Everyone was utterly stunned by what Hiccup had just done. In one fell swoop, he was able to render a good number of the Marines unconscious, including the executioners who were moments away from killing Ace.
"We're good! Ace is still alive, guys!"
Hiccup had also rendered a few of Stoick's men unconscious as well.
"Hey, pull it together, pal," said a pirate, holding one of the unconscious crewmembers. He then looked up at Hiccup. "That power it came from Hiccup."
Some of the Marines were somewhat shaken by what happened.
"What the?!"
"I almost passed out back there."
Hiccup was still charging towards the scaffold, utterly unaware of what happened as its focus was on Ace and nothing else.
Stoick just stood there staring at Hiccup, speechless.
The commander just stared at Hiccup.
"That was the Congress Spirit. Like Stoick and Alvin us."
"Guess it shouldn't come as a surprise given his heritage," Gobber winced.
Magnus narrowed his eyes at Hiccup. "I don't think he realises what he just did."
"I tell you, boys, we've got some scary stuff right here," said Kia.
Hawkeye just cut down one of Stoick's men and looked at Hiccup with intrigue.
Wrinkly looked at Hiccup. "He did learn that power. He was born with it."
"Just like Stoick," Ace gasped.
Vice-Admiral Doberman was the first to react. "If your will is weak, stand back! He is not just another rookie. Congress Spirit, huh? We cannot forget that he is the son of Stoick the Vast and Stormcutter. That is what we get for underestimating him."
"What next, Vice-Admiral?"
Mala looked at Hiccup, stunned. "My energy hormones didn't do that. Where did you pull those powers out of?"
"Power?" Hiccup frowned. "What do you mean?"
"We'll discuss it later," she said. 'He's not aware of it, that means we can't count on him using it again. Either way, it's no wonder that people are so drawn to him. The apple doesn't seem to fall far off the tree, does it, Valka Haddock?'
"Do not let that boy escape this battlefield!" Doberman ordered. "If he does, he'll turn into a dire threat to us. Dead or alive, you take him down."
The Marines roared as they raised their swords and promptly charged at Hiccup in full force. Stoick, however, responded by creating another shockwave, blowing them back.
"You're scared to death of my son and his old man," Stoick chuckled. "You were so cocky before, but where is your fire and now? I thought you wanted to kill me."
He then created another shockwave, blowing away even more Marines.
"Focus on Stoick first!" a Marine ordered. "He may be a monster, but he's injured. Take him down and then go for his kid."
"Just try it," Stoick taunted.
"Do not let a single marine layer hand on him!" Izo ordered.
The other commanders nodded and cheered along with Astrid and Jinbe.
"Do not be intimidated! Go!"
The Marines immediately charged in.
"They're aiming for your father; this may be a golden opportunity to rescue Ace," said Mala.
Sadly, Doberman saw the making a break for it. "After Dragon! Hurry!"
"Sir!"
A group of Marines immediately charged in towards Hiccup. Fortunately, there were mostly grunts, so Hiccup had no trouble dispatching them in his human form.
Stoick was also making short work of the Marines, unleashing another shockwave with a swing of his axe. Three Marines had dodged the attack and jumped in swinging their swords, but Stoick counted them with a powerful back fist.
They fired their bazookas at him from afar, but that proved ineffective when Stoick unleashed another shockwave, smashing the artillery to pieces. The rest of the commanders dealt with the Marines and easily dispatched them.
Stoick, however, realised they were going to save Ace like this. "We finally make headway, and the bastards start pulling themselves together."
"Things he can first through?" said Magnus.
"He'll be pushing up daisies first," said Kia.
"Damnit all," said Ace as he looked down.
Gobber's manager took down Marine, but his injuries from earlier were slowing him down. Additionally, he was still handcuffed, so he couldn't use his powers to heal himself or fly.
"Crap, come on," he winced. He tried to forcefully remove the cuff, but it was just too tight. "I can't help them. Not so long as I got these things on."
Mulch, the 6th Division Commander, a short but muscular man with red hair, looked up at Stoick. "Hey, Stoick, we've got your back, so don't overdo it."
"Stop and listen to me!" Stoick yelled.
They all looked at him, confused.
"What's wrong?" Mulch asked.
"There's no plan!" Stoick announced. "I'm either going to live, or I'm going to die. So backup Hiccup with everything you've got."
His men looked at one another, stunned and confused by this order.
"Hiccup? But why?" Izo asked.
"What's he thinking?" Gobber stared.
"Stop your gawking and take out Hiccup already!" Kia ordered his Marines.
Marcus and Howl, the Vice-Admiral with the Dalmatian powers, charged in.
"Hiccup Haddock, they're coming for you!" Mala warned.
Marcus drew his sword and was inches away from striking Hiccup, but Gomer appeared out of nowhere and blocked the attack with his blade.
"I know you," said Marcus. "You're Gomer, the Bohemian Knight, correct?"
"Vice-Admiral Marcus, a pleasure to meet you," said Gomer.
Howl rushed towards Hiccup, but he was stopped in his tracks by the Greline brothers.
"The Greline Brothers," he glared.
"It sucks to be you."
"You've got to fight us."
Doderman was clashing blades with Karl. "Thunder Lord Karl."
"Pardon me, Vice-Admiral, but I require a moment of your time if you would," said Karl.
Hiccup stared in astonishment as the captains from the New World began to rally around him.
"It looks like we have some allies," said Mala.
"If Stoick says to lend you a hand, then we're on it in a flash."
"Ace is right there, Hiccup; no way they're going to stop all of us."
"Stoick's allies are backing up Dragon!" a Marine officer yelled. "This does not look good."
The Marines soon found themselves being pushed back by the pirates, and Hiccup just kept on heading towards the scaffold.
"Thanks for the backup," said Hiccup.
"Don't worry about it. Just keep running."
"The Navy forces are focused on your father right now. So this might be your only chance to slip past the admirals and move it."
"We're slamming into them all at once, so wait for your opening."
"It would seem as if you have a talent for attracting people," Mala noted. "Though I suppose it helps that you're the son of the greatest pirate in the world."
"All my life, I have been trying to make him notice me," said Hiccup. "Can't believe it was a full-blown war that caused him to finally acknowledge me. Well, it doesn't matter now because the only thing that matters is getting Ace out of here."
"The pirates are gaining headway on us!"
"They're about to break through! We need backup, and hurry!"
The Marines were now in complete chaos. They both had to deal with Stoick and try to stop Hiccup from breaking through their defences.
"With all due respect, maybe we should change plans," said a Marine looking at his superior officer.
"Not yet. If we have a chance to defeat Stoick, then we must take it. Everyone moved in now! If he falls, then it's only a matter of time for the rest of them."
The Marines then charged at Stoick, who merely smiled at them.
"1 or 100, it doesn't matter; you can stand in line, or you can all die at once," said Stoick as he channelled his power through his axe.
He swung his axe, unleashing a massive shockwave across the battlefield like the Marines away once more.
"He's still up. What's it going to take?"
Stoick then coughed harshly, spitting out some blood. 'We think alike, Hiccup. As long as Ace goes home, nothing else matters. Show me the Will of D; show me the future. Even if my days are numbered, I can see tomorrow blazing through this battlefield.'
Hiccup was still making his way to the scaffold when suddenly they saw that blocking their path was none other than Hawkeye.
"Hawkeye," Mala grimaced. "Brace yourself!"
Hawkeye swung his sword, unleashing his slashing attack, which began to rip across the ground. However, to his surprise, Ryker jumped into the path of the attack, blocking it with his razor-sharp arms, though only just.
"Didn't expect you to jump in to save me," said Hiccup.
"Don't get the wrong idea; it was my brother's order," said Ryker. "At this moment, we're still allies. Now go."
Hiccup took him up on his offer and continued to make his way, but Hawkeye launched himself at him.
"Mr 1, I believe," said Hawkeye, stopping right in front of Ryker.
Ryker glared at him and swung his blade, but Hawkeye easily avoided it and struck him down with his own sword. He then continued and dashed towards Hiccup; Mala tried to stop him, but he dodged her attack.
"Look out!" Mala warned.
Hiccup turned his head and saw Hawkeye bearing down on him, but just as he swung his sword, moving to block it with his own blade, was Viggo.
"Viggo, too?" said Hawkeye, generally surprised.
"Get up, brother," said Viggo without looking at him.
"I thought it was like old times, but prison has made me soft," Ryker winced.
"I suggest you get moving, my boy," Viggo suggested, looking at Hiccup with the corner of his eye. "Before I change my mind."
Hiccup narrowed his eyes, and they continued to make his way to the scaffold, soon joined by Mala.
"This won't end well," Hawkeye warned Viggo. "Are you certain?"
"I have my own reasons," said Viggo, casually putting his hands behind his back. "We may be enemies, but I can't help but wonder what Hiccup will accomplish in time. The Navy feels the same way, which is why they are trying so hard to silence him. To that end, if I wish to see what that young man is able to accomplish, I must fight you and the Navy."
Atali watched as Hiccup continued to make his way to the scaffold.
"Hiccup, do everything I can to aid you," Atali promised.
Her attention then suddenly turned to three Pacifistas that had just arrived.
"Target is Hiccup D Dragon, open fire."
They opened their mouths and began firing their mouth lasers, but Atali quickly intervened. She placed herself in front of them, causing them to stop.
"Atali Boa, insight. Abort the attack."
"That's enough!" Sachihiro roared as he swung his battleaxe at her. Atali quickly jumped to safety. "Are you out of your damn mind? This isn't the first time that you've gotten in the way, but it will be the last. What are you trying to accomplish here anyway? You're going to lose your Warlord starters."
Atali narrowed her eyes at him. "I do not need to explain myself to a manchild such as yourself."
"What you say?" Sachihiro glared.
"As for my Warlord starters, I'm sure I will be able to sweet talk my way out of any trouble with your superiors," she said confidently.
"You're insane, aren't you?"
Hiccup, meanwhile, is heading towards the scaffold. It would have been easier to fly up there, but he had just seen what had happened to Gobber when he had attempted it.
Buggy was hovering over the battlefield observing, and he was absolutely furious at Hiccup, who wasn't just still alive but somehow rallying Stoick's forces to his side.
"You had better run, Dragon," he said and reattached himself to his lower torso, which was still behind the wall.
"What's going on, Captain? You don't seem too happy right now?"
"I'm not," he grumbled. "It doesn't look good out there. All of you saw it, right? How incredible I was on my broadcast; the whole world should be watching me, but nobody cares. They're too busy gawking at that chump running to the scaffold to feast their eyes on something I happened to be doing. Now answer me this: who should be the start of this pirate show?"
"That would be you, of course," said his followers.
"Damn straight, it should be me. Now I've got to do something flashy enough in a flash to stop people watching Dragon's shenanigans and pay attention to mine." He then turned to his group of followers holding the transponder snail. "Hey, give me that snail, pal."
"Yeah, about that?" he said, showing him the still-frozen transponder snail. "The snail… it's kinda frozen solid right now."
"What a pain!" Buggy muttered. "Just defrost the damn thing. Give it a quick dip in that magma water or whatever, and the ice should melt right off."
His followers did what he was told. "It melted all right!"
"Nice, now let me see."
He soon returned with the transponder snail. "Good as new."
However, when Buggy saw the transponder snail, he saw that it had shrivelled up. "It's all gross! What did you do?"
"Oh yeah, saltwater and snails don't get a lot, do they?"
Buggy was annoyed. "After we went through all that trouble to steal it from the Navy too. Well, it's not going to win any beauty contests, but the thing might still work. I'm just trying to sweet talk it a bit."
He then leaned in towards the transponder snail. "Hey, little buddy. Think you can open those peepers for me?" The transponder snail looked at him weakly. "We're going to be best buddies, okay."
Unfortunately, when the transponder snail looked at him, he was giving a rather menacing grin along with his followers. Terrified, the transponder snail retracted back into its shell and hid.
"What?! I was nice!" Buggy yelled and looked at his followers. "It's because of your scary faces, you bunch of goons."
"Sorry, I was born this way. I guess good looks don't run in my family."
'Damnit,' Buggy cursed. 'Once Dragon reaches that scaffold, no one is going to care about anything else. I've got to do something distracting.'
Hiccup continued to make his way to the scaffold and was now being backed up by Stoick's men. The Marines did everything they could to hold them back, but they kept charging relentlessly.
"Make a path to the scaffold! We only need one moment, a breakthrough!"
"Getting desperate, are they," said Marcus as he dodged the swinging from Gomer.
Gomer didn't let up and began moving with some powerful swings, forcing Marcus onto the defensive. The monkey riding on his shoulder even joined in the action and tried to shoot him with his pistols.
Howl was also struggling with the Greline Brothers. The two brothers were fighting in perfect sync; every time he had the upper hand against one of them, the second brother would jump in with a surprise attack.
Doderman was clashing blades with Karl, who matched him swing for swing.
"That's enough," said Doderman.
A good number of Marines were attacking Stoick despite being heavily injured; he was still able to knock them back with a single swing of his battleaxe. A few Marines tried to attack from his blind spot, but to their surprise, both Astrid and Jinbe moved to block their attack.
"Fishman Karate: Brick Fist!" Jinbe yelled.
"Valkyrie Storm!" Astrid yelled.
The two of them unleashed their attacks, blowing away the Marines away from Stoick.
"Astrid! Jinbe!" Stoick turned. "I said to leave me and help my son get to the scaffold, didn't I?"
Astrid gave him a smirk. "Sorry, old man, but Hiccup is my Captain, and he hasn't given me an order yet."
"She's right; neither of us are part of your crew, so we don't have to listen to a word you say," said Jinbe.
Stoick smiled. "Have it your way then."
Hiccup was very close to the scaffold, the closest he had been throughout the entire fight. A Marine attacked him, but Hiccup easily dispatched him with a single punch. Then, he noticed that he had a clear path towards the scaffold. All of Stoick's men were holding the Marines' bag, leaving a very wide opening for him to advance.
"They did it," said Hiccup. "They've cleared a path."
"Everyone has done their part; now you do yours," said Mala. "Keep going, and don't look back."
"Got it," said Hiccup.
"It is our turn now," said Mala as she looked behind her. "I am sorry to make you do this, knowing that you're still recovering, but we need your skills in particular."
Standing directly behind her was Throk, who didn't look too worse for wear. "No apology necessary, my queen. I shall give it my best."
Throk hands then turned to scissors, and he began cutting through the ground. Hiccup was surprised to see him as he ran past him.
"Throk? Where did you come from?" Hiccup stared.
"I was more or less carried here, just in case I was needed," said Throk.
He then released the strip, which extended all the way towards the scaffold, making a bridge towards it.
"They—they've made a bridge!"
"It's Throk of the Revolutionary Army!"
"Thanks, Throk," said Hiccup, quickly running towards the bridge.
"Dragon is making straight towards the scaffolds! Stop him!"
"What are you doing? Block his path!"
"We can't, sir! These pirates are blocking us we can't get past!"
"Fools! Use your guns! Cannonade open fire!"
The Marines aimed their bazookas at Hiccup, but the Commanders jumped in and destroyed the artillery.
"Damn! It's them, the Hairy Hooligan team of Commanders!"
"We've got your back, Hiccup," said Mulch. "Keep going. We've got this."
Hiccup nodded and ran past them.
"Everybody push! We're breaking through!"
The Marines began to break through the pirate blockade, but the commanders blocked their path, preventing them from getting anywhere close to Hiccup. A small group of Marines managed to break through them and block Hiccup.
"He comes, men!"
Hiccup then took on his hybrid form. "Plasma Blast!"
He fired a plasma blast directly at the Marines, blowing them away instantly, leaving the way clear for him.
"Take it straight to the top," said Throk.
"You've got it," said Hiccup as he began to run at the bridge.
"He's getting away!"
"Death Wink!" Mala yelled, blowing away a group of Marines with her shockwave attack. "If you want a fight, then face me." She then smiled about Hiccup. "Now you just keep on going, Hiccup Haddock."
"It worked! He's going to make it!"
"We've got this! We really got this!"
The Marines were still desperate to stop them.
"It's not over! Pull him down!"
"Hiccup, save Ace!"
"Yeah, show them what the son of Stoick is capable of!"
"I've got to admit, I didn't think that Stoick would gamble it all on you," said Kia admittedly. "It's been a fun ride, but don't kid yourself, boy."
He then began to turn to light with every intention of blocking Hiccup's path, but Stoick suddenly came in swinging his axe at him. He was just able to avoid the swing, but now he was unable to stop Hiccup.
"Well, don't have that beat all," said Kia, annoyed.
"It's going to be a good show; why don't you just sit back and watch?" Stoick smirked.
Hiccup was halfway there, and Ace just looked down at him, stunned. "Hiccup…"
"We did it!" Hiccup cheered. "I'm here!"
Then something smashed right through the bridge, and everyone's eyes widened as they saw blocking Hiccup's path was Wrinkly.
"Is Wrinkly going to fight too?"
"Grampa, get out of the way," said Hiccup as he kept running.
"I'm not moving a damn inch," said Wrinkly stubbornly. "I am a Vice-Admiral of the Navy! I have been fighting pirates since longer than you were born, and I ain't stopping today."
"Old man," Ace stared.
Sander just stood there in silence.
"You're not my grandson here; you are the pirate Dragon Conqueror Hiccup!" Wrinkly roared. "And I will fight you to the death. This is the path that you chose to take. You and your brother alike."
