Chapter 2: Making A Decision

While Linda and Tulio were talking, Blu and Banjo went over to Linda's work desk, to talk about what was going on.

"I don't trust this guy Blu, he could be another smuggler." Banjo suggested.

"Maybe not." Blu told his brother. "But he seems like a nice guy. He doesn't look like a smuggler type." Blu turning to see the man giving Linda a card.

"Doctor Of Ornithology?" Linda read the card that Tulio give her.

"Ooh." Tulio said about Blu and Banjo before starting to make strange bird noises. "They magnificent."

"I was only introducing myself and shaking my tail feathers counter-clockwise, thus referring to their dominance." Tulio said.

"I did not get that at all." Blu spoke up.

"Yeah, same here." Banjo agreed.

"So Dr. Monteiro." Linda began.

"Oh no, Doctor, please. Just call me Tulio." The man told Linda his first name. "You know, your macaws is a very a special birds. In fact, as we all know Blu and Banjo is the last males of their kind."

"Really." Linda surprised to hear this.

"Yes." Tulio continued. "And recently, we found two females, and our hope is to bring the four of them together to save their species."

"Oh." Linda said. "Well, yeah, sure." Linda looking at Blu and Banjo as the three have exchanged looks. "When can they come over?"

"Oh, no, no, no. They are in Brazil. Blu and Banjo must come to Rio De Janeiro." Tulio said.

"Rio! Brazil!" Linda questioned as she backed up a little bit. "I can't leave Blu and Banjo out of my sight, they need me."

"Oh no, you misunderstood. It's all arranged. You will be with them every step of the way, and I will be with you." Tulio said.

"Look, I know you're doing your job but Blu and Banjo is very particular, and we have our little routine here and we're not big on travel. Heck, they doesn't even fly." Linda told Tulio.

"But of course they can fly. They are a perfect specimen." Tulio said inspecting Blu.

"Erm, what are you doing?" Linda asked in a worried tone.

"Don't worry, just hold your arm out and he will perch on it. Their natural instincts always take over." Tulio said.

Tulio then threw Blu. Blu flapped his wings but no experience, he started to fall.

"What kind of doctor are you?" Blu said, angrily at Tulio.

"Yeah, do you have respect for all birds?" Banjo asked angrily.

"Blu, are you okay?" Linda asked, worried about Blu and she hug him.

"Perhaps they are domesticated." Tulio said.

"It is very nice of you to stop in and do your things and throw my bird." Linda said angrily. "But now it's time for you to go."

"I'm very sorry." Tulio tried to apologize. "This could be our last chance."

"Have a safe flight." Linda said and shut the door.

"Linda, please listen to me. If we don't do this, their whole species will be gone." Tulio dropped his card in the mail thingy on the door. "Just think about it."

Linda, Blu, and Banjo stared at each other.

A few hours later

It was night time. Inside the bookstore, Blu and Banjo was in a long table, with some books around.

"Natural instincts? Pff. There nothing natural about being thrown half way across the room. I'll show him." Blu said.

"We need to learn how to fly." Banjo said.

"We can do this, we just have to work out the physics. We have quadrated my vector angles, I have adjusted for windshear, positive reinforcement. Draws a circles around the word believe written on a piece of paper, good. Ok let's see." Blu said.

"Flaps open, perfect. Landing gear check. Tails flaps, operational, and actually not bad. Ok, this is it, let's fly. Just keep it simple." Banjo said.

"Thrust, lift, drag, weight, thrust, lift, drag, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, ahhhhhh!" Blu said. Fear took over them and they stopped and the end but bitting a wire, but it skin broken and the brothers fell down and got tangled in the wires.

Linda hears a crash and rushed down the stairs.

"Blu, Banjo?" Linda said.

Linda realized that that the boys wanted to fly and feel bad for them.

A few minutes later.

"I promised I would always look out for you two, didn't I? And have I ever broken a promise?" Linda smiled, but soon dropped and continue. "I'm scared too, but I wouldn't make you do this if it wasn't the right thing to do. What do you say Blu and Banjo?"

Linda held his fist for a classic bump which of course Blu and Banjo signed in agreement and did a fist bump.

"That's my big brave boys." Linda said while petting their head feathers. "And we'll be back home before you even know it."
