Pewter City

Eventually, Ash made it out of the forest and found herself on a large rock overlooking Pewter City.

"Badge number 1, here we come," Ash said.

*Rustle* *Rustle*

"Nido," A light blue rodent-like Pokémon came out of the grass.

"A Female Nidoran," Ash said as she pulled out her Rotom Phone

Nidoran Female, the Poison Pin Pokémon. A Poison Type. Though Nidoran Female is small, it's quite dangerous. The barbs in its fur on the horn on its head are both extremely poisonous.

"Butterfree, I choose you!" Ash said as she sent out Butterfree.

"Free~" Butterfree appeared.

"Nido!" Nidoran fired multiple purple darts from her mouth.

"Butterfree Psybeam," Ash said.

Butterfree fired a streaky blue beam with purple circles in it from her eyes which overpowered Nidoran & hit her.

"Now Confusion." Butterfree's eyes glowed violet and telekinetically sent Nidoran flying.

"Now go Moon Ball!" Ash threw a Moon Ball at Nidoran and caught her. "Alright!"

"Thanks Butterfree," Ash said as she recalled Butterfree to her Love Ball.

Then, Ash made their way to the Pokémon Center. Entering the building, she quickly spotted the familiar pink haired nurse.

"Hello Nurse Joy, could you check my Pokémon for me? I'm going to challenge the Gym, but I want to make sure they are in tip-top shape," Ash said.

"Of course sweetie. You just wait over there & I will have your Pokémon back in a jiff," Joy said.

"Chansey," Chansey agreed.

Ash sat down at a table. She pulled out her Rotom Phone & started scrolling through it.

Later...

"Ashley, your Pokémon are ready," Joy called out.

Ash makes her way to the front desk, where Nurse Joy is waiting with her Pokémon.

"Thanks Nurse Joy," Ash smiled as Pikachu jumped on her shoulder.

"It's no problem," Joy smiled back.

Ash bid Joy another farewell before leaving.

Ash stood in front of the Pewter City Gym, a building with some giant rocks surrounding it.

"Well, it can't get any more obvious than this," Ash said before she turned to her Starter. "Ready?"

"Pika," Pikachu nodded.

Ash opened the doors, which were heavier than they look, and walked inside, only to see the inside was pitch black.

"Hello?~" She called out. "Is anyone here?"

"Who goes there?" A voice boomed through the area.

"My name is Ashley Ketchum from Pallet Town and I challenge you to a Gym Battle!" Ash replied.

"Very well," the voice replied before the lights cut on, revealing a tan-skinned teen with spiky brown hair and squinted eyes, wearing a green short-sleeved shirt under a brown jacket, blue pants and black and white shoes. "I'm Brock, the Gym Leader."

Brock led Ash to the battlefield.

"The Gym Battle between Brock the Pewter City Gym Leader and Ashley the Ketchum the Challenger will now begin. This will be a 2-on-2 battle & it will be over when either's side Pokémon are unable to continue. Only the Challenger can substitute Pokémon," the referee announced, who Brock introduced as his younger brother Forrest.

"Go Geodude!" Brock sent out a gray boulder-like Pokémon with two rock muscle arms.

"Dude!" Geodude appeared as Ash scanned the Pokémon

Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. A Rock and Ground Type. Geodude is often found on mountain roads with half of its body buried in the ground so it can observe mountain travelers.

"Pidgeotto, you're up!" Ash summoned her bird Pokémon.

"Pidgeo!" Pidgeotto appeared.

"Battle Begin!" Forrest declared.

"Geodude Rock Throw!" Brock ordered.

Geodude's hands glowed white and shot rocks from them.

"Dodge and use Sand Attack," Ash countered.

Pidgeotto dodged the attack and flapped her wings throwing sand at Geodude which got in its eyes.

"Uh oh. Geodude, get the sand out of your eyes quick!" Brock panicked.

"Steel Wing!" Ash followed up.

While Geodude was struggling to get the sand out of its eyes, Pidgeotto's wings glowed a metallic color and slammed her wings into Geodude. This sent Geodude flying to Brock's side, which kicked up some dust.

"Don't let up." Pidgeotto went through the dust as she repeatedly hits Geodude with Steel Wing.

"Geodude if you can hear me use Rock Polish then Mega Punch," Brock called out.

Geodude sparkled with light blue energy. Then it's fist glowed red & charged at Pidgeotto.

"Aerial Ace," Ash called out.

Pidgotto became surrounded by light blue streaks & clashed with Geodude.

"Quick while she's close, grab her," Brock instructed.

Geodude grabbed Pidgeotto with its free hand & slam her to the ground, repeatedly.

"Pidgeotto Agility," Ash said.

Pidgeotto disappeared & reappeared on the other side of the field. "Now Air Cutter!"

"Pidgeo!" Pidgeotto's wings glowed light blue, fired light blue X-shaped blades from them & hits Geodude causing an explosion. As the smoke cleared, everyone could see Pidgeotto perched on a boulder and Geodude knocked out.

"Geodude is unable to battle, Pidgeotto wins," Forrest announced as Brock returned Geodude to its Pokéball.

"Not bad, but let's see how you handle this," Brock said as he sent out a large snake-like Pokémon made out of stones.

"Groooooar!" the Pokémon appeared as Ash scanned it

Onix, the Rock Snake Pokémon. A Rock and Ground Type. By twisting its large and powerful body, Onix can quickly tunnel through the ground at fifty miles per hour.

"Use Screech," Brock said.

"GROOOOAR!" Onix screeched as red soundwaves came out of its mouth which caused Pidgeotto to wince.

"Now Tackle." Onix rammed its head into Pidgeotto before she had the chance to get away, which sent her flying into the fall and fainting.

"Pidgeotto is unable to battle, Onix wins," Forrest declared.

"You were wonderful, Pidgeotto," Ash praised as she recalled Pidgeotto. She turns to her Starter. "Your turn."

"Pika," Pikachu said as she ran on the battlefield.

"Onix get in close and use Bind," Brock said.

Onix slithered over to Pikachu.

"Jump girl," Ash said.

Pikachu jumped over Onix's tail and onto its body.

"Now Iron Tail." Pikachu's tail glowed a metallic color & hits Onix, making it roar in pain.

"Onix shake that Pikachu off," Brock said.

Onix managed to toss Pikachu off and slam her into a rock.

"Pikachu!" Ash said, worriedly.

"Pika," Pikachu said as she got back up.

"Use Double-Edge!" Onix became surrounded in streaks of white aura & charged at Pikachu.

"Dodge it." Pikachu dodged the attack. "Double Kick."

Pikachu kicked Onix twice.

"Use Iron Tail."

"Pika!" Pikachu used Iron Tail & hit Onix on the head, causing it to faint.

"Onix is unable to battle, Pikachu wins. So the victory goes to Ashley the Challenger," Forrest announced.

"Yes, we won our first gym battle!" Ash cheered as she hugged Pikachu when she jumped in her arms.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu smiled.

"Ashley, you showed real adaptability in that battle," Brock said as he walked towards her.

"Thanks," Ash said.

"As a result, you've earned this, the Boulder Badge," Brock said, handing her a shiny gray octagon-shaped badge.

"Yes, our first badge!" Ash cheered.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu cheered.

After obtaining the Boulder Badge & calling her parents to tell them she won her first gym battle, Ash was about to leave the city.

"Hey Ashley! Wait up!" A voice called out.

Ash turned & saw Brock running towards her.

"Hey Brock, what are you doing here?" Ash asked.

"I'm coming with you," Brock answered.

"Huh? But what about your Gym?" Ash asked.

"Don't worry, my dad, who is the real Gym Leader, just got out of the hospital and is fit enough to take control of the gym again. So is it alright if I travel with you?" Brock asked.

"Sure," Ash said, smiling.

With a new friend, the now duo continued their journey.
