At Sugarcube Corner the next day…
Pinkie Pie (while working at the same time somehow), Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity are sitting at a table near a window waiting for Sci-Twi, Sunset, and Bedman to arrive…
"What's taking them so long?" Wonders Rainbow Dash tapping her foot impatiently.
"They probably just were doin' some experiment all day again" Says Applejack looking at the front door to see when they arrive.
"I'm sure they'll be here in due time" States Rarity.
"I-I wonder what they called us here for?" Questions Fluttershy.
"Maybe they're going to finally admit they're together? Or maybe they found another world ending threat we need to take care of? Or maybe found a way to cross dimensions? Or maybe—" Rambles Pinkie before getting cut off by Bedman teleporting in.
Bedman thankfully brought Sci-Twi, Sunset, as well as concerningly enough Messmer and Sonata with him. The girls look at Messmer with understanding concern as last time they saw him he tried to kill them and burned half the town in the process.
"Uhhhh Sunset? Why are they here?" Asks Rainbow still upset about him almost burning her ankle off.
"Well you see we were running tests on those embers and butterflies but they weren't enough and we weren't getting anywhere…" Says Sunset trailing off on purpose.
"So Bedman offered to teleport us to Messmer so we could get some tests on the source of the flame itself. He agreed but only if we helped Sonata find a group of friends who would really be able to appreciate her…" Says Sci-Twi.
Messmer towers over them all but clearly has no intent to harm them even though he has his spear in the other hand.
"I can assure thee I have come bearing no intention to harm thy or thine friends. I am here to make sure thy deal is kept truly as I indendeed…" Calmly states Messmer his winged serpents coiled around Sonata gently as if to protect her.
They all look at each other thinking of what to say. They have no issue with Sonata as what she did was years ago and it's clear she's not doing so hot right now but before any of the others can so much as utter a word Pinkie Pie says something first.
"Sure! New friends are always welcome!" Cheers Pinkie leaping up from her seat and bouncing around near Sonata and Messmer.
"R-Really?" Asks Sonata looking up at her.
"Really! Really really! Super super super really!" Giggles Pinkie taking and violently shaking her hand.
Messmer stares down at Sonata and smiles having seen to it that the poor siren wouldn't be scorned by those who should be her friends for being herself.
"Ah think we all know where this is going" Chuckles Applejack.
Messmer raises an eyebrow at her before turning back to pinkie even his serpents looking confused at her.
"Yup, a party!" Cheers Pinkie already thinking of the best party to welcome Sonata to the group like she had done with Bedman, something he allowed mainly out of pity and curiosity.
"Is thou always like this?" Asks Messmer looking at the other girls.
"Yes dear yes she is" Says Rarity.
As Pinkie dashes around to plan her next party and work at the same time Messmer slowly lets the winged serpents uncoil from Sonata. The winged serpents then slither over to Fluttershy as she hasn't said a word yet, hissing loudly but not threateningly, Fluttershy gently pets the snakes which they seem to quite like.
"Oh you poor things!" Says Fluttershy able to understand the winged serpents.
"Can thou understand my winged serpents?" Asks Messmer.
"Fluttershy here can take to animals! Cool huh?" Explains Rainbow.
"I see… Until now I've been the only one able to understand them, as they are a part of my curse" States Messmer.
"C-Curse?" Stutters Fluttershy finding enough courage to ask a question.
"Yes, I was born cursed with flames and the Abyssal Serpent which eats at my flames corrupting it even further the only thing keeping it in control are the winged serpents suppressing its power" Explains Messmer.
"So,, are them snakes a part of ya body or somethin'?" Asks Applejack pointing at one of the serpents.
"Yes they are, they sprout from my chest and coil around me" Responds Messmer calmly.
"That sounds very painful, dear," Says Rarity, wincing at the thought.
"As they have been with me since birth there is no pain…" Responds Messmer.
"Are they like alive? Like sentient and all that?" Asks Rainbow having a random staring contest with one of the serpents.
"Yes, they possess their own intellect, but I can see through them" Answers Messmer.
"Well, that explains how you can see!" States Pinkie who Messmer and Bedman swear left the room to plan like two seconds ago before she disappears again. Messmer's winged serpents just watch as she bounces all over the place like she's on crack or something.
"Well, this went well!" Chuckles Sunset happy things went a lot better than expected.
"Yup! I'm glad everything went well!" Smiles Sci-Twi.
Bedman looks around at the weird bunch he's stuck with, but if this is how he has to atone then he'll make it work, at least he has someone like Messmer to somewhat relate to, being trapped here after their death and all. At least it could be worse much worse…
"S-So now what?" Asks Sonata looking up at her former enemies.
"Well, if we know Pinkie like we think we know her then expect a party in a couple of days at most or hours at least!" Smirks Rainbow.
"A party for what?" Wonders Sonata.
"A party for you becoming a friend silly!" Chimes in Pinkie appearing from thin air behind Sonata spooking her a little.
"A most odd occasion for celebration…" Says Messmer doing his best to understand Pinkie's logic here.
"Well why shouldn't we have a party, Messmy?" Questions Pinkie.
"Messmy?" Responds Messmer confused about this random nickname.
"Yeah! It's like Messmer but cuter! Not that your name isn't cute but ya know!" Says Pinkie.
"If calling me that makes thou happy then I shall allow it…" States Messmer.
"Okie dokie Messmy!" Giggles Pinkie hopping away to plan her party.
"She is a very… energetic one" Mumbles Messmer.
"We know but we love her for it! She can brighten anyone's day!" Says Applejack.
Messmer looks down at Sonata who is, despite trying to hide it, still hurt by what happened with Aria and Adagio, the former outright refusing to speak to her unless forced to by Messmer.
"Perhaps that will be needed in this case" Responds Messmer.
"Well why don't we all do something together with Sonata?" Asks Rainbow leaning back in her chair for some reason.
"Like?" Asks Rarity, turning to her friend with a raised eyebrow.
"I don't know, maybe something Sonata enjoys!" Responds Rainbow, thinking of an answer on the fly.
Applejack turns to Sonata and gives her a gentle smile.
"So, what do ya wanna do sugarcube?" Asks Applejack.
"W-Well there is this one place that sells tacos that I really wanted to check out for awhile but Aria and Adagio never let me…" Mumbles Sonata.
"Well then what are we waiting for dear?" Asks Rarity with a smile.
"We can head there whenever you're ready!" Says Sci-Twi and Sunset in comically perfect unison.
Sonata barely able to contain her excitement squeals like a little girl making everyone even Bedman if only for just a split-second smile…
And that'll be all for now folks! I know this took awhile classic procrastination but I promised myself I would finish and publish a chapter this month so here it is! Think of this as a Christmas or Holiday present from me! And yes, I know it's short but I was struggling on how to continue this which is another reason it took so long. Also, one last thing: think of this chapter and the previous one as kinda a halfway point in this story as right now my goal is to finish this in ten to twelve chapters then I'll start deciding what random future things I've been working on that I want to publish next! I have so much in the works for franchises and fan made worlds I want to explore with these! So I hope you'll be there with me when we get to them!
