One of my biggest faults with these Flash/Arrow stories is that I never make a Superhero. I make a person, or I try too... So I am fixing that.

I am thinking of pairings, I rarely do those... thoughts?
Three Years Before Barry Gets his powers- HUB CITY
When Mason Campbell left his family home three days priors, all he took with him was one thing. A book on his grandma had used for inspiration when writing her attempts at poetry and novels. The book was all about magic, in Latin with Grandma's translations on the side. He cherished that book, and studied it day in and out. He was determined to drink it all in, since Magic had been his obsession for the last thirteen years, since he was four. Largely because of his grandma's stories actually.
Magic was, by it's nature, all about disposition Mason learned. If you could not focus, could not keep your mind clear or with the right emotion, you could cast nothing. Do nothing, use no magic. His book spoke of many things, and that was one of them. It also spoke of being careful to not overly expend magic, as that can be fatal or worse. There were many, many warnings.
The first spell in the book, and the first he cast, was called the Lure of Knowledge. Effectively, it was a spell that would allow one to find a source of knowledge. Apparently, it was designed for those that needed more tutelage or were finished in their studies of the the craft and needed more education. Power lead to knowledge that lead to more power. Rowan, wanting to be a great sorcerer, cast it immediately as he knew that to be a true master, he needed an actual mentor.
Holding his hand out, he uttered the Latin incantation. One the called upon Spirits of Clarity, to find what the seeker wished for.
"O Spiritus claritatis, Duc me ad maiora quaerens scientiae."
He must have done something very right, for something that felt like a magnet pulled on his chest and he ran off in that direction. Hub city was large, but the pull on his chest made swift work of making his way around. He had only been in the city for a few days, running away from his foster parents this felt like a smart way to evade them, so he really didn't know his way around.
Mile after mile, he followed the Spirits' tugging, until he actually ran into someone. "Oh, I am so sorry." he called out, looking at woman that had thankfully not fallen. She was pretty, gorgeous actually, wearing a tight red dress. Her skin was warm and olive, and she just radiated warmth.
She waved him off, smiling. "No, neither of us were paying attention. Both lost in the Spirit's call, I presume." She laughed at his gaping. "I am Esrin Fortuna, a Shaman, child. I felt your calling on the Spirits for aid, and was curious so I asked them to lead you to me. There are many magic users in the world, it really is just luck that you ran into me."
"So, are you my mentor?"
"Would you like me to be?" He nodded, feeling oddly meek. "Then so be it. The spirits deemed you worthy enough to aid, so I will give you a chance. But you are homeless, no? Hmm, that won't do. We will get you clothes and a shower, and some food. You deserve more than to wallow in filth."
And so he followed her, into her black car, off to who knew where, hoping beyond hope to find his path as a mage.
Only after showering in her home, pigging out at her dinner table, did he realize how foolish he was to just jump into a stranger's care. Still, it was too late and that... shoudl have scared him far more than it did.
