The Six Mighty Adventures Miserable Adventure

Chapter 5

This was the first night that the party finally could get themselves a decent bit of sleep. That was until a large bird landed in the middle of the night and entered the nearby command tent which soon erupted in shouts of joy. The alarm was sounded and the peoples and the party were woken to gather and hear the announcement of the actions of Sir Bob and the Champions of the council of heroes.

They learned that the Champions had actually been secretly tracking the evil leaders of the enemy army back to their lair. There they slew the leaders and their minions and captured their base. They have also found and slain a terrible demon that dwelled there that was empowering the evil enemy commander to spread its own foul influence. The source of the great evil has finally been destroyed and its evil army has been vanquished.

An elder of the peoples council spoke. "I am also sad to report that we have also been informed that a number of the Champions fell in the final battle against the demon. Now let us have a moment of silent respect for those we have lost when the enemy stalked the lands, those who have fallen in the great battle here and now the fallen against the final enemy. We thank them and shall forever remember them for their sacrifice".

"Now let the people celebrate for the war is finally over". And so a new celebration erupted across the camps ensuring the party got little rest that night. (Except Ghengis who could sleep like a log and Loro who wisely "borrowed" a candle to make himself some ear plugs).

The attendants in the council's tent now revealed to the six adventurers that Sir Bob and the party of Champions had secretly left two days ago on a mission to strike at the evils heart. They apologised for the deception as they were trying to mislead any possible enemy spies and gave the people the impression that Sir Bob and the peoples Champions were still around the area by spreading rumours.

We know his location now and the Champions won't be going anywhere until a relief force arrives. We will send you out with the advance party of the relief force in the morning and you should be there before the second night. Are you proficient in lizard riding? We shall have Squire Hammy shall teach you.

After gaining some new bruises they quickly became familiar with the lizard riding beasts and joined the advance party along with Squire Hammy. On the way there the heavy rain clouds returned as soon as they departed. Meanwhile the six adventurers handily and eagerly slew a large pack of over fifty rats to let off some of their frustration as they were travelling that day. They simply told the advance party to relax and take a break before attacking the poor rats who unwillingly provided extra gear to the party.

The next day had them encounter the enemy's feared great beast amidst a light drizzle. Its wounds showed it was the same angry gigantic wolverine that Sir Bob had driven from the battlefield. It's missing ear and ruined eye did not stop its nose from smelling the same type of creatures as the one that had badly hurt it. It now became enraged and wanted its revenge.

The wolverine turned and charged into the advance party, going primarily after Ghengis, Ransarn and Xena. The six adventurers held the great beast back from the others in the advance party; absorbing its wrath and keeping it attention. They used its impaired vision to strike its blind spots and cripple its legs before Ghengis drove his sharp bug sword into its throat and bled it out after a long fight. Never one to waste things the great beast was skinned by Ransarn as a gift for Sir Bruce the badger who had been badly wounded by the wolverine during the great battle. The fresh steaks was also welcome meal but was disturbing for some fellow members of the advance party.

They did not come out unscathed as the six adventurers were all wounded during the battle and were partly healed up by using the last of the advance party's good berries that had been created by Bob. The loss of some lizard steeds during the wolverines attack (and the time skinning the beast) meant it was a while before the slowed party set off again and thankfully they had no more encounters before they eventually limped into the frontier castle the following afternoon.

They were greeted by the remaining Champions who explained that some of them had just gotten back from seeing Sir Bob off as he went through a portal back to HIS CASTLE. The Champions gave Bobs last batch of healing berries he had left behind with the champions to the adventurers party that fully healed them and the champions were quite astonished that Sir Bob's loyal and valiant servants had come searching for him.

Add to that their assistance in the fight with the large pack of rats and their selflessness and bravery to distract the great wolverine so that it could be slain by the skilled and seasoned fighters of the advance party.

"You do your master great honour in your devotion and determination, and the ones he follows even more so. But you look tired, I think you should eat and rest the night; we will take you to the portal in the morning so you may return home to Sir Bob's realm".

The adventurers finally accepted the story that this new friend of Bob's, Sir Jeepea really was an armoured rabbit knight riding a giant armoured unicorn rabbit as his battle steed as their guide Squire Hammy had been insisting all along.

And so they almost got some rest that night if not for the celebration in the keep (featuring more recognizable music) before they set out the next morning astride new steeds and guided by a squad of the advance party guards and some champions.

Before mid-morning they came to the portal and they sat down to wait for the right moment to cross. The bunny knight, Sir Jeepea commented on the sights in the Saffin kingdom Sir Bob had told them of and had pointed out through the portal. As the locations shown in the portal switched it was noticed that it looked like the time of day has changed on the far side for many of the other realms. Some of the other realms shown were now of night scenes or daytime. The weather had changed in some as well and other minor differences could be seen. Their own portal was different as the land was now very dark on the other side but it showed the sky filled with the familiar stars of home.

The party said their farewells and departed, but Loro the honest burglar quietly thanked the noble rabbit Sir Jeepea and Squire Hammy for looking after and befriending their little side kick Bob. "We are glad to know he has come into his own at last. Our little side kick buddy is all grown up. Well if you ever have an evil god or demons that need slaying then don't think twice about contacting us". Loro then turned and enter the portal following the others.

Sir Jeepea stood there not moving for some time as he pondered Loro's words. Then he started to closely question those who were in the advance party and Squire Hammy about the skills of Bob's six "followers" in their fights. After hearing that the six had cut the rats down like they were nothing and slain the terrible wolverine on their own Sir Jeepea returned to the castle confirmed in his new suspicion and laughing the whole way at these humorous humans, or was that elves? Ah no matter, as Sir Jeepea continued to chuckle.

And so ends the second part in the tale of the Six Mighty Adventurer's Miserable Adventures. But it was also leading into the beginning of Bob's saga of the Free Booters for Hire. Part three in this ten plus one equals a thirteen part trilogy also known as the Gods Shall Laugh, or was it the Game of the Gods?
