Hey Author here, i was really unhappy with this first version of this story, so i remade it from the ground up. warning there will be use of the N-word, before someone says something. i am black, my characters are black, character that are not black will not be saying it. lastly the heath bar and super bar are not appearing when i read the published version however they appear they appear in my docs and saved copies of this chapter. Until i figure out how to fix it i will not include them.
Did you know most people go their whole life without throwing a punch? You probably didn't, but it's not surprising when you think about it. I mean one, hitting things hurts, like a lot. And two, was the effort into throwing the punch in the first place even worth it if that thing hits back?

Yeah, well, I wish I could say the same for me….
My name is Jomari Scott, and I was born and raised in the swamp that is Florida, specifically central Florida, go Knights! I'd say my life was pretty normal for a 16-year-old black teen. I had friends, and a family that loves me, that includes a dad so that stereotype can go screw itself.
School was going well, I wasn't into any sports as I was more of a nerd than anything. Ask me to explain basketball history you're shit out of luck, ask me to break down the Zelda timelines and where each game is placed, I'm your man.
But above all else, I was happy.
But life isn't without its surprises, it was a normal school day. I had just left the house and was walking to school. "Yoyo Jojo!" I knew that annoying voice anywhere.
"What are you doing with all this cake on this fine Monday morning." Yes, this 5'9 skin and-bones mother fucker is my best friend Baylee. "Don't touch me! I'm a minor!"
Ok, so we might not be the sharpest crayons in the box but does that matter? " Minor, Call me R. Kelly then because!" Ok, so maybe we don't focus too much on how we share a single brain cell.
"So, did you hear that Nintendo is suing the PalsWorld devs?" Of course, I saw, but to be honest, I'm not too involved in it. I've been playing too much 40k to care." This isn't that surprising, while I care a lot about the gaming space Baylee only cares if the game is good.
"… Race you to the stop light!" huh, wait that asshole! "Get back here!" with a push I took off after him. Slowly I was gaining on his black ass! He was a few feet away from the stop light as I saw him trip on a rock.
I saw as he stumbled towards the road. I reached my hand out grabbing him by the back of his shirt. Unfortunately, a dickhead by the name of Isaac Newton made some laws and now we're both on our way to being a road stain.
A car horn blew through the air and with a tug I pulled Baylee behind me, I tried to curl myself up, closed my eyes, and waited for the impact.
I felt it, but it didn't hurt, or at least not much. It felt like a pinch, when I reopened my eyes the front of the car was smushed in. I looked down at myself and it was like I had never moved at all and even a smudge on my clothing.
"Is that kid ok?"
"Wait what happened?"
"Well, he looks fine."
I looked over at Baylee who looked shocked, to say the least. "Get up and lets go." I just look at him confused. "I said get up, we can't stay here." I scrambled to my feet, looking the car over one last time before following Baylee as sirens began to fill the air. We moved and jumped a few fences until we arrived in a forest clearing.
"Are you a mutant?"
"What?"
"I said are you a mutant?!" He raised his voice at me, I took a step back with my hands up. "Uh, no?"
"Then what was that back there?" "How am I supposed to know, I was just trying to save your dumbass! Next thing I know a car is totaled, I'm fine and everyone is looking at me like I'm the second coming of Christ!" Baylee took a deep breath and then scratched his head.
"Alright, Shit." He said off to the side as he started passing the sound of leaves crunching at every step. "Ok, so what now?"
"Well, I wasn't going to tell you till the end of the school year but-" His sentence was cut off by a low growl that reached both of our ears. A creature of black fur steps in and-

"Uh Bro, don't freak out but there's text floating in front of my face." Baylee looked over at me. "Is the fact that a bear is currently staring us down making you go crazy?"
"I am being so for real! The bear got some kind of Boss title card and now I have a quest that's called Bear hand-to-hand and I get 15 exp for beating it!" He just looked back at me like I was crazy. "Nigga have you lost your mind!"
"I'm not trying to lose my life!" the bear let out a roar and both our heads snapped back to it. "Listen Jomari, I'm a Mutant. My ability is called stock, I can build energy in my libs and release them in strong bursts or powerful attacks!"
"…So you are a mutant, but when I told you I have video game screens showing up you look at ME like I'm crazy! Ok, buddy." "Focus, you run I will fight the bear sounds like a plan?" I look at him and then at the quest window.
"Nah, I'm going to do my own thing."

"You are so corny" "Shut up!" I ran at the bear, if I'm a mutant I have to have some kind of busted power. So, I drew my arm back and balled up my first! Then the bear stood on its hind legs doubling its size and then I remembered that if it's black fight back if it's brown lay down.
It swiped its paw at me, I put up my guard to try to block the attack but Baylee tackled me out of the way. "Have you lost your goddamn mind!?" "In hindsight, not my brightest moment. But I got to do this, I got to see what I'm capable of."
"And you chose a bear?" "I'm just doing what the words are telling me to do!" He was going to rebuttal but we both noticed that it suddenly got dark. We both rolled to the side as the bear landed where we just were.
"Ok, you want to fight, sure, you're playing support!" like hell I am! "Hell, no!" The bear let out an enraged roar at me. "I will be playing support."
Baylee ran at the bear, I watched as blue energy flowed through his legs as he rocketed forward with crazy speed. He built that same energy into his right arm and hit the bear. The bear let out a painful grunt as it fell over.
I ran up next to Baylee. "You think that did it?" "I sure hope so because that's all I got in the tank."
….
"What do you mean that's all you got."
"Well, I'm putting extra strain on my body so now it's kind of hard to move." I started to think because this reminded me of something I'd seen before. "Your mutant power is just the Kaio-Ken isn't it…"
"I like to think of it more as a one for all."
"Shut up, you're wrong that's wrong and stupid, now let's get out of these woods before the bear gets back up."
"So, I have some bad news." Baylee looked over at me as Bear stood back up looking more pissed than ever.
"What, but I hit it as hard as I could." "Yeah well clearly not hard enough." Baylee was visually deflated, and I looked back at him. "And you're positive that you're completely out of juice."
"Unless you want to see my limbs bend and a way they shouldn't, yeah." With a heavy sigh, I stepped up.
The fight for equality for the people who see us as monsters never comes to an end…
Do we turn our back on them as they did us or continue this never-ending fight?

Fight!
The bear ran at Jomari, it threw its whole body into a swipe, Jomari put his hands up to defend himself. The bear claws made contact with Jomari however an invisible like shield blocked the attack. "Oh, I think I understand it now."
The bear kept swinging and Jomari kept blocking. "This is starting to hurt, I can't keep letting it swing on me."
Jomari side-stepped in the direction the bear was swinging leaving its whole left side open. He threw two punches and hit the bear on its cheek before reeling his hands back. "Damn, what is your face made of, brick!"
The bear stood up on its hind legs and threw its body down in an attempt to crush him. Jomari backed up when the bear came down he ran at it stepped up on its head jumped then let gravity do the rest as he landed with all his body weight on the bear's skull.
"Yeah, how do you like that!" The bear got up, a bit of blood was coming out from its mouth but it did a few shakes and then ran at him again. "Oh, I see." Jomari ran at the bear.
Jomari threw a punch but the bear ducked its head under the attack. It then flicked its head and body up under Jomari sending him flying over the animal. While still air born the bar stood up and did a vicious slash at Jomari sending him flying at a tree. Upon impact, Jomari let out a gasp as he slumped down.
"DAAAAMN, That shit looked like it hurt, you good homie?" Jomari got up and noticed the claw marks in his school uniform, oh and blood from the wound couldn't forget that. "Yeah, turns out bears hit pretty hard."
"Wasn't aware that was a surprise but go off I guess." Jomari started pacing around the bear and the bear followed. "Ok Yogi, you're tough and you hit hard, got any more tricks up those sleeves of yours."
"Grrrrrr" "Yeah I thought so." Jomari and the bear ran at each other. The bear did a swipe and Jomari slid under it wrapped his arms around its neck and squeezed. "Go to sleep, Go to sleep, Go to sleep!"
The bear let out a roar as it was trying to shake Jomari off. But the boy held on tight not letting go for a second. "Come on Yogi tap ou-OWWW" The bear had sunk its teeth into his forearm. "If you think that's going to make me let go then you have another thing coming!"
Readjusting his footing and tightening his grip Jomari held as the bear kept biting him. "Come on! Come on! COME ON!" he felt the bear's bit lessen in power with each chomp until. It opened its mouth and bit down so hard his forearm broke.
Everything went silent as Jomari fell back screaming and clutching his arm. Getting a grip on himself he tried to get up off his back when a hand reached out to him to grab. "You good dude?"
"Baylee?" Jomari looked at Baylee but more importantly his now broken right arm. He then looked passed Baylee at the bear and saw that it was down with a pool of blood pouring from its face.
"holy shit, when did you do that." Jomari took Baylee's left hand. "Shortly after I noticed the bear go in for that last bite. "Thanks for the help."
"Any time."

"So why didn't you jump in earlier if you could do that?" I asked Baylee gave a sheepish smile. "Well, I wanted to be a last-ditch effort. You know, just in case the bear looked like it was about to win."
Yeah right. "Sure dude, so what now?" He smiled at me, then pointed at the trees. "I also made a call while you were duking it out." I fully suspected for someone to walk out from the tree line but no one was there.
"Was, was there supposed to be someone there?" "Uh, yeah. Give me one second." He walked over to his phone and started checking it.

"Oh, uh is that going to be in my vision the whole time or does this go away?" I received no answer in fact, it was quiet, super quiet.
Welcome to the tutorial.
This is where you learn the basics of the game! Throughout your journey, you will encounter many foes and enemies! Knowing what your body can do is mostly up to you but don't worry we won't leave you high and dry!
For starters, your body has complexly changed. Gone is the muscle flexing and moving together to move; you are now 100% frame-data!

Let's start simple, and move to this target.
A spot on the ground started to glow red, ok this should be hard. And I was right walking was as easy as ever.

Now that we got that out of the way we can start the hard stuff.
A gray dummy spawned in
What you are in now is called traditional mode! When entering combat depending on the situation the battle mode can change and vary. For right now you are in basic battle mode.
Now approach the dummy and hit it once!
Seems easy enough. So I walk up and pop the dummy in the mouth.
Excellent!
Now on let's practice canceling, while normal people need to do a full motion and move with momentum in order for their attacks to be successful you can skip the middle part all together and instantly move to the next attack.
Let's give it a try! Perform a right hook followed by a left kick!
"Right hook into left kick, the balance of my body would be completely thrown off." I looked the dummy up and down and threw a right hook my body instantly snapped into the left kick completely canceling the previous move, to say I felt weird would be an understatement.
It felt weird as hell but at the same time so cool. I threw out a knee and before the dummy could recover I was throwing out a backhand as if the knee never came out in the first place.
Amazing!
Next is defense, looking up you can see your health bar, when that reaches zero it lights out! So to prevent this you need to block! By putting your guard up you can negate incoming damage!
Give it a try!
The dummy sprung to life but it hands up in a boxing position. "Oh, shit" I shuffled to me and threw out a punch I instinctively put my hand up to soften the blow, but a clear shield rose up in front of me tanking the attack. I still felt the impact, but it felt more like a pinch.
Next, low blocking!
"Low blocking?" with a swift kick to my ankle I fell over. "Son of a!"
Remember to crouch and block for a low block!
"Yeah, I guessed as much, a little warning would be nice!" I got back up and when the dummy went for the same kick I crouched and held up my guard to block it!

"SHORYUKEN!" propelling myself off the group I launched the dummy straighter up.

Ugh, I feel like I got hit with a pack of bricks. I then looked down at my clothes and noticed that there were still scratch marks on them, and me unfortunately. I did have bandages around my chest and arm, which were surprisingly not broken anymore. also, there's something around my neck.
I was expecting to wake up in a hospital but was surprised to find that I was in a moving van. "Oh good you are awake." Baylee looked over me with a somber look there was also some weird device around his neck.
"Hey man where the hell are we?" I sat up and saw the other people inside the van, with matching devices around their necks. "We got caught…"
"What do you mean we got caught?" He shifted so that his now wrapped arm was resting over him. "Remember what I asked you back in the woods?" What did he ask me?
"You mean if I was a mutant, yeah, but what does that have to do with this, what even is a mutant?" "I don't know the science behind it all I know is it's people with something that makes them more than a normal person. And As for why we're here, we're probably off to a mutant facility camp." I raised my eyebrows at that tad bit of information.
"I'm sorry, I'm incredibly confused, why are we heading to a camp?" He sighed before turning over I guess he did not want to talk about it anymore.
Escape the Van:
You're on your way to a mutant camp, escape the van before it reaches its destination.

"Well, not if I have anything to say about it." I stood up. "Don't bother the device around your neck is preventing you from using your abilities," Baylee said drained of all emotion.
"Bitch get your head up and help me!" "Nigga I don't think you understand this is it, where done it over!" He raised his voice at me I could see it wasn't out of anger but out of pure fear.
"Tch, I'm going to at least give it a try." I can still receive quests so clearly my abilities aren't gone, I hope. I first threw out a knee and canceled it into a right punch. Good, I can still cancel moves.
"How did you do that?" Baylee looked up, I flashed him a smile and turned to the doors of the van. "Say Baylee how long have we been in this van?"
"I'm not 100 percent sure but if I'd had to guess most of the day." Ok, let's get started then.

That is a lot of health, and from the looks of it, I'm half health. I punched the door with my right hand and followed it up with a kick from my left foot. I watched the doors hp drop by quite a bit.
"Dude, how hard can you hit?!" I looked back at him and shrugged, "Hard enough I guess." It's already pretty damaged. With a few more hits it was on its last bit of HP I hit the door with a sidekick kick causing it to fly off its henges. The doors flew and hit a semi causing it to swerve and fall over blocking the whole lane.
"Oh shit."
"Jomari what the fuck!"
"I wasn't expecting them to fly off the damn henges!" I looked down at the road where still moving pretty fast. "Everyone, grab on to something and tuck your heads in."
"JoJo, what are you about to do?" I latched myself onto the side of the van, I got as close as I could to the tire. I looked back at everyone making sure everybody was holding on to something before I went through with this.
"Please work…" With all of my might, I kicked the tire and it flew off the axel, the van went down before rolling out, it practically threw me with all of the momentum it carried while spinning. I crashed onto the road, and Jesus did that hurt like a bitch.

Damn, get's bitch tossed and only loses a small bit of health, sure that makes sense. I make my way over to the van to check to see if everyone made it. "Baylee you alive."
"Unfortunately." I see people crawling out from the back of the van, from the looks of it everyone made it. "Great, now what?" shit, that's a great question. The quest hasn't said it's completed so there's more.
I walk over to the front door of the van break the window and open the door from the inside. Both men were limp and I'm choosing to believe that they are knocked out for my own mental sanity. I reach into one of their pockets and grab a phone.
"It's damn near 5 AM, ok where are we tho?" I held the phone to his face unlocking it. "Let's see maps, maps, bingo." Oh, you got to be shitting me.
"What's wrong?" Baylee walked up to me and peered at the phone. "No way."
We were about an hour from New York City. "Ok, so that's bad, but it could be worse. We just need to walk to the nearest exit." We scrolled and saw the nearest exit was 40 miles away.
"Uh, that's not how roads work, they're usually only 10 to 15 miles apart." If we were this far out from normal civilization where were we heading? "Baylee, let's head to that semi I knocked over."
"Good thinking" We gathered up the other people and made our way to the semi about ten minutes later we reached the semi. It was still mostly intact, well, except for the huge gaping hole on the roof of it. The driver-side door was already opened, which means the person driving survived.
"Everyone stay here, I'll go check it out." Yeah, that sounded brave, too bad I wasn't feeling brave. Nevertheless, I climbed the truck up to the door and peeked my head over. What I saw inside made me sick to my stomach.
Whole chunks of the driver were missing and his entrails were strung him. "What the hell did this?" I noticed a remote key and one of the collars that I had on was on him. I picked up the key and dropped down from the truck.
"So?" Baylee walked up to me. "Dude's dead, Mortal Kombat fatality and everything, brighter news I found this." I showed him the key, "Nice, let's hope one of these people has some kind of teleport or something."
I went around unlocking everyone's collar one by one then finally mine "Ok, by chance does anyone here have something that can get us back to any form of civilization?"
That was met with silence, Great. We could try walking but we'd probably starve before we'd reach anything. The only other option is lifting the truck and seeing if we can still ride that.
"Alright, here's the plan." I however was cut off by a light shining down on all of us. I heard the sound of a helicopter growing closer "You got to be shitting me…" I watched it and began to decide before something shot out from the trees latching itself to it.
The helicopter began to swerve the crashed on the opposite side of the road going up in flames.
A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES!
I definitely don't like the sound of that…
A man walked out from the flames he had some device over his head and was only wearing underwear.
