In this AU Delilah was never murdered. Lucifer part-time runs the Lux, part-time rules hell and Maze regularly goes down to spend a few days torturing souls.

Chloe and Lucifer first met at the Gillian Taylor case (2x01) Lucifer helped Chloe solve the case and Chloe and Ella noticed the strange powers Lucifer has. When a criminal tried to kill Chloe (chapter 5), Lucifer protected her with his wings: that moment Chloe, Ella and Trixie found out Lucifer really is the devil.

Now Rory is a child. Julia (human) and Na'amah (demon) are Rory's sitters.

Rory is friends with the twins Jane and Mason Verner. The three children found a black panther cub and the mother of the twins found out Rory has been telling the truth: she is a half-angel, her father is the devil.

In the meanwhile Chloe figured out God's wife Ashira might be trying to hinder God in repairing that cosmological constant, see chapter eleven.

It looks as Uriel is not happy with Na'amah and Maze being allowed to visit heaven. He is teaming up with the goddess to kill the two demonesses and to block repairing the cosmological constant.

Chapter twenty-six: More revelations

[C]

Maze scratched her nose for a moment and then said: "You should trick her to find out."

"Trick her?" Chloe asked. She had just explained to Maze and Raziel what she was suspecting: Ashira wants to figure out God's plan how to send that message to the past himself, that message about the cosmological constant. The three women plus Lucifer were having a drink at Lucifer's and Chloe's home.

"Yeah," Maze answered. "Fake something that looks as a way to send that message and see whether she will show up to stop it."

"How do you envision such, Mazie?" Lucifer asked.

"Mm…" The demoness frowned and studied her glass. "Hire some engineers and task them to build a time machine."

"How do you build a time machine?" Lucifer asked.

"That doesn't matter. The whole thing only has to look interesting. Make sure some newspaper or television show picks it up and see whether your mom shows up to kill them all."

"Maze!" Chloe said. "We can't let Ashira kill some people, not even put them in the danger of being killed."

Both Raziel and Lucifer nodded, but Maze shrugged. "Details on which we can work?"

"No!"

For Chloe that was the end of the discussion and Maze didn't go on with it.

Next day was Friday and Rory soon noticed Jane was hardly talking, not to her, not to anyone else. "What is wrong?" she whispered. "Are you worried about Noah?"

Earlier Rory had asked Jane about the panther and the girl had told her Animal Care had picked up Noah yesterday evening, it was the only thing Jane had said to her. Jane shook her head, breathed deeply and whispered: "Are we friends?"

"Of course," Rory said, almost with normal volume.

"Rory, Jane. No talking," the teacher said. "You should work."

For a minute the two girls kept their eyes on their work-books and wrote some answers. Then Rory bent to Jane. "Why would you think otherwise?"

"You always say your father is the devil. You say you're a half-angel."

"I am."

"Noah's nails and teeth didn't hurt you." Jane looked at her and swallowed. "You prayed and next moment you knew Noah was a panther."

"As I said: ayaya told me."

"It can't be true… If it's true, can we be friends?"

"Why not? My dad or my ayaya have nothing to do with us being friends. We both like board games, we both like playing at the lake, we both like each other, don't we?"

Jane frowned for a second and than nodded. "We do. But you're a half-angel."

Rory quickly looked at the teacher and than told Jane about her aunt Anael visited Jane's mom. "You should call your mom during the break… Or, wait." She folded her hands.

"What?" Jane asked.

"A minute," Rory whispered.

It took a few minutes before Jane's phone vibrated to indicate an incoming message. Keeping an eye on the teacher and keeping the phone under the table, Jane took a quick look. "My mom," she whispered. "You can trust Rory, she writes. How…"

"I prayed to my dad to tell him you found out and he asked my mom to call your mom."

Jane stared ahead for some moments and then with a grin whispered: "We're not allowed to send messages during class."

"We're not allowed to use our phone to send messages during class," Rory answered and winked. "The words our phone are literally in the school rules. Dad pointed that out for me."

"That's true."

Chloe and Lucifer were at a crime scene when Lucifer folded his hands and then turned to Chloe. "Just as her mum, Jane figured out Rory was telling the truth all the time. She is asking Rory about it."

"Is she in panic?"

He shrugged. "Maybe a bit. What can we do? The girls are in class."

Chloe thought for a second. "I will give Claire a call." She did and started to explain to Claire Verner. After a few sentences, Claire interrupted her. "I will call Jane first."

"You can't, she is in class."

"Let me first send my girl a text message, she can read that unnoticed."

After some more time with Claire on the phone, Chloe ended the call and concentrated on the case again. Well, she did. But she noticed Ella was a bit disturbed and was texting a few times. "Another case in parallel?" she asked.

"Oh, sorry." Ella quickly put her phone down. "No, just Maze…"

"Brian Page," Lucifer suddenly said, studying the case file so far.

"The victim, yes," Chloe reacted, a bit wondered. She already knew the victim's name.

"He has a Canadian driver licence."

"Yeah?" Chloe looked at him with raised eye brows, she had noticed the same.

"But on his key ring hangs a tab with the words Dallas, Texas. Don't you know a Page in Dallas?"

It took Chloe a second to remember. "Nancy Page from the DPD. The case around Chopin's letter."

"Indeed. There will be multiple families with the name Page, but they might be related."

Back in the precinct Chloe decided to give Nancy a call.

"Chloe?" Nancy said. "Long time! Your tipster has another case for us?"

"My tipster… no." For a moment Chloe smiled. Back then it had been the information Lucifer learned by interviewing souls in hell that had solved the Chopin's letter case. "No, sorry. No case for you."

"I still would like to know how your tipster could know all what he told you."

Chloe could predict what would happen if she told the truth: "The devil was and is my tipster. He interviewed some souls in Hell and told me what they confessed."

As she expected, Nancy laughed. "That would be a trick. As I said back then: keep your sources secret. But if you have no case..."

"Well a case on our side," Chloe said. "Do you know a Brian Page, born 1985?"

"I have a cousin Brian… and yes he is born in 1985. He left Dalles years ago. We, the family, hardly heard of him since. Don't tell me found him… dead?"

Chloe app-ed Nancy a picture of the victim and Nancy acknowledged it was her cousin.

"Why did he leave Dallas?" Chloe asked.

Through the phone they heard Nancy take a deep breath. "It all started… No, earlier. My great-grandfather Carl Page was also Brian's great-grandfather. Carl was a US marine during world-war two. He fought in the pacific, on Saipan, and there he got hold of an old samurai sword; experts later said it was at least two hundred years old. Carl's eldest son was my grandfather Nick Page, also Brian's grandfather. Nick Page had three sons. He inherited the sword and said his eldest son, that is my father John Page, should inherited it later."

"Wait a moment, not to fast," Chloe interrupted her. "I'm trying to write it down."

"Ready? Well. Grandpa Nick's second son is Jimmy Page and he is Brian's father. Jimmy was never happy with the intention my dad would inherited the sword and that became a point when one day grandpa Nick moved home. His sons were suppose to help and… well… uncle Jimmy complained he did most of the work and my dad hardly showed up during the move."

"Sorry for asking," Chloe said. "But… did your uncle have a point?"

"I don't know. I was only seven or eight and I only hear my dad's side of the story. Anyway, after grandpa moved home the sword was gone. The box in which it was kept was empty. Uncle Jimmy claimed he never opened that box, grandpa was in tears and my dad was furious. Six years later, when grandpa died, my dad went to the policy and reported that uncle Jimmy had stolen the sword. That caused… some conflicts in the family. Dad and uncle Jimmy never spoke with the other ever since. Brian left for his mother in Canada and never had any contact with the family since."

"And Nick Page's third son?"

"Uncle Terry. He tried to keep the peace and as a result both my father and uncle Jimmy despised him. Physics professor, never married, no children and diagnosed for cancer. Well, he has been heavy smoking and heavy drinking his whole life."

"Ok. Did your dad have any prove your uncle Jimmy had taken the sword?" Chloe asked.

"No. Not that he told me or my sister. But he was convinced uncle had done so."

Chloe nodded. "Brian left for Canada?"

"Uncle Jimmy was divorced. His ex-wife was Canadian and had gone home. As far as the family here in Dallas know, Brian is still in Canada."

"Well, he is not," Lucifer whispered to Chloe.

"Again sorry for asking," Chloe said in the phone. "What was your relation with Brian?"

"I understand you have to ask and my colleagues can testify I was working each day for the last five days. But before all this, when I was a little girl, Brian and me were close friends. Playing games, happy to see the other. Uncle Jimmy's home had a huge attic, filled with old stuff on which we played a lot."

"Ok. Do you have a name and address of Brian's mother?" Chloe asked.

Chloe got in contact with a Canadian police officer and found out Brian had only lived for two years with his mom. Then his mother had died and Brian hadn't had an address in Canada since.

"How did he come to LA? Where did he live all this time?" Chloe mused. "His credit card history suggests he is traveling all the time, staying in some town for a week or a month or anytime and then move on."

"Cheat?" Lucifer suggested. "Why not?"

Chloe slowly nodded. "It's the easiest option. That is, if he is in Hell."

So Lucifer took her in his arms and carried her to Hell. Descending from the roof into the building that was the administrative heart of Hell, Chloe suddenly realized she walked a step in front of Lucifer and was leading the way. She slowed down and let him catch up. "I realize I know the way…"

"Of course you do, detective."

She raised her eyebrows. "Knowing the way in Hell. That's not normal for a living human."

Hr grinned and gestured she should walk on.

Brian Page's soul was indeed in Hell. "… I live in a camper," he told them.

"Live? Lived," Chloe softly corrected.

Brian didn't react on that. He was sitting in a chair, shoulders low, head down, shaking.

"Where can we find that camper?" Lucifer asked.

Brian gave the name of the parking place and the number on the license plate. He had already told them who killed him: a guy named Jack Spenser from Santa Clara, California. "I was hired to get the money back Jack's father had lent from Dan. He didn't want to pay… couldn't pay. The father I mean. Jack came to revenge his father," Brian had said. That has been his 'job' for the last ten years: getting money back that shady guys owed to even more shady mob bosses.

"Where can we find prove?" Chloe had asked.

"My phone is in the camper. With calls and apps to and from both Jack and Don."

Chloe checked her notes and decided she had enough on the crime. "The samurai sword that your dad took from your grandfather? Where can we find that?"

For the first time during the interrogation he looked up. "How… You know…"

"I know your cousin Nancy. I talked with her before coming here."

He lowered his head again. "It's stored safe, in the 'hidden' closet of my dad's attic. Cicy knows the place."

"Cicy?"

"That's how I called Nancy when we were small kids. We often played in the attic and we found a secret closet. Tell Cicy I'm sorry."

Chloe and Lucifer found the camper at the place Brian's soul had told them and in it was Brian's phone.

"Let me open it." As always Lucifer had no problem to unlock a phone.

She quickly scanned the calls and apps. "That's enough."

Santa Clara was a bit outside the jurisdiction of the LAPD, so back in the precinct Chloe asked assistance of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office to find Jack Spenser, the killer.

"Next: call Nancy," Chloe muttered and looked at Lucifer.

"Yes?" he said. "But what do you want to tell her…"

Chloe pursed her lips. "How can we explain we found the camper? How we know were the sword is?…" Chloe mused with her phone in her hand. At that moment her phone at her desk rang. "Decker."

"A visitor for you, detective Decker. Mrs Nancy Page from the DPD."

Chloe looked at Lucifer and noticed he folded his hands and closed his eyes: talking to his dad or one of his siblings she knew. A moment later he opened his eyes and looked a bit confused. "Dad. Dad says it's safe to tell her the truth and he says Ella has to be present when we talk with Nancy."

Chloe and Lucifer has never met in person with Nancy before, up to now all communication had be by phone or email, so they started with shaking hands and introducing. "Lucifer Morningstar, the devil," Lucifer said.

"The devil…?" Nancy chuckled. "Thus you are Chloe's tipster?"

"I am. I am Chloe's everything: tipster, partner, lover."

Nancy took a second look at him and smiled approvingly. "Lover also? You're a lucky woman, Chloe."

"I was not yet during the Chopin case," Lucifer said while they were walking to a conference room. "Chloe did think I was insane. But now we have a six years old daughter together."

Nancy laughed while Chloe knocked on the door of Ella's lab. "Ella can you come? Ella did the forensics in the Chopin letter case and does it in the case around your cousin."

Again hands were shacked while they took seats. "Did you find anything on Brian already?" Nancy asked.

Chloe hesitated, still not sure what to say, but Lucifer seemed to trust his dad's assurance and opened with: "He was traveling with and living in a camper. A camper that we found yesterday late afternoon."

Nancy raised her brows. "How did you find out?"

"I am the devil. As Chloe explained yesterday: if needed we can interview a soul in hell. Brian told us about his camper. Well, his soul told us."

Motionless Nancy stared at him. Ella grabbed her hand and whispered. "No need to be afraid, he will never harm you, never harm any of us."

"It can't be true," Nancy stammered.

Lucifer softly said: "Brian asked us to tell Cicy he is sorry. He also told us the samurai sword is in the secret closet in the attic of his father's house."

Nancy stared at him, eyes wide open and without breathing.
