Chapter 3-8: Why Don't We Share?
Sometime later, the gang returns to the Rabbit National Park.
"Here we are back at Rabbit National Park, "Ortho says.
"I need some grub!" Grim says.
"Gotta admit, I'm hungry too," Tanzanite says.
I'm hungry as well. We only had those egg sandwiches earlier," Deuce says, "Let's get something to eat before we head to the White Rabbit Deliveries stall."
"Anything you recommend?" Silver says.
"Yeah—see those jacket potatoes at that stall? They're a must-have Queendom festival food. Potatoes are one of our staple crops," Deuce says.
"Sounds good," Briar says.
"Those look like regular baked potatoes to me," Epel says
"Yeah, but we call them jacket potatoes when they're baked with the skin on," Deuce says
"Why?" Sereia asks.
"'Cause the skin looks like a little jacket the potato is wearing. According to my mom, anyway. I thought that was so funny. It's always stuck with me," Deuce says.
Some of them begin giggling in response.
Epel giggles, "Haha, that's cute."
"They're pretty big. Why don't we share one?" Deuce says.
"Good idea. I'm starting to get short on cash," Epel says.
The gang then walks over to the Jacket Potato stand.
The vendor says, "Welcome! Go ahead and pick your toppings from this menu."
"Baked beans are the standard, I suppose," Deuce says, "But there's also tuna salad, chili, sour cream, avocado…"
But Grim says, "All of 'em! Pile 'em ALL on!"
"Huh?" The group reacts confused.
The vendor then fills in the order and presents the baked potato, "There you go! Come again!"
Deuce groans, "Ugh, all those toppings were NOT cheap."
"Whatever will we do with Grim…" Epel says.
"Yes. Grim has a very big appetite," Briar says.
"No kidding," Jasper says.
Ortho walks over, "Oh, let me take a photo," And takes a photo of it, "My memory's absolutely stuffed with food pics. I really feel like I've been eating my way through town with you all."
"Yeah, same!" Deuce says.
"Enjoying good food with good friends makes everything taste even more delicious!" Epel says.
"Indeed," Silver says, "How are we going to divide up the jacket potato?"
"How about we all take turns eating a forkful at a time?" Silver suggests.
"All right," Silver says.
Grim quickly says, "Me first, me first!"
"You first?" Briar questions, sounding wary.
Epel and Deuce shout, "Absolutely not!"
Grim reacts in shock, "Mrah? But why?!"
"You were going to eat it all in one bite!" Epel says.
"Grim, you're going last," Deuce says, "Silver, the first bite is yours."
"You're sure?" Silver asks.
"Of course. You're an upperclassman!" Deuce says.
"Oh, well then—don't mind if I do," Silver says and takes a bite of the potato, "A...complex flavor."
"Because of all the toppings," Deuce says.
Epel takes a bite, "It's tasty though!"
Jasper also takes a bite, "You're right, this is good."
Tanzanite also takes a bite, "Yum."
Sereia takes a bite, "Delicious.
Then Decue takes a bite, "Yeah. There's a lot of toppings, but they all go well with the potato!"
Grim groans, "Ugh, my jacket potato just keeps gettin' smaller and smaller…"
"You mean OUR jacket potato," Epel points out.
"Your turn, Briar," Deuce says.
"Okay. I'll have the tuna salad one," Briar says and takes a bite.
"The salty tuna and tangy mayo both go well with the potato," Epel says.
Briar turns to Sereia, "Do you wanna bite?"
Trinket answers in tinks.
"Avocado, huh okay," Briar says and gives Trinket a small scoop. The little fairy eats it and responds with a smile.
"Trinket likes it," Briar says.
Then Grim says, "All right, Grim. Here. You can eat the rest."
"FINALLY!" Grim says and ears the rest of it. But becomes disappointed, "Delish! But would've been nice to get more than a few measly mouthfuls! You gluttons hardly left me more'n crumbs!"
"Oh, please. You got way more than anyone else," Deuce says.
"I think we were asking for trouble trying to share food with Grim…" Ortho says.
"You can say that again," Deuce says.
The girls giggle in reply.
