Feeling left out, Inuyasha observes his siblings' playful interaction with a wistful smile. Eddie and Donovan, however, seem to have excluded him from their roughhousing. On the other side, he notices Kikyo, Kagome, Sango, and Miroku approaching. Turning around, he finds Sesshōmaru and Koga behind him, his older half-brother and his rival, respectively.
"Inuyasha?" Koga questions him with a surprised whisper, which is fair, as Inuyasha is in his human form and his hair short. Sesshōmaru's eyes give it away to Inuyasha. He feels Ichigo and Fireheart on each side of him.
"Hi," he greets him. Ichigo, his trusted friend, is slightly in front of him, and Fireheart, his loyal companion, is behind.
"What happened to you?" Sesshōmaru questions his brother, the tension between them almost tangible. The two have never had a strong relationship, but Inuyasha knows that his brother does care in his own way. Sesshōmaru is surprised by Inuyasha's condition, as he rarely shows vulnerability.
"I was..." Inuyasha's voice trails off, panic rising within him. He attempts to take a deep breath, but Koga's unexpected embrace catches him off guard. It's a simple gesture, yet it shatters the walls of his emotional fortress. A sob escapes him as he clings to the wolf demon.
"I...was...tortured," Inuyasha sobs out, and Koga holds him tighter. He sees two men coming close with worry. Sesshōmaru is about to step in when Inuyasha reaches for them. One of them comes closer and gathers Inuyasha into his arms. Gently holding the crying half-demon.
"What happened?" the man asks, and the two demons can hear the genuine concern in his tone.
"He was tortured? By who?" Koga questions the man, causing the man's eyes to widen. Sesshōmaru can see the pain in his eyes and the man nuzzling Inuyasha with comfort. The other man is equally shocked and rubs a comforting hand on Inuyasha.
"We were looking for Frottirmolr and Bhifienn to help Alec, but Jamikhaya got in our way. Inuyasha gave us some time to escape; however, Jamikhaya managed to hold him hostage and torture him. Inuyasha managed to get out to help us," Ichigo tells them. The man holding Inuyasha growls.
Both demons are surprised to see the human holding Inuyasha tighter while glaring at the other man. The other man shrugs.
"Where is this Jamikhaya?" Koga questions the boy. Ichigo blinks.
"Dead," The other man tells him. Sesshōmaru is surprised by these humans.
"Good," Koga answers.
"Eddie?" Inuyasha whispers. Both Sesshōmaru and Koga look at the younger half-demon. Eddie smiles sweetly at him.
"Koko ni iru yo, koinu'" Eddie tells him. The demons are weary of the humans.
("I'm here, pup,")
"Who are you, and how do you know Inuyasha?" Koga asks them.
"I'm Donovan Rocker, and this is Eddie Diaz. After Izayoi died, Inuyasha was cast out, and Eddie took him away. We managed to get him the help he needed, but we were forced to leave him in his world. If Eddie had it his way, Inuyasha would've come home with us," Donovan tells him. Koga smiles at how loving Eddie is to Inuyasha. The two are in conversation.
"What happens now?" Kagome asks now. She was horrified to hear what happened to her friend. Sango and Miroku stand beside Eddie and Inuyasha, listening to their conversation. The smile at how loving the older man is. Kilala enters Inuyasha's arms and purrs as Eddie scratches her head.
"The next steps are up to you. But remember, if you ever hurt Inuyasha, he has a family that will make you regret it," Donovan warns, his tone carrying a protective edge.
"Is that a threat?" Sesshōmaru questions, and Donovan looks at him squarely.
"It's a promise," Donovan tells him. Sesshōmaru and Koga see Eddie and Inuyasha getting up and smiling. Sango and Miroku are amused by the two. Kilala stays in her friend's arms. Kagome goes to Inuyasha, but he shakes his head. The two know they aren't meant to be together but are friends. The half-demon leans into Donovan, who smiles faintly.
"Otōsan, aishiteruyo' (I love you, Dad)," Inuyasha tells him.
"Watashi mo anata o aishite iru yo, koinu' ("I love you too, pup,") Donovan tells him. Donovan nuzzles Inuyasha and giggles and nuzzles back. Sesshōmaru watches the humans and how they treat Inuyasha. It relieves him that his younger brother has people who care for him, but it makes him wonder what else he never told his group in their world.
"Sesshōmaru," Inuyasha calls out to him. The older brother opens his free arm, and Inuyasha goes to his side—the two walk further away but within sight.
"How old are you, Inuyasha?" Sesshōmaru questions, causing Inuyasha to look at him.
"Human or demon?" He asks, causing Sesshōmaru to hum.
"One hundred and fifty-eight," He tells him.
"I want you to stay with me until maturity," Sesshōmaru tells him, causing Inuyasha to look at him.
"I want to stay with my friends," Inuyasha tells him, making Sesshōmaru think about it.
"I'll stay close by," Sesshōmaru tells him.
"Deal," Inuyasha agrees with him. They walk back to the group and see that they have disappeared. Inuyasha frowns, and Koga smiles at him.
"Eddie and Donovan told the group to let us talk," Sango tells them.
"What's going to happen now?" Koga questions the brothers.
"I'm going to travel with my friends until Naraku is defeated, and Sesshōmaru is staying close by," Inuyasha tells them.
"We can work with that," Sango says.
"Inuyasha," Koga says to him, causing the half-demon to smile.
"Not right now. I'm one hundred and fifty-eight," Inuyasha tells him, causing the wolf to whistle. The humans are confused by the number.
"Inuyasha is considered a baby in the demon world. When he is over two hundred years old, maturity kicks in," Sango tells the group. Inuyasha nods in agreement. Before the group returns to their world, Inuyasha sees Eddie and Donovan watching over them and runs to his dads. The group sees the three hugging and Eddie mothering him.
