Chapter 3-7: That REEKS!
The group soon make their way to the shop Deuce's mom recommended. Soon, they arrived at a perfume shop.
"This must be the place!" Deuce says.
They all look to see many different bottles of different fragrance.
"Look at all these small bottles of perfume. They're actually reasonably priced," Silver says.
"But there's so many. How do I pick?" Epel says, "It's a great gift idea, but I don't actually know anything about fragrances."
"Neither do I," Deuce says, and picks up one of the bottles, "How do you even use these things? Just push here?" and begins spraying some from the bottle.
Or rather, a lot.
Epel coughs, "Oof, that REEKS!"
"Deuce, that's too much, "Briar says.
The vendor says, "She's right, sir, you've sprayed far too much!"
"Oh, uh, whoops!" Deuce says.
Grim cries out and covers his nose, "Gah! My nostrils are burnin'! You got a mighty stench on you, Deuce!"
Trinket and Sereia cough as everyone else hold their nose.
"My bad... I gotta get this stuff off me!" Deuce says.
"I knew picking the perfect one was going to be impossible! None of us knows the first thing about fragrance!" Epel says. But then he turns to Deuce, "Wait! I bet your mom would know exactly which one to get, Deuce."
"Yeah. asking her is probably a way safer bet…" Deuce says.
But then Silver says, "I think it's important Epel is the one to pick out Vil's gift. When Father brings us gifts, he always puts a lot of thought into what he gets us. And that thought is what counts."
"Wh-when you're right, you're right…" Epel says.
"Can't argue with that, Silver," Deuce says, "We'll do what we can to help, but it should be your decision, Epel."
"lf you can give me an idea of what you're looking for, I can give you a few samples," The vendor says.
"That would be amazing!" Epel says.
Then the vendor asks, "Could you tell me a little about the person you're shopping for?"
"Um, sure. In a word, he's…" Epel says, thinking about it, "TERRIFYING!"
Everyone responds, confused.
"I see. Well. how about this?" The vendor responds and brings one out, "The spicy top note is rather intense, but its base is robust and woody."
"...I understand all of those words individually, but not together," Deuce says.
Epel sniffs it, "Still, I like it more than the sickeningly sweet one you sprayed everywhere, Deuce. It's sharp, but not overpowering. I think this is the one! I'll take one in the mini size, please!"
The vendor then gives Epel his purchase, "Here you are."
"Fragrances are something that science has yet to fully analyze," Ortho says.
"Yeah?" Deuce replies.
"The way something smells is completely subjective, and there's very little evidence in regards to a fragrance's effect. But Vil has always been good to me in the Film Research Club, so I'd like to get him something as well," Ortho says.
"Oh, that'll make him so happy!" Epel says.
Then the vendor asks, "Would you mind telling me how you feel about the recipient?"
"He's very… STRONG!" Epel says.
Everyone becomes confused.
Then Grim replies, "This shopkeep must think Vil is some kinda monster at this point."
"They'd never guess we're buying something for a famous model," Deuce says.
Briar smiles, "But you have to admit, Vil does have a strong personality."
"Hm, in that case... How about this?" The vendor says, presenting the bottle, "It's a very warm scent, with harmonious notes of fresh citrus and an amber accord."
"That was just gibberish!" Deuce says.
Ortho sniffs it and says, "Yes, these ingredients are in compliance with my database. I'll take it!"
And the vendor gives Ortho his purchase, "Thank you very much!"
"Epel and Ortho bought completely different fragrances," Grim says.
"I think that's a good thing. Vil's going to be very pleased indeed," Silver says.
After that, the group take their leave and head to the next area.
"Hey, there's a glasses store over there. Oh, and another one!" Epel says.
"The White Rabbit wore spectacles, so they're popular here," Deuce says.
The group then walks to the glasses store.
Grim says, "Briar, let's try on some of these glasses they got out front!"
Briar and the others look around.
Briar then picks a pair, "I want these!" and then tries them on.
Thick black rims! They make you look like some sort of celebrity," Epel says.
"You got good taste, Briar," Deuce says
"You like this sort of thing, do you, Briar? I'll make a note of that in my memory banks," Ortho says.
"They really suit you," Silver says.
"Thanks," Briar says.
"Take a look at these," Tanzanite says, and switches his glasses for some, switching them to some that look like reading glasses.
"Wow. they look good on you, bro," Jasper says.
"Thank you, Jasper," Tanzanite says, "They even come with some cases and cleaning clothes. I needed some new glasses clothes."
"Good idea," Jasper says.
The two then make their purchases from the store and meet with the others.
"All right—we should probably head back to Rabbit National Park," Deuce says.
