Chapter 8: The Ogre!
{Sonia's P.O.V.}
Just a few hours ago, this crowd of Gym Challengers was on the cusp of rioting. Now, they were enjoying themselves, holding plates of food, watching movies on the large projector screen or playing board games at one of the tables, having battles with some trainers a reasonable distance away, or discussing the Pokemon trade. It was almost as if the tension from earlier never existed.
And what caused this mood change? Adam. As usual in the short time she knew him.
Bede kept his word after his and Bede's battle if you can call that a battle, most likely because the crowd was watching him and now realized his actions could cause problems for the Chairman. However, it was clear that Bede wasn't happy about his loss. Even now, he is standing quite far from the crowd, silently munching a burger someone gave him. I did talk to Adam about how he was treating Bede as unnecessary, but Adam responded by saying that he would prefer to come off as an asshole than have some teen's death potentially weighing on his mind. I couldn't deny there was some truth in Adam's words because if the league was willing to block off the mines and potentially put a hold on the Gym Challenge, which could be problematic for some towns and businesses as they might rely on the income that the Gym Challengers bring in, then I'm confident they are doing it for a legitimate reason, so Bede could have put himself in great danger just because he refused to wait a couple of hours for a Flying Taxi. And if something were to happen to Bede, it would be a PR nightmare.
People know that traveling the world as a Pokemon does come with risks, but the League has to try to minimize the severity of those risks. If they don't, parents might start protesting and prevent their children from entering future Gym Challenges, which will cause a ripple effect throughout Galar. And if a trainer Rose himself endorsed ends up getting himself killed by demanding preferential treatment, which Rose gave him, then that would just be adding fuel to a bonfire. People will demand Rose to step down as the League's Chairman, regardless of all the good he has done for Galar.
Rose is Galar's hero for several people, and some people want to see heroes fall. It's the same for Leon, with several people hoping to see the undefeated champion finally being defeated.
After our talk, Adam decides to host an improv barbecue with several tables, chairs, boxes containing plates, plastic tableware, plastic cups, chips, drinks, meats, sweets, and even a projector, projector screen, and grill spawns around Adam out of nowhere.
I still don't know how Adam does that. When I first saw it, I asked Gloria and Marnie about it, but they just shrugged and said they didn't know and weren't complaining. I can't blame them, as they benefited from Adam's strangeness. I did ask him, but he countered we could put a Pokemon like Wailord, a Pokemon that weighs almost nine hundred pounds, into a ball that can fit into our pockets and not feel the weight. He said he was using a storage system that runs on similar science. A part of me knows I should question why I never heard of such an invention, but it could simply be a prototype that Adam somehow managed to get his hands on. And again, it wasn't like Adam storing a bunch of stuff was harmful. Even the food he stores in it comes out fresh and even hot. Perhaps I'm jealous that I didn't have something like that while doing my Gym Challenge.
After spawning the barbecue supplies, Adam only took seconds to get everything set up. It isn't because Adam was fast but because he sent out a couple of Pokemon to help him move things along.
Who would have thought I would see a possible champion-level Espeon pouring ten drinks simultaneously with its psychic powers? Or see a Bisharp using its bladed arms, which looks like it could cut through most Rock-Type Pokemon, to cut lettuce and tomatoes. Pokemon working in the service industry isn't new; it is pretty typical, but seeing such a powerful Pokemon serving drinks makes one feel whiplash. It would be like seeing Leon's Charizard using his Flamethrower attack to cook marshmallows.
Before Adam even started cooking, people were gathering, most likely curious about what kind of Pokemon Adam had or what he was doing. They just stood there, watching Adam as he cooked while his Pokemon helped set up the tables. Even when Adam told them they were welcome to have a plate and not worry about paying, they still didn't move. The first one of the crowd to break the tension was a young man. I'm still unsure if he was hungry or wanted to break the tension. After he started eating, the rest of the crowd slowly began to join. The tension melted into what it is now, with people cracking jokes, telling stories, and enjoying the free entertainment Adam was providing.
The League officials even thanked Adam for hosting the barbecue, saying they would repay him for the cost of the food and drinks. I swear they were even crying when they were thanking him. At first, Adam said that they didn't need to do that. Still, after some arguing, Adam relented and agreed to have the League repay him on the condition that the League officials themselves have a plate, which they happily agreed to.
As I sipped my drink, my eyes wandered about the main attractions of Adam's barbecue. One was Adam's Pokemon, especially the foreign ones, seeing as a child Gym Challenger was screaming with glee as he rode on Garchomp's back or a small crowd of children watching Meowscarada perform magic tricks, such as replacing someone's burger with its fruit. The other was Adam's spoils from his journey from different regions.
"So these are gym badges from outside of Galar," Gloria said, her eyes sparking as she looked at the admittedly better badges. As much as I love Galar, I must admit that our badge designs have much to be desired. Sure, our badges combining and forming a medal is cool, but the image on said medal isn't the best. At least I can say our badges are better than Paldea's. Theirs are pretty simple. Though I will admit at first, I thought Paldea had eighteen gyms because Adam had eighteen badges until he explained that ten of them were by someone who gave them to him after helping them out with something.
"I can't believe there are so many gyms out there," Marnie mutters, holding a Kalos Badge. "However, it would seem that Galar is the only region with a Dark-Type Gym."
"Yeah. I haven't encountered a Dark-type Gym outside of Galar during my travels, but several Elite Four members specialize in the type. Karen from Johto, Sidney from Hoenn, and Grimsley from Unova." Adam said.
Marnie's chest seems to swell with pride at hearing her and her brother's preferred type used by three Elite Four members. Marnie returns the badge to the case, picking up one of the Z-Crystals. "So you will teach us how to use those Z-Moves?" Marnie asks.
"Yes. It might take some time for me to figure out a method, as you usually have to go through a trial to use a Z-Move; there isn't anything preventing it from being used outside of Alola, like how you can't Dynamax outside of Dynamax Dens and cities with a powerspot." Adam said, taking a break from cooking. Thankfully, some of the Gym Challengers worked in the food industry so they could handle the food demand. "However, I can't say if Galar's League will approve of you using Z-Moves or Mega Evolution during your Gym Battles."
"Knowing Leon, I'm confident he will push for allowing Marnie and Gloria to use them," I said, taking a bite of my sausage. "Leon is a battle freak. He will want it if you can make the battle more intense."
"I just hope we don't have to dance. I know if my brother saw me doing that dance Adam did, he would never let me hear the end of it." Marnie said, her cheeks becoming slightly red at the memory.
Yeah. If Z-Moves weren't as powerful as they seem, I would say the embarrassment isn't worth it.
"Still, some of these items are weird," Gloria said, picking up a stone crown. "What even is this thing?"
"A three-thousand-year-old crown I found in some ancient underwater ruins," Adam explains. "Some guy offered me three hundred thousand Pokedollars for it, but I wasn't hurting for money and decided to keep it."
Gloria gently sat the crown back down, her complexion slightly paler than it was a moment ago. Usually, most people wouldn't be showing off such rare and expensive items so freely; however, I doubt anyone here is stupid enough to try and steal from him after his battle with Bede, especially since the same Mimikyu from said battle is on the table, enjoying the mountain of sweets Adam give it after the battle.
"And what about these?" Irida asks, holding a blue glass flute. "The craftsmanship on these is excellent." Irida lightly blows into the flute, producing a high-pitched noise. "It's quite different from my Celestica Flute."
"I got them from Hoenn while heading to Fallarbor Town. I wanted them because of their effects, like how the Blue Flute wakes up sleeping Pokemon, but collecting all that ash to make them was a pain. Not only could I collect ash from tall grass, despite Route 113 being under a constant ash downpour, but I had to deal with wild Pokemon interrupting me while I gathered said ash. I did catch some cool Pokemon, and those Flutes, mainly the blue, red, and yellow ones, helped me during my journey through the region, but washing the taste of volcanic ash out of your mouth isn't fun." Adam chuckles.
"Yes. Volcanic ash can be quite troublesome to deal with. I can't tell you how many outfits Firespit Island cost me when visiting our Noble Pokemon. Not to mention dealing with the uncomfortable feeling of ash clinging to your skin and hair." Irida complains, nodding.
"Or how the ash would get in your eyes and nose, as well the heat making your throat dry and sweat, causing the ash to stick all over." Adam nods.
"Thank goodness we don't have to deal with volcanoes here in Galar." Gloria sighs after hearing the two foreigners complaining. "Though, you have some much cool stuff, Adam."
"There is some weird stuff. Why keep a pouch full of ash? Or feathers?" Marnie said, holding up a golden satchel and two feathers, one a beautiful rainbow color while the other had a stunning silver shine.
"Oh. I got those from Johto. Those feathers are actually from Ho-Oh and Lugia, legendary Pokemon in Johto. And the ash is believed to be from Ho-Oh itself." Adam said casually, Marnie becoming pale as I spit out my drink. I doubt Marnie knows about those two Pokemon, but considering she is a trainer, she knows the term Legendary Pokemon isn't something one throws around casually, and Adam doesn't seem to be the type to lie.
"Please tell me you didn't encounter them," I said after calming my choking fit.
Adam only gives me a sly smile in response. "I will leave that to your imagination."
This guy has encountered Legendary Pokemon. His tone makes that clear. And knowing Adam at this point, I doubt he crossed paths with just one. So many questions stormed in my mind, but I knew I would have ten more questions for every one answered.
Deciding that the answers to my questions weren't worth the cost of my sanity, I picked up another item from the table, silently hoping that it wasn't related to some mythical Pokemon. It shouldn't because it was a mask, after all.
"And what is the story behind this?" I ask, holding the gray mask. I'm no artisan, but I can tell these were mastery-crafted and possibly worth a lot of money, considering the large jewels embedded in the masks. The jewels in this mask weren't as large as the red and blue masks.
"I got those from Kitakami, and those masks certainly have quite the story tied to them," Adam answers, with his voice taking a somber tone.
"Kaitkami? Is that another region? Or is it a town?" Gloria asks, picking up the blue mask and putting it on.
"I'm not sure how to describe it. I would say it is similar to Orre. It is possibly near enough to Paldea since you can find several Pokemon from its region in Kitakami. However, it could just be like Orre, and people from outside brought those Pokemon there. But enough about that, when I arrived in Kitakami, it was having its yearly festival, the Festival of Masks, where the people of Mossui Town were giving their thanks to the Loyal Trio, a group of Pokemon who supposedly protected the town back when it was a village from a violent ogre during ancient times. However, the Loyal Trio met their fates at the end of their fight against the ogre. So, the villagers buried the Pokemon and enshrined the masks they had."
"Oh! Then the Loyal Trio are the heroes, and the Ogre is the bad guy!" Gloria exclaims.
"If that were the case, Adam wouldn't have said supposedly." Marnie counters, having caught on that little detail.
That's true. Plus, I doubt anything involving Adam's adventures would be so cut and dry.
"Indeed. That was the belief of the villagers and their descendants for several generations, but the real story is quite different and sad." Adam's expression softens. "The real story begins with a traveler and his Pokemon, who came to Kitakami with nothing but the clothes on their backs, some traveling supplies, and some gems. However, the villagers didn't allow them to live in their village because of their foreign appearance, forcing the man and his Pokemon to live in caves and survive off the land. But despite the hardships, the two were happy. And it wasn't like all of the villagers followed the same mindset. One villager, a mask-maker, pitied them, so he made the two four masks using some of the gems the man brought with him when he first came to Kitakami. Those masks were the Teal Mask, the Cornerstone Mask, the Hearthflame Mask, and the Wellspring Mask. Thanks to those masks, the two could hide their faces and join the villagers for one night of the year, the Festival of Masks." Adam said before sighing, and his face took a more somber look.
"However, the masks were too beautiful, so much so that word about them spread outside of Kitakami and into the ears of an elderly couple who use a Pokemon that could produce a unique poison, which upon ingestion binds people to its control and was the leader of three particular Pokemon."
The mention of three Pokemon caught our attention, and we quickly realized who those three Pokemon were.
The Loyal Trio.
"The couple ordered the Pokemon to get the masks for them. The four Pokemon eventually arrived at the cave where the man and his Pokemon lived, hoping to steal the masks without much trouble. However, while the masks were there, so was the man, having come back when neither side expected it. So, the four tried taking the masks by force, but the man fought back. Sadly, he was only to protect one mask, the Teal Mask."
The one mask that wasn't among the set before them.
"After that, the four Pokemon fled the cave, taking the three masks in tow, and I doubt I need to explain what happened to the man, especially since he went against four Poison-Type Pokemon." Adam lets his words hang, with us knowing what happened to the man.
"And you can guess, the man's Pokemon was pissed when it returned."
That's- that's horrible. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to arrive back home to a scene like that. That man was probably the only friend besides the mask-maker it had. I could only envision the heartbreak at what the poor thing felt at that time.
"So, seeking both revenge and to reclaim its stolen masks, the Pokemon hunted down the four, finding them gloating over their stolen goods. Unsurprisingly, a battle had broken out, and despite being four against one, the Ogre managed to take down three of them while launching the trio's leader into a forest, with it being so afraid that it hid within its shell. However, as the battle ended, the villagers only saw the ending, and seeing the Orge's power and the damage it had caused, the villagers concluded that the Ogre was planning to attack the village and that the three fallen Pokemon had given up their lives to protect the village. After that, seeing the heavily injured Ogre, the villagers chased it away and buried the three Pokemon. They enshrined the masks, and proclaimed the three as the Loyal Trio, naming the place they were buried as the Loyal Trio Park, or Loyal Plaza nowadays. The mask-maker tried to tell the other villagers the truth; however, the villagers called the man a heretic and possibly threatened to exile him if he dared to continue slandering the Loyal Trio's name. So, the only people who know the truth are the mask-maker, his descendants, and me." Adam finishes.
The table had mixed reactions to Adam's story: Gloria had small tears welling up in her eyes, Marnie's expression showed that she was angry, a sentiment that I feel similarly, and Irida's was more somber, appearing as if she was deeply thinking about something.
Then, something clicked in my mind.
"Wait. Then how did you get the masks?" I asked. We now know the history of the masks, but we don't know anything about how Adam managed to get his hands on them.
"It's a long story, but the abridged version is one of the mask-maker's descendants, who deeply loved the Ogre, preferring it over the Loyal Trio even before knowing the true story, and you can imagine his reaction. Upon hearing how the Trio stole the masks, the young boy stole them from the shrine, hoping to return them to the Ogre, but he could never find them. While he was doing this, the villagers realized that the masks had been stolen and made a search party trying to find them. However, the boy's grandfather knew that the culprit was his grandson. That is where I came in; the grandfather, hearing about how I'm a traveling trainer, asked me to find his grandson and get the masks back before other villagers saw him."
Adam crossed his arms and tilted his head with an eye closed.
"Through the power of luck and a bit of info from his grandfather, I found the kid at Oni Mountain. At first, the kid refuses to listen to reason, leading us to have a Pokemon Battle; after beating him, his grandfather managed to reach us; my guess is he was using me to slow down his grandson enough for him to catch up, and asked why he stole the masks, knowing how much trouble he would be in if he gets caught. He confessed that he could no longer stand how the village insulted the Ogre, the real victim of the tale, and worshiped the Loyal Trio, the true villains of this story. In hoping to make amends, he wanted to return the masks to their proper owner, but he couldn't find the Ogre. The grandfather, understanding his grandson's love for the Ogre, tells him what he is doing isn't right."
He walks towards Gloria, tapping on the mask she's wearing.
"In the end, the three of us made up a story about a group of Pokemon stealing the masks because they were attracted to the shining gems of the masks, while the two asked me to find the Ogre and return the masks to the grandson's stand. I wanted to refuse the request because I doubted the Ogre would still be alive, considering how long ago that night was, but I couldn't bring myself to shatter the grandson's hopes. So I agreed. Even traveled around the whole island to try and find the Ogre, but came up with nothing. Since then, I have been holding onto those masks." Adam said, finishing his story.
"Now I see why you said these masks have quite the story behind them, and it's quite sad," I said, rubbing my finger along the gray mask's features. Moments ago, this mask was nothing more than a beautiful gray mask made with gem eyes and a massive smile, but now that I have learned its history, it looks completely different—a mask with a false smile.
It's the same for the red, angry mask and the blue, crying mask. The weight they hold is entirely different than before. What looks like a treasure has now suddenly become a terrible burden.
The world of Pokemon has varying lifespans. Some live on for centuries while others barely reach a fifth of that before passing. Sure those that are titled Legendary are immortal, but considering that to this day we are still learning of new types, who knows whether or not it's still alive.
"I do hope the Ogre is still alive. The idea of it passing, never getting back its masks for its owner is just too cruel. It didn't deserve being framed as the villain of its story" Gloria said, hugging the mask she held, as if hoping it would cheer up the spirit of the Ogre.
"While I agree with Adam that the chances of the Ogre being alive are incredibly slim, it would be nice if we could return these masks to their real owner," Marnie adds, taking a forlorn look and glancing over the masks.
"But does anyone even know what the Ogre looks like? I doubt the villagers of Kitakami, outside the mask-maker's family, would draw the Ogre without making it more monstrous." Irida points out.
"Knowing Adam, I bet he could point out the Ogre with no problem." Gloria grins, with the rest of us nodding. What Adam does defies common sense, so it might be correct to assume Adam could identify an ancient Pokemon.
"Come on, guys. You are laying on the pressure a bit thic-" Adam stopped talking.
However, before I could ask Adam if anything was wrong, Adam chucks a Pokeball from his hand.
"Carbink! Protect!" Adam commands the tiny rock Pokemon, forming a green, transparent barrier just in time for several heavy slams to pound it with a thick, spiked-covered club.
"W-W-What is going on?!" Gloria yells, her voice filled with panic. "What is that thing?!"
I could hear the people around us making a commission, but I was too busy focusing on our attacker to pay them attention. Or rather, what was on our attacker's face.
A beautiful green smiling mask.
"The Ogre," I mutter out of shock. Gloria, Marnie, and Irida's eyes widened, and they realized that our mask-wearing attacker was the Ogre we were just talking about.
Oh of course it was. Why not? Adam is a magnet for the unexpected, so why wouldn't the subject of the story decide to randomly pop out of nowhere before them.
"The Ogre?! But why is it here?! Shouldn't it be in Kitakami or Paldea?!" Marnie pulls out a Pokeball. Marnie is a good trainer, and her Pokemon are stronger compared to most people's, but I don't think her Pokemon would stand a chance against this green, mask-wearing, club-wielding, angry Pokemon.
"Marnie. Gloria. Irida." Adam spoke up, getting up from his seat. "There will be times when you encounter Pokemon stronger than yours. There will also be times when no matter how many battles you fight, there will always be more, no matter how battered yours become. The wild doesn't care about your health, it can be vicious when you least expect it. During those situations, the lives of you and your Pokemon are at risk; therefore, you might have to use a special strategy that all great trainers know. A sure-fire way to survive when your back is against the wall when facing a powerful Pokemon." Adam said, his voice firm and serious.
"A special…"
"Strategy," Gloria mutters, with Marnie finishing their sentence.
"And that strategy is… To run away!" Adam yells, fleeing the table.
Adam's action took me aback, and for a moment, I started to believe that I had misjudged him. However, while Adam was fleeing, I noticed he was holding something over his head, waving it around, and drawing everyone's attention - especially the Ogre's.
Adam was waving around the masks. When did- oh crap, Gloria and I must've dropped them in the scuffle and he had one of his Pokemon pick them up.
The Ogre unleashes an angry scream, jumping off the barrier from Carbink's Protect, and chases after Adam, with Carbink close behind it.
"What is Adam doing?!" Marnie yells, her voice mixing anger, shock, and disbelief. Perhaps she didn't notice Adam waving around the three masks.
"Adam isn't running away! He is luring the Ogre away!" I explained, the three girls' eyes widening. Gloria ran where Adam and the Ogre went when the words left my mouth.
"Gloria!" I cried out, breaking out in a run myself, hearing two sets of feet running behind me.
{Adam's P.O.V.}
I guess Ogerpon was behind the mine problem. I wonder what drew her out from the mine caves. Was it the smell of food, or did she mistake the barbecue for a festival? I'm not going to question why Ogerpon is here in Galar instead of Kitakami because I know the answer, partially thanks to Irida's presence.
This Ogerpon isn't the Ogerpon from Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Teal Mask. She is the Ogerpon who just finished her fight against the Loyal Trio and Pecharunt. The injuries made that clear.
Still, hearing the cinnamon roll known as Ogerpon chasing me, screaming bloody murder while feeling her, honestly justified, anger targeted at me is pretty scary.
Thankfully, my best tank is protecting me.
When Ogerpon tried attacking me with a vine attack, Carbink appeared, firing a quick protect.
Sure, there are better Pokemon for the tank position, but this Carbink tanked three attacks from Ultra Necrozma when I did a blind Pokemon Ultra Moon nuzlocke. Yes. Part of that was because of the game series friendship mechanic, and I did use Toxic and sacrificed two Pokemon, but this little guy saved my runs more times than I could count.
So, right now, Ogerpon and I are having our own Tom & Jerry, with Carbink protecting me whenever one of Ogerpon's attacks hits a little too close for comfort.
I need to make as much distance as possible between Ogerpon and me from the rest of the crowd, both for their safety and Ogerpon's. While I might not be in much danger thanks to my Pokemon, I can't say the same for the other trainers back at the barbecue. Many of them probably have Pokemon in their low to mid-teens, so they wouldn't be able to protect against Ogerpon's wrath. But Ogerpon isn't at peak health either; the red splotch all over her body proves it. So, if all or most of the Gym Challengers overwhelm Ogerpon with sheer numbers, then Ogerpon would be in trouble.
"This should be far enough," I mumble to myself. "Carbink! Moonblast!"
The tiny Jewel Pokemon fired a sphere of purplish energy, knocking Ogerpon back. However, Carbink isn't much of an attacker. Ogerpon wasn't hurt by the attack too much, but I could feel her glare at me intensify behind her smiling mask.
Ogrepon was about to charge at me again but stopped when she saw me placing down the three masks and stepping away from them.
"I don't want to fight you. I understand your anger and pain, but it doesn't mean you can use it to go on a rampage. Don't allow the words of those villagers to twist you into something that you aren't. The three Pokemon that stole your masks are dead. Their leader is terrified of you. And now, you have your masks back. The pain you are feeling will never go away, but only you can truly move forward." I told the Pokemon. I know Ogrepon can understand what I'm saying to a degree, as she has shown higher levels of intelligence than most Pokemon. "Just like me, you are no longer in the world you once knew. So, take time to heal from your grief and explore the world. See new lands, make new friends, and live a life you and your friend would have been proud of."
I can't tell if my words reached Ogrepon, but her bloodlust towards me has faded, and she has lowered her club. Ogrepon walks over to the lay-down masks, picks them up, looks at both the front and back sides, and probably checks to see if they are real or for any damages. After seeing the masks were in perfect condition, as if on purpose, Ogerpon's Teal Mask had fallen off, revealing the dried blood on her face, her welling tears, and a small, relieved smile.
Ogerpon realized that her mask was no longer on her face but didn't seem to mind that much. She simply put the Teal Mask back on while pocketing the other three masks. I'm unsure how she does that, but I have no right to comment, considering how I stored an entire RV in another dimension.
However, just as Ogerpon was about to leave, to the mines or somewhere, I'm not sure, Ogerpon collapsed onto the ground.
I rushed over and examined the fallen Pokemon. While I'm no Pokemon vet, I can make an educated guess that Ogerpon's fainting is due to the physical and emotional stress she has been experiencing. Everything in her eyes happened within the blink of an eye. Her battle against the Loyal Trio and Pecharunt, how she in the future and a new foreign land, finding someone else with her stolen masks, and finally reclaiming said masks. Everything is catching up now that the adrenaline is gone and it must've taken a toll on her. It's no wonder she fainted. She basically fought for her life and only now did she let go of all that rage.
Gently picking up the resting Pokemon and summoning the RV, I begin tending to Ogerpon's many wounds.
{Gloria's P.O.V.}
"Have you found Adam yet?" I yell out.
"Not yet," Marnie replied.
"He isn't over here," Irida yells back.
"I haven't found anything either!" Sonia yells. "How can a guy wearing a suit be so fast?"
"Probably because a Pokemon was chasing him out for his blood," Marnie answers, looking through some bushes. None of them had blood on the leaves so they took off in a different direction.
"It doesn't matter why Adam can run fast! We need to find him and help!" I said. I'm starting to wish that I had a flying Pokemon right about now.
"Help him with what? I doubt we would be any help against that thing. We are more likely to get in his way than help him." Marnie argues, approaching me.
"Maybe that's true, but we should at least be there to help him if possible!" I yell at Marnie, who takes a step back.
"Gloria. I understand you are concerned about Adam, but sometimes, the best way to help someone is to do nothing." Sonia said, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"I know. But I can't stand the idea of standing around and doing nothing." I said, looking at the ground. Adam isn't just a guy who teaches me about Pokemon. Sure he cooks tasty food, and lets me sleep in his RV, but that's irrelevant.
Adam is my friend, and I've always believed that you should help your friends.
"I found something!" Irida yells, snapping me out of my downcast mood. Marnie, Sonia, and I run towards Irida, seeing her pointing at the RV.
The four of us barged into the RV, seeing Adam sitting down, a first-aid kit opened right next to him on the ground, and a sleeping Pokemon on the bed.
"Sup." Adam casually said before returning to tending the Pokemon's injuries, making Marnie and Sonia sigh in frustration. Irida shook her head side-to-side but her lips were in a small smile, and me letting out an exasperated giggle. To think that I was worried about him moments ago, only to now see it as silly.
Yup. That's Adam for you.
