Warning!: Slight darker than normal chapters

Jao looked at Barriss before giving her a tight squeeze from the embrace before letting go, "See ya on the flipside Bariiii…!" giving her a two finger salute before jogging up to go inside a tunnel.

He'd given Barriss a salute and smile as he jogged off towards a tunnel. Ilum was an icy cold planet so the mix of hidden anxiety and weather made it feel tenfold more than it was. He heard stories from his friends about how the caves of Ilum knew your fears and would test you. Although you never knew when the cave was testing you or when something was actually happening.

The icy walls and rock of the tunnels glistened as the soft echoing of Jao's footsteps were the only thing keeping him company. Looking to his right, he'd peer into the ice that reflected his image back at him. Tapping the ice, an unnatural echo would permeate around him as he looked down the dark, damp tunnel. When he turned to look back at his image, Barriss would be right behind him with her eyes shut which caused him to jump back in surprise. Turning around quickly, he'd notice that she was gone and that the icy, damp tunnels of Ilum had been replaced with the metallic, cold hallways of a star destroyer or what he'd thought one would look like.

Jao would start to feel alarmed at the sudden drastic change of atmosphere as the icy cold was no longer felt. The cold, lifeless interior of a star destroyed replacing it. The gray metallic walls felt daunting and oppressive to the 13 year old boy's mind. In front and behind him were a set of sliding airlock doors that whenever he got near, opened to another small hallway with the same set of sliding airlock doors. An auditory hum of droning lights and creaks were the only sounds to keep the youngling company as he decided to walk forward with trepidation.

Phewwwwww ca chunk.

This was the repetitive sound that was being echoed as his footfalls kept advancing through each door, each revealing the same repeating patterns.

After the tenth or eleventh set of airlocks, Jao would get frustrated and shout, "HELLOOOOO! ANYONE HEREEEEE!"

Here… Here… Here… Here… Here…

The unnatural repetition of his voice made his skin utterly crawl as he felt goosebumps. Shivering and crossing his arms to rub his shoulders, Jao would start to feel a cold… no… an emotion in the air that was so oppressive that it caused him to catch his breath more than once. That emotion was none other than Hatred.

"It's… so cold…"

Cold… cold… cold… cold… cold… cold..

As he made his way further and further down, conviction to continue seemingly overwhelming his fear for now, Jao felt the emotion getting stronger and stronger until…

"Jaaaaooooooo…"

Beum…..

The sound of a lightsaber ignition reverberated throughout the walls behind him as the vicious hums of a lightsaber replaced the reverb of its ignition. His face drew into one of complete fear as he stopped dead in his tracks and felt the familiar bonds of two people behind him. One was a bond that he'd recognize like light and day; it was Barriss. The other was a bond that he'd never thought he'd feel again; it was none other than Desmond Ferrix.

"Jaaaaaooooo…"

The voice was gargled and pitched so high that its mere sound was bone-chilling to hear. Slowly turning around, he'd see the visage of Desmond Ferrix but something was VERY wrong about it: Half of his body was nothing but pitch corrupting black and a glowing red eye replaced it's normal blue one. Black robes covered the normal half of his body as he held his red lightsaber up to Barriss's throat.

"You've FUCKED with me for the last time. LOOK!" The voice was screeching and so grating that Jao had to slightly winch.

"WAIT NO!"

Her head… her head was rolling on the floor as her body quickly crumpled to the ground. The pain, the excruciating pain of the bond being cut from him caused Jao to fall onto one knee as he held his heart.

"He… HE KILLED HER!"

A newfound hatred and anger boiled deep inside his bones as he felt something new appear in his hands: it was a lightsaber.

Standing up slowly and igniting the blade, his brow deepened as he bared his teeth in complete rage. He didn't care about being a Jedi here. He had complete murder on his mind and his soul wanted revenge.

Charging at Desmond, he would clash blades with the monster as Desmond cackled, "AHAHAHAHAHA SHE'S WEAK LIKE YOU JAO! YOUR ANGER! USE IT! GET YOUR REVENGE!"

Screaming, he'd pull back before charging up another heavy blow to his blade and then taking another swing. This caused Desmond to giggle in delight as he countered each move with ease and used the force to push Jao back. Jao would steady himself in the force so he wouldn't be sent flying before propelling himself at Desmond with another fervorous barrage of strikes against the wicked and corrupted Desmond Ferrix.

Clashing blades and locking them, Desmond taunted, "OHOHOHO! YOU CAN'T SAVE HER JAO. YOU CAN'T SAVE ANYONE! YOU'LL FUCKING KILL HER AND EVERYONE YOU LOVE!"

Jao dug deeper and deeper into his hatred as he screamed loudly as he stepped back and outstretched his hand as a cruel, sickening red lightning erupted from his hand which seemingly caught Desmond off guard. Jumping back to dodge the attack, Desmond smiled before saying, " Gooooood…. Goooood… keep fighting like this Jao… you'll never be a Jedi like this."

Jao propelling himself once more at Desmond, struck high then low at him which Desmond countered easily before he'd strike high and get into another bladelock with the vindictive man. Jao couldn't find an easy and meaningful way to end his pitiful life but came up with an idea as he quickly deactivated his lightsaber, sidestepped his blade before pinning him against a wall and reigniting it in his gut.

"HOW'S THAT YOU PIECE OF CRAP! YOU'LL NEVER HURT ANYONE AGAIN!"

His reveling in his victory would be short lived as he heard words from a VERY familiar voice.

"J-JR…?"

A horrified look of realization dawned on him as he took a step back and realized that the person he stabbed wasn't Desmond but Barriss herself. He found himself speechless as he couldn't find the words to rationalize the crime he had just committed except for the realization that his saber was crimson red.

"B-B-Barriss… B-B-But…"

Tears welled in her eyes as she managed to get out one sentence, "You're… n-not… J-JR… M-Monster…" before collapsing dead onto the ground.

Running to cradle her lifeless body, he'd sob greatly as he cried out, "B-B-Bariss… I-I-I'm s-s-so sorry…. I… I…"

Clutching her body close now, her body would slowly crumble away as the same high pitched laughter echoed behind, "LOOKIE LOOKIE! JAO REN PAUL JUST KILLED ME!"

Slowly looking up to face Desmond with bloodshot eyes and a strained face, he'd see not Desmond but something more terrifying: It was Barriss but she had a saber wound in her gut.

His kneeling, pathetic form was currently looking up as she ignited a blue blade as she mocked, "You killed me, Jao. That's all our relationship will do." screaming, "IT WILL KILL ME!"

The blue blade contrasted to her eye sockets which were filled with a menacing glowing orange light mocked at him. How could such a beautiful weapon of the Jedi look so cruel in the wrong hands.

"I-I… I am sorry Barriss…" sobs, "I know I haven't been the greatest of influences… but-.. But I promise I'd never hurt-"

"SILENCE! THAT'S WHY I STAND HERE WITH A SABER WOUND IN MY GUT, HYPOCRITE!"

Jao would find himself speechless as she slowly approached closer, "You're the reason I'll die. I'll die by your hands!"

The pure hatred and vitorial spewing forth from Barriss's mouth was overwhelming for him as he felt his mind invaded with bad emotions and thoughts.

"B-But.. Desmond he-"

"NO! YOU KILLED ME TWICE!"

"I didn't kill you the 1st time that w-...!" Then realization suddenly dawned on him: He had killed Barriss. The dark side, the emotions of anger he had hidden away for Desmond and him almost ruining his chances to become a Jedi would kill Barriss. That Desmond he saw… It wasn't Desmond…

That was himself.

Bowing his head lower and closing his eyes, he needed to let go of his emotion because his inability to control his emotions was going to deter him forever unless he figured it out now. An idea then struck him as he felt through the force as he found the bond that he thought was Barriss wasn't there but replaced with the true bond of Barriss. He felt the kindness, the snarkiness, the platonic love, the utter closeness of it and he felt it surge through him. The pure light side of Barriss Offee's aura was almost euphoric for him as he felt himself calming. His relationships wouldn't deter him, no, they were a source of power for the Force and he'd use it to fuel himself to do its will. He saw what the force was trying to show him.

Standing up slowly with a newfound resolve, he opened his eyes to face "Barriss."

Tossing the lightsaber aside, "You're wrong, me. My relationship with her won't cause me to fall." steadfast resolve in his eyes, "My inability to control it will! As long as I can control my emotions and follow the will of the Force, I will NEVER harm my friends, the Jedi Order or any innocent being!" shouting as his words reverberated.

"Barriss" stumbled back as a nasty snarl left her mouth, "WE'LL SEE ABOUT THAT!" before a guttural scream shouted as "Barriss" propelled herself forward in the force with her blade ready to kill Jao. Reaching his hands outwards, he'd be in total peace with himself as he prepared himself for a blade that never came. His eyes nor body flinched but his vision faded to black as he saw the icy caverns of Ilum once more.

Although something was different now. He didn't feel anxious, nervous or even angry anymore. He felt, for the first time since the Desmond incident, at peace with what had happened. The force had shown him what would happen to him if he'd continue to harbor such feelings and didn't let go. He couldn't continue training as a Jedi nor build his lightsaber until he confronted them and he won. He beat back the full pull to the darkside but deep down knew that he couldn't ever fully pull away. This was represented when Jao looked down in his hands and felt a small crystalline object in them: It was a Kyber Crystal but not just any Kyber Crystal as this one radiated a beautiful purple color.

The perfect balance of light and dark, good and evil, Light side and the Dark side. One could not coexist without the other because both must remain in perfect balance. The ability to pull from both and remain gray was a path that was destined for a very few as the challenge was nigh impossible but not completely. History had proven that even fewer could achieve perfect balance but it had destined Jao that path.

"I won't let you down… I promise…" he promised the cosmic entity as he clutched the kyber crystal and made his way back towards the center.

As Jao made his way back, he had noticed that he was the last one to arrive and that didn't go unnoticed by the other kids and Grand Master Yoda. The other kids crowded him quickly as Barriss stampeded right into him and gave him the tightest hug he had ever gotten. Although something was off about everyone's expressions: They were ones filled with relief, almost like they were worried about him.

"H-Hey… what's everyone so worried about? I was gone for like… a couple minutes." an awkward chuckle added.

Barriss, whose face was currently buried in his clothing, pulled it back to look at him, "NO! You have been gone for an entire rotation! An Entire ROTATION!"

Jao's face slightly paled as he thought it was a joke but would be confirmed when Master Yoda said, "Not lying, young Barriss is. Gone for an entire rotation, you… have been…" making his way closer as Barriss pulled away from the hug to give Master Yoda some room, "Worried about you, we were. Glad made it back, we are." Sensing something different about Jao, he'd ask, "Experienced a greater trial, you did. Calmer, more balanced… you are."

Jao Ren Paul nodded before saying, "Y-Yeah… and uhh.. I think Master Windu will find this interesting…" revealing the brilliant purple Kyber Crystal in his hands.

To say Grand Master Yoda was surprised would be an understatement; he was utterly shocked at the color. The purple kyber crystal was something a rare few obtained and the last was Mace Windu which was over decades ago now and before that, even longer.

"Interesting Revelation, this has brought. Meditate on it, I must now." looking out towards all the younglings, "Amazing job, you have all done. Go back to the temple, we must now."

A/N: That wraps up the Visions saga! Hope you enjoyed and found both chapters amazing! I didn't plan on having them be split but thought it would be better to have each of their journey's have separate chapters. I am officially and promise that there will be 3 more chapters now until the end of their youngling days and the prequel to the clones phase. I appreciate everyone who's stuck by me so far and have BIG things planned for the Pre-Clone Wars and Clone Wars arcs.

Hope you like the more disturbing and creepier aspects of Jao Journey. Thought it was a great representation to explain how he gets a purple kyber crystal.

Did Jao just do a VERY illegal saber trick? Yep, he did Trakata which was another great little detail I added to show that Jao, despite being a Jedi, isn't going to be entirely conventional.

As always hope you enjoyed the chapters and once again: Thank you so much to DS2010 for always leaving a review! It really lets me know y'all are enjoying it. Anyways, have a great rest of your day, everyone!
