Battlestar Galactica

Commander Adama's quarters

92 days after the destruction of the Colonies

Today was a good day.

Bill knew it when he got up in the morning, so before his watch begins, he decided to wrote down a few words for future generation in his memories.

It had been almost three months since Ragnar Station's events. The memory of that day was still fresh in my mind, not only I found out the President (and enemy) was alive but I got back my youngest son Zack and his wife. I walked out of Ragnar mess with few scratches and Leoben's body which we gave doctor Baltar(who was one of the survivals brought back in Adar's fleet) to examination. Our worst nightmares came true as Baltar confirmed that Leoben was a machine. Cylons looked like humans, they were humans, so everyone around us could be or work for the Cylons. People that Adar gather with his ship, joined to us; now I'm military commander of the Fleet with Adar as their President(frak me, his secretary is doing his job while he is staring at his portrait on the wall on Colonial One) but we somehow manage to survive. For the first weeks Cylons destroyed two of our ship. We lost almost thousand souls, some were missing, other badly injured and soon die; over a hundred on Galactica. We met two Cylon's models so far; Leoben and Doral, but their existence is a secrecy in the fleet to avoid panic.

He put pen aside when he looked at the clock, it was time for him to go to the CIC. Bill stood up and walked out the room, heading to command center. Cylons haven't show yesterday and the day before so if they lucky, today it's going to be another boring and peaceful day.

But it wasn't. Peaceful day my ass. He thought holding a phone head; speakers were loudly announcing setting condition one through the ship and the fleet, Vipers were in the air, few minutes away from the target, which showed up seconds earlier on the radar. Adama was about to fire the missiles, when Kara's voice peal.

"You are not going to believe what I'm seeing. It's like a dream…"

And she was right, it was like a dream, a dream that came true as the Pegasus' crew along with the actual Admiral Helena Cain walked out of the Raptor, which landed on Galactica's hangar deck few minutes ago. They exchanged salutes and right after that President Adar, who somehow was on the ship during Pegasus' incident, approached to the Raptor.

"So he is still the President?" Cain started looking at Adama."Funny thing we also have a President onboard. I believe there was some glitch in the emergency system that sent case orange, although Adar's alive and save. But now when the fleet is back together everything will change for the better. "

"Who?" Colonel Tigh asked.

"Her."

Adama looked in the same direction that Adar walked few minutes earlier and the same that Admiral Cain was pointing. The redhead woman in the Raptor. He stared at her, couldn't believe his eyes. I mean how could he, maybe mind was making him a joke. He left her on Caprica, soon after that, the Colonies were nuked and now she is standing in front of him, smiling. She was indeed very alive. She slowly walked out of the Raptor with the help of two soldiers, one of them was his older son, Lee.

"Commander Adama" Admiral Cain brought his attention on herself, when the crew was cheering and exchanging words with Pegasus' officers. "I believe we should talk in private."

"Of course, sir. Let me show you a way to my quarters." He glanced once again on the Raptor and saw Lee, but there was no sight of her. Disappointed he leaded Admiral Cain down the hallway. I will find her after the briefing. I promise you this Laura, we'll be together once again.

As soon as she saw him, her heart started beating faster and she could swear the baby had kicked in the same moment. She didn't feel like this since the Zack and Zoey's wedding. Happiness, pure happiness in her look when their eyes meet. Laura wanted to walk toward him, be once again in his arms, but she was large as a whale and leaving the Raptor without somebody's help was impossible for her. When she finally was on the deck by her own feet, Bill was long gone and instead of him, Richard Adar was holding her in his arms and telling how much he is enjoying their reunion. Of course he acted all professional and presidential, so it looked more like old friends and coworkers meeting after years, rather than lovers get together. Before Roslin said something, Richard took her hand and leaded her to the nearest ward room.

She wasn't happy it was Richard she had to talk to, not Bill. But Laura knew she will eventually has to speak to him. The sooner the better for her. They sat down at the long table, Richard gave Laura cold glass of water before she took her hand in his palms.

"Oh my darling. How are you feeling?"

"Shocked. I didn't think we will find you. After Cylon's attack Cain had to do everything to survive. It was tough but we somehow manage. I thank the Lords everyday that she listened to me and gave up the battle in order to survive."

"Cain listened to you, Laura?" he chuckled. She frowned.

"What is so funny, Richard. She didn't have a choice. We receive case orange. I was 43 in line and the only one who respond. She had to execute direct order from the President of the Twelve Colonies."

"I always knew you will get far. But as I am here Laura you will have to resign. I can offer you the Vice President's position..." he said when the door opened and Tory; Roslin former's aid and now Adar's; came in. She walked to the President and after exchanging greetings with Laura, she informed him it's time for the press conference. Richard looked at his ex lover. "I'm going to declare your Vice Presidency. You will be sworn in two days time, Laura."

Laura was walking through hallways of Galactica for the first time since she came here yesterday on the raptor from Pegasus with Admiral Cain and Lee. Yesterday it was only a short celebration of reuniting the two Battlestars on the hangar deck. She saw Bill but couldn't talk to him as he quickly disappear with Cain into the part of ship she wasn't allowed to go and beside she was drag away by Richard.

Richard Adar was alive. Laura still couldn't believe this is happening. At some level she was happy to see him and revile he took over the presidency she got by some crazy mathematics' mistake. The Vice Presidency, which he offered Laura was more than enough to her. But personally she was scared he was here; so close to her and the baby. What if he demand she abandon her little miracle and get back to his bed? What if he announce he's the father? What happened to her and Bill's relationship? So many question and so far no answers..

She walked through the main hallway, turned into another one, where as Lee told her, Bill Adama's quarters should be. She walked few meters and there it was, her destination's point, guarded by two marines; she came closer to them, but before she could say something, one of the marine stopped her.

"This is off limited area, ma'am. Civilians aren't allowed here."

"Gentleman do you know who I am?"

Laura gasped and took her glass of the nose and laid hands on her very swollen abdomen. She saw hesitation on their faces. No wonder why, after all she didn't look very presentable as for the former Secretary of Education. Laura was wearing black flat-shoes, tight jeans and white overblouse which was loosely covering her pregnant belly; her hair much longer than before the attacks, were pulled into ponytail.

"Well than, please inform Commander Adama, that Laura Roslin is here to see him and I will not walked away until I speak to him. Thank you."

One hour later Laura Rosiln was coursing in her thoughts. Stupid, stupid, stupid Laura. Very stupid idea. She stood in front of Bill's quarters like an idiot. Marines refused to call their boss, telling he wished not to be disturbed, and she of course had to be stubborn and wait for him to finish whatever he was doing behind this massive hatch. That was a mistake. Her back begin to hurt once again, feet had swollen and if it wasn't enough her baby demanded food. She had to look like hell, because one of the marines asked if she's feeling all right and offered to call a doctor, but she refused. Laura was too proud to admit she needs help.

"Well, well, well! Look who's here. Isn't it the great Secretary of Education?" she turned around and saw thin old man in the uniform. At first she didn't know who is he, but as soon as she saw Colonel's insignias she assumed this must be Colonel Tigh; Bill's best friend and EXO, she heard so much about.

"Colonel." Laura greeted him as marines saluted.

"What are you doing here, Madam Secretary. Or should I say Madam Vice President? I just heard on the radio that you've got the job."

"Yes, I will be sworn in the morning." she said.

Tight came closer to Laura; her body shivered but not from cold, nor the fear about herself. She didn't know him at all, but somehow she was sure he had a friendly attitude toward her, even if his body language said something very different. He gave her a shoulder to lean on, while he was glaring at the marines.

"Why the frak you still standing here, open the damn hatch and let her in."

"Sir, Commander Adama strictly ordered not to bother him until he said otherwise."

"Yhmm... This is our new Vice President. I'm sure he will be very happy to know you let her stand here and wait."

"Sir...yes, sir."

The marine walked to the keyboard panel and opened the hatch with the help of his security pass, then with the apologizing look in his eyes he let them through. Roslin touched his shoulder while passing the man and insure him that his career will be fine, before she disappeared behind the door of Adama's quarters. Tigh left her at the table on her own, while he walked further looking for his boss.
