Chapter 3-1: Forbidden to Be Late
After leaving the Hall of Records, Deuce and the others walk around the neighborhood.
"Where to next?" Deuce questions.
Soon, Dylla walks over, "How was the Hall of Records, everyone?"
Deuce becomes surprised, and asks, "Mom? Don't tell me you were waiting for us."
"No, no. I just left the apartment again myself. I was doing a little cooking," Dylla says, and presents a basket, "I figured since it's almost lunchtime, you'd want something to eat."
"You figured right!" Grim says, excited.
Dylla smiles, "That's what I like to hear!"
Then opens the basket to reveal some sandwiches, "Here you go—have an egg sandwich. Perfect meal for on the go."
"Myaha! Looks great!" Grim says, excited.
"You know you really didn't have to do this. But thanks, Mom," Deuce says, and gives his mom a smile.
"We should dig in as well," Silver says.
"Yeah, before Grim eats them all," Briar says.
Everyone then takes a half of a sandwich. Briar also makes sure to share a piece of hers with Trinket.
"What a great idea to use omelets as a sandwich filling!" Epel says.
Grim eats the sandwich and happily says, "Yum!"
"The omelet just melts in your mouth," Silver says.
"And it's so fluffy! It pairs great with this bread!" Epel says.
"It's really delicious!" Briar says.
"Yummy!" Sereia says.
Even Trinket agrees.
Tanzanite and Jasper continue eating with smiles on their faces.
"Glad to hear it. Have as many as you like," Dylla says.
"You're very good at cooking, Ms. Spade," Silver says.
"Oh, I don't know about that. I can only make a few things," Dylla replies.
"Really? But you make all kinds of things for me. Omelet rice, poached eggs, baked eggs…" Deuce says.
Dylla giggles, "Haha, I suppose. Since eggs are your favorite food, I've cooked with them so often they've kind of become a specialty of mine."
Grim continues waiting for them, "I could eat a ton of these. I was really hungry!"
Dylla turns to Ortho, "Aren't you going to eat, Ortho?"
"No. Unfortunately I require special optional parts in order to eat. But there are other ways to enjoy food. I can take a picture and store the data, for example," Ortho says.
Ortho then takes a picture of the sandwiches and then he says, "There. Now I can recall it from memory whenever I like."
Dylla is amazed, "Wow, that makes me feel kinda happy too. So what are you all going to do now?"
"I think first we'll go looking for an alarm clock for Silver. There are a lot of clock shops nearby," Deuce says.
"I'd like that, thanks," Silver replies.
"And there's lots of other shops as well, so everyone should be able to find souvenirs," Deuce says.
"Great!" Epel says.
"I can buy something for my brother!" Ortho says.
"In that case I'll go on ahead to the park. When you're ready to join the festivities, meet me at the White Rabbit Deliveries stall," Dylla says.
"Okay," Deuce says.
"See you there!" Dylla says.
The group then take their leave and begin making their way to the town to check it out.
They soon arrive at Clock Town and it's bustling with people.
"What a lovely town," Ortho says.
"And lively," Sereia says.
"I love all the flowers everywhere! What a beautiful place for a stroll," Epel says.
"I agree. There are cute flags with rabbits on them," Briar says.
Grim becomes tired, "Gettin' pretty tired of all these hills though…"
"Well the whole town is built on hills, so," Deuce says.
Then turns to Ortho, "How are you doing, Ortho? I know you're not used to going on foot.
"Me? I'm fine! I installed a plugin with some basic walking protocols," Ortho says, "Look, I can even run!" and with that, Ortho begins running on his feet and hops like a rabbit.
Everyone is amazed, "Whoa! That's awesome!"
"The motion is modeled on how real rabbits run," Ortho says.
Then Silver says, "It's very true to life, you're bounding about on both legs like that."
"You did your research," Epel says.
"Movement is something I pay special attention to as a member of the Film Research Club," Ortho says.
Soon, Silver spots something, "Hm? Look, there's a clock shop across the way."
"And one over here too," Epel says.
"And over there," Sereia says.
"They're everywhere!" Jasper says.
"Let's see what the guidebook says…" Deuce says and looks at the guidebook, "Clock Town is heavily influenced by the legends surrounding the White Rabbit. As his duties were myriad and many, it's said he was always pressed for time. Therefore it is customary for the people of Clock Town to place a great deal of importance on time and its management. It is forbidden to be late, and plans must be scheduled down to the second. Constant communication is also a must. You will find most residents of Clock Town to be both punctual and meticulous."
"Will we, now," Silver says.
Grim laughs, "Myahaha! You're like, the polar opposite, Deuce!"
"Q-quiet, you!" Deuce says, annoyed. He then calms himself, "Ahem. Anyway, with so many detail-oriented types around, a lot of people here become clockmakers."
Epel then asks, "Hmm... Do you think performing such delicate work ends up making someone have a delicate personality as well?"
"My brother is a wiz with technology...but he's not like that at all," Ortho says.
"...Not even a lil' bit," Grim replies.
"Then maybe the best craftspeople are the ones who are either super serious...or super silly," Epel says.
"Hmm, maybe we should get a clock. It can help get Grim up," Briar responds, thinking about it.
