Twins Missing in Dual Worlds: Chapter 31 Gone fishing.

Finally, it was a quiet day, and Mabel and Polly were planning on spending the day chilling.

"Got any fours?" Mabel asked.

"Mabel we're playing Flipwart." Polly couldn't help but worry she wasn't joking.

"That doesn't answer my question," Mabel said with a big smile.

"No." She said, impressed that she stuck to it.

"Ah, man. You sunk my battleship." Mabel makes it impossible for her to tell what is happening in her mind.

"Okay, you're doing that on purpose." Polly heard her brother come down the stairs. She turned to see what he wanted.

"Polly Polly Polly, Mabel, Mabel, Mabel!" Sprig declare.

"Oh no. What happened this time?" Mabel shivers at getting in trouble with Dipper.

"Today is the day of the annual Planter fishing trip!" Sprig said so excited.

Polly smiled, "Oh that today must have forgotten." Polly said nonchalantly.

"How can you possibly forget the most important day of the year!?" Sprig asked.

"That's debatable," Polly said keeping her tone.

Mabel snickered at this.

"Mabel's excited for the fishing trip, aren't you?" Sprig said, so happy for all of this.

"I haven't gone fishing in a long time…" She had flashbacks when she and Dipper tried to get the picture of the Gobblewonker, only to end up fishing at the end.

Polly look at Mabel being weirder than normal, "You going to finish that thought or...what?"

Mabel snapped out of her daydream. "Meh, it's ok."

"Good thing I like ya," Polly said, putting up her Flipwart set. Mabel helped her clean up.

"How are you you are not so excited." Sprig was full of disbelief at this.

"It's nothing really. Just a little homesick." Mabel wonder when she goes home, maybe she could move to Gravity Falls.

Polly felt bad and rolled over rubbing her on the leg. "There there."

Mabel picked her up for a hug. "Thank you."

"Might as well go fishing, it might be fun," Polly suggested.

"Ya. Let's go." Mabel was up for adventure, plus she didn't get a picture of the Moss man, so she might be able to find him while fishing.

"Hop Pop should be on the boat now." He said getting the door for them. Sprig was hopping up and down in excitement by this.

"Well, no time like the present. After you." She said, letting Polly go in before her.

Hop Pop was wearing what looked like a vacation outfit. He was wearing a pink button-up, and had a sweater over his shoulders, on his lower hat were some shorts and white shoes, and he had on a white cap with an anchor symbol on it. He looks like a dork.

"Oh, I need a picture of this." She would have to send a picture of this to Anne, she would love this.

"What with the new threads Hop Pop?" Polly asked.

Hop pop blushed. "Well, I decided to invite Sylvia. So I decided to spruce up the old fishing outfit for her. Have to make a good impression."

"Oh, that explains it," Polly said.

Mabel turned her head and noticed Sprig's mouth drop.

"He bringing someone else?" Sprig asked in disbelief.

"What's wrong Sprig?" Mabel did not see the big deal, while Polly was apathetic to all of this.

"Fishing day is supposed to just be a Planters thing." Sprig didn't know how to feel about this.

"So? I was invited?" Mabel reminded him.

"Oh no," Polly said, worried about how that would go.

"Your family though." Sprig said, not giving a second thought.

"Oh, thank goodness." Polly was worried that it would go down horribly.

"As long as we still get some time with Hop Pop." Sprig was determined to make this amazing.

"I'm sure you will silly." Mabel knew he needed encouragement.

"I guess that's not too much trouble...where is Polly?" Sprig looked all around the back porch only to notice she was on the ship. Somehow while they were talking they went to the mud pit for the worms.

"Uh oh! Not it." Mabel placed her finger on her nose.

"Not it...darn it." Sprig said, he put his finger on his snot too slowly for this.

Mabel laughed at him.

Sprig leaps onto the board of the ship. He didn't notice as Sylvia got near them.

"Greetings there." She said, "Oh Mabel I was curious if you were coming aboard." She was sweet but didn't know much about how things work for the planters on this ship. "Do you need help?" Since she was taller than the human child.

Mabel smiled. "Sure thanks," she didn't really need help but figured she'd be polite.

She picks up the girl by her hips and helps her on the ladder. "Glad to help ya." Sylive believes that children need someone to look after them.

"So do you like fishing?" Mabel asked, no harm in learning about the people she would be handling.

"Not really, but I figure it best to try to learn how to do it while I am still young," Sylive said, she did have quite a bit of energy for her age.

Mabel grinned. "I'll show you what I know. But I'm not very good at it."

"Why aren't you as sweet as a June bug." She said, using those old people phrases that made no sense to Mabel but not insane enough to get them condemned either.

Mabel laughed at that. "You're the type of crazy I can get along with."

She follows her up. She was excited about how much Hopediah spoke of it. She chuckles, "Looks like your sister is out." She told Mabel, see saw Mabel that way.

"Looks like it," Mabel said, she was kinda happy people saw her as a Plantar of sorts.

"Last chance if you need anything because once we set sails, we set sails." Hop Pop said, but he doubted that would be a problem.

"To adventure!" She ran around, this should be a fun relaxing day.

He raises up the anchor. "Now Polly, Sprig the anchor is not a toy, do not mess with the anchor. I am looking at you, Mabel." Hop Pop said, watching all of this.

"So what are you thinking will ruin our day this time?" Polly asked Mabel.

"Sprig. Definitely Sprig," Mabel could see him glaring at Sylvia.

"I was putting my money on the giant monster to ruin our day, followed by position to ruin our day, then again an army of tiny monsters to ruin our day, we have yet to have an elemental to ruin our day," Polly said, going to list off more.

Mabel laughed. Thinking how crazy it is that this is normal. Dipper would have loved this.

"I am going to catch a fish as big as you," Polly said wanting to be competitive with her. Polly wanted to pump up her blood.

"You got this!" Mabel Hollered.

She smiles Happily grabbing what looks like a harpoon, "I am going to get it good." She said, holding up the brown harpoon longer than Mabel was tall.

"How are you able to lift that?" Mabel was impressed by all of this.

"I am eighty-five percent muscle Mabel," Polly said, flexing to show how awesome she was.

"That is actually impressive," Mabel said, she knew who the muscles here were.

"Thank you, I Am the perfect frog." Polly said, "IF only I had some legs." She said, looking down on her lack of a lower half of her body.

Mabel knew she should learn more about this place, "When do they usually grow?"

"About Five and a half." Polly said, "That's what they keep telling me."

"And how old are you?"

"Five-ish." She said Polly threw the harpoon hard, luck missing all the unfortunate fish that would be her victims.

"So they should be no time!" Mabel was happy to hear that her friend could help.

"I keep expecting them but nothing is happening. How long did it take you to get your legs?" She asked, not understanding human nature.

She laughed. "Born with them." Mabel slapped her legs to prove her point for some reason.

"Lucky," Polly said, so jealous at this, why does Mabel get all the body parts?

"In that way, yes. But human kids your age don't get to do all the fun things you do." Mabel couldn't jump as high as Polly, and she didn't have legs.

"So what you're saying is that I am the most amazing person alive," Polly said, pulling the harpoon back as she not so humble bragged.

Mabel patted her head. "You sure are Polly."

Polly gave the rope a harder tug, "I am going to catch me a mega fish." She said, determined to prove herself.

"Be safe little ones." Sylvia said worried for the two of them, "We don't need you to get hurt."

Mabel raises her hand up and flips it down, "Relax. You worry too much." She never had a grandmother figure like that before.

"Quiet, if we play our cards we might get in the will," Polly said Polly kept her eyes on getting money from inherent.

"You're so silly," Mabel said, she wasn't so focused on money. Polly shrugs at this. "Let's see what we can catch!" Mabel turned her head to find a fishing rod, Polly would get it all. All of the money, and all of the fish in this lake. Mabel hoped the boat would survive Polly' Wraith.

"You both are so talented," Syliva said, the frog giving a little pinch to Mabel's cheek.

"Don't patronize me." Polly didn't like being belittled like this.

Mabel figured Sylvia was just weird like that. She blush at this.

"Why do I smell peppers?" Polly asked it smells like Hop Pop disgusting pain peppers." She turned her body wondering where the smell was coming from.

Mabel looked too. "Oh, we gotta stop Sprig."

"Agree, just let me catch something," Polly said. The pollywog was not in any real hurry to help out her potential future grandmother.

"I don't think we can enjoy ourselves under he calms down." Mabel did not trust her pseudo-brother at this.

"You get used to it, but if it helps you I'll deal with it." Polly would do so in a way only she could.

Mabel smiled braces on display. "Thanks."

Polly jumped on Sprig and started to open a can of whoop [Censor by Disney] on him. "Stop it, stop it, stop it!" The pain peppers were thrown out the side of the ship and neither of the adults noticed what was going on.

Mabel went to Sprig. "Why are you trying to ruin everyone's day?"

"I am not, I am just trying to spend more time with Hop Pop." Sprig said.

"Don't try that on me. Don't you remember the library? Mabel was sure she had a scar from that stunt.

"What I am." Sprig said.

Mabel gave him the stare. "Mabel spare a thought for me, this is my world and you're just visiting," Polly said she was actually very used to this. "At Least the boat isn't rocky."

"Let's talk this out, Polly would you kindly?" Mabel asked. Polly got off her brother. "Now be nice Sprig." She shakes shaking her finger at him. He grumbled at this. "Hey, I am being serious." She said, munching on the candy didn't help her point.

"Whatever you say, Mabel." Sprig's voice, made it sound like 'I've already stopped listening to you'.

Mabel noticed this, so would keep an eye on him.

"Come along Mabel we got fishing to do." She said.

She went with her but tried to keep an eye on Sprig. She got distracted so decided to focus on some fishing, tossing out her line. Stan would be proud. She would have to show off to Dipper soon. She started to feel sad again.

"What's wrong?" Polly asked, Mabel's general vibe was giving her away her depression.

She rubbed her eye, getting some of her tears in her sweater sleeve. "It's nothing."

"Are you surrrreee?" She asked, Polly didn't believe her and had a feeling she would have to deal with that.

Mabel got on one knee and hugged her. "I just miss my family."

"I think that talking about it is the best thing to do." Polly was just lying in her arms.

"I haven't seen my family in so long."

"I know what it is like not to see a parent," Polly said, they had that much in common and might as well use it to bond.

"Right. I've never seen your parents." Mabel knew why but felt it would be a sore spot to reveal.

"They are not around, we do not talk about it," Polly said.

"Ok," Mabel didn't push it.

Polly smiled, she then asked, "Hey Mabel what are your thoughts on Sylvia."

"She seems nice enough." Mabel always felt off with people outside of the Planters for some reason.

"I just hope she doesn't belittle me, I am a force of nature," Polly said, her face getting wrinkled up to show she was serious.

"Of course you are."

"Thank you, that's why I like you so much...that and the free candy." She said. Mabel snorted at that.

"Hey, a girl has to know what she likes," Polly said.

"I know that feeling." Mabel turned to see Sylvia was watching them. Mabel waves happily at her.

Polly felt the rope tugged, "Oh I think I got one." She said. Mabel rushed to assist her. She yanked it hard sadly it landed on Mabel's face.

Mabel just laughed it off. "Tastes a little fishy."

"You're slimy now," Polly said.

Sylvia saw this walk over to Mabek and started to clean her face with a handkerchief.

"Hahaha, that tickles!" Mabel said she felt the wet cloth cool her face with every swipe.

"Hold still sweetheart, we don't want to miss a spot." She said, her voice suggesting she wanted to help as opposed to any form of annoyance.

"It's ok really." Mabel gently removes the frog's hand from her person.

"Don't you worry about it?" She said the old lady frog pat Mabel on the head. Causing a few strains of Mabel's hair to float as her hand left it. She was a little embarrassed.

"Better you than me Mabel girl." Polly then threw her hook again wanting more and more delicious fish.

She stuck her tongue out at her. "Your tongue is so tiny," she said.

"Mabel that is rude." She scolds. Sylvia apparently decided she was an authority figure here.

Polly knew she had to make herself look busy, not noticing Sprig.

Mabel saw a fish flying above the deck level and came down again, she was distracted from what Sprig was doing.

He got a fan bug ready to blow her hairstyle into a mess. (edited)

Mabel tried to react as Wind hit Sylvia. But it was too late, why did she allow herself to get so distracted?

Her hair blew beautifully in the wind in response. Waving up and down as the waves beneath them were. Polly was happily in her own little world unaware of what was going on. Mabel was glad this could get out of trouble. "Hey, Polly!"

"Huh, did something happen?" Polly asked, she held the harpoon and laid it down wanting to see what Mabel wanted to happen.

"Sprig tried to use a fan to blow her off the deck," Mabel said.

"So Sprig is dumb, and the sky is blue." Polly didn't look up to her brother at this.

"He could also ruin this day for everyone." Mabel wanted to make sure everyone was happy during their trip.

"He better do it away from me, or I will use my harpoon on him," Polly said, dead serious. "You can't change a tiger fish of its stripes, so why bother?" she asked, Polly was easygoing.

"Because he could hurt someone."

"If he does something like that, I'll stop him." She promises, Polly only half paying attention. She wanted to go back to fishing.

"But you would have to follow him around. You didn't even notice the last thing he did."

"And no one got hurt. Funny how that works." Polly said.

Mabel sighed. "I'm serious."

"YOu worry way too much." She said, Polly knew she could manage if things went south.

"Really, how am I the worrywart here?" Mabel tilted her head at the situation.

"Glad the two of us are on the same page."

Mabel could not believe Polly was so dismissive.

Sprig used his tongue to try to get her to fall off the boat.

Sylvia grabbed onto the anchor, started to swing on it, and managed to get enough force to send her in the air, Sylvia landed behind her forming a 'Y' pose.

Everyone was in shock.

"Did something happen?" She asked, the older lady turned around as if expecting to see something bizarre behind her, confused when she saw nothing there. "Mabel you know it's rude to stare."

"You almost died!" Mabel was amused by seeing that she managed to escape death.

"Really, I didn't notice," Sylvia said, her voice suggesting she was just being humbled.

Mabel was wondering how strong this lady was. Was it something all frogs had in the world of Amphibia? Poly was abnormally strong too. Does Mabel wish she could be that strong, either way, it going to the Mabel Journal, Jourbel?

Polly sneezed, "Someone must be thinking about me."

Mabel laughed at that.

"Need a handkerchief, dear," Sylvia said, handing over a pink handkerchief.

"No way, my hands need to be free," Polly said. Mabel watched this. Polly squirmed and tried to roll away at this, but the older frog was determined. Mabel found it so adorable and couldn't help but laugh.

"You made an enemy for life Mabel," Polly said, pointing and accusing Mabel of this.

"Love you too!" Mabel would have to introduce her to Dipper one day.

She looked mad at her, she probably would not do anything about it. "I am just going to get dirty once again," Polly said, trying to roll away. Hop Pop chuckles, glad to see his date was so good with the kids.

"I remember making that argument." Mabel felt like a kid again.

Sprig grabbed a large hook.

Polly was facing the water, "Mabel five o'clock." She said wiggling the string to see if she got anything.

"Uh oh!" Mabel said she couldn't believe she forgot about that. Polly hummed not caring for what going on. Mabel scolds herself for focusing. Sprig through the hook. But missed and it went in the water and got caught on a rock.

"Excellent, I can use this to cut the sandwich." Sylvia use the string of the hook to cut her sandwich in two. Sprig facepalmed.

"Do you want me to make you a sandwich kids?" She asked.

"No way lady, I am going to be catching my own lunch today," Polly said rudely to Sylvia.

Sprig just started to scheme.

She smiles, "Your granddaughter is so independent Hopediah. You must be so proud." She said, "My Ivy the same way."

"Yea. She sure is a good girl." Hop Pop was so happy to see the three of them not getting themself killed.

Polly tugged hard, getting a fish three times her size on the boat. "That looks so good."

Mabel clapped. "Good job!"

"Better keep up Mabel, you never catch the biggest fish at this rate." She said, her voice suggesting a healthy competition.

Mabel grinned. "Oh, you are on!"

She aimed looking for something else she could impale with her spear. There was a dark shadow. Polly tossed at it with all her might, straining her tiny body with the throw. It started jetting.

"It's a big one," Polly said.

"You gotta catch it!" Mabel said, so excited.

"I would like help from someone with legs, possibly wearing a sweater," Polly said.

"I wonder who she is talking about?" Mabel asked curious.

"Hey, Silky want to help?" She asked, the young tadpole mispronounced the older frog's name.

"Sylvia, but thank you."

Mabel laughed a little at that.

They tugged revealing what they found.

A lake monster!

"Looks at the mess you made Mabel, giant crab?" She asked, the baby passing the buck to the human

"Oh no you don't!"

"How the heck did that happen?" The frog boy said.

The girls pointed at each other

"Okay, we just need to do something to deal with it."

Sylvia was already fighting it.

"Sprig help her," Polly said

"No way!" Mabel said he haven't been impressing her at all today.

"We don't have much choice, Mabel." Polly scolded.

"A little help here Hop Pop," Polly said, she couldn't believe that they had their luck. Did Sprig do a marathon under a lot of ladders when she wasn't looking?

The two adults looked over and rushed in to help.

Polly and Mabel started to run back and forth on the deck.

Sylvia grabbed a rope and wrapped it around the creature's neck.

"We need to get it back into the water." Mabel said, "How do we do that?"

"Why are you asking me?" Sprig yelled out.

"Someone needs to hook it and drag it from an island. But it's dangerous."

"But who? Who I said, who?" Sprig said that Hop Pop was well within hearing range.

"I'll do it." The elder frog said proudly.

"No don't want to lose my Hop Pop." Sprig said hugging his leg.

"And I don't want to lose any of you more." Hop Pop remembers what would happen if he wasn't fast enough.

"This isn't how the day was supposed to go, it was supposed to just be the two of us like the good old days."

"Sprig things change. We have Polly, and Mabel, and even Sylvia in our lives. And each gives us joy."

"But it feels like we don't get any time anymore." Sprig said, he knew there were others but didn't want to lose his oldest family members.

"We do sprig. We just also get time with them too." He said putting his hand on Sprig's shoulder.

"Let me do it, I am younger and faster."

"I can't let you get hurt."

"I just want you to be safe, I won't lose you."

"I'm not arguing with you on this boi."

"Neither am I! Somebody help before this thing eats Mabel with a side of Butter already!" Polly yelled out. The giant crabbed bringing it up and down in an almost cutting motion.

"Wait what?" Mabel was frightened by what Polly said.

Sylvia leaped into action.

He leaps following his girlfriend.

The beast attacked the two of them.

"Get to its eyes, it is the beast's weak point." Hop Pop gives instructions as he dodges. He turned to see the state his grandchild was in, "Mabel Polly get somewhere safe."

Mabel grabbed Polly and ran.

"Okay Syliva, be fast." He instructed.

She grabbed the rope and jumped.

Hop Pop proceeded to tie around the beast claw wanting to keep it from cutting anyone.

They won!

"Let's go while we still can!" Polly said using most of her tiny lungs.

"It's ok children. It's ok." Hop Pop decided they needed some comfort.

"I thought I lost you." Sprig said hugging him.

He hugged her back.

"This was an eventful day," Syliva said, not used to life with the Plantar's.

"Gee, I wonder why," she glared at Sprig.

"Mabel it rude to stare." She said, being sweet to her. She gave Mabel a pat on the back. "You were brave helping out Polly like that." She said.

"Oh course. She's my friend." Mabel said as she felt Polly leap on her shoulder.

"I am just glad I can see three of you able to watch out for each other," Sylvia said.

They all look at each other at this.

My response: I think she could make that work, but I don't think she work for that little. Stan didn't teach no sucker.

I think the sock opera was amazing, even if the person she made it for wasn't worth it.
