I wanted to be at the house when Damon and Stefan had their conversation, but then I remembered that Stefan was going to sleep in and I needed to get to school. I put on a blue sweater and brown pleated skirt with some tights since it was supposed to be cold later. I was starting to feel pretty comfortable wearing skirts. It surprised me how much I was starting to like them. Maybe it was because I had been here for almost five months now that I was starting to get used to it.

After I got breakfast, I noticed that Stefan didn't seem to be up yet.

"Stefan, we need to get ready for school." I told him. He didn't respond. I thought maybe I should go and check on him. Granted, his best friend had just died, so maybe he was too sad to come to school. Unfortunately, I didn't have the luxury of skipping. "Stefan you have two minutes before I leave without you."

He didn't come down. It looked like I would have to go with him.

I met up with Elena and Caroline when we got to school. I wanted to talk to her about last night and what Damon had said to her. I kind of hoped that she had forgotten about it in her drunkenness because it was horrible.

"I don't get it." The brunette remarked. I didn't even get we there were talking about. "Why are you and Bonnie fighting?"

"It's simple. She's a thief. I gave her my necklace and now she won't give it back." Caroline replied. Was that the necklace that Damon had told me about?

"Be the bigger person." Elena suggested. I didn't really understand what that meant. I did know that I couldn't really be bigger than anyone with how short I was.

"That's impossible with her." Caroline argued. She was bigger than all of us.

"That's it. I'm out of it." Elena declared. I wished that I knew more about what was going on. I knew that I was friends with both Bonnie and Caroline…and I might have had crushes on both of them, but I wasn't sure if either of them would be interested in that. Was I supposed to have a love interest on this show if I was a character now? Didn't most of the important characters have love interests? To be fair, I was pretty sure Damon didn't have one either.

The other thing that I knew was that there was supposed to be a new History teacher today. From what I had heard, he seemed like a cool guy. He seemed like he knew what he was doing as well. He had to be better than Tanner.

"Good morning, everyone." He greeted before he started to write his name on the board. "Alaric Saltzman. It's a mouthful, I know. It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Saltzman is of German origins, but I'm from Boston. Now the name Alaric belongs to a very dead great-grandfather I will never be able to thank enough. So you can call me Ric. I'm your new History teacher."

I couldn't help but think that there was something a little fishy about him, but I couldn't quite place it. As I was walking out of class, I couldn't help but run into someone. She was Asian with red streaks in her hair and she looked a little bit gothic.

"Sorry." I apologized.

"No, it was my fault." She remarked. "I'm Anna."

"Faith." I responded. "I don't think I've ever seen you around here before."

"That's because I'm new. Maybe I'll see you around, but I need to get to class."

That was weird. I couldn't help but wonder if this girl was going to be important later because TV shows liked to do that. I supposed that I would just have to wait until I saw her again.

I met up Bonnie and Elena at lunch. I imagined that Caroline was giving me the evil eye for fraternizing with the enemy. I wasn't going to stop being friends with either of them just because the two of them were fighting.

"So then I woke up at Fell's Church." Bonnie stated. She didn't really explain how that happened. Had sleepwalked or had she teleported? Were witches able to teleport in this universe? I wasn't sure if there was a way to find out other than talking to Bonnie's Grams. I hadn't met the woman, but she didn't really sound that favorable. I only knew that Bonnie was a witch because Stefan had told me.

"So do you think that you were sleepwalking or something?" I asked. I still would like to know her opinion.

"Do you believe in ghosts?" She responded.

"Yes." I replied as both of them looked at me. What was wrong with believing in ghosts? I was pretty sure that Sam believed in them too. "We have witches, so why can't we have ghosts?

"I think that I'm being haunted." Bonnie stated.

"Are you sure that it's Emily?" Elena asked. So Emily was the ghost that was haunting her, but why?

"Grams said that she was this powerful witch during the Civil War." Bonnie explained. "She also said that this medallion was hers. It's supposed to be some kind of witch's talisman or something. All I know is that it started as soon as I put it around my neck. I think she's trying to communicate with me."

"What does Grams say about it?" Elena questioned. It all sounded pretty complicated, but I also didn't know very much about magic. I wondered if I was going to learn more about it in this episode or something.

"I can't talk to her. She'll tell me to embrace it. I don't wanna embrace it." Bonnie answered. I was pretty sure that was she was supposed to do. "I want it to stop."

After school, I was with Elena when I suddenly noticed that Stefan was there. He didn't look like he was particularly happy to see his girlfriend.

"Faith said that you didn't come with her. I was worried." I remarked.

"I got your messages, but I figured that I should say what I needed to say to in person." He stated. Elena looked at me, but I didn't know what he was going to say.

"A simple text saying that you didn't kill your brother would have worked." I quipped.

"I didn't kill my brother." He stated. "As much as he deserved it, I couldn't. He has Faith to thank for that."

"So what did you need to tell me then?" She asked. Apparently, she didn't need to know how I had convinced Stefan not to kill Damon.

"I'm not coming to school anymore." He declared. What? "I want to back off and keep my distance. It's the right thing to do."

"Are you backing off from school or from me?" I questioned. Was he breaking up with her? "Stefan, I don't understand why. What did I do?"

"You didn't do anything." He replied. If she hadn't done anything, why was he breaking up with her? "It's just better for us to not be together."

"You can't do this." I told him.

"You're angry." He noted. I didn't think that she looked particularly angry. She looked upset but not angry. "That's good. It'll be better if you hate me."

He walked off and she began to cry.

"I'll go talk to him." I promised. I needed to figure out why he was suddenly no longer in love with Elena.

When I got home, I found him with Damon.

"You need some coffee." Damon told him. "Come on. Drink up. It does dead flesh good. Okay I'm sorry. I got the council off our backs."

"Because obviously I realize killing your best friend was not only a vile thing, but also worthy of humor." Stefan remarked. What was he doing?

"Are mimicking me?" Damon asked. Oh, he was doing a Damon impression. I didn't think it was a particularly good one.

"Yes, Stefan." He replied. "Now that the Secret Society of Vampire Haters is off our backs, I can go back to my plan of finding new ways to ruin my brother's life."

"I can go back to brooding and pining over Elena." Damon stated. He then went into an aside. "This is fun. I like it."

"You better not have an impression of me." I declared. I did wonder what his impression but I didn't want to see it.

"And I'll finally reveal my diabolical master plan and its ulterior motive." Stefan retorted.

"Yeah, I'm done playing." Damon replied. Did Stefan think that was going to work? "That's just like you Damon. You always have to mess things up."

Damon then walked off.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked him. "Why did you break up with Elena? You just said that you loved her."

"It was the right thing to do, Faith." He argued. Before I could say anything else, my phone rang. It was Elena. I couldn't help but wonder if something else had happened. I knew that Bonnie was supposed to be spending the night at her place…because I was also supposed to be spending the night at her place, but I wasn't sure if I was going to go or not.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey, I need to talk to you about something." She told me. "Do you think that you could possibly bring Stefan over to my house? It's really important."

"We'll be right over." I promised. I then looked at Stefan. "So you heard that, right?"

"We should head over there." He replied.

We got in my car and headed out to the Gilbert house. I thought about grabbing a night bag, but I still wasn't sure if I was going to stay or not. I just had a feeling that I wouldn't be. We went there and knocked on the door. Apparently, she didn't want us to come inside. Something had definitely happened and we needed to figure out what it was.

"Hey." Elena greeted them before she gave both of us a hug. "Thanks for coming. I'm sorry for calling but it's urgent."

"What is it?" I asked. That was probably the easiest way to find out.

"Bonnie was at school today talking to Damon." Elena explained. What had he said to her? "He threatened her, Stefan."

"Why Damon even talking to Bonnie in the first place?" Stefan mused.

"She has this necklace." Elena declared. Why did Damon want this necklace so badly? "Damon gave it to Caroline and Caroline gave it to her and now he wants it back and is antagonizing her about it."

"Over a necklace?" Stefan asked in confusion. There was a term for those. McMuffins? No, I didn't think that was it.

"It's not just any necklace." Elena explained. "It has to do with Bonnie's heritage. She said it belonged to one of her ancestors who lived here during the Civil War…when you did."

"Her name was Emily." Stefan remarked. "She was Katherine's handmaiden and also a witch like Bonnie."

"You know about Bonnie?" Elena asked in surprise.

"We keep track of this stuff as part of family heritage." I explained. "Stefan told me about her and Emily a few weeks ago. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you earlier."

"So what did the necklace look like?" Stefan questioned. I wondered if I had seen it before. I hadn't really ever been to Caroline's house and I hadn't been to Bonnie's house in a while.

"It's got this gold setting with an amber crystal." Elena replied. That didn't sound like one that I had seen…wait I was pretty sure Bonnie was wearing it on Halloween.

"It was Katherine's Emily must have given it to her." Stefan responded as he paced the porch. So now Katherine was involved in this too? This was getting more and more convoluted. "I'll find out what Damon wants with it."

"So Faith, did you want to spend the night by any chance?" Elena asked with a blush.

"I'd love to, but I think I need to help Stefan with this." She replied. I kind of did want to get out of the sleepover and it looked like I had found my reason to. "Damon likes me more than him."

Stefan and I found Damon at the Grill by the bar with a bottle in front of him. I didn't know exactly what it was, but I had a feeling that I wouldn't be drinking any of it.

"So Stefan." The younger brother stated. That got Damon's attention. I thought they were done with that. "I think we should start over and give this sibling thing another chance. We used to be so close long ago."

"I don't Damon." He responded. "I don't trust you because you're so mean and you kill everyone and you're so mean and…I give up. You know you are a very hard person to imitate."

"I need two coffees." Stefan told the bartender. I wished that he had asked because I would rather had a Pepsi. "So, why the bottle?"

"I'm on edge because of your diet." Damon answered. Why exactly was he adopting Stefan's diet. I mean it would probably be a good idea for him not to drink from people, but Lexi drank from blood bags and he probably could too.

"No one said that you had to adopt Stefan's diet." I declared. "You could leave and hurt people somewhere else."

"I like it on the edge." Damon commented as our coffees arrived. It looked like I would have to drink that. "I don't need you two to babysit me."

"That's good because it's not why we're here." I told him.

"Then why are you here?" He asked.

"We want to have a bit of a family night." I stated as I noticed that Jenna and Jeremy were there. Also Mr. Saltzman was there, but I wasn't going to talk to any of them.

We began to play darts and I couldn't help but notice that Stefan was very good at the game. It was much different from seeing it on the TV. I hadn't really seen anyone play darts before to be honest. He threw his third in a row right at the bullseye.

"Nice shot." I commented.

"Thanks, it's a skill 145 years in the making." He replied.

"You're beating me." Damon remarked as he wrote down the score. I didn't know how the scoring went to be honest.

"Yeah, that's because I'm better than you." Stefan stated. I hoped that we would be able to convince the two of them to open up to each other and more importantly find out Stefan's secret.

"I'm onto you." Damon declared. "I know you two are up to something."

"Do you prefer me to be broody?" Stefan asked.

"What game are you playing?" Damon responded.

"You know that's been the exact thing that we've been wondering since you got here." I pointed out. "It must be very frustrating not to know the answer."

I then headed to the bathroom and as I came out, I nearly ran into Anna again.

"We have to stop meeting like this." She said.

"Yeah it sounds like it could hurt if we do." I quipped. "So are you here by yourself?'

"Yeah. Do you want to play some foosball with me?" She asked.

"I would but I'm kind of busy with my family." I stated as I noticed that Damon was going outside and quickly walked after him.

After we were done with the Grill, we headed to the football field. Stefan had acquired a football from an unspecified location. Seriously, they never explained on the show where he had gotten it from. I couldn't help but wonder if I was supposed to the cheerleader. I didn't have any pompoms. I definitely was not dressed to play football.

"You wanna play?" Stefan asked.

"You know you wouldn't even know how to play this game if not for me." Damon pointed out.

"Just go long." I stated. I still wanted to play because I hadn't played since I was in high school. I threw the ball to Damon and he caught it before Stefan tackled him. I then ran over and picked it up and ran into the endzone. I didn't know if the NFL would consider that a catch

The two of them began to lay on the grass and I decided to go over and join them. I didn't put my head down because I wasn't interesting in getting dirt and grass in my hair. I was kind of kind of nice to be out there with the two of them. I hadn't just sat and looked at the stars in a while.

"Fuck that hurt." Damon groaned.

"That's what happens when you choose my diet." Stefan declared.

"You two have really impressed me tonight. It's been a night of booze and football and not the stars." Damon replied. He then sat up and looked at us. "What do you want?"

"It wasn't real, Damon." Stefan explained. What was he talking about? How did this have anything to do with the crystal? He needed to get to the point. "Our love for Katherine wasn't real. She compelled us. It took me years to determine that."

"We are not going there, tonight, Stefan." Damon stated as he got up.

"What do you want with the crystal?" I asked as I also got up. He looked at me in surprise. "Stefan told me that you were trying to steal Katherine's necklace from Bonnie."

"How did you know about that?" He questioned in surprise.

"You knew that Elena would tell us." I pointed out before Stefan stood up

"I mean how did you know it was Katherine's?" He clarified. Was I not supposed to know it was Katherine's? "Emily gave it to her on her last night. I was with her that night, but Stefan wasn't."

"I was the last one to see her before she was taken." Stefan stated. Damon looked genuinely shocked.

"I could rip your heart out." Damon remarked.

"I doubt that." Stefan responded before Damon started to walk away. He then turned around.

"I have a surprise for you two. I'm gonna bring her back." He declared.

"What do you mean bring her back?" I asked. That must have been why they were talking about her so much. "You can't just bring someone back from the dead."

"Did you that witches can channel celestial events? Neither did I, but I asked Emily for help, and she created a tomb underneath the church. When we thought she was burning inside the church, she was safely in the church."

"So, she's alive?' I asked.

"If you want to call it that, but we know what happens when a vampire doesn't feed." He explained.

"Why would Emily help you?" I asked.

"Because she knew that they would come for her too." Damon answered. "She asked me to keep her lineage alive."

"You saved her children, but I could never figure out why." Stefan stated. How old was Emily? Also, that would have been some nice information to know ahead of time.

"It's the only thing preventing me from ripping that Bonnie chick's throat to get my necklace back." Damon explained. Well, there was that and the fact that she was one of the main characters. "Oh well, a deal is a deal."

My phone then rang again and once again it was Elena.

"What's wrong?" I asked her. I assumed something was wrong because she was calling me.

"It's Bonnie. Emily is possessing her. She said something weird before she walked off." She told me. What the fuck? Now I was really glad that I hadn't come to the sleepover.

"What'd she say?" I questioned.

"She said 'I won't let him have it. It must be destroyed.' and then she left." Elena declared. "I think that she went to Fell's Church. We have to help her, Faith."

"Stay there and Stefan and I will her." I instructed. I had a feeling that she wouldn't stay there, but I felt the need to say it anyway.

I hung up but I noticed that Damon was already gone. It looked like he also wanted to go there.

When we got there, we found Damon impaled on a tree. Emily was preparing a spell.

"Hello, Stefan." She greeted him.

"Emily." She responded.

"Hey, Emily, I'm Faith. Can you please stop possessing my friend's body." I requested. I didn't think it would work, but maybe it would.

"As soon as I am finished." Emily answered. Yeah, it didn't work. Stefan went over to help Damon.

"Screw this. I'm going back to human." Damon remarked. "Emily, I'll kill you."

"These people shouldn't have to know such evil. I won't let you release them." She replied.

"Them?" I asked. I then looked at Damon. "What part of the story didn't you tell us?"

"Does it matter?" He retorted.

"In order to save her, I had to save all of them." Emily explained.

"That's what this is about. It's about revenge." Stefan said.

"It's both. They killed 27 people and called it a war battle." Damon remarked.

"They were vampires Damon. 27 vampires." I pointed out. "You can't just let them out and punish innocent people."

"They are not innocent." Damon argued. "And don't think they won't burn you little grandwitch just like they you."

"I won't." Emily repeated as she built a circle of fire around herself.

"Please don't do this." Damon begged.

"Incindia." Emily shouted as she threw the crystal in the air.

"Bonnie!" Elena shouted as she arrived, and Stefan held her back. At that point, the crystal exploded and Emily…no Bonnie looked dazed.

After being released, Bonnie looked around in the confusion before Damon lunged at her and bit her neck. Fortunately, Stefan tore her off before he could kill her.

"She's alive but just barely." He stated. "I can save her."

He made her drink his blood and the wounds began to heal. It was still shocking to see that.

"It's healing." Elena declared. She really didn't need to point out the obvious.

A few minutes later, I found Damon sitting on a stump. He looked like he was sad. Maybe he actually did love Katherine. I didn't know he was capable of having such complex emotions but I kind of felt that I should hug him.

"Katherine never compelled." He stated. "I knew everything. It was real for me. I'll leave now."

I then looked over and saw that Elena was trying to console a confused for Bonnie and walked over to them.

"Elena, what's going on?" Bonnie asked with tears in her eyes. "I don't understand."

"I promise that I'll explain everything when we get home." Elena told her.

"I'm not gonna hurt you." Stefan told Bonnie. Elena then took her to wait in the car.

"You saved her life." Elena stated. She looked so thrilled, but something told me that Stefan didn't have the same sentiments. "Stefan, you don't have to push me away. I can do this."

"I can't." He declared. I was right. "Too many people have gotten hurt or died. I just need to move on. You'll be better off without me in your life."

"Stefan, please don't go." She sniffled. "I know you think that you're protecting me, but I feel a lot safer with you here then I was before. Please stay with me."

Now part of me thought that I really should stay over. I kind of felt like I needed to say something to her.

"I know it might not mean very much, but I'm not going to anywhere." I remarked. "In fact, I'm going to try my best to get them to stay. I would stay over, but I think that is more important for both of us right now."

I then walked over to my car and drove back home. I was pretty sure that they wouldn't just leave, and I didn't think it was the end of the season either, but I still didn't know what to do.

So Faith now has to find a way to keep her new brothers in town. Fortunately, she's going to succeed. Also, Anna made an appearance. Please don't forget to review.
