Fair enough Ray, I was just wondering if you and Zarc were friends, rivals, or if you just heard of him before... the incident.
As for this chapter, I have to admit that the way Ray described Zarc's corruption leading up to him sending his dragons to attack everyone... it sounds like he was the biggest victim of all which in a way he was... though it doesn't change how many lives he destroyed. In a way it does make sense that she would want to help her childhood friend... she might have been one of the only friends he had other than his dragons. Though at least she tried to stay close to him in one way even if it was to keep Zarc from reforming but if she is his friend maybe she could at least try to undo the damage those cheers did... I don't know I guess I just feel like Ray should have done more because Zarc needs someone by his side. Don't misunderstand, I know she did what she thought was right and in a way she did save everyone and tried to help Zarc's aspects... I just wish that maybe there was a way for her to do more and help him. I do agree with her on Dan using more mechanics ini his decks to grow as a duelist though. Hopefully their training pays off.
Then we have Henrietta's doubts about Dan... or I guess more accurately her curiosity about him, though if Declan believes he'll be a decent lancer in spite of his loss to Shay then at least she trusts his word... she's not the best person or mother but at least she has some faith in her son... and confidence in Riley even if it seems to be more professionally based than out of love at the moment. As for Hector... or you poor boy having to keep that secret from your four friends... then again it's going to be fun to see Shay and Yuto both put Dipper in his place... "Best in the Xyz Course" not anymore.
Ah, crashing into the person you'll fall for... at least if this is going like the original version... Riley and Dan meeting as they bump into each other is nice... and love at first sight... or... first meeting. Riley is smitten and I have a feeling Declan will very much approve of this, she deserves to have someone special in her life. It also makes sense he couldn't bring up Ray or her father to Riley... though it is a bit sad about Ray's friend though Zarc reigniting her passion... he was a really positive influence on her... hopefully she can return the favor somehow with Dan's help. Though I am seriously hating these stockholders... at least the chief of police made an attempt to fix things even if he technically couldn't. The matches for the first two days sound interesting and they're all going to be very intense... though I'm going to be honest if Sylvio has the cards I think he does Yuya's way out of his league this time, and Hector vs Dan will be another great duel. A bit anxious about Zuzu going after Declan because that likely won't end well or worse it'll have her be disqualified or hurt badly.

Ok, question of the chapter...
1. Ray and Dan (Both can answer) how much of Ray's spirit is with Dan... is there any possibility of an Atem/Yugi situation later on... it could be interesting to see Ray duel herself though probably not for a while.
Ray: Well we aren't sure, I may have a chance to duel at some point.
Dan: But we're not gonna have where she duels in my place pretty much the whole time until the end like Yugi/Atem does.

2. Declan: I'm guessing you approve of Riley's little crush on Dan, so assuming they both make it through the coming battles will you be giving your blessing? I somehow doubt your father will be able to do that.
Declan: As my father had no knowledge of Riley's existence until we invaded Duel Academy, he wouldn't give his blessing. However, I will give it to them both, they need each other especially from Riley's past before mother made her the Dueling Soldier she is.
And here we are Zuzu vs Declan everyone. Now with the way Declan is, he be incredibly difficult to beat, and although it doesn't change anything for real, I do wanted to try this match since Zuzu barely had any duels in the original version. So we will see what Zuzu, and her new secret weapon can do here. Afterward, we then see the Arc-League Tournament in full effect, and sees some of the You Show Trio's duels, Tate won't be using Magnet Warrior this time, even though I like the deckbuild, it be better suited for him to graduate from that. That also means that Riley will keep using the Deck she uses originally as C/C/C isn't released for real, and there are hardly any cards to use right.
Summary: Confronting Declan, Zuzu proceeded to ask him what is up with Julia, and why that Shay, and Yuto are in LID's Team despite them hunting them from the very beginning. Declan in response offered that if she defeats him in a duel, he will tell her what she wants to know, which she accepted. She unveiled a secret weapon during the duel alongside Fusion Summoning that she was saving against Julia. Afterward, the Arc-League Championship has kicked off, and Frederick's match ended in victory. The next duel for You Show is between Allie, and Declan's little sister Riley, and although she doesn't seem as confident as her brother, she does have the skills to be like him. One thing is certain, Allie is in for a fight in her hands!

Previously on Ascension of the Dragons:
"My home, the Original Dimension, was once whole full of nurturing Duelists who were all living peacefully. My childhood friend used them lots of times with five different dragons together. The more duels he got into the more damage he had done to an aggressive, and brutal dueling style." Ray was explaining to Dan about her backstory. "Then desiring more power he unleashed his dragons on everyone turning cheers to screams. Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Ritual, all of those powers are combined into him with the mightiest powers of all four methods combined into one. Together they are, Supreme King Z-ARC!"
Dan was shocked as Supreme King Z-ARC was attacking the city silently while Ray was shedding light tears. "Humanity are the real monsters. They made Zarc the way he is now, and... And I just did nothing but watch! I want the old Zarc back before all of this happens."
"And you will." Dan spoke as he softly hugged her. "We will bring Zarc back to normal. But we'll do it together."
"This is Joy Jeever reporting live from Paradise Square. It's no wonder this pastime has the world's most fanatic fan base. They can't wait for this tournament to start." Joy was going over her report smiling over. "Neither can I! Any minute now the opening ceremonies will begin, and we can expect this crowd to go wild."
Dan and Riley then knocked into each other at the hall groaning as they get up with Riley speaking. "Ow, ow, ow."
"Dan Kizami. A student at You Show Duel School. And you are?" Dan helped her up, and gathered her Deck while introducing himself smiling towards Riley who looked shy.
"Riley Akaba. Student of the Leo Institute of Dueling."
"Thanks." Dan smiled at her.
"Your welcome..." Riley stares as Dan walks out by himself before she blushes with a thought. '...I think I'm in love.'
"They were in the Advanced Dueling Classes last semester." Julia was then speaking to Zuzu who looked shocked that Julia said what she wasn't expecting to say when she knew Julia was looking for Shay, and Yuto for Professor Marco. Then seeing Declan walking out, she decided to confront them while everyone called for her just standing surprised wondering why she was off in a hurry.

Everything is now in place... all of the people that Declan thought of, and wanted to be within the Lancers are within the Arc-League Championship, and now all that is left is to see their skill, and abilities to see if they are worthy to become Lancers. Of those duelists included Yuya Sakaki the Creator of Pendulum Summoning, Dan Kizami someone who can use different methods in succession, Yuto, and Shay Obsidian 2 duelists from the Xyz Dimension that have considerable skill, and common enemies like him, and what else.
Now that he was here at the Arc-League, and made his appearance, he needs to head towards the control room to reach the competition from a secure location so that he can see over the Tournament in case Duel Academy or Obelisk Force comes in. His mother will be safe with him when they attack, while Riley does her job by dueling in the Arc-League to manage what Junior Youth Lancers they have available on the other side from herself. There are a lot of potential candidates to choose from, and what is left is to see what is gonna happen.
Although, he can feel something. A strange feeling that... something is around that he should know about. But what exactly is that feeling? He already knows about everything for now, except the reasons why his father is attacking the Dimensions, but he supposes he will learn when he confronts him personally. Then what exactly is it, he feels like he should know then? It's not like something where there is plain sight for him to see, and learn, he is much too observant for that. Maybe he should pay close attention to the matches, and find out what it is so he can-
"There you are! Declan!"
Curious Declan turned over with the woman, and Riley turning to see who is confronting them outside was Zuzu who had a stare towards said man looking serious. Declan in turn stared back, interested in wondering what she wants right now here before the tournament can begin. He had gotten reports she had been learning how to Fusion Summon, which he made sure that Julia wouldn't learn about as he figured that's her secret weapon against Julia, but what is she confronting him about?
"Zuzu. What do I owe, the pleasure?"
"What did you do to Julia, Kit, and Dipper?" Zuzu didn't waste any time asking him why the three didn't seem to remember what they were doing originally.
"Whatever do you mean?" Declan of course knows what she is talking about but is acting like he has no idea to make sure if she really knows what she means.
"You know what I mean!" Zuzu snapped with a glare towards him. He doesn't look fazed by her glare as she clenches her hands. "Julia, Kit, and Dipper were looking for Shay, and Yuto to rescue the missing people from the Leo Institute, and now they are pretending they have always been friends, and they are on your side! You did something to them didn't you?"
"I'm afraid, we don't need to answer anything to you. You are getting into a business that doesn't matter to you." the woman spoke over to her with crossed arms.
"So you DID do something then!"
Declan adjusted his glasses not threatened as this happened. Zuzu had already been hunting for Shay, and Yuto, so he probably should've expected she would head to him for some answers. Well, Zuzu is a skilled duelist, prior to Yuya attaining Pendulum Summoning, and Dan joining You Show, she was the best Duelist of You Show Duel School, and although the two were getting stronger, she was getting stronger herself. Still, she hasn't had a chance to prove herself within the Arc-League yet for her to be a Lancer, and can't have her saying things to make Duel Academy aware of their preparations, or cause some panic if she tells people.
Besides, he had been meaning to use his new fully completed Pendulum Cards against a strong opponent to show how far they had gotten, and how they can be handled well. Sometime after his duel with Dan, they had malfunctioned, and shorted out, so he, and his team had done lots of tests, and soon with enough focus they had managed to replicate Pendulum Cards that are the same power then Yuya's natural ones that although don't possess the same energy as they do, they can work on them more but much to their confusion, they detected a surge of Pendulum Energy that shouldn't be possible as Yuya, and LID are the current ones around who can use Pendulum cards. This would mean someone is working with Pendulum Cards, but who, and why?
That detail will be later because he has Zuzu here that he needs to handle. So he looked over towards her as her reflection reflected off his glasses. "Well then Zuzu... assuming that I did have a hand what do you intend to do?"
"You tell them the truth, and why you did it!"
"I'm afraid I can't do that. You see, I had altered their memories for a reason. A reason that for your own safety, you can't know yet." Declan spoke to her which she glared over. Then he closed his eyes, taking out his Duel Disk. "However, Zuzu, if you insist, then I'll give you a chance to know... if you defeat me." He opened his eyes, inserting his Deck in his Duel Disk as it auto-shuffled.
"Declan?" The woman widens her eyes seeing that Declan is challenging her to a duel with the stake, that she will know everything if she wins while Riley stares interested, and surprised that Declan is gonna duel.
Zuzu herself wasn't surprised having anticipated that a Duel would be the end result. She is no slouch, and even though Dan had struggled, and lost against Declan with his new Pendulum cards after he used Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz, she isn't intimidated by it. She knew she would face some powerful opponents in her time dueling, and Declan is just one of those duelists. Although she is nervous about what she can do against him, she refuses to back down; the truth of learning why Dipper, Julia, and Kit's memories had changed, and Shay and Yuto are with LID's Competing Team.
"Okay Declan... if you want a duel, you've got one." Zuzu takes out her Duel Disk, and straps it onto her arm staring at Declan. "I had gotten stronger since my first duel with Julia, so don't think of underestimating me!"
"I'm not planning to." Declan adjusted his glasses staring as their Duel Disks activated. Declan then spoke onto his Duel Disk for the people who will be watching. "Save all the data you can to see how the tests of the Pendulum cards are coming along." After saying that he draws his hand looking over at Zuzu who readied her own hand. "Well Zuzu... lady's first." She only nodded to him more then ready to duel. The woman, and Riley are silently watching how this will go, the woman thinks this won't take long, but Riley thinks something isn't right. Zuzu looks like she has some more tricks than Fusion Summoning... she wonders what exactly she has in mind.

"My go!" Zuzu takes a look over her hand, eyeing 1 card in particular. She wasn't sure where this card, and the others came from but they showed up in her Deck probably the day after Shay's duel with Dan cause when she was editing her Deck for the Arc-League they were in her Deck. She isn't sure what exactly they came from, or why they appeared here but she's glad of it. Because now she can get stronger than ever before. So she takes the card she's eyeing showing it. "First thing's first, I summon Refrain the Melodious Songstress!"
Raising onto the field was a beige colored fairy with a red dress on her form smiling over having blue eyes. She has red hair with the ends lighting up to orange while wearing some sort of green cloth like tiara with a blue gem on it alongside a bracelet on her left arm sorta resembling Zuzu's. The bottom of her dress's skirt is black with orange music note pieces on it alongside a long sleeve on her right arm, something looking like shields on her dress, and a frill around her waist.

Declan looked over towards this monster. It seemed a bit familiar to him although he isn't sure, he had never seen this Main Deck monster before Zuzu began training to use Fusion Summoning. So he probably thinks it can help build her field for a hard front. Well all he has to do is to see if he's correct, or what else, Zuzu has some powerful cards, so this is no time to be careless.
"When this card is summoned, I take Melodious from my Deck, and add her to my hand!" Zuzu searches her Deck, adding a card to her hand as her Deck is auto-shuffled. Then she reveals the card she had added to her hand. "Then the effect of my added card activates! Since I had added, Couplet the Melodious Songstress to my hand except by drawing, I can reveal her, and summon another Melodious from my hand that's Level 4 or below!" Zuzu shows the monster she added before then taking a card, and showing it. "And I choose, Level 4, Tamtam the Melodious Diva!"
Appearing onto the field was a fairy with light pink skin having purple somewhat hair with red ribbons on it, and purple eyes as well smiling. Her attire is a songstress' dress having musical notes over it while it's in different colors of red, blue, red, and green all in order from top to bottom while red music notes are on the bottom with long white socks, and blue shoes on her feet. She is also holding some sort of mace with what looks like a blooming vegetable on it as she chuckled beside Refrain

Materializing onto the field was a slender fairy-like woman wearing a half golden mask on the right side of her face with a ruby jeweled eye as she readied in front of Zuzu. Her hat is pink rimmed but half yellow, and half black while she has a long beige ponytail at the back of her head. She is also wearing a black, and golden dress on her form with some decorative pieces around it while the sleeves on her arms are puffy cuffs.

Declan stares up at the Fusion Monster. She had been practicing quite a bit to do Fusion Summoning, and so this is one of them. It certainly looks interesting enough, and with 2500 ATK, that's a pretty niche monster that can be summoned easily. Of course, if she remembers him, she would need to do more. And the fact that it's in Defense Position... quite an interesting choice. "So that's your new Fusion Monster..."
"When Tamtam is used for a Fusion Summon, I lower the Attack Points of a Melodious on my field to deal you 500 points of damage!" Zuzu spoke towards him as a visage of Tamtam appeared in front of Bacha. She then takes some of Bacha's strength before charging in smacking Declan with her mace forcing him to step back. (Declan: 3500/Hand: 5) She had managed to get first blood against him... well this just gotten even more interesting, he hopes for her to do more than that.
Bacha the Melodious Maestra: (ATK: 2500 - 500 = 2000)
"Now Bacha's own special ability! When this gal is Special Summoned, I can summon a Melodious from my Deck! And now her other effect, this Fusion Summoned card prevents the activated effects of my Melodious monsters from getting negated!" Zuzu searches her Deck, finding the card, and places it on the field. "So now come to the field, Aria the Melodious Diva!"
Placing a card on the field manifests another fairy who is kneeling down to the field. It seemed to have a song sheet as a part of her wings while her dress is a dark brown with golden like decorative like pieces on her left arm, and a golden band on her right arm while the dress is exposing her belly while she has light purple hair with a orange song note over her face a pink like wrap around her waist, and boots the same color as her dress kneeling down.

"And while she's on the field Special Summoned, all Melodious' on my field cannot be targeted to card effects or be destroyed in battle!" An interested glint went over Declan's glasses. So to prepare herself for his powerful strategies she placed up a powerful defense on her field to make her monsters difficult to defeat. If they can't be targeted to card effects, or be destroyed in battle, then his monster's strength and Contract with Witch's effects will not work against them. Plus who knows what else she has.
"I end my turn here Declan." Zuzu would've used the other thing that Couplet can do but chooses to save it for now. Right now, she has a strong defense against whatever Declan can do. She can't let him get the jump on her.

"It's my turn now, I draw!" Declan drew as Zuzu braced herself for whatever he had. She's ready for whatever he has no matter what. "And I activate two spells, Dark Contract with the Gate, and Dark Contract with the Entities!" Two Dark Contracts that he had used against Dan appeared on the field.

What it was is a griffon-like beast that's bipedal that has brown feathers on its body, and wings while it has a bird claw as it's left arm with a muscular wolf arm as it's right arm. It also has a yellow beak, glowing eyes, and black wolf ears alongside a long tail, and black straps all over its body.

Declan raised an arm as both of his monsters flew up fusing together as Zuzu looked up watching wondering what kind of monster it was he was summoning.
"Ghost of the past deeds of kings! Engulf the talon venom, and be reborn into a new king! Fusion Summon! Come forth, ruler who carries the glory of God! D/D/D Oracle King d'Arc!"
Moving onto the field was d'Arc from his duel with Dan flying behind Declan.

d'Arc... if she can recall, she can cancel out effect damage towards Declan, and have him regain the same amount of Life Points. So if he can't destroy either of her monsters, he must be planning to stall this by regaining points to last against her attacks. Well, she isn't gonna let him do that. Zuzu stares over, determined, waiting for Declan to finish his turn. However he then raised an arm. "And now I overlay Oracle King d'Arc to build the Overlay Network!"
"What!?" Zuzu widens her eyes as d'Arc turns purple flying up into an Overlay Network. "He's using a single monster to Xyz Summon!?" She recalled that Dipper, and Declan used this same tactic to summon Ptolemy M7, and Marksman King - Tell, although unlike those times they were Xyz Monsters but Declan is using a single Fusion to do so instead.
"By using a D/D/D monster on my field, I can Xyz Summon this next card!" Declan spoke over how he is Xyz Summoning with a single non-Xyz Monster.
"Hero through all who endure all injustice, now give out the kind of justice that all prejudice fears! Xyz Summon! Be born, D/D/D Deviser King Deus Machinex!"
Lowering down from the Overlay Network was a large fiend. It sorta resembles Abyss Ragnarok from being an armored fiend on a throne but this one is much different. It's larger, and has blue plated armor on its being with golden horns, and decorations on its armor with wings that seem to fold over, and back while it also has yellow eyes, a blue, and white striped tail, black flowing hair, and spikes on his knuckles.

Still, she she's alright for now, she still has some strong defense with target protection, and immunity to battle. But why does she still feel like something is wrong... suddenly she realizes something. Looking over she sees Entities which she widen her eyes, the effect when Declan Xyz Summons-!
"And now I activate 2 effects from Dark Contract with the Entities! First as I had Xyz Summoned, I can banish a card from the field or our graveyards! I pick to banish Aria the Melodious Diva!" Deus Machinex charges a spell blasting over at Aria as she yelled out vanishing before Zuzu's very eyes.
"Aria!"
"And the next effect, as I had summoned a Pendulum Monster, I draw a card in exchange to sending 1 card from my hand to the graveyard!" Declan discarded his only card before then drawing. Wait a Pendulum Monster? But he only summoned an Xyz Monster, where'd the Pendulum effect get activated then? "You seem confused... you are probably wondering where the Pendulum Monster is? Where it's right in front of you." Zuzu blinked looking over towards Deus Machinex which Declan declaring. "The secret to Pendulum has been unlocked by me! Deus Machinex is both an Xyz Monster, and a Pendulum Monster!"
"What!?" A hybrid of Xyz, and Pendulum!? How is that even possible, Yuya is the one who created Pendulum but Declan is maximizing it to it's full potential in ways Yuya never achieved! This would also mean that Deus Machinex would come back if it's Pendulum Summoned, and must have powerful effects to support it as well. And with Aria gone, Bacha is defenseless against it.
"And now Deus Machinex attack Bacha the Melodious Maestra! Deus-EX-Machina!" Deus Machinex charges another spell blasting over towards Bacha who yelled out from the attack easily being destroyed while Zuzu raised an arm. Thanks to her placing Bacha in Defense, she didn't take any damage.
Determined not to let him get the lead she looked over towards Declan. "Well hang on a minute Declan! If Bacha goes to the graveyard, her special ability activates! So now, I can revive a Melodious from my graveyard as long as the monster I pick isn't her! So come on back Tamtam to Melodious Diva!" Tamtam rose back up chuckling by herself onto the field.
Tantam the Melodious Diva: (Defense Position)
"Tamtam? Why didn't she summon Refrain?" Riley looked confused on this choice. Tamtam's effect to add a Polymerization doesn't activate if Zuzu doesn't control a Melodious other than herself, and Refrain has a strong effect to add a monster to her hand so why'd she choose that one?
Declan still looks interested from the choice of monster also wondering what Zuzu's move here is. He is curiously, she seems to be up to something if she makes moves like these. He'll find out here in this duel as he sets a card. "I place 1 card face-down. Your up Zuzu." A powerful Xyz Monster on his field, 3 Dark Contracts that deal 4000 points to him when his turn comes, and he will survive that. So now Zuzu needs to deal some damage, and get rid of this Xyz Monster for her to have a chance against Declan. Although with this card being a Pendulum Monster she better play her cards right.

"Okay, I'm up next!" Zuzu drew, checking over. Nodding she takes her revealed card. Alright, time to use her secret weapon! "And now Declan, you aren't the only one who is capable of using Pendulum!" Declan blinked, confused hearing that before she revealed Couplet. "Cause I use Scale 9, Couplet the Melodious Songstress!" A Pendulum Monster? It was proven when she places the card on her Duel Disk as a fairy woman rose up with a smile rising beside her.
This new monster was another woman who had blue-purple eyes with hot pink hair in a ponytail alongside green song notes in her hair. She also is wearing a dress like Refrain's except it's orange, and blue down alongside a bracelet like Zuzu's on her right arm, and a glove that's mostly fingerless on her left. Alongside that the bottom of her dress is also puffy with music notes all around it.

So she has Pendulum Monsters? Declan isn't sure exactly what to think of this, but figured this would be more interesting. If she has access to Pendulum Monsters then it probably is because of Yuya. As the creator of Pendulum Summoning, he would of course have cards of Pendulum to give to his friends, or allies. Of course, there is something about this that doesn't seem right... it's like a part of him is closer to something like he had felt before. He isn't sure what type of feeling this is, but can figure out sooner or later.
"She has Pendulum, now?" The woman looked shocked that someone other than Yuya, and LID had access towards Pendulum. And they seem to be working right without any glitching effects. But how can she? Riley is just as shocked as she is as she watches this, if someone other than Yuya, and LID can Pendulum Summon was possible. But apparently it is from Zuzu able to use Pendulum herself.
"And thanks to Couplet now being in my Pendulum Zone, I can use her Pendulum Ability! As I have a Melodious in my field, I can add a Spell or Trap Card with Melodious in its name to my hand!" Zuzu's Deck ejects a card that she takes by adding it. Then she reveals it. "Next I use it, Melodious Concerto!" A spell showing of Aria, and Elegy singing together in a duet appeared on the field

"But first, I activate Tamtam's special ability from my graveyard! Like before, by lowering the Attack Points of Flowering Etoile by 500, you take 500 points of damage!" Declan stares, not intimidated as Tamtam appeared, taking some of Flowering Etoile's power, and blasted Declan with some of that power that he shrugs off. (Declan: 4000/Hand: 0)

Good so now, once his turn begins, he will take 4000 damage at once. Of course, Zuzu shouldn't end her turn right there if she recalls Declan's strategies; he probably has a want to circumvent that so she should prepare her field. "Now as I have summoned a Melodious Fusion Monster, I can place these girls to my Pendulum Zones! Rise to the field Scale 1 Refrain the Melodious Songstress, and Scale 9, Couplet the Melodious Songstress!"

So I send Level 4, Soprano the Melodious Songstress to have her gain 800 points!" She almost thought of using Flowering Etoile's effect but thinks it would be better to save it for later. It may not have her deal more damage, but at this point it didn't matter as Declan would take 4000 points of damage on his next turn, and she is making sure he doesn't escape that damage. Plus, she wants to use a monster she can use later so she can't send her stronger monsters now.

"That monster's power is stronger than Declan's!" Riley cried in shock seeing it.
Declan stared over interested as he watched this. It is enough to defeat his Xyz Monster, and can feel that it's something powerful with her other monsters. Although, he won't be beaten that easily. He has plenty of other tricks in his field.
"Battle! Flowering Etoile attack Deus Machinex!" Zuzu swung her arm towards the large Xyz Monster as she charged in towards the Xyz Monster. Flowering Etoile attacked all over destroying the Xyz Monster on the field while Declan stares over. (Declan: 3400/Hand: 0) Grinning, she pointed over. "And now Solo, Sonata attack him directly!" Both of her remaining Melodious monsters charge in towards Declan as he stares over. Both of these combined attacks will defeat him all at once.
However Declan does have a trick. "I activate my face-down, Contract Laundering!" A trap that reveals the Emperor from within, Imperial Order, and other trap cards burning up contracts.

If his Xyz Monster was destroyed, and his Life Points would be that low enough alongside d'Arc not on his field to heal him? Zuzu admits she probably got a little too excited... but still she has the advantage. So she places a card down ending her turn. "I end my turn for now Declan!"

I take the Scale 10 D/D/D Deviser King Deus Machinex from my Extra Deck, and place it on my Pendulum Zone!"
Zuzu widened her eyes watching as Deus Machinex rose up to his left Pendulum Zone.

So he is able to place that card in his Pendulum Zone... if she tries to return that card to his hand, it would just allow him to easily summon it all over again like before so Zuzu holds onto Flowering Etoile's effect again. Although with a Scale like 10 it is risky...
"And now I activate Scale 1, D/D Count Surveyor to set the Pendulum Scale!" Declan reveals a monster placing it in his Pendulum Zone as a monster rose with a growl in his other Pendulum Zone.
It was some sort of white, purple, and black alien-like monster having three large claws on its feet alongside a camera lens on its face, and a long tail. On paper it looked like the appearance of the Xenomorph alien from the Alien series of films although it isn't the same thing from it's camera like lens on its face, and tail while having sharp claws, and some sort of red crest on it's plate, and diamond like gems on it's legs.

"I activate the effect of Flowering Etoile!" Zuzu raised an arm as her Fusion Monster meditated. "By banishing any number of Melodious monsters on my field, I can force an equal number of cards to your hand! I banish Sonata, and Solo!" Her Fusion Monster did some solo songs as her other monsters vanished from the field while Declan's Pendulum Scale was removed from the field themselves. This means he cannot Pendulum Summon this turn although it provides a big risk of him summoning Deus Machinex as easily as before. "With Sonata gone from the field now, Flowering Etoile loses the Attack Points she had."

Quite a special ability that one had... it not only protects her monsters, it also bounces cards back to his hand, and it ends him trying to Pendulum Summon as long as it's on the field. "Well then Zuzu that monster is quite interesting... however I'm not always a one trick pony." He then reveals, Count Surveyor's card. "I activate Count Surveyor's in my hand! By sending 1 D/D monster from my hand to the graveyard, I can summon this card!" He shows a card before discarding it as Count Surveyor rose on his field growling.

"He can still summon it...?" Zuzu grunted seeing that despite Flowering Etoile's effect, he can still make a move here as he takes a card. He can summon back his Xyz Monster at this rate, and it'll dominate the field as before, and she still doesn't know what it can do.
"And now I activate the effect of D/D Vice Typhoon in my graveyard!" Declan added as a large fiend with snakes on her rose from the graveyard alongside d'Arc. "As this card was sent to my graveyard this turn, I can banish monsters from my graveyard to Fusion Summon!" Zuzu's eyes widened as the two monsters fused together.
"Chaotic swirls that shape all paths! Engulf the ruler of God, and give rise to a new flaming king! Fusion Summon! Be born level 8! D/D/D Flame High King Genghis!"
Genghis rose onto the field beside D/D Count Surveyor rising up with a growl onto the field.

Declan called as Genghis formed a ring shooting over that enveloped Miraculous Descent that Zuzu grunted over. "And now Genghis attacks, Flowering Etoile!" Genghis charges over towards the Fusion Monster readying herself before she is struck with multiple slashes by Genghis destroying her while Zuzu raises an arm. (Zuzu: 3600/Hand: 1)
Despite this Zuzu doesn't back down. "Well you activated her ability Declan! Since Flowering Etoile was Fusion Summoned when sent to the graveyard by your card, I can summon another Melodious from my Deck or Extra Deck!" Another portal appeared in front of her.
"Come on the song of victory! Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir!"

Declan doesn't agree with his mother, there had to be a reason, that she summoned this monster that's weaker then his own. So he decided to try figuring it out soon. Zuzu meanwhile called over. "And then Melodious Concerto's effect! Since a Melodious Fusion Monster is sent to the graveyard while this card is in my graveyard, I can place this card at the bottom of my Deck, and draw a card!" She places the Spell to the bottom of her Deck, and then draws.
Declan meanwhile ended his Battle Phase raising an arm. "I overlay Count Surveyor, and Genghis!" The two glowed purple, and red flying up into the Overlay Network while Zuzu blinked seeing him Xyz Summoning again, and with Level 8 monsters.
"When two suns rise, the horizon of a new world shall open up! Xyz Summon! Appear and come forth, Rank 8! D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga!"
Lowering down was another large fiend sitting upon a throne. It was a large stone chair housing a large being within wearing a darkened robe that has armor on his shoulders alongside yellow eyes horns on its head that has several rims on it, and large black spiky boots growling.

I take a Dark Contract from my graveyard, and place it onto my field!" Declan sets a card from his graveyard while saying this.

"Now Contract with Entities' effects activates!" Declan called over before pointing at Zuzu's lone monster. "As I had Xyz Summoned, I banished a monster on the field!" Bloom Diva yelled out as she was forced off the field that Zuzu yelled out. "And as I had summoned a Pendulum Monster, I drew, and discard a card" He drew a card, and then discarded a card. He then sets a card. "I end my turn, Zuzu."
"During this End Phase, Etoile's effect ends so Solo, and Sonata return to the field." Zuzu spoke as the two rose up again with Sonata's effect powering them up.

Declan is stronger than Zuzu anticipated. He is able to get rid of two powerful defensive cards at once, and also get rid of her Pendulum Scale. Still she has a bit of cards to use. She won't let Declan win, she will show him the kind of Duelist she is, and will also prove that she deserves to know the truth. It's what she owes to Julia, and the others. "Okay..." She looks over to her Deck. "Deck don't fail me now..." She closed her eyes before then taking a breath, and drawing. "I draw!" She checked seeing her drawn card. Making her plan she turned it over. "Okay battle!" Declan blinked from this before she pointed over. "Okay Solo attack Deus Machinex!"
Deus Machinex readied himself as Solo charges in with a harmonic yell before the Xyz Monster retaliated blasting over Solo as she yelled out destroyed easily while Zuzu raised her arm from the excess damage. (Zuzu: 2700/Hand: 2) Thank Sonata for lowering the damage some. Then she looked over. "And now Solo's ability activates! Since she's destroyed, I take one Melodious from my Deck, and summon her! So come to the field, Mozarta the Melodious Maestra!"

Declan was ready for that attack this time as he flips it. "I activate my face-down, D/D/D Headhunt!" A trap showing of D.D. Warrior, and D.D. Survivor kneeling to a throne with the King of Yamimakai, and the chain-weapons of Chain Thrasher appear in this card's artwork.

From that effect raising from the Fusion Vortex was a little girl like fairy like Bloom Diva, and Flowering Etoile onto the field as she giggled over waving. She is wearing a blue, and yellow flower themed dress with purple hair around, large flowers on her shoulders, and music notes around her dress as she giggled.

Zuzu planned to save this combo after using Mozarta to destroy Deus Machinex to attack Declan directly twice after Sonata attacked but from Headhunt, she had to quickly use this. "And now the effects of Refrain, and Couplet activate! As a Melodious Fusion Monster was summoned, I took them, and placed them back in my Pendulum Zone!"
The two reappeared in her Pendulum Zones with smiles over.

"I wonder." the woman perked confused from Zuzu's saying before she then called over. "Now Bloom Prima attacks Deus Machinex!" They looked over confused seeing this as Bloom Prima charges forward towards Deux Machinex. Then Zuzu revealed the last card in her hand. "And I use the effect of Score the Melodious Diva in my hand! By discarding this card, I can force Deus Machinex to lose all its Attack Points!" Declan widens his eyes as his Xyz Monster quickly loses strength.

"Declan!" The woman gasped seeing this with Riley also shocked.
"Let him have it Bloom Prima!" Bloom Prima charges in letting loose a barrage of attacks striking over at Deus Machinex as it groans, shattering on the field while Declan raises an arm. (Declan: 0100/Hand: 1) "And too late to relax! Bloom Prima can attack one more time!" Declan widened his eyes, surprised. That means... "Bloom Prima finishes him off girl! Melodic Harmony!" Bloom Prima grinned before letting loose a melodic song as it charged around enveloping Declan.
So... he's losing? Well this is quite an unexpected outcome. He had assumed that he could manage to win this match, but apparently he was proven wrong... those new cards she has both of Fusion, and Pendulum definitely caught him by surprise. Guess there never was a need to doubt Zuzu from the beginning. So he just smiled as he was hit from the attack.

Impossible, Declan lost? But how can that be, he is the most powerful Duelist of LID so it wouldn't be possible for that to happen. But apparently that's what happened against Zuzu here. Riley, and the woman were still staring shocked as Declan slowly raised up adjusting his glasses. "Well Zuzu, this was surprising... I didn't expect that I would actually lose..."
"I told you before I got stronger." Zuzu spoke with a grin towards him as he turned towards her. "Not just Fusion thanks to Sora but I also got Pendulum." She then takes Refrain, and Couplet's cards out of her Duel Disk looking at them. "Although, I have no idea where they came from. My best guess is that they were born like Yuya's against the Sledgehammer..." Then she perked up looking over at Declan. "Hey, Declan, we have a deal! I won, so now tell me why exactly you altered Julia, Kit, and Dipper's memories?"
Declan closed his eyes from this. It's true they had a deal, and he's a man of his word. So he is gonna share this with Zuzu here, and now, but first... "Zuzu before I tell you, I need you to swear to me, you will not tell anyone else for now." Zuzu blinked, and was about to say something when he opened his eyes toward her. "It's for their own safety, and to prevent mass panic on our hands. If you keep this to yourself, you will understand why I have to do this."
Zuzu frowned at this. She hates lying, and anything to keep the truth to herself but if it's to find out why their memories were altered she is willing to do so. "Fine Declan, I won't tell anyone."
"Wait, Declan, are you really going to tell her?"
"We had a great mother, and she won fair, and square." Declan spoke to the woman to remind her as she grunted. She can't stop him from explaining even if she wanted to, she knows the kind of person her boy is. Then he looked over towards Zuzu. "Now for your answer Zuzu, to put it simply our world is the target of an invasion."
"Invasion?"
"Dimensional Conflict." Declan confirmed towards her while she looked shocked. He had expected that kind of reaction, not many people would believe that Dimensions are colliding with each other. "We are under threat of an attack by, Duel Academy of the Fusion Dimension." Duel Academy... wasn't that the place that Yuto talked about in his duel with Sylvio? That seems to be the place. And Fusion Dimension? Now Yuto's words make a whole lot more sense. He said that Fusion was the weapon of their enemies, he's talking about the Fusion Dimension. "Shay, and Yuto are both residents of a neighboring Dimension, the Xyz Dimension. They came, and had attacked Leo Students in order to bring me out, as they thought I'm an ally to the Fusion Dimension."
"Why is that?"
"We use Fusion Summoning like their enemies do." Declan spoke over towards her to explain that. "And the connection is that I am the son of the leader of the Fusion Dimension." He's what? Declan is the son of Yuto, and Shay's arch-enemy? So why are they allied with him then, and doesn't that mean that the Fusion Dimension already controls Paradise City then? "However, I am intending to face my father by forming the Lance Defence Soldiers or Lancers, a group of Duel Soldiers who will protect the Dimensions from Duel Academy."
"So... is that why everything is so secretive? For these Lancers?"
"I am working to save our world Zuzu. And now you've gotten deeper involved than anyone else here." Declan spoke to her before then turning to the sky. Watching as the clouds rolled by, he continued his words. "I altered Kit, Dipper, and Julia's memories so that they can't be hindered. Their Duel with Shay was a traumatizing experience, and it would mess with their confidence, and ability if they remember while working to be Lancers. By altering their memories their confidence is never shaken, and with Shay, and Yuto, we have 2 Lancers to scout for more potential Lancers against Duel Academy."
"But you're still twisting people for this fight!" Zuzu spoke over as he turned to him. "Don't you realize the lengths that Shay, and Yuto are going through for Duel Academy!? Shay almost killed Dan in his duel with him!" Riley gasped in horror hearing that, while the woman widened her eyes, and Declan looked indifferent but had a glint in his eyes. "I can only assume Yuto prevented him from doing that cause he had left one of his cards to Dan! And you're trying to fight your own father, who is invading the Dimensions! What exactly is the point of us fighting him!?"
"Yuto, and Shay's world was in ruins." Zuzu gasped when Declan began answering her questions. "Nothing was safe, even innocents, and those who weren't duelists were captured by Duel Academy's elite soldiers, the Obelisk Force. They destroyed their city, captured a lot of their friends, and some even died in the conflict. Someone close to them was also captured, so they swear to get her back by traveling here. They mistaken you for that person." Lulu... "But now they are working with me as we have a common enemy. And now Zuzu, I am interested in how you will develop more as a Lancer, I urge you not to lose. And remember not to tell anyone."
"...For how long?"
"Until the time is right." Declan spoke before hearing a beeping looking at his Duel Disk. "The Arc-League's matches will be beginning shortly." He then looked over towards her. "You better get to your school before you miss their duel. I will be keeping an eye on you, by defeating me, you already proved your worth as a Lancer at this point." He then patted Riley's head before he, and the woman walked off towards somewhere leaving Riley, and Zuzu there while the older girl was looking down.
That was certainly a lot to think about... a whole Dimension using Fusion Summoning will be attacking their world at any moment, and Declan is preparing for people to be ready by using the Arc-League Championship as an excuse to prepare themselves. And now it makes sense, Julia, Dipper, and Kit's memories were altered for their safety to keep what they experienced from interfering in their lives for now on, and that Yuto, and Shay mistaken her for Lulu while claiming Fusion is evil from their enemies using it.
And now she knows the truth but to her frustration she can't reveal it to anyone yet. Yuya, Allie, Sora, her father... Dan... everyone, she can't tell them the truth yet. She hopes that pretty soon, she will tell them of what's going on, but until then the Arc-League is ahead. So she shakes her head smiling gently to Riley. "So Riley...?" She knows she's Allie's opponent, so she wants the two to be close because her match is a little after Frederick's. Riley looked over to her as she offered a hand. "Why don't you come with me so we can see You Show's duels together?" Riley stares before slowly taking her hand as Zuzu smiles before they walk together to try finding You Show to watch the duels.
This will certainly be suspenseful for a while.
Well certainly an outcome, I was sure would happen. Declan is powerful but so was Zuzu. And I had tested over some moves, and from the way it went on EDOPRO, the instances happen without interruption, and other stuff. And Zuzu's secret weapon were the Pendulum cards that she had obtained. To make it clear when Ray manifested to save Dan from Shay's attack that would've killed him, she also formed those Pendulum cards that Zuzu has as with Zarc, she's also one of the true creators of Pendulum Summoning.
Now that this match is done, we can now get into the Arc-League, and will start with Allie against Riley in a remastered duel. Riley will still use the Burning Abyss cards although I had modernized, and updated my Burning Abyss strategies for her to get more, and do more than originally. And Allie will have more than just Graydle Dragon this time, but we will see what exactly happens next time. Be sure to ask questions, and be sure to review!
