A/N: I DO NOT own the Harry Potter series. That honour belongs to J.K. Rowling. I only own the plot and original characters. Some of the characters will be OOC (Nice Dursleys [Wizard (and not Obese) Dudley]), Free Sirius, non-Supremacist Malfoys, Lestranges, and most of the death-eater families, Good Voldemort).
It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want to
And with a deep breath…
Harry blew out his candles in one exhale, and everyone was cheering around him as the smoke dispersed in the air. Looking down at the cake, the birthday boy couldn't help but smile at the 4-tiered cake decorated with green buttercream frosting and topped with a Yu Yu Hakusho icing topper which was made by Peri. The girls knew he was a huge Yu Yu Hakusho fan and were more than excited to top his cake with the gang on it.
As he smiled at the girls he grew up with for most of his life, his body felt lighter at the length they were willing to go to make his birthday the best ever. Seeing Katelyn was the closest to him, Harry grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug.
"Thank you," he whispered in happy tears before using telepathy with the girls, "Thanks for everything."
With a kiss on his cheek, the brunette gently pulled apart before wiping his tears. "Happy Birthday, Harry," she hugged him once more before returning to Draco's side.
A few minutes later, the party was in full swing, and everyone was either dancing or eating. After eating her cake, Kate was kicking off her shoes and dancing with Harry and Paige to a mix of System of a Down, Linkin Park, Evanescence, etc. A few others joined the fun while the rest of the party goers were either cheering them on or watching in shock, as they never saw this type of dancing before.
"I still can't believe you all planned this party," Harry cried over the speakers. "or that you paid for Amara to cater for it!"
Annie snickered at that, "Dad paid for it," she corrected while continuing to dance. "we just chose the food."
"Yeah, buffalo wings, fruit and veggie platters, crisps, cupcakes, cookies, pizzas, and finger sandwiches. All healthy too!"
Kate was jumping up and down to the beat. "Hey, Draco once told me that most of the kids never heard of chicken wings or pizzas," she chirped. "So, I thought they should try it since it was healthy and wouldn't get sick from eating it the first time, as opposed to eating pizza from Pizza Hut or Domino's."
"This party is great," a girl said as she bumped into the wolf pack. "Oh, sorry!"
"No worries," Paige and Kate pulled the girl to them as the gang introduced themselves one-by-one using only first names.
The curvaceous dirty blonde immediately shook their hands, "I'm Lavender Brown," she said with a squeal. "And I love your outfits!"
"Thanks," they replied and continued dancing.
As the teens continued partying, their parents were in the kitchen discussing Hogwarts. Hell, if not for the silencing charms, their voices alone would scare off the party goers in a flash.
"So, everyone's Hogwarts letters came in today?" Severus poured himself a glass of wine before sighing. "I don't need to even guess who was rejected."
Petunia nodded as she pulled two letters from her pocket, "Dudley was accepted," she slid the contents to the centre of the table, "but Harry wasn't."
"What?!" Sirius pounded his fist on the table before taking the letters and reading them for himself. "Harry's a wizard! All wizards are accepted into Hogwarts!"
"Wizards and witches who Albus can easily control, Black!" the Potions Master slowly retorted before tossing his letters on the table. "They're happy to have Mia, but Katelyn was rejected."
"Same with Paige," Lydia then added hers to the pile. "It's like Dumbledore thinks our kids are threats or something!"
Snape was about to say something when Lucius apparated into the room with Lisa in tow. The rest raised eyebrows at his arrival, since he didn't like anyone dropping in on him in this manner. The Malfoy patriarch just shrugged off their glances and pulled back a chair for the Gunden mom before throwing both their letters on the stack.
"Becky, too?" Haley shook her head before turning to Lisa. "K.C.?"
The brunette sighed in response. "Same. I know what he's doing to Kate and the others is vile, but K.C. was already a student. How could he'd been rejected?"
Sirus took out Annie's letter and opened it for the first time, his heart sinking as he read it. "I wanted to surprise Annie with her acceptance letter tonight," his head fell in his hands. "If she had read this…"
That's when the blonde aristocrat cleared his throat, "Well, I'm already taking care of it," a smirk plastered on his face. "Let's see how Dumbledore likes being overturned by the Wizengamot."
When the wolf pack dispersed, Katelyn went to another part of the house with Draco in order to hear themselves speak, finding a few other guests chilling on the sofa.
"Whoever planned this party knew what they were doing," one party goer said as he downed a piece of his roast. "Plenty of food, fun music, and dancing? I'm having a good time!"
Sitting across from him, a girl with a cute pug nose nodded in agreement, "Me too, Zabini!" she chuckled, sipping her fizzy drink. "Our birthday parties were more formal and no one dressed so casually."
"Yeah, Pansy!" Draco laughed as he sat next her before placing Kate on his lap. "It's a casual party and you're still dressed in your best."
"But of course," she glanced at her pale pink dress which flowed to her ankles and completed with a white sash at her midsection. "Like you, Malfoy, I was taught to always look my best."
While listening to the conversation, Kate's attention was geared at Becky sitting at the far side of the room laughing with Astoria, Jenna, and a girl possibly of Indian descent. "I was taught to take pride in my appearance also," she returned her gaze to her social circle. "It takes a while to get used to."
"You're telling me? I hated when my mother would wake me up at the crack of dawn to fix my hair and dress me up," she took a bite of her cookie and dabbed her mouth with her napkin. "especially if we weren't going anywhere that day."
The Snape child leaned her head against Draco's shoulder, thinking about the times she and the others were woken at the crack of dawn by Dahlia, but not to be dolled up. They rose at that time to clean themselves and get breakfast before lessons, which lasted until lunch. Then, they had an hour to themselves before combat training, muggle and magical. This lasted for an hour or two daily, giving them a few hours of r and r before supper. Of course, they also learned life skills on the weekends: cooking, cleaning, sewing, and home building. Yeah, waking up at dawn was annoying at first but got easier over time.
"Woah!" Kate had to shake herself out of her thoughts. "That was an unexpected trip down memory lane."
Wrapping his arms around her, Draco pulled her back to his chest and stroked her hair. "Thinking about your time with Dahlia?"
"Yeah," she turned to face Pansy. "What you said about having to wake up early took me back to the time I had to get up for training and lessons when I was younger, so I can relate," she then held out her hand, to which the other girl shook. "I'm Katelyn, by the way."
"Pansy Parkinson."
That's when the other guy leaned forward and shook Katelyn's hand, "Blaise Zabini," he smiled.
After a while of dancing, Harry and Lavender entered the room where Katelyn and Draco were talking to two other kids with Becky, Stori, Jenna, and another girl joining them. Harry immediately walked over to the group and sat next to Jenna with Lavender plopping on his lap.
"Everybody having a good time?" the birthday boy asked as he adjusted the dirty-blonde to where she was not blocking his view.
Draco nodded while placing a hand on Katelyn's thigh, "It's a great party, Potter!" he smiled, sipping some juice. "Have you thanked Katelyn and Annabeth, yet?"
"Along with Sirius for paying for it and Amara for catering it," he nodded. "I also thanked Peri for making the topper."
"Who were those people on the cake?" Lavender turned towards Harry. "And they were plastered on some books on the party favours."
Harry just smiled at her while pulling her hair back, "My favourite anime, Yu Yu Hakusho!" he chuckled. "The books are manga – Japanese comics."
"I'm a Sailor Moon fan, myself," the Indian girl finished her drink before shaking Harry's hand. "I'm Priya. Priya Jain."
Kate had to do a double take upon hearing that, "Jain?" she asked. "Any relation to Padme Jain?"
"She's my mother," she nodded before letting out a gasp. "Wait! Katelyn Sertori?"
Hearing that made the multi-coloured hair smile, "Katelyn Snape," she blushed. "my dad changed it!"
"What the?!" Blaise and Pansy shot up from their chairs when they heard that. "Snape has a kid?!" Pansy shouted, to which Draco held up three fingers.
Lavender was about to say something, but Priya turned to Becky, "Becky Braddock?"
"Malfoy," Draco corrected. "Rebecca Malfoy."
This made Pansy and Lavender pale at this information, "Draco," Pansy's eyes widened. "You have a sister?"
"I do."
"Wow!" Lavender's mouth gaped open, before she turned to Priya. "How did you know their names, though?"
"My mother is one of their mentors." she simply shrugged.
"Okay," Lavender slowly said upon getting up, dragging Harry with her. "Let's get some more food."
This caused everyone else to get up and head to the food.
When the party was over and everyone cleared out, the parents gathered the kids into the sitting room to talk.
"Dad," Katelyn quickly noticed Snape's worried expression on his face. "Is everything okay?"
Reaching into his pockets, the Potions Master took out the Hogwarts letters and placed them on the coffee table.
The wolf pack looked to each other before Harry finally spoke, "We don't need to read them." he took a deep breath.
"Pup," Sirius blinked. "what do you mean?"
"That really ain't telling us what we don't already know, Padfoot. Mia and Dudley were accepted."
"But the rest of us were rejected," Becky finished for him.
This caused Sirius' and Lucius' jaws to drop while Snape and the others just shrugged. They weren't at all too shocked to know that the kids figured this out so quickly but were curious as to how.
"We were told by Dahlia and some others that wizarding schools would reject our admission because we were too far advanced for the trace," Katelyn answered upon reading their minds. "If they can't control us, then they turn us away since they feel that we can't be trusted."
"And since I took out my trace before leaving to track down Greyback," K.C. guessed, drinking his Coke. "and I can't be traced again, they don't want me coming back."
This caused Lisa to nod whilst sipping her water before turning to Lucius, "You said you had a plan."
"I do," the Malfoy patriarch drawled as he placed his hand on his hips. "Upon receiving my letter concerning the situation, Minister Fudge replied he will take care of this and reply to me by tomorrow afternoon. The rest of the school governors are siding with me as well."
Severus then placed his hands on his lap. "I've spoken to Minerva about this also," he took a deep breath. "She said to get their books and supplies anyway, so we don't have to rush it later. She's also spoken to the Wizengamot, Lucius."
"So…" Paige was biting her lip. "We wait?"
Both Severus and Lucius just nodded.
A/N: Another chapter coming to an end. I'm thinking of having a meeting as opposed to simply overturning the rejection. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
