Episode 17: Visitor from the Delta Quadrant.
Captain's log: Stardate 58419.1 - The Shadow War continues . . . The Exotian androids have rebelled, causing a Civil War amongst their civilization. The 'salt vampires' of M-113 have also descended into Civil War. I can't help thinking that the Shadows are somehow responsible. On Visalayan, the Borg and Vulcan armies continue to aid the Medeusans in their fight for their home world against the Skrrr invasion.
"A vessel has appeared on sensors, coming out of warp" reported the Vulcan Chief Science and First Officer Stonn.
"On screen," commanded Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace. "Magnify."
"I've never seen anything like it!" Said the Tarquinian Helmsman, Lieutenant Klelia.
"It appears to be a small scouting craft, approximately twice the size of one of our raptors," reported Stonn. "Based on it's lack of appearance on our sensors before it came out of warp, it may have a propulsion that is similar to our jump drives but unknown to us.
"Captain, the ship appears to have extensive battle damage," reported the Security Chief, Lieutenant Zoe Kalvan, who was a Cylon Centurion.
"Open hailing frequencies," command Starbuck. "This is Captain Kara Thrace of the Federation Starship, Enterprise. You ship appears damaged May we offer assistance?"
"There is no answer," reported the Communications officer, both aloud and telepathically. Lieutenant 1 of 20 had been a Talosian before she joined the Borg.
"All right. We'll send a landing party consisting of myself, Mister Stonn, Doctor Leptus and Lieutenant Kalven. Mister Klelia, you have the Con," announced Starbuck, as 1 of 20 told the ship's Chief Medical Officer to meet them in the transporter room.
The four members of the landing party appeared in the cabin of the damaged ship. It had an alien appearance to it's layout and everything was set up for a larger species than any of them. The pilot was slumped over the controls of the ship, unconscious. It was a large being that would have been 3 meters tall when standing. It had four limbs, but a definitely unhumanoid shaped head. While most of it's body was covered in clothing, it's skin had scales, like a snake. Doctor Leptus scanned the creature.
"Starbuck, I think we need to bring him over to our ship in order to give him proper treatment," explained Doctor Leptus.
"I can lift him," offered Lieutenant Kalven, as she used her Cylon Centurion mechanical strength to lift the alien pilot out of the seat.
Starbuck flipped open her communicator and called the ship: "Enterprise, five to beam up."
Later, while the doctor was treating his patient Lieutenant Kalven and a couple of more security personnel were guarding the sickbay, while the Med staff worked on their alien patient. Captain Thrace and Commander Stonn had also come here as the patient was expected to awaken soon.
"The ship appears to have been hit with multiple anti-proton beams," reported Lieutenant Kalven.
"Shadows?" Asked Starbuck.
"It would seem so," agreed Stonn.
"He seems to be some sort of hybrid between reptile and bird," reported Doctor Leptus.
"Voth . . . my people are called the Voth," explained the alien, who had just awakened. The Universal Translator appeared to be working. "My name is Galuq."
"I'm Captain Kara Thrace, this is my Science Officer, Mister Stonn, and Doctor Leptus, who led the effort to heal you."
"Captain I must warn you!" Exclaimed Galuq. "My people live on the other side of the galaxy. Every few thousand years, were are attacked by a species we call the Shadows! I fear they will soon come for you!"
"We have already met the Shadows and are currently at war with them," admitted Starbuck. "They seem to be allying with others to help them attack us. You came a long way to warn us. How did you manage it?"
"My ship is equipped with a transwarp drive," explained Gulaq. "Traveling to your part of the galaxy was a simple matter."
"We have a saying: the enemy of my enemy is my friend," said Starbuck. "Perhaps we could form an alliance?"
"It appears humans and Voth have more in common than their enemy," piped up the EMH Doctor that had been aiding Doctor Leptus. "I took the liberty of analyzing mister Gulaq's DNA. Apparently the Voth and humans has common ancestor around 300 million years ago."
"THAT'S ENOUGH DOCTOR!" Shouted Doctor Leptus, before flipping the switch on his mobile emitter to turn the EMH off.
No! . . .NO! I DON"T BELIEVE IN THE DISTANT ORIGIN THEORY! MY PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN OUR PART OF THE GALAXY!" Screamed Gulaq, before he dissolved in a transporter he had sereptisiously activated.
(Captain, the alien ship has gone to warp and disapeared!) 1 of 20 telepathically reported.
Captain's log: Stardate 58419.8 - The Voth ship has left us, presumably to return to their part of the galaxy. Our sensors detected them going faster than Warp 9 before they disapeared. Commander Stonn theorized that their trans-Warp techology allows them to travel at infinite speed and instantly appear at their desti-
"Captain, we are receiving a distress call from the Metron Homeworld!" Interupted 1 of 20. "The Shadows are attacking the Metrons!"
Note: The most interesting species on Voyager only appeared in one episode. The boring ones (like the Kazon) showed up over and over.
