her hand on Callie's. "You're family, Callie. You don't have to be nervous around us."
The ravenette just smiled and entwined the older girl's hands with hers.
Back in the living room, everyone's jaw dropped after Sinead told her story and revealed her saviour's identity. Face paler than normal, Lucius had to sit down upon processing this new information before he succumbed to fainting.
"So, let me get this straight!" Bellatrix took two steps back. "Our Lord saved you from our family massacre before handing you over to Dahlia to raise?"
The redhead nodded at her older sister's question before taking a breath, "That's correct."
Annabeth then turned to face her, "And you've known where we were the whole time?" she folded her arms at her stomach. "And that Katelyn was your niece when she arrived at Dahlia's?"
"I've watched over you for years, Annabeth. Of course, I knew of all of you."
Shaking her head, Bellatrix grabbed her youngest sister by the shoulders and rushed her to her feet. "Then, why didn't you contact us, Sinead? You and Callisto would've been more than welcomed into our families."
Tears immediately rolled down the redhead's face as she nearly collapsed to the ground in tears before Bellatrix and Annabeth caught her before pulling her into a hug.
Back at Privet Drive, Harry and Skylar were entwined in each other's arms with the latter stroking the former's hair.
"I can't believe that Snape cut your hair," the older boy chuckled. "Sure, it looks good, but the longer hair was better."
Harry had to laugh at that, "I would've been fine if they let me donate it," he let Skylar to pull him closer. "but Snape said it was too much of a hassle since the hair may have remaining traces of magic."
With another kiss, Sky got out of bed and preceded to get dressed. "Are you coming to my graduation?"
"Sky, have you forgotten?" the younger one playfully scoffed. "We graduate the same day? And from the same school?"
"Yeah, baby! That was my bad."
With a last kiss of the day, Skylar apparated out while Harry cast cleaning and fragrance charms in the room and on himself and clothes to get rid of the carnal evidence.
Later that night when everyone went to bed, Katelyn was burning the midnight oil working on a new book. She had the idea for days but now was the best time it work on it, since everyone had turned in earlier. Before she left for Isle Riordan, Kate was told by Jane that the latter was sending her recently released book, Hanna's Eyes, and it should be there when she returns for vacation. So, this inspired the thirteen-year-old to start a new novel and finish the draft before school started.
After finishing the second chapter, the brunette saved her work with a yawn and shut down her computer before she heard her door opening and with a gasp, saw her father reclosing it and walking towards her and pulling her to her feet and into a hug.
A/N: Sorry, this took so long, but I had a writer's block no matter what I did. Also, I know about the notification situation and that everyone is having the same problem. Please, be patient with me, I'm working as hard and fast as I can to deliver the chapters.
