Shadow smirked, returning to his and Maria's house after being in Gotham, tossing his Batman outfit into the laundry basket but cleaning himself up hoping Maria wouldn't ask questions taking deep-breaths and leaving the bathroom seeing Maria hug him asking if he was okay. "Yes Maria I'm okay don't worry. I got minor injuries helping people." Shadow told her making her happy. "That's good, you're keeping the promise." Maria told him.
Shadow, I know about Gotham. Let's hope Maria doesn't find out. Shadow softly growled reading the message from Sonic on his phone texting back frowning making Maria notice something bothered him as he took deep breaths telling her, making the female orange-furred hedgehog get it but impressed.
"A certain glue blur was gonna spill the coffee beans to you. So I told you but I'm being careful." Shadow said but he was getting tired, after doing hero stuff, plus Alfred and Bruce had told him about balance between personal life and superheroics which Maria hoticed catching hin knowing he was exhausted so was carrying him to bed so he could rest but she knew he'd be back to hormal soon.
The next morning, Maria was still sleeping after reading a lot last night as Shadow had sturred from sleeping rubbing sleep from his eyes heading to the kitchen making himself coffee and breakfast for him and Maria hoping she was alright and saw her join him yawning, making himself coffee concerned. "Relax Shadow I was just up reading like you sometimes." Maria told him.
"That's good Maria. You feel like playing chess." Shadow told her making her nod.
This made Shadow grin, as he was grabbing the chess set making Maria smile at this asking if he'd taught Sonic to play chess seeing him shake his head. "He doesn't have the patience for it." Shadow told her. This made Maria giggle knowing from many games of chess, you had to have focus which would be hard for Sonic to do beginning the game focusibg and talking smirking as Maria declared checkmate impressibg Shadow
"That was awesome Maria." Shadow told her not hearing his pager go off meaning Gotham was safe or Bruce was handling it smirking meaning he had time to be with Maria which was good.
